| 1 | An Effective Method for Total RNA Isolation from Bamboo显示文摘Trizol reagent was used for RNA isolation from fresh leaves of Dendrocalamopsis oldhami, Bambusa ventricosa and Phyllostachys aureosulcata cv. Pekinensis. The extracted RNA from leaves had the normal ultraviolet absorption, the value of OD260/OD280 varied between 1.8-2.0. The 28s rRNA was more than two times brighter than 18s rRNA in electrophoresis. These results indicated that the total RNA was complete and not degraded. | 2 | Microstructure and strengthening mechanism of hot-extruded ultralight Mg-Li-Al-Sn alloys with high strength显示文摘Duplex-structured Mg-7Li-2Al-1.5Sn alloys with high strength were fabricated and their strengthening mechanism was investigated.The Mg-7Li-2Al-1.5Sn alloys were prepared by casting and extruded at the temperature of 533 K with an extrusion ratio of 25:1.The microstructure and mechanical properties of Mg-7Li-2Al-1.5Sn alloys were systematically investigated by OM,XRD,SEM,TEM,and tensile tests.The results show that Mg-7Li-2Al-1.5Sn alloys are mainly composed ofα-Mg,β-Li,LiMgAl_(2),Mg_(2)Sn and Li_(2)MgSn phases.The yield strength(YS),ultimate tensile strength(UTS)and elongation(EL)of the extruded alloy at room temperature reach 250 MPa,324 MPa and 11.9%,respectively.A lot of Sn-rich precipitates(Mg_(2)Sn and Li_(2)MgSn)are precipitated during extrusion with an average size of∼14 nm,which is beneficial to the grain refinement.Dynamic recrystallization occurs during hot deformation and the nanoprecipitates effectively refine the dynamic recrystallized(DRXed)grains.Besides,the residual dislocations existed in DRXed and un-DRXed grains result in the dislocation strengthening in the extruded alloy.Mg7Li-2Al-1.5Sn alloys possess excellent high-temperature mechanical properties with the YS,UTS and EL of 200 MPa,237 MPa and 26.7%at 423 K,respectively.Sn-rich precipitates with good thermal stability can effectively prevent grain growth,which is good for the improvement of the high-temperature performance of Mg-Li-Al-Sn alloy. | Gang Zhou Yan Yang Hanzhu Zhang Faping Hu Xueping Zhang Chen Wen Weidong Xie Bin Jiang Xiaodong Peng Fusheng Pan | 2022 | Journal of Materials Science & Technology2022,,8: | 7 |
| 3 | Rapid Detection of Wheat Blast Pathogen Magnaporthe oryzae Triticum Pathotype Using Genome-Specific Primers and Cas12a-mediated Technology显示文摘Wheat blast,caused by the fungus Magnaporthe oryzae Triticum(MoT)pathotype,is a devastating disease persistent in South America and Bangladesh.Since MoT generally fails to cause visual symptoms in wheat until the heading stage when the infection would have advanced,disease control by fungicide application solely based on the detection of visual symptoms is ineffective.To develop an accurate and sensitive method to detect MoT at the seedling and vegetative stages for disease control,we sequenced the genomes of two MoT isolates from Brazil and identified two DNA fragments,MoT-6098 and MoT-6099,that are present in the MoT genome but not in the genome of the rice-infecting Magnaporthe oryzae Oryzae(MoO)pathotype.Using polymerase chain reaction(PCR),we confirmed the specificity of the two markers in 53 MoT and MoO isolates from South America and Bangladesh.To test the efficiency of the two markers,we first established a loop-mediated isothermal amplification(LAMP)method to detect MoT at isothermal conditions,without the use of a PCR machine.Following this,we used the Cas12a protein and guide RNAs(gRNAs)to target the MoT-6098 and MoT-6099 sequences.The activated Cas12a showed indiscriminate single-stranded deoxyribonuclease(ssDNase)activity.We then combined targetdependent Cas12a ssDNase activation with recombinase polymerase amplification(RPA)and nucleic acid lateral flow immunoassay(NALFIA)to develop a method that accurately,sensitively,and cost-effectively detects MoT-specific DNA sequences in infected wheat plants.This novel technique can be easily adapted for the rapid detection of wheat blast and other important plant diseases in the field. | Houxiang Kang Ye Peng Kangyu Hua Yufei Deng Maria Bellizzi Dipali Rani Gupta Nur Uddin Mahmud Alfredo S.Urashima Sanjoy Kumar Paul Gary Peterson Yilin Zhou Xueping Zhou Md Tofazzal Islam Guo-Liang Wang | 2021 | Engineering2021,7,9: | 4 |
