| 1 | Incidence and mortality of thyroid cancer in China, 2008-2012显示文摘Objective: To analyze the incidence and mortality rates of thyroid cancer(TC) in China from 2008 to 2012.Methods: Incident and death cases of TC were retrieved from the National Central Cancer Registry(NCCR)database collecting from 135 cancer registries in China during 2008-2012. The crude incidence and mortality rates of TC were calculated by area(urban/rural), region(eastern, middle, western), gender and age group(0, 1-4, 5-9,…, 85+). China census in 2000 and world Segi's population were applied for age-standardized rates. Joinpoint(Version 4.6.0.0) model was used for time-trend analysis.Results: The crude incidence rate of TC was 7.56/100,000 which ranked the seventh in overall cancers. The agestandardized incidence rates by China population(ASIRC) and by World population(ASIRW) were 6.25/100,000 and 5.52/100,000, respectively. The crude mortality of TC in China was 0.52/100,000. The age-standardized mortality rates by Chinese standard population(ASMRC) and by world standard population(ASMRW) were0.34/100,000 and 0.32/100,000, respectively. Incidence and mortality rates of TC were higher in females than in males and higher in urban areas than in rural areas. Eastern areas had the highest incidence followed by middle and western areas. TC incidence increased dramatically after age of 15 years, then peaked at 14.08/100,000 in the group of 50-54 years and finally decreased sharply after 55 years old. TC mortality increased with age in population,reaching the peak of 5.09/100,000 in sub-population aged 85 years or older. TC incidence increased by 4.73 times from 2.40/100,000 in 2003 to 13.75/100,000 in 2012 with an average annual increase of 20%, while TC mortality only increased slightly around 0.32/100,000 from 0.26/100,000 to 0.36/100,000.Conclusions: Appropriate targeted prevention, early detection and treatment programs can be carried out to curb the rapid growth trend of TC and control the disease burden. | Lingbin Du Runhua Li Minghua Ge Youqing Wang Huizhang Li Wanqing Chen Jie He | 2019 | Chinese Journal of Cancer Research2019,31,1: | 31 |
| 2 | Performance and microbial diversity of an expanded granular sludge bed reactor for high sulfate and nitrate waste brine treatment显示文摘The disposal of waste brines has become a major challenge that hinders the wide application of ionexchange resins in the water industry in recent decades. In this study, high sulfate removal efficiency(80%–90%) was achieved at the influent sulfate concentration of 3600 mg/L and 3% NaCl after 145 days in an expanded granular sludge bed(EGSB) reactor. Furthermore, the feasibility of treating synthetic waste brine containing high levels of sulfate and nitrate was investigated in a single EGSB reactor during an operation period of 261 days. The highest nitrate and sulfate loading rate reached 6.38 and 5.78 kg/(m3·day) at SO2-4-S/NO-3-N mass ratio of 4/3, and the corresponding removal efficiency was 99.97% and 82.26% at 3% NaCl, respectively. Meanwhile, 454-pyrosequencing technology was used to analyze the bacterial diversity of the sludge on the 240th day for stable operation of phase X. Results showed that a total of 9194 sequences were obtained, which could be affiliated to 14 phyla, including Proteobacteria, Firmicutes, Chlorobi, Bacteroidetes, Synergistetes and so on. | 3 | Effects of Shuanghuanglian oral liquids on patients with COVID-19:a randomized,open-label,parallel-controlled,multicenter clinical trial显示文摘We conducted a randomized,open-label,parallel-controlled,multicenter trial on the use of Shuanghuanglian(SHL),a traditional Chinese patent medicine,in treating cases of COVID-19.A total of 176 patients received SHL by three doses(56 in low dose,61 in middle dose,and 59 in high dose)in addition to standard care.The control group was composed of 59 patients who received standard therapy alone.Treatment with SHL was not associated with a difference from standard care in the time to disease recovery.Patients with 14-day SHL treatment had significantly higher rate in negative conversion of SARS-CoV-2 in nucleic acid swab tests than the patients from the control