1Terrestrial carbon sinks in China and around the world and their contribution to carbon neutrality显示文摘Enhancing the terrestrial ecosystem carbon sink(referred to as terrestrial C sink) is an important way to slow down the continuous increase in atmospheric carbon dioxide(CO_(2)) concentration and to achieve carbon neutrality target.To better understand the characteristics of terrestrial C sinks and their contribution to carbon neutrality,this review summarizes major progress in terrestrial C budget researches during the past decades,clarifies spatial patterns and drivers of terrestrial C sources and sinks in China and around the world,and examines the role of terrestrial C sinks in achieving carbon neutrality target.According to recent studies,the global terrestrial C sink has been increasing from a source of (-0.2±0.9) Pg C yr^(-1)(1 Pg=1015g)in the 1960s to a sink of (1.9±1.1) Pg C yr^(-1) in the 2010s.By synthesizing the published data,we estimate terrestrial C sink of 0.20–0.25 Pg C yr^(-1) in China during the past decades,and predict it to be 0.15–0.52 Pg C yr^(-1) by 2060.The terrestrial C sinks are mainly located in the mid-and high latitudes of the Northern Hemisphere,while tropical regions act as a weak C sink or source.The C balance differs much among ecosystem types:forest is the major C sink;shrubland,wetland and farmland soil act as C sinks;and whether the grassland functions as C sink or source remains unclear.Desert might be a C sink,but the magnitude and the associated mechanisms are still controversial.Elevated atmospheric CO_(2) concentration,nitrogen deposition,climate change,and land cover change are the main drivers of terrestrial C sinks,while other factors such as fires and aerosols would also affect ecosystem C balance.The driving factors of terrestrial C sink differ among regions.Elevated CO_(2) concentration and climate change are major drivers of the C sinks in North America and Europe,while afforestation and ecological restoration are additionally important forcing factors of terrestrial C sinks in China.For future studies,we recommend the necessity for intensive and long-term ecosystem C monitoring over broad geographic scale to improve terrestrial biosphere models for accurately evaluating terrestrial C budget and its dynamics under various climate change and policy scenarios.Yuanhe Yang Yue Shi Wenjuan Sun Jinfeng Chang Jianxiao Zhu Leiyi Chen Xin Wang Yanpei Guo Hongtu Zhang Lingfei Yu Shuqing Zhao Kang Xu Jiangling Zhu Haihua Shen Yuanyuan Wang Yunfeng Peng Xia Zhao Xiangping Wang Huifeng Hu Shiping Chen Mei Huang Xuefa Wen Shaopeng Wang Biao Zhu Shuli Niu Zhiyao Tang Lingli Liu Jingyun Fang 2022Science China(Life Sciences)2022,65,5:32

4Facile synthesis of graphene via reduction of graphene oxide by artemisinin in ethanol显示文摘The preparation of reduced graphene oxide(RGO)by chemical reduction of graphene oxide(GO)usually involves highly toxic reducing agents which are harmful to the environment and human health.In this paper,a mediated facile and relative green approach for the preparation of RGO in ethanol using artemisinin as a reducing agent is reported for the first time.The morphology and de-oxidation efficiency of the obtained RGO were characterized by transmission electron microscope(TEM),atomic force microscope(AFM),and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS).The results showed that artemisinin can effectively reduce GO into few-layered RGO with a high carbon to oxygen ratio(11.7).The mechanism for elimination of oxygen-containing functional groups decorated on GO nanosheets by artemisinin was proposed.The important features of relatively environmentally friendly and facile operation procedures endow this approach with great promise in the mass production of RGO and various graphene-based materials,especially for biomaterials.Dandan Hou Qinfu Liu Xianshuai Wang Ying Quan Zhichuan Qiao Li Yu Shuli Ding 2018Journal of Materiomics2018,4,3:6
