Design and demonstration of a next-generation air quality attainment assessment system for PM_(2.5)and O_3显示文摘Due to the increasingly stringent standards, it is important to assess whether the proposed emission reduction will result in ambient concentrations that meet the standards. The Software for Model Attainment Test—Community Edition(SMAT-CE) is developed for demonstrating attainment of air quality standards of O3 and PM2.5. SMAT-CE improves computational efficiency and provides a number of advanced visualization and analytical functionalities on an integrated GIS platform. SMAT-CE incorporates historical measurements of air quality parameters and simulated air pollutant concentrations under a number of emission inventory scenarios to project the level of compliance to air quality standards in a targeted future year. An application case study of the software based on the U.S. National Ambient Air Quality Standards(NAAQS) shows that SMAT-CE is capable of demonstrating the air quality attainment of annual PM2.5and 8-hour O3 for a proposed emission control policy. | Hua Wang Yun Zhu Carey Jang Che-Jen Lin Shuxiao Wang Joshua S.Fu Jian Gao Shuang Deng Junping Xie Dian Ding Xuezhen Qiu Shicheng Long | 2015 | Journal of Environmental Sciences2015,27,3: | 11
A case study of development and application of a streamlined control and response modeling system for PM_(2.5)attainment assessment in China显示文摘This article describes the development and application of a streamlined air control and response modeling system with a novel response surface modeling-linear coupled fitting method and a new module to provide streamlined model data for PM_(2.5) attainment assessment in China. This method is capable of significantly reducing the dimensions required to establish a response surface model,as well as capturing more realistic response of PM_(2.5) to emission changes with a limited number of model simulations. The newly developed module establishes a data link between the system and the Software for Model Attainment Test—Community Edition(SMAT-CE),and has the ability to rapidly provide model responses to emission control scenarios for SMAT-CE using a simple interface. The performance of this streamlined system is demonstrated through a case study of the Yangtze River Delta(YRD) in China. Our results show that this system is capable of reproducing the Community Multi-Scale Air Quality(CMAQ) model simulation results with maximum mean normalized error < 3.5%.It is also demonstrated that primary emissions make a major contribution to ambient levels of PM_(2.5) in January and August(e.g.,more than50%contributed by primary emissions in Shanghai),and Shanghai needs to have regional emission control both locally and in its neighboring provinces to meet China's annual PM_(2.5)National Ambient Air Quality Standard. The streamlined system provides a real-time control/response assessment to identify the contributions of major emission sources to ambient PM_(2.5)(and potentially O_3 as well) and streamline air quality data for SMAT-CE to perform attainment assessments. | Shicheng Long Yun Zhu Carey Jang Che-Jen Lin Shuxiao Wang Bin Zhao Jian Gao Shuang Deng Junping Xie Xuezhen Qiu | 2016 | Journal of Environmental Sciences2016,28,3: | 9

Cancer metabolism and tumor microenvironment:fostering each other?显示文摘The changes associated with malignancy are not only in cancer cells but also in environment in which cancer cells live.Metabolic reprogramming supports tumor cells’high demand of biogenesis for their rapid proliferation, and helps tumor cells to survive under certain genetic or environmental stresses.Emerging evidence suggests that metabolic alteration is ultimately and tightly associated with genetic changes,in particular the dysregulation of key oncogenic and tumor suppressive signaling pathways.Cancer cells activate HIF signaling even in the presence of oxygen and in the absence of growth factor stimulation. This cancer metabolic phenotype, described firstly by German physiologist Otto Warburg, ensures enhanced glycolytic metabolism for the biosynthesis of macromolecules. The conception of metabolite signaling,i.e.,metabolites are regulators of cell signaling, provides novel insights into how reactive oxygen species(ROS)and other metabolites deregulation may regulate redox homeostasis, epigenetics, and proliferation of cancer cells. Moreover, the unveiling of noncanonical functions of metabolic enzymes, such as the moonlighting functions of phosphoglycerate kinase 1(PGK1),reassures the importance of metabolism in cancer development. The metabolic, microRNAs,and ncRNAs alterations in cancer cells can be sorted and delivered either to intercellular matrix or to cancer adjacent cells to shape cancer microenvironment via media such as exosome.Among them, cancer microenvironmental cells are immune cells which exert profound effects on cancer cells.Understanding of all these processes is a prerequisite for the development of a more effective strategy to contain cancers. | Yiyuan Yuan Huimin Li Wang Pu Leilei Chen Dong Guo Hongfei Jiang Bo He Siyuan Qin Kui Wang Na Li Jingwei Feng Jing Wen Shipeng Cheng Yaguang Zhang Weiwei Yang Dan Ye Zhimin Lu Canhua Huang Jun Mei Hua-Feng Zhang Ping Gao Peng Jiang Shicheng Su Bing Sun Shi-Min Zhao | 2022 | Science China(Life Sciences)2022,65,2: | 5

