| 1 | Minimally invasive surgery alone compared with intensity-modulated radiotherapy for primary stage I nasopharyngeal carcinoma显示文摘Background:The National Comprehensive Cancer Network guidelines recommend intensity-modulated radiotherapy(IMRT)as the primary curative treatment for newly diagnosed nasopharyngeal carcinoma(NPC),but the radiation-related complications and relatively high medical costs remain a consequential burden for the patients.Endoscopic nasopharyngectomy(ENPG)was successfully applied in recurrent NPC with radiation free and relatively low medical costs.In this study,we examined whether ENPG could be an effective treatment for localized stage I NPC.Methods:Ten newly diagnosed localized stage I NPC patients voluntarily received ENPG alone from June 2007 to September 2017 in Sun Yat-sen University Cancer Center.Simultaneously,the data of 329 stage I NPC patients treated with IMRT were collected and used as a reference cohort.The survival outcomes,quality of life(QOL),and medical costs between two groups were compared.Results:After a median follow-up of 59.0 months(95%CI 53.4-64.6),no death,locoregional recurrence,or distant metastasis was observed in the 10 patients treated with ENPG.The 5-year overall survival,local relapse-free survival,regional relapse-free survival,and distant metastasis-free survival among the ENPG-treated patients was similar to that among the IMRT-treated patients(100%vs.99.1%,100%vs.97.7%,100%vs.99.0%,100%vs.97.4%,respectively,P>0.05).In addition,compared with IMRT,ENPG was associated with decreased total medical costs($4090.42±1502.65 vs.$12620.88±4242.65,P<0.001)and improved QOL scores including dry mouth(3.3±10.5 vs.34.4±25.8,P<0.001)and sticky saliva(3.3±10.5 vs.32.6±23.3,P<0.001).Conclusions:ENPG alone was associated with promising long-term survival outcomes,low medical costs,and satisfactory QOL and might therefore be an alternative strategy for treating newly diagnosed localized stage I NPC patients who refused radiotherapy.However,the application of ENPG should be prudent,and prospective clinical tri-als were needed to further verify the results. | You-Ping Liu Xing Lv Xiong Zou Yi-Jun Hua Rui You Qi Yang Le Xia Shao-Yan Guo Wen Hu Meng-Xia Zhang Si-Yuan Chen Mei Lin Yu-Long Xie Li-Zhi Liu Rui Sun Pei-Yu Huang Wei Fan Xiang Guo Ming-Huang Hong Ming-Yuan Chen | 2019 | Cancer Communications2019,39,1: | 17 |
| 2 | Generating dense and super-resolution ISAR image by combining bandwidth extrapolation and compressive sensing显示文摘Recent developing compressive sensing (CS) theory indicates that it is possible to obtain precise recovery of a sparse signal from very limited measurements,which provides a new way for data acquisition and signal processing as nature signals usually involve some degree of sparsity.In this paper,we present an algorithm for inversed synthetic aperture radar (ISAR) imaging with super resolution by combining CS and bandwidth extrapolation (BWE) technique.For ISAR imaging,the backscattering field of target is usually contributed by a few strong scattering centers,whose number is much less than that of image pixels.Thus,CS is intuitively suitable for constructing super resolution ISAR image.According to CS theory,the number of extracted dominating scatterers relies on the signal length,which indicates that if only limited data is available,it is difficult to generate dense ISAR image robustly by CS,and some signal components tend to lose.To soften this constraint,BWE is combined with CS imaging to increase the degree of freedom of signal while preserving its coherence.A refined CS-based formation for ISAR image-resolution enhancement is then developed.Both real and simulated data experiments are performed to evaluate the proposed approach,and an example of using this technique demonstrates the enhanced image resolution in application of maneuvering target imaging. | QUAN YingHui ZHANG Lei GUO Rui XING MengDao BAO Zheng | 2011 | Science China(Information Sciences)2011,54,10: | 15 |
| 3 | Effect of Shoushen granule on arterial elasticity in patients with carotid atherosclerosis:a clinical randomized controlled trial显示文摘OBJECTIVE: To investigate the effectiveness of Shoushen granule,Chinese herbal preparation,on carotid artery elasticity in patients with carotid atherosclerosis.METHODS: The total of 156 carotid atherosclerosis patients were randomly divided into the intervention group(83 cases,treated with Shoushen granule) and the control group(73 cases,treated with pravastatin). Brachial-ankle pulse wave velocity(ba PWV) and Ankle-Brachial Pressure Index(ABI)were measured by automated arteriosclerosis detector. The changes of common carotid artery intima-media thickness(IMT) and parameters of the carotid artery elasticity in patients,including stiffness parameