| 1 | Advanced treatment of dyeing wastewater towards reuse by the combined Fenton oxidation and membrane bioreactor process显示文摘The performance of combined Fenton oxidation and membrane bioreactor (MBR) process for the advanced treatment of an effluent from an integrated dyeing wastewater treatment plant was evaluated. The experimental results revealed that under the optimum Fenton oxidation conditions (initial pH 5, H 2 O 2 dosage 17 mmol/L, and Fe 2+ 1.7 mmol/L) the average total organic carbon (TOC) and color removal ratios were 39.3% and 69.5% after 35 min of reaction, respectively. Results from Zahn-Wallens Test also represented that Fenton process was effective to enhance the biodegradability of the test wastewater. As for the further purification of MBR process, TOC removal capacity was examined at different hydraulic retention times (HRT) of 10, 18 and 25 hr. Under the optimum HRT of 18 hr, the average TOC concentration and color of the final MBR effluent were 16.8 mg/L and 2 dilution time, respectively. The sludge yield coefficient was 0.13 g MLSS/g TOC and TOC degradation rate was 0.078 kg TOC/(m 3 ·day). | 3 | Dietary supplementation with Clostridium butyricum improves growth performance of broilers by regulating intestinal microbiota and mucosal epithelial cells显示文摘Clostridium butyricum has been widely considered an antibiotic substitute in recent years.It can promote growth performance,improve the immune response and enhance the intestinal barrier function of the host.In the present study,1-d-old Arbor Acres(AA)broilers were fed C.butyricum(1×109 cfu/kg)for 28 d.The transcriptomic characteristics of epithelial cells of the cecal mucosa were determined by RNA-sequence,and the cecal microbiota composition was explored by 16 S ribosomal RNA gene sequencing.The changes in the intestinal mucosa of broilers were then analyzed by tissue staining.Gene Ontology(GO)annotations identified substance transport and processes and pathways that might participate in intestinal development and cell viability.Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes(KEGG)pathway analysis revealed that the differentially expressed genes are involved in numerous pathways related to amino acid and vitamin metabolism and antioxidant and defensive functions,among others.The relative expression of some genes associated with intestinal barrier function(claudins 2,15,19,and 23,tight junction proteins 1,2,and 3 and mucin 1)was significantly increased in the treatment group(P<0.05 or P<0.01).Moreover,the proportion of Firmicutes was higher in the C.butyricum-treated group,whereas the proportion of Proteobacteria was higher in the control group.At the genus level,the relative abundances of Butyricicoccus and Lactobacillus,among other bacteria,were increased after C.butyricum supplementation.The tissue staining analysis showed that the cecal mucosa of broilers was significantly ameliorated after the addition of C.butyricum(P<0.05 or P<0.01).These results showed that dietary supplementation with C.butyricum can enhance the antioxidant capacity,mucosal barrier function,and stabilize the cecal microbiota,resulting in improving the growth performance. | Laipeng Xu Xiangli Sun Xianhua Wan Keke Li Fuchun Jian Wenting Li Ruirui Jiang Ruili Han Hong Li Xiangtao Kang Yanbin Wang | 2021 | Animal Nutrition2021,,4: | 12 |

| 6 | Identification of an Early–Middle Jurassic oxidized magmatic belt,south Gangdese,Tibet,and geological implications显示文摘The south Gangdese region is the site of subduction of the Neo-Tethys and subsequent continental collision. Compared with widespread Cretaceous and Cenozoic magmatism, Early–Middle Jurassic magmatic rocks and related deposits are rarely reported. Our work identified a >200 km long felsic rock belt associated with Cu mineralization in the south Gangdese region. We report here zircon U–Pb ages, zircon Ce^(4+)/Ce^(3+)values, and mineral assemblages of two Cu mineralized intrusions within the belt. A hornblende granite and a diorite porphyry were emplaced at 177.3 Ma and 166.3 Ma, respectively.Geological occurrence and magmatic hematite–magnetite–chalcopyrite intergrowths suggest that Cu mineralization formed coeval with Jurassic intrusions. Mineralized intrusions have high zircon Ce^(4+)/Ce^(3+)and EuN/Eu?N ratios, and hematite–magnetite intergrowths, suggesting their parent magmas were highly oxidized. Hornblende is common and primary fluid inclusions are found in titanite and apatite,indicating their parent magmas were water-saturated and exsolved volatile phases at early stage of magmatic evolution. Those magma characters contribute to the formation of porphyry Cu deposits. | 9 | Detecting maize leaf water status by using digital RGB images显示文摘To explore the correlation between crop leaf digital RGB(Red,Green and Blue)image features and the corresponding moisture content of the leaf,a Canon digital camera was used to collect image information from detached leaves of heading-stage maize.A drying method was adopted to measure the moisture content of the leaf samples,and image processing technologies,including gray level co-occurrence matrices and grayscale histograms,was used to extract the maize leaf texture feature parameters and color feature parameters.The correlations of these feature parameters with moisture content were analyzed.It is found that the texture parameters of maize leaf RGB images,including contrast,correlation,entropy and energy,were not significantly correlated with moisture content.Thus,it was difficult to use these features to predict moisture content.Of the six groups of eigenvalues for the leaf color feature parameters,including mean,variance,energy,entropy,kurtosis and skewness,mean and kurtosis were found to be correlated with moisture content.Thus,these features could be used to predict the leaf moisture content.The correlation coefficient(R2)of the mean-moisture content relationship model was 0.7017,and the error of the moisture content prediction was within±2%.The R2 of the kurtosis-moisture content relationship model was 0.7175,and the error of the moisture content prediction was within±1.5%.The study results proved that RGB images of crop leaves could be used to measure moisture content. | Han Wenting Sun Yu Xu Tengfei Chen Xiangwei Su Ki Ooi | 2014 | International Journal of Agricultural and Biological Engineering2014,7,1: | 5 |

| 12 | A genetically encoded ratiometric calcium sensor enables quantitative measurement of the local calcium microdomain in the endoplasmic reticulum显示文摘The local Ca^2+ release from the heterogeneously distributed endoplasmic reticulum (ER) calcium store has a critical role in calcium homeostasis and cellular function. However;single fluorescent proteinbased ER calcium probes experience challenges in quantifying the ER calcium store in differing live cells, and intensity-based measurements make it difficult to detect local calcium microdomains in the ER. Here, we developed a genetically encoded ratiometric ER calcium indicator [GCEPIA1-SNAPer] that can detect the real-time ER calcium store and local calcium microdomains in live cells. GCEPIA1-SNAPer was located in the lumen of the ER and showed a linear;reversible and rapid response to changes in the ER calcium store. The GCEPIA1-SNAPer probe effectively monitored the depletion of the ER calcium store by TG or starvation treatment, and through 让s use we identified heterogeneously distributed calcium microdomains in the ER which were correlated w让h the distribution of STIM1 clusters upon ER calcium store depletion. | 13 | Profiles and Source Apportionment of Nonmethane Volatile Organic Compounds in Winter and Summer in Xi’an, China, based on the Hybrid Environmental Receptor Model显示文摘Summer and winter campaigns for the chemical compositions and sources of nonmethane hydrocarbons(NMHCs)and oxygenated volatile organic compounds(OVOCs)were conducted in Xi’an.Data from 57 photochemical assessment monitoring stations for NMHCs and 20 OVOC species were analyzed.Significant seasonal differences were noted for total VOC(TVOC,NMHCs and OVOCs)concentrations and compositions.The campaign-average TVOC concentrations in winter(85.3±60.6 ppbv)were almost twice those in summer(47.2±31.6 ppbv).Alkanes and OVOCs were the most abundant category in winter and summer,respectively.NMHCs,but not OVOCs,had significantly higher levels on weekends than on weekdays.Total ozone formation potential was higher in summer than in winter(by 50%)because of the high concentrations of alkenes(particularly isoprene),high temperature,and high solar radiation levels in summer.The Hybrid Environmental Receptor Model(HERM)was used to conduct source apportionment for atmospheric TVOCs in winter and summer,with excellent accuracy.HERM demonstrated its suitability in a situation where only partial source profile data were available.The HERM results indicated significantly different seasonal source contributions to TVOCs in Xi’an.In particular,coal and biomass burning had contributions greater than half in winter(53.4%),whereas traffic sources were prevalent in summer(53.1%).This study’s results highlight the need for targeted and adjustable VOC control measures that account for seasonal differences in Xi’an;such measures should target not only the severe problem with VOC pollution but also the problem of consequent secondary pollution(e.g.,from ozone and secondary organic aerosols). | Jian SUN Zhenxing SHEN Yue ZHANG Wenting DAI Kun HE Hongmei XU Zhou ZHANG Long CUI Xuxiang LI Yu HUANG Junji CAO | 2021 | Advances in Atmospheric Sciences2021,38,1: | 2 |
