1Overview of China's Antarctic research progress 1984–2016显示文摘It is more than 30 years since the first Chinese National Antarctic Research Expedition(CHINARE) landed in Antarctica in 1984, representing China's initiation in polar research. This review briefly summarizes the Chinese Antarctic scientific research and output accomplished over the past 30 years. The developments and progress in Antarctic research and the enhancement of international scientific cooperation achieved through the implementation of the CHINARE program have been remarkable. Since the 1980 s, four permanent Chinese Antarctic research stations have been established successively and 33 CHINAREs have been completed. 2Climatological analysis and modeling of the ionospheric global electron content显示文摘In this paper, we calculate the ionospheric global electron content (GEC) from the GPS TEC data along the geographic longitude 120°E during the period of 1996-2004, and investigate the relationship be- tween GEC and 10.7 cm solar radio flux F10.7 and its seasonal dependence with partial correlation analysis. Our results show that GEC is closely correlated with solar activity index F10.7 and is also re- lated with annual and semiannual variations. An empirical GEC model driven by those factors is then to examine the influences of different solar activity proxies for the model input. The results suggest that GEC mainly depends on solar activity and the seasonal variations; the latter is also modulated by solar activity. Furthermore, the magnitude of semiannual variation is a little greater than that of annual varia- tion. 3Geology and geochemistry of the Bingdaban ophiolitic mélange in the boundary fault zone on the northern Central Tianshan Belt,and its tectonic implications显示文摘The properties and tectonic significance of the fault bound zone on the northern margin of the Central Tianshan belt are key issues to understand the tectonic framework and evolutionary history of the Tianshan Orogenic Belt. Based on the geological and geochemical studies in the Tianshan orogenic belt, it is suggested that the ophiolitic slices found in the Bingdaban area represent the remaining oceanic crust of the Early Paleozoic ocean between the Hazakstan and Zhungaer blocks. Mainly com-posed of basalts, gabbros and diabases, the ophiolites were overthrust onto the boundary fault be-tween the Northern Tianshan and Central Tianshan belts. The major element geochemistry is charac-terized by high TiO2 (1.50%-2.25%) and MgO (6.64%-9.35%), low K2O (0.06%-0.41%) and P2O5 (0.1%-0.2%), and Na2O>K2O as well. Low ΣREE and depletion in LREE indicate that the original magma was derived from a depleted mantle source. Compared with a primitive mantle, the geochemistry of the basalts from the Bingdaban area is featureded by depletion in Th, U, Nb, La, Ce and Pr, and unfrac-tionated in HFS elements. The ratios of Zr/Nb, Nb/La, Hf/Ta, Th/Yb and Hf/Th are similar to those of the typical N-MORB. It can be interpreted that the basalts in the Bingdaban area were derived from a de-pleted mantle source, and formed in a matured mid-oceanic ridge setting during the matured evolu-tionary stage of the Northern Tianshan ocean. In comparison with the basalts, the diabases from the Bingdaban area show higher contents of Al2O3, ∑REE and HFS elements as well as unfractionated incompatible elements except Cs, Rb and Ba, and about 10 times the values of the primitive mantle. Thus, the diabases are thought to be derived from a primitive mantle and similar to the typical E-MORB. The diabases also have slight Nb depletion accompanying no apparent Th enrichment compared with N-MORB. 6Optimal index shooting policy for layered missile defense system显示文摘In order to cope with the increasing threat of the ballistic missile(BM)in a shorter reaction time,the shooting policy of the layered defense system needs to be optimized.The main decisionmaking problem of shooting optimization is how to choose the next BM which needs to be shot according to the previous engagements and results,thus