| 1 | Plate convergence in the Indo-Pacific region显示文摘The Indo-Pacific convergence region is the best target to solve the teo remaining challenges of the plate tectonics theory,i.e.,subduction initiation and the driving force of plate tectonics.Recent studies proposed that the Izu-Bonin subduction initiation belongs to spontaneous initiation,which implies that it started from extension,followed by low angle subduction.Numerical geodynamic modeling suggests that the initiation of plate subduction likely occurred along a transform fault,which put the young spreading ridge in direct contact with old oceanic crust.This,however,does not explain the simultaneous subduction initiation in the west Pacific region in the Cenozoic.Namely,the subduction initiations in the Izu-BoninMariana,the Aleutian,and the Tonga-Kermadec trenches are associated with oceanic crusts of different ages,yet they occurred at roughly the same time,suggesting that they were all triggered by a maj or change in the Pacific plate.Moreover,low angle subduction induces compression rather than extension,which requires external compression forces.Given that the famous Hawaiian-Emperor bending occurred roughly at the same time with the onset of westward subductions in the west Pacific,we propose that these Cenozoic subductions were initiated by the steering of the Pacific plate,which are classified as induced initiation.Induced subduction initiation usually occurs in young ocean basins,forming single-track subduction.The closure s of Neo-Tethys Oceans were likely triggered by plume s in the south,forming northward subductions.Interestingly,the Indian plate kept on moving northward more than 50 Ma after the collision between the Indian and Eurasian continents and the break-off of the subducted oceanic slab attached to it.This strongly suggests that slab pull is not the main driving force of plate tectonics,whereas slab sliding is. | SUN Weidong ZHANG Lipeng LIAO Renqiang SUN Saijun LI Congying LIU He | 2020 | Journal of Oceanology and Limnology2020,38,4: | 4 |
| 2 | The velocity structure of the Yinggehai Basin and its hydrocarbon implication显示文摘Two profiles of refraction and wide_angle reflection were completed in the Yinggehai Basin using ocean bottom hydrophones (OBHs) as receiver. These profiles reveal a low velocity layer (LVL) to the west of No. 1 Fault in the basin, with velocity of 3.0-3.5 km/s. Its upper interface lies at 3.5 km below the sea bottom at the NE end of the profiles, and deepens southwestward to 4 6 km near the axis of the basin. It coincides with the top of a gas_bearing, high_pressure layer defined by well logging. This suggests that the LVL is a layer of less_compacted and gas_charged sediments. The lower interface of the LVL is about 9 km in depth. Sediments above the LVL have velocity varying from 2 0 to 4 1 km/s. The acoustic basement is found only east of No. 1 Fault, with velocity of 5 8-6 2 km/s. A NNW_SSE_running OBH seismic profile across the Xisha Trough was completed on the same cruise. | 4 | Abundance,Diversity and Functional Potentials of Planktonic Bacteria and Microeukaryotes in the Coral-Reef System of Xisha Islands,China显示文摘Corals influence microorganisms within the surrounding seawater,yet the diversities and functions of seawater bacteria and microeukaryotes in coral-reef systems have not been well addressed.We collected 40 seawater samples in outer coral reef flats and semi-closed inner lagoons from the surface,middle and bottom layers in the pristine coral-reef system of Xisha Islands,South China Sea.We detected the abundance,composition and distribution of bacteria and microeukaryotes using flow cytometry,qPCR and high throughput sequencing techniques,and profiled the potential ecological roles based on the information of 16S and 18S rDNA sequencing.In terms of flow cytometry,Prochlorococcus dominated the autotrophs with cell abundance ranging from 5.8×10^(2)to 5.44×10^(3)cells mL−1 seawater.Based on qPCR,the 16S rDNA copies were much higher in coral reef flats than in lagoons(P=0.003).The bacterial communities held significantly lower diversity in bottom waters compared with surface and middle waters(P<0.05),which were dominated by SAR11,Flavobacteriales,and Synechococcus.Alveolata represented most of the microeukaryotic communities with Dinophyceae and Syndiniales well represented in all samples.Neither bacterial nor microeukaryotic community exhibited distinct layer or niche pattern,however,Haptophyta and Picozoa decreased with depth and SAR 86,MAST-3 and Picozoa were enriched in lagoons(P<0.05).To adapt the nutrient-poor and organic matter-rich environment,bacterial nitrogen fixation and assimilatory/dissimilatory nitrate reduction were active in the system,and mixotrophy was the most important trophic strategy among microeukaryotes.The study highlighted the ecological adaptability of seawater microbes to the unique coral-reef environments. | ZHANG Xiaoli WANG Lei PENG Saijun WUZHONG Qiyue ZHANG Lei DONG Zhijun SUN Tingting LIU Ping ZHANG Qianqian ZHAO Jianmin | 2022 | Journal of Ocean University of China2022,21,3: | 1 |