group(93.4%vs.73.9%,P=0.006).Analysis of chest computed tomography images showed that treatment with high-dose SHL significantly promoted absorption of inflammatory focus of pneumonia,which was evaluated by density reduction of inflammatory focus from baseline,at day 7(mean difference(95%CI),−46.39(−86.83 to−5.94)HU;P=0.025)and day 14(mean difference(95%CI),−74.21(−133.35 to−15.08)HU;P=0.014).No serious adverse events occurred in the SHL groups.This study illustrated that SHL in combination with standard care was safe and partially effective for the treatment of COVID-19. | Li Ni Zheng Wen Xiaowen Hu Wei Tang Haisheng Wang Ling Zhou Lujin Wu Hong Wang Chang Xu Xizhen Xu Zhichao Xiao Zongzhe Li Chene Li Yujian Liu Jialin Duan Chen Chen Dan Li Runhua Zhang Jinliang Li Yongxiang Yi Wei Huang Yanyan Chen Jianping Zhao Jianping Zuo Jianping Weng Hualiang Jiang Dao Wen Wang | 2021 | Frontiers of Medicine2021,15,5: | 7 |

| 5 | Management characteristics and prognosis after stroke in China:findings from a large nationwide stroke registry显示文摘Background and purpose There is limited nationwide evidence about the standard management characteristics of stroke types and prognosis in China.This study aimed to assess clinical characteristics,in-hospital and after-discharge management characteristics and prognosis for stroke types in China.Methods A nationwide registry recruited 14244 imaging-confirmed first-ever incident strokes from 132 hospitals across 31 provinces of China during 2007-2008,recording presenting characteristics,diagnostic procedures and in-hospital treatment.After hospital discharge,patients were followed up for 6 months.Conventional statistical methods were used to examine the patterns of management and prognosis.Results Overall,68.7%,26.9%and 4.4%were ischaemic stroke(IS),intracerebral haemorrhage(ICH),and subarachnoid haemorrhage(SAH),respectively.Only 20%were managed in a dedicated stroke unit.Among IS,1.3%received thrombolysis within 3 hours after symptom onset,whereas the proportions of receiving in-hospital antiplatelet therapy,neuroprotective agents and traditional Chinese medicines(TCM)were 88.4%,69.7%and 70.6%,respectively.For ICH,63.3%and 36.3%received neuroprotective agents and TCM in hospital,respectively.At discharge,70.7%and 38.0%of the patients with IS were given antiplatelet and statin therapies,respectively,decreasing to 64.8%and 23.9%,respectively,at 6 months.In-hospital mortality was 3.2%,9.3%and 10.1%for IS,ICH and SAH,respectively,with a further 8.6%,18.2%and 22.0%,respectively,died by 6 month.Meanwhile,in-hospital recurrence rate was 2.6%,1.9%and 7.2%for IS,ICH and SAH,respectively,with a further 8.0%,5.1%and 7.5%,respectively,recurred by 6 month.Conclusions In China,the mortality rate of stroke is lower than that reported from west populations,though most strokes are not managed in specialised stroke unit.There is widespread use of some unproven therapies but limited proven treatments,especially after discharge,leading to unnecessary recurrent risks. | Haiqiang Qin Yiping Chen Gaifen Liu Iain Turnbull Runhua Zhang Zixiao Li Yilong Wang Liping Liu Xingquan Zhao Zhengming Chen Yongjun Wang | 2021 | Stroke & Vascular Neurology2021,6,1: | 3 |

| 7 | Synthesis of ZSM-5 zeolite membranes without organic templates using a varying-concentration technique显示文摘Template-free nanosized ZSM-5 seeds with an average size of 15 nm were prepared from a synthesis solution with the composition 12Na2O∶100SiO2∶2Al2O3∶2500H2O. By the use of these seeds, thin ZSM-5 zeolite membranes were prepared on the outer surface of a porous α-alumina tube with a pore size of 2 μm in a gel system by varying-concentration synthesis with organic-free template. The first composition synthesis sol-gel was the same as seeds of molar composition and the second one was 12Na2O∶100SiO2∶2Al2O3∶5000H2O at 180 ℃ for 10 h, respectively. XRD shows that the film consists of well-crystallized ZSM-5 zeolite. SEM investigation indicats that the zeolite films on the supports are defect free and the film thickness is approximately 8 μm. The permeances for H2, N2, CH4 and CO2 are 8.94×10-7, 3.27×10-7, 3.9×10-7, 3.14×10-7 and 0.874×10-7 mol·m2·s-1·Pa-1, respectively.