5Assessing soil thickness in a black soil watershed in northeast China using random forest and field observations显示文摘Soil thickness determines the soil productivity in the black soil region of northeast China,which is important for national food security.Existing information on the spatial variation of black soil thickness is inadequate.In this paper,we propose a model framework for spatial estimation of the black soil thickness at the watershed scale by integrating field observations,unmanned aerial vehicle variations of topography,and satellite variations of vegetation with the aid of random forest.We sampled 141 sample profiles over a watershed and identified the black soil thickness based on indices of the mollic epipedon.Topographic variables were derived from a digital elevation model and vegetation variables were derived from Landsat 8 imagery.Random forest was used to determine the relationship between black soil thickness and environmental variables.The resulting model explained 61%of the black soil thickness spatial variation,which was more than twice that of traditional interpolation methods(ordinary kriging,universal kriging and inverse distance weighting).Topographic variables contributed the most toward explaining the thickness,followed by vegetation indices.The black soil thickness over the watershed had a clear catenary soil pattern,with thickest black soil in the low depositional areas and thinnest at the higher elevations that drain into the low areas.The proposed model framework will improve estimates of soil thickness in the region of our study.Shuai Zhang Gang Liu Shuli Chen Craig Rasmussen Baoyuan Liu 2021International Soil and Water Conservation Research2021,9,1:5
6Multi-sensor image registration by combining local self-similarity matching and mutual information显示文摘Automatic multi-sensor image registration is a challenging task in remote sensing.Conventional image registration algorithms may not be applicable when common underlying visual features are not distinct.In this paper,we propose a novel image registration approach that integrates local self-similarity (LSS)and mutual information (MI)for multi-sensor images with rigid/non- rigid radiometric and geometric distortions.LSS is a well- performing descriptor that captures common,local internal layout features for multi-sensor images,whereas MI focuses on global intensity relationships.First,potential control points are identified by using the Harris algorithm and screened based on the self-similarity of their local surrounding internal layouts.Second,a Bayesian prob- abilistic model for matching the ensemble of the LSS features is introduced.Third,a particle swarm optimization (PSO)algorithm is adopted to optimize the point and region correspondences for maximum self-similarity and MI and,ultimately,a robust mapping function.The proposed approach is compared with several conventional image registration algorithms that are based on the sum of squared differences (SSD),scale-invariant feature trans- forms (SIFT),and speeded-up robust features (SURF) through the experimental registration of pairs of Landsat TM,SPOT,and RADARSAT SAR images.The results demonstrate that the proposed approach is efficient and accurate.Xiaoping LIU Shuli CHEN Li ZHUO Jun LI Kangning HUANG 2018Frontiers of Earth Science2018,12,4:4

8Enhancement of Rhodobacter sphaeroides growth and carotenoid production through biostimulation显示文摘Bacillus thuringiensis/cereus L2 was added as a biostimulant to enhance the biomass accumulation and carotenoid yield of Rhodobacter sphaeroides using wastewater as the culturing medium. Results showed that biostimulation could significantly enhance the R. sphaeroides biomass production and carotenoid yield. The optimal biostimulant proportion was 40 μL(about 6.4 × 105CFU). Through the use of biostimulation, chemical oxygen demand removal, R. sphaeroides biomass production, carotenoid concentration, and carotenoid yield were improved by 178%, 67%, 214%, and 70%, respectively. Theoretical analysis revealed that there were two possible reasons for such increases. One was that biostimulation enhanced the R. sphaeroides wastewater treatment efficiency. The other was that biostimulation significantly decreased the peroxidase activity in R. sphaeroides. The results showed that the highest peroxidase activity dropped by 87% and the induction ratio of the RSP_3419 gene was 3.1 with the addition of biostimulant. 13Progress in the beam commissioning of separated function RFQ accelerator显示文摘Separated Function RFQ (SFRFQ) was proposed as a post accelerator of RFQ to accelerate heavy ions at low frequency. It introduces gap accelerating in the quadrupole electrodes, and therefore it has higher accelerating efficiency than the conventional RFQ accelerator. The first SFRFQ prototype cavity has been specially designed and constructed as a post accelerator to accelerate O+ beam from 1.03 MeV to 1.64 MeV. Based on accomplishment of low power measurement and high power test, the beam commissioning was carried out to verify its feasibility.