| 6 | Identification of a novel COL4A5 mutation in the proband initially diagnosed as Ig AN from a Chinese family with X-linked Alport syndrome显示文摘Alport syndrome(AS) is a hereditary progressive nephropathy characterized by hematuria, ultrastructural lesions of the glomerular basement membrane, ocular lesions and sensorineural hearing loss. Germline mutations of COL4 A5 are associated with X-linked AS with an extreme phenotypic heterogeneity. Here, we investigated a Chinese family with Alport syndrome. The proband was a 9-year-old boy with hematuria and proteinuria. Based on the test results of renal biopsy and immunofluorescence,the proband was initially diagnosed as Ig A nephropathy and the treatment was recommended accordingly. Meanwhile, we found that the treatment outcome was poor. Therefore, for proper clinical diagnosis and appropriate treatment, targeted exome-based next-generation sequencing has been undertaken. We identified a novel hemizygous single nucleotide deletion c.1902 del A in COL4 A5 gene. Segregation analysis identified that this novel mutation is co-segregated among the affected family members but absent in unaffected family members. The clinical diagnosis of the proband was revised as AS accompanied by Ig A nephropathy,which has been rarely reported. | 7 | Molecular identifi cation and population diff erentiation of Aurelia spp.ephyrae in sea cucumber aquaculture ponds of northern China显示文摘Aurelia spp.ephyrae have been reported to form blooms in sea cucumber aquaculture ponds in the Bohai and Yellow Seas.To identify the species,we carried out a genetic analysis of Aurelia spp.ephyrae and medusae based on mitochondrial 16 S rRNA gene.Samples offour Aurelia sp.ephyrae populations were collected in sea cucumber aquaculture ponds and samples offour Aurelia sp.medusae populations were collected in coastal waters.Using a BLASTn search,we found that both the ephyrae collected in the aquaculture ponds and medusae collected in coastal waters belong to Aurelia coerulea.Seventeen haplotypes were recovered from the 16 S rRNA gene.The overall haplotype diversity and nucleotide diversity of the 166 A.coerulea individuals were 0.686%and 0.329%,respectively,indicating high haplotype diversity and low nucleotide diversity.Moreover,the haplotype diversity of ephyrae populations were generally lower than that of medusae populations with close sampling points.The genetic differentiation between ephyrae populations collected in the sea cucumber aquaculture ponds and A.coerulea medusae collected in coastal waters was not significant,suggesting the ephyrae populations in the sea cucumber culture ponds were part of the same genetic group as the medusae populations in the coastal waters.Phylogeographic analysis of the 16 S rRNA region revealed that there was no significant correlation between the haplotypes and the geographic distribution of populations.Pairwise fixation index values showed significant genetic differentiation and limited gene flow between A.coerulea population of Weifang and other locations. | Saijun PENG Qingqing LIU Lei WANG Tingting SUN Tamara SHIGANOVA Zhijun DONG | 2021 | Journal of Oceanology and Limnology2021,39,3: | 0 |
| 8 | Experimental constraints on trace element partitioning between coesite and hydrous silicate melt at 5 GPa and 1500-1750℃显示文摘Trace element partitioning between coesite and hydrous silicate melt has been investigated at 5 GPa and 1500-1750℃.High-P experiments successfully produced large coesite crystals in equilibrium with large silicate melt pools(plus kyanite and corundum crystals in some cases).Scanning electron microscopy and micro-Raman spectroscopy were employed to characterize the phases and the textures.Wavelength-dispersive electron microprobe analyses were performed to quantify conventional major elements,and laser ablation-inductively coupled plasma-mass spectrometry analyses were successfully conducted to quantify trace elements.Eventually,high-P partition coefficients were obtained for 33 elements.In general coesite is a very pure phase.With a few possible exceptions like Sc,Ti,and V,nearly all other trace elements are incompatible in coesite.Moreover,the partitioning behaviors of nearly all trace elements except some 4+cations cannot be readily described by the lattice strain model,presumably implying a minor role for the cation size in the trace-element partitioning.Combining our experimental results with the results in the literature,some T and P effects on the element partitioning behavior have been observed:T seemingly has different effects on different trace elements,but P might negatively correlate with the partition coefficients in all cases.Due to its large modal fraction in some subducted materials such as the continental crustal material,coesite might play an important role in the distributions of some trace elements,Ti for example. | Wei YAN Xi LIU Saijun SUN Weidong SUN Dan WU | 2021 | Science China Earth Sciences2021,64,7: | 0 |
| 9 | Genetic diversity,population structure and core collection analysis of Hunan tea plant germplasm through genotyping-by-sequencing显示文摘Tea is considered to be a well-known and widely consumed beverage and Hunan province is rich in tea plant germplasm.In order to better conserve and utilize Hunan tea plant resources,110 tea accessions from seven geographical origins were used to assess genetic diversity of Hunan tea plant germplasm through genotyping by sequencing(GBS)technology.As a result,a total of 311,044 high-quality single nucleotide polymorphism(SNP)markers were obtained.Population structure,phylogenetic relationships and principal component analysis(PCA)divided the entire accessions into three groups.The genetic diversity and population differentiation analysis showed that the mean observed heterozygosity(Ho)ranged from 0.16 to 0.24,while the mean polymorphic information content(PIC)ranged from 0.14 to 0.17,and mean minor allele frequency(MAF)ranged from 0.11 to 0.14.Analysis of molecular variance(AMOVA)indicated that 81.38%of the total variance was derived from within populations,which suggested a rich genetic diversity in Hunan tea germplasms.Furthermore,a core tea germplasm set was developed,which was comprised of 22 tea plant accessions and maintained the whole genetic diversity of the entire collection.This work should be valuable for conservation and utilization of tea germplasm in Hunan。 | Feiyi Huang Jihua Duan Yu Lei Zhen Liu Yankai Kang Yi Luo Yingyu Chen Youyong Li Shuoqian Liu Saijun Li Zhonghua Liu | 2022 | Beverage Plant Research2022,2,1: | 0 |