maximizing the expected return of BMs killed or minimizing the cost of BMs penetration.Motivated by this,this study aims to determine an optimal shooting policy for a two-layer missile defense(TLMD)system.This paper considers a scenario in which the TLMD system wishes to shoot at a collection of BMs one at a time,and to maximize the return obtained from BMs killed before the system demise.To provide a policy analysis tool,this paper develops a general model for shooting decision-making,the shooting engagements can be described as a discounted reward Markov decision process.The index shooting policy is a strategy that can effectively balance the shooting returns and the risk that the defense mission fails,and the goal is to maximize the return obtained from BMs killed before the system demise.The numerical results show that the index policy is better than a range of competitors,especially the mean returns and the mean killing BM number.LI Longyue FAN Chengli XING Qinghua XU Hailong ZHAO Huizhen 2020Journal of Systems Engineering and Electronics2020,31,1:1

14Carbon-supported high-entropy Co-Zn-Cd-Cu-Mn sulfide nanoarrays promise high-performance overall water splitting显示文摘Transition metal sulfides with homogeneous multi-metallic elements promise high catalytic performance for water electrolysis owing to the unique structure and highly tailorable electrochemical property.Most existing synthetic routes require high temperature to ensure the uniform mixing of various elements,making the synthesis highly challenging.Here,for the first-time novel carbon fiber supported high-entropy Co-Zn-Cd-Cu-Mn sulfide(CoZnCdCuMnS@CF)nanoarrays are fabricated by the mild cation exchange strategy.Benefiting from the synergistic effect among multiple metals and the strong interfacial bonding between high-entropy Co-Zn-Cd-Cu-Mn sulfide nanoarrays and the carbon fiber support,CoZnCdCuMnS@CF exhibits superior catalytic activity and stability toward overall water splitting in alkaline medium.Impressively,CoZnCdCuMnS@CF only needs low overpotentials of 173 and 220 mV to reach the current density of 10 mA•cm^(−2),with excellent durability for over 70 and 113 h for hydrogen evolution reaction(HER)and oxygen evolution reaction(OER)respectively.More importantly,the bifunctional electrode(CoZnCdCuMnS@CF||CoZnCdCuMnS@CF)for overall water splitting can deliver a small cell voltage of 1.63 V to afford 10 mA•cm^(−2) and exhibit outstanding stability of negligible decay after 73 h continuous operation.This work provides a viable synthesis route toward advanced high-entropy materials with great potential applications.Yuanting Lei Lili Zhang Wenjing Xu Chengli Xiong Wenxing Chen Xu Xiang Bing Zhang Huishan Shang 2022Nano Research2022,15,7:0

16Different physiopsychological changes between AMS-susceptible and AMS-resistant pre-selected Antarctic expeditioners in Tibet显示文摘Through dynamically monitoring changes of acute mountain sickness(AMS)occurrences,cardiopulmonary function and mood states from Shanghai(4 m)to Lhasa(3650 m)and Yambajan(4300 m),Tibet,we obtained physiopsychological data of the 37th Chinese Antarctic pre-selected expeditioners for Kunlun Station.Through analyzing different physiopsychological changes between AMS-susceptible(AMS-S)and AMS-resistant(AMS-R)expeditioners,we would explore indicators to screen hypoxia-susceptible expeditioners.According to AMS occurrences evaluated by Lake Louise Score(LLS)in Yambajan,we divided the expeditioners(n=24,31.92±5.76 a)into AMS-S and AMS-R groups.Using a series of medical instrumentsand questionnaires,we monitored their cardiopulmonary function and mood states,and analyzed the differences of physiopsychological parameters between AMS-S and AMS-R groups.Compared with Shanghai,when expeditioners arrived in Yambajan,in both AMS-S and AMS-R groups,oxygen saturation(SpO2)significantly decreased,and blood pressure significantly increased(P<0.05).As for electrocardiogram(ECG),interval from the beginning to the end of QRS complex wave(QRS),interval from the beginning of QRS complex wave to the end of T wave(QT),interval between 2 adjacent P waves(PP)and interval between 2 adjacent R waves(RR)significantly decreased,heart rate(HR)and HR-corrected QT interval(QTc)significantly increased(P<0.05).Cardiac contractility and pumping function significantly decreased,systemic vascular resistance significantly increased(P<0.05).Pulmonary airway patency significantly increased(P<0.05).Compared with AMS-R group,AMS-S group showed significantly lower SpO2 and higher stroke volume variation(SVV)in Shanghai,however,significantly lower maximal expiratory flow at 75%of forced vital capacity(MEF75),higher levels of anxiety,fatigue and confusion in Yambajan(P<0.05).In conclusion,when expeditioners arrived at 4300 m,their cardiopulmonary function and mood states changed significantly.SpO2,SVV,MEF75,anxiety,fatigue and confusion maybe could be used as clues for screening hypoxia-susceptible individuals.WU Xiaopei LIU Shiying WANG Xi WANG Jianan QIN Pengrui XU Chengli 2021Advances in Polar Science2021,32,3:0
17Functional Recovery with Electro-Acupuncture Stimulation in an Mecp2-Knockout Rat Model of Rett Syndrome显示文摘Rett syndrome is a progressive neurodevelopmental disorder that lacks effective treatments.Although deep-brain stimulation can alleviate some symptoms in Rett model mice,this interventional manipula-tion requires deliberate surgical operations.Here,we report that electro-acupuncture stimulation(EAS)can ameliorate symptoms of an Mecp2-knockout rat model of Rett syndrome from the remote acupoints Baihui(GV 20),Yongquan(KI 1),and Shenmen(HT 7).We find that EAS not only prolongs the survival time of Rett rats,but also improves their behavior ability,including locomotion,motor coordination,and social interaction.Neural activation was observed in the substantia nigra of the midbrain,corpus striatum,and cerebral cortex of wild-type and Rett model rats,as reflected by the increased expression of the c-Fos protein.Hence,EAS provides a potential promising therapeutic tool for treating neurodevel-opmental diseases.Yanhong Sun Zhifang Chen Yi Xu Yuefang Zhang Zhilei Ge Chenglie Lin Yi Zhou Fangfei Zhao Meiling Yan Xinyi Liu Ying Zhu Jimin Gao Hongyi Li Lihua Wang Jun Hu Zilong Qiu Chunhai Fan 2022Engineering2022,8,5:0
18Sleep architecture, periodic breathing and mood disturbance of expeditioners at Kunlun Station(4087 m) in Antarctica显示文摘Several studies have reported the detrimental impacts of hypoxia exposure on sleep.Chinese Kunlun Station(altitude 4087 m)is located at Dome A,the highest point on the Antarctic ice sheet and one of the most extreme environments on Earth.This study investigated alteration of sleep,breathing and mood status in healthy expeditioners at Kunlun Station at Dome A.The study examined 10 male volunteers of the inland transverse party to Kunlun Station during the 31st Chinese National Antarctic Research Expedition,and valid data from eight volunteers were analyzed.Sleep structure,breathing pattern and mood were monitored using portable polysomnography(PSG)and profile of mood state(POMS)at two time points:(1)at Zhongshan Station(10 m)before departure to Kunlun Station;(2)on nights 12–13 of residence at Kunlun Station.Slow-wave sleep(Stage 3 non-rapid eye movement)was markedly reduced at Kunlun Station(P<0.01).Total sleep time,sleep efficiency and sleep latency showed no significant changes.Total respiratory events(P<0.05),apnea/hypopnea index(AHI)(P<0.05)and hypopnea index(P<0.01)substantially increased at Kunlun Station.The most common respiratory disorder was periodic breathing,occurring almost exclusively during non-rapid eye movement sleep.The oxygen desaturation index increased markedly(P<0.05),while nocturnal oxygen saturation dramatically fell at Kunlun Station(P<0.05).Vigor scores decreased at Kunlun Station(P<0.05).Expeditioners exhibited reduced slow wave sleep,induced periodic breathing,decreased oxygen saturation and decreased vigor at Kunlun Station.XU Chengli LIU Shiying KONG Zhanping CHEN Nan 2020Advances in Polar Science2020,31,3:0