| 14 | Association between TSHR gene polymorphism and the risk of Graves' disease:a meta-analysis显示文摘Thyroid stimulating hormone receptor(TSHR) is thought to be a significant candidate for genetic susceptibility to Graves' disease(GD).However,the association between TSHR gene polymorphism and the risk of GD remains controversial.In this study,we investigated the relationship between the two conditions by meta-analysis.We searched all relevant case-control studies in PubMed,Web of Science,CNKI and Wanfang for literature available until May2015,and chose studies on two single nucleotide polymorphisms(SNPs):rs 179247 and rsl2101255,within TSHR intron-1.Bias of heterogeneity test among studies was determined by the fixed or random effect pooled measure,and publication bias was examined by modified Begg's and Egger's test.Eight eligible studies with 15 outcomes were involved in this meta-analysis,including 6,976 GD cases and 7,089 controls from China,Japan,Poland,UK and Brazil.Pooled odds ratios(ORs) for allelic comparisons showed that both TSHR rsl79247A/G and rsl2101255T/C polymorphism had significant association with GD(OR=1.422,95%CI=1.353—1.495,P<0.001,P_(heterogeneity)=0.448;OR= 1.502,95%CI:1.410-1.600,P<0.001,P_(heterogeneity)=0.642),and the associations were the same under dominant,recessive and co-dominant models.In subgroup analyses,the conclusions are also consistent with all those in Asian,European and South America subgroups(P<0.001).Our meta-analysis revealed a significant association between TSHR rsl79247A/G and rsl2101255T/C polymorphism with GD in five different populations from Asia,Europe and South America.Further studies are needed in other ethnic backgrounds to independently confirm our findings. | Wei Qian Kuanfeng Xu Wenting Jia Ling Lan Xuqin Zheng Xueyang Yang Dai Cui | 2016 | The Journal of Biomedical Research2016,30,6: | 2 |

Therefore, transplantation of induced bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) that can secrete S100 may provide a beneficial microenvironment for neural regeneration. OBJECTIVE: To explore the changes in S100 expression during rat MSCs differentiation into Schwann cells in vitro. DESIGN, TIME AND SETTING: This cytology experiment was performed at the Jiangsu Key Laboratory of Neuroregeneration, Nantong University in China, from January 2006 to May 2007. MATERIALS: The rabbit anti-S100 polyclonal antibody was purchased from Dako, Denmark; the mouse anti-rat S100 monoclonal antibody was purchased from Sigma, USA. METHODS: MSCs were cultured from adult Sprague-Dawley rat femur and tibia. Cell proliferation was determined by the MTT method and CD markers, and cell cycle was meas-ured by flow cytometry. MSCs were induced to differentiate into SC cells. SC cells were stained for S100 protein, glial fibrillary acidic protein, and low-affinity nerve growth factor receptor. S100 protein and mRNA levels were evaluated by flow cytometry, Western blot, and reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: S100 protein and mRNA expression. RESULTS: MSCs exhibited high amplification potential over eight passages. Prior to induction, the majority of MSCs were at the G0/G1 phase of the cell cycle. After induction, MSCs displayed morphology changes similar to Schwann cells. Moreover, induction increased S100 mRNA levels. Immunofluorescence showed that MSCs expressed S100 protein, glial fibrillary acidic protein, and low-affinity nerve growth factor receptor at 7 days of induction. Induction also increased S100 protein levels compared with untreated MSCs. | 20 | Distribution of shrublands in relation to soil and climate in mid-subtropical China显示文摘Aims Understanding relationships between vegetation and environments is of importance for ecosystem restoration and management.However,information on how environments influence the floristic patterns of shrublands is lack,especially in the subtropical China.In this study,we explored how environments regulate species composition of shrublands at landscape scale in mid-subtropical China.Methods We investigated species composition and measured the climate and soil environments for 207 shrubland plots in mid-subtropical China(24°39′-30°08′N,108°47′-114°15′E).We applied a hierarchical cluster analysis and indicator species analysis based on the Bray-Curtis similarity index to identify the main shrubland types and employed principal coordinate analysis(PCoA)to explore the relationship between floristic composition and environment.Important Findings We identified four shrubland types occurring in different environmental conditions.Montane shrubland,dominated by species suitable for cool climates(e.g.Rhododendron simsii),were distributed in steep areas at comparatively high altitudes;foothill shrubland,dominated by mesophilous species(e.g.Loropetalum chinense),were distributed in low mountains and hills;pioneer shrubland,dominated by fast grow and short-life cycles species(e.g.Rhus chinensis),were distributed at low altitudes with dense population;and finally,limestone shrubland,dominated by calcicole plants(e.g.Coriaria nepalensis),were distributed in the extensive karst areas.Communities occurring in high pH soils were completely separated from those in low pH soils according to the hierarchical cluster analysis.PCoA ordination associated the four types with distinct edaphic and climatic gradients.Soil pH explained 63.3%of variation in PCoA,followed by soil depth and soil bulk density. | Jiaxiang Li Gaoming Xiong Wenting Xu Zongqiang Xie | 2016 | Journal of Plant Ecology2016,9,4: | 1 |