Constitutive androstane receptor induced-hepatomegaly and liver regeneration is partially via yes-associated protein activation显示文摘The constitutive androstane receptor(CAR, NR3 I1) belongs to nuclear receptor superfamily. It was reported that CAR agonist TCPOBOP induces hepatomegaly but the underlying mechanism remains largely unknown. Yes-associated protein(YAP) is a potent regulator of organ size. The aim of this study is to explore the role of YAP in CAR activation-induced hepatomegaly and liver regeneration.TCPOBOP-induced CAR activation on hepatomegaly and liver regeneration was evaluated in wildtype(WT) mice, liver-specific YAP-deficient mice, and partial hepatectomy(PHx) mice. The results demonstrate that TCPOBOP can increase the liver-to-body weight ratio in wild-type mice and PHx mice.Hepatocytes enlargement around central vein(CV) area was observed, meanwhile hepatocytesproliferation was promoted as evidenced by the increased number of KI67+cells around portal vein(PV)area. The protein levels of YAP and its downstream targets were upregulated in TCPOBOP-treated mice and YAP translocation can be induced by CAR activation. Co-immunoprecipitation results suggested a potential proteineprotein interaction of CAR and YAP. However, CAR activation-induced hepatomegaly can still be observed in liver-specific YAP-deficient(Yape/e) mice. In summary, CAR activation promotes hepatomegaly and liver regeneration partially by inducing YAP translocation and interaction with YAP signaling pathway, which provides new insights to further understand the physiological functions of CAR. | Yue Gao Shicheng Fan Hua Li Yiming Jiang Xinpeng Yao Shuguang Zhu Xiao Yang Ruimin Wang Jianing Tian Frank JGonzalez Min Huang Huichang Bi | 2021 | Acta Pharmaceutica Sinica B2021,11,3: | 2

YAP regulates the liver size during the fasting-refeeding transition in mice显示文摘Liver is the central hub regulating energy metabolism during feeding-fasting transition.Evidence suggests that fasting and refeeding induce dynamic changes in liver size, but the underlying mechanisms remain unclear.Yes-associated protein(YAP)is a key regulator of organ size. This study aims to explore the role of YAP in fasting-and refeeding-induced changes in liver size. Here, fasting significantly reduced liver size, which was recovered to the normal level after refeeding. Moreover, hepatocyte size was decreased and hepatocyte proliferation was inhibited after fasting.Conversely, refeeding promoted hepatocyte enlargement and proliferation compared to fasted state.Mechanistically, fasting or refeeding regulated the expression of YAP and its downstream targets,as well as the proliferation-related protein cyclin D1(CCND1).Furthermore,fasting significantly reduced the liver size in AAV-control mice, which was mitigated in AAV Yap(5SA)mice.Yap overexpression also prevented the effect of fasting on hepatocyte size and proliferation.Besides, the recovery of liver size after refeeding was delayed in AAV Yap shRNA mice.Yap knockdown attenuated refeeding-induced hepatocyte enlargement and proliferation. In summary, this study demonstrated that YAP plays an important role in dynamic changes of liver size during fasting-refeeding transition, which provides new evidence for YAP in regulating liver size under energy stress. | Xuan Li Shicheng Fan Chenghui Cai Yue Gao Xinhui Wang Yifei Zhang Hangfei Liang Huilin Li Jie Yang Min Huang Huichang Bi | 2023 | Acta Pharmaceutica Sinica B2023,13,4: | 1

The Influence of Typhoon'Hongxia'on the Intrusion of the Kuroshio Current into the South China Sea显示文摘This paper uses the Coupled Ocean-Atmosphere-Wave-Sediment Transport(COAWST)model to analyze the impact of typhoon‘Hongxia’on the velocity and position movement of the Kuroshio axis, the impact of typhoons on the Kuroshio intrusion into South China Sea(SCS),the corresponding water, heat, and salt fluxes, and the impact of Kuroshio water in the northeastern SCS.When typhoon‘Hongxia’passed, the Kuroshio intrusion into the SCS was the most significant at 21?N latitude. In the vertical direction, the Kuroshio intrusion was strongest in the subsurface layer, leading to the most significant changes in temperature and salinity in the northeastern part of the SCS in the subsurface layer.Under the influence of the southeastern monsoon in summer,a large amount of low-salinity water accumulates at the surface of the northeastern part of the SCS,and Kuroshio intrusive water remains in the bottom and middle portions of the subsurface layer. The westward deviation of the Kuroshio axis caused by the typhoon displays a certain lag compared with the hot and salty water intrusion into the SCS approximately 7 d later. The impact of the typhoon on the Kuroshio intrusion into the SCS lasts for 20 d.The typhoon caused increases in the water, heat, and salt fluxes associated with the Kuroshio intrusion into the SCS,and the contribution of the typhoon to these fluxes was as high as 40%.Under typhoon conditions, the maximum Kuroshio intrusion flux reached more than twice that before the typhoon. | GAO Shumin HAN Shuzong WANG Shicheng WU Dexing WANG Mingjie WU Kejian LIU Lili | 2023 | Journal of Ocean University of China2023,22,2: | 1

Ultra‑Efficient and Cost‑Effective Platinum Nanomembrane Electrocatalyst for Sustainable Hydrogen Production显示文摘Hydrogen production through hydrogen evolution reaction(HER)offers a promising solution to combat climate change by replacing fossil fuels with clean energy sources. However, the widespread adoption of efficient electrocatalysts, such as platinum(Pt),has been hindered by their high cost.In this study,we developed an easy-to-implement method to create ultrathin Pt nanomembranes, which catalyze HER at a cost significantly lower than commercial Pt/C and comparable to non-noble metal electrocatalysts. These Pt nanomembranes consist of highly distorted Pt nanocrystals and exhibit a heterogeneous elastic strain field,a characteristic rarely seen in conventional crystals. This unique feature results in significantly higher electrocatalytic efficiency than various forms of Pt electrocatalysts, including Pt/C,Pt foils, and numerous Pt singleatom or single-cluster catalysts. Our research offers a promising approach to develop highly efficient and cost-effective low-dimensional electrocatalysts for sustainable hydrogen production, potentially addressing the challenges posed by the climate crisis. | Xiang Gao Shicheng Dai Yun Teng Qing Wang Zhibo Zhang Ziyin Yang Minhyuk Park Hang Wang Zhe Jia Yunjiang Wang Yong Yang | 2024 | Nano-Micro Letters2024,16,6: | 0
Construction of a General Standard Molecule for the Qualitative Detection in Different Transgenic Foodcrops显示文摘Now every laboratory is facing a common problem that is seriously lacking in the standard reference molecule in the GMC detecting research center. Constructing the recombinant plasmid is the urgent demand. In order to overcome this problem, this study respectively cloned Cry1A(B), BAR, CP4-EPSPS, PAT and RBCL genes into PMD18-T vector. This constructed plasmid could be used as the standard reference molecule in the qualitative detecting of the exogenous CP4-EPSPS gene, Cry1A(B) gene, BAR gene and PAT gene. Identification by double restriction endonuclease digestion and identification by PCR proved that the test result was positive. All of these indicated that the established reference molecules in this study were suitable for the qualitative analysis standard of this GMC detection. | AO Jinxia GAO Xuejun YU Yanbo QU Bo YUAN Xiaohan LIU Ying GUO Shicheng | 2009 | Journal of Northeast Agricultural University(English Edition)2009,16,2: | 0