| 4 | Effects of thyme(Thymus vulgaris L.)addition on the volatile compounds of mutton broth during boiling显示文摘To investigate the effects of thyme(Thymus vulgaris L.)addition on the flavor modification of mutton broth during boiling,three mutton-broth samples with various thyme contents 0.06%(S1),0.30%(S2),and1.50%(S3)were analyzed and compared,without thyme as control(0.00%,S0).The meaty,fatty,pastoral flavor and spicy were chosen as sensory attributes to evaluate the flavor of the mutton-broth samples.Sensory results were significantly different(P<0.001),with S2 having the optimum overall acceptability.A total of 99 volatile compounds were identified by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry,among which19 compounds were considered as the odor-active compounds according to their odor activity values.Significant changes(P<0.05)appeared in most volatiles in S0 with thyme addition,especially aldehydes.Free fatty acids(FFAs)were also identified,and all of them significantly increased with increased thyme(P<0.05).Correlation analysis of odor-active compounds,FFAs,and sensory attributes through partial least squares regression indicated the important volatiles and FFAs remarkably contributed to the mutton broth samples,and further confirmed that the 0.30%of thyme may be a desirable addition amount for the sensory characteristics of mutton broth. | Shasha Qi Ping Zhan Honglei Tian Peng Wang Xueping Ma Kaixuan Li | 2022 | Food Science and Human Wellness2022,11,2: | 2 |
| 5 | Immersing Treatment of Steel Plate Surface in Steel-Aluminum Solid to Liquid Bonding显示文摘The interfacial status of the steel-aluminum solid to liquid bonding plates (their steel plate surfaces were or were not immersed in flux aqueous solution) were measured by using SEM (Scanning Electron Microscope) and X-ray diffraction . The results showed that the layer of flux (the minimum thickness was 15 μm on the steel plate surface) could protect the steel plate surface from oxidizing effectively at high temperature in solid to liquid bonding. The melt temperatUre of the flux should be lower than 580 ℃ so that it could be melted and removed completely. | 6 | Free fatty acid receptor 2 promotes cardiomyocyte hypertrophy by activating STAT3 and GATA4显示文摘Free fatty acids(FFAs)play important roles in cardiovascular disease.Studies have shown that it is an important way for FAs to exert biological effects through their own receptors besides directly participating biochemical reaction in body.Free fatty acid receptor 2(FFA2)can be activated by short-chain FAs and is involved in inflammatory reactions and lipid accumulation.Since the known pathological changes caused by FFA2 are also implicated in cardiac hypertrophy,we hypothesized that FFA2 might be pathogenic in cardiac hypertrophy.This paper showed that FFA2 expression significantly increased in cardiac hypertrophy in vivo and in vitro.FFA2 agonist 4-CMTB or TUG-1375 promoted the expression of the hypertrophy markers ANF and BNP and increased cell surface area in vitro,which was further strengthened by FFA2 overexpression,suggesting that FFA2 might contribute to cardiomyocyte hypertrophy.Furthermore,4-CMTB treatment or FFA2 overexpression combined with 4-CMTB treatment elevated the phosphorylation and transcriptional activity of GATA4 and STAT3,which were inhibited by an ERK1/2 inhibitor,and GATA4 and STAT3 knockdown inhibited the elevation of hypertrophy biomarkers in cardiomyocytes treated with 4-CMTB.Taken together,these data indicate that FFA2 can enhance cardiomyocyte hypertrophy by activating STAT3 and GATA4 via ERK1/2,providing a potential new target for therapy. | Hui Gao Kunming Tian Xiaojun Feng Mengqing Yan Chen Gao Yisheng Jiang Chenhao Zhu Huzhe Zhu Xueping Liu Yingfu Peng | 2022 | Food Science and Human Wellness2022,11,2: | 1 |