Local modulation of exc辻ons and trions in monolayer WS2 by carbon nanotubes显示文摘Mixed dimensional van der Waals(VdW)heterostructures constructed by one-dimensional(1D)and two-dimensional(2D)materials exhibit extra degree of freedom to modulate the electronic and optical properties due to the combination of difterent dimensionalities. The charge transfer at the intertace between 1D and 2D materials plays a crucial role in the optoelectronic properties and performance of the heterostructure-based devices. Here,we stacked single-walled carbon nanotubes(SWNTs)on monolayer WS2 for a mixed dimensional vdW heterostructure, and investigated the local modulation of excitions and trions in WS2 by SWNTs.Different directions of charge transfer between SWNTs and WSz are evidenced by the photoluminescence(PL)spectra of WS2.The PL intensity can be either enhanced or weakened by individual SWNTs.In our work, the PL intensity of WS2 is enhanced and the exciton peak position heterostructure is red-shifted about 3 meV due to the charge transfer from WS2 to an individual SWNT(SWNT#1).The change of PL by another SWNT(SWNT#2)can not be well-resolved in far fild, but scanning near field optical microscope(SNOM)measurements show that the PL intensity of WS2 is weakened by the SWNT.The peak position of exciton is blue-shifted by^1 meV while that of trion is redshifted by^1 meV due to the charge transfer from the SWNT to WS2,These results give insight into the charge transfer at the interface of SWNTWS2 heterostructure, and can be useful for design of optoelectronic devices based on mixed dimensional vdW heterostructures. | Rui Feng Shicheng Xu Weiming Liu Peng Gao Jin Zhang Lianming Tong | 2020 | Nano Research2020,13,7: | 0

Electronic properties of monolayer copper selenide with one-dimensional moirépatterns显示文摘Strain engineering is a vital way to manipulate the electronic properties of two-dimensional(2D)materials.As a typical representative of transition metal mono-chalcogenides(TMMs),a honeycomb CuSe monolayer features with one-dimensional(1D)moirépatterns owing to the uniaxial strain along one of three equivalent orientations of Cu(111)substrates.Here,by combining low-temperature scanning tunneling microscopy/spectroscopy(STM/S)experiments and density functional theory(DFT)calculations,we systematically investigate the electronic properties of the strained CuSe monolayer on the Cu(111)substrate.Our results show the semiconducting feature of CuSe monolayer with a band gap of 1.28 eV and the 1D periodical modulation of electronic properties by the 1D moirépatterns.Except for the uniaxially strained CuSe monolayer,we observed domain boundary and line defects in the CuSe monolayer, where the biaxial-strain and strain-free conditions can be investigated respectively.STS measurements for the three different strain regions show that the first peak in conduction band will move downward with the increasing strain.DFT calculations based on the three CuSe atomic models with different strain inside reproduced the peak movement. The present findings not only enrich the fundamental comprehension toward the influence of strain on electronic properties at 2D limit, but also offer the benchmark for the development of 2D semiconductor materials. | Gefei Niu Jianchen Lu Jianqun Geng Shicheng Li Hui Zhang Wei Xiong Zilin Ruan Yong Zhang Boyu Fu Lei Gao Jinming Cai | 2023 | Frontiers of physics2023,18,1: | 0