| 13 | Extruded monolith MnO_(x)-CeO_(2)-TiO_(2) catalyst for NH_(3)-SCR of low temperature flue gas from an industry boiler:Deactivation and recovery显示文摘The selective catalytic reduction(SCR) of NO_(x) with NH_(3)(NH_(3)-SCR) technology has been widely applied for reducing NO_(x) emissions from stationary and mobile sources.In this work,the extruded monolith MnO_(x)-CeO_(2)-TiO_(2) catalyst was installed in a cement kiln for NH_(3)-SCR of NO_(x),where the flue gas temperature was 110-140℃.It is found that the monolith catalyst is severely deactivated after operating for about 200 h with almost no NO_(x) conversion at 160℃ under GHSV of 50000 h^(-1),while the fresh monolith catalyst remains 60% NO_(x) conversion.Scanning electron microscopy-energy dispersive spectroscopy(SEM-EDS),X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS),temperature-programmed desorption of SO_(2)(SO_(2)-TPD) and thermogravimetric-differential thermal analysis(TG-DTG) experiments reveal that both MnO_(x) and CeO_(2) oxides in monolith are severely sulfated to manganese sulfate and cerium sulfate,and the external monolith walls are covered by massive ceria sulfate and little ammonium nitrate.In situ diffuse reflectance infrared Fourier trans form spectroscopy(DRIFTS) analysis demonstrates that the formation of nitrates at low temperatures is inhibited due to the occupation of active sites in MnO_(x)-CeO_(2)-TiO_(2) by sulfates,resulting in the decrease of low temperature activity.After washing with water,the activity of deactivated monolith catalyst can be partially recovered,together with significant loss of manganese and cerium from monolith. | Wei Shi Jingjing Liu Ying Zhu Lin Zhao Yonggang Wang Zhaohuan Cheng Xueping Peng Xiaoyan Shi Yunbo Yu Hong He | 2023 | Journal of Rare Earths2023,41,9: | 0 |
| 14 | Influence of Tidal Cycles on Embryonic Rotation,Hatching and Emergence of Mangrove Horseshoe Crab,Carcinoscorpius rotundicauda显示文摘Horseshoe crabs are iconic and ecologically significant macroinvertebrates in coastal environments.The processes and mechanisms of larval hatching in Asian horseshoe crabs that occurs beneath the sand are largely unknown.The spawning and developmental ecology of Tachypleus tridentatus and T.gigas are assumed to be similar to their Atlantic counterpart Limulus polyphemus.However,Carcinoscorpius rotundicauda has been cited as an exception owing to their frequent sightings in muddy mangrove areas even during low tides.To reveal the larval hatching mechanisms,in this study,we examined varying hatching responses of C.rotundicauda embryos within the sediment to the environmental conditions under continuous tidal cycles.During the eight-week experiment,the count of hatched larvae ranged 4%–30%per week,while the cumulative emergence rate from the sediment was 0–47%.Embryos were observed to have the highest active rotation activity in the first two weeks after incubation.The inundation of tidal water significantly enhanced the occurrence of hatching,in which hydration,osmotic shock and possibly agitation had triggered or facilitated the eclosion.The larvae were found to remain in the sediment for approximately 2–6 weeks before emergence.In general,C.rotundicauda was found to share a similar hatching mechanism with L.polyphemus.Our findings provide insight into the developmental ecology of Asian horseshoe crabs exposed to varying tidal conditions,and are helpful to the management and protection of their spawning habitats. | KUANG Yang TAN Kian Ann FU Yijian YANG Xin XU Peng ZHEN Wenquan WANG Xueping HUANG Xing ZHU Junhua WANG Chun-Chieh KWAN Kit Yue | 2022 | Journal of Ocean University of China2022,21,3: | 0 |
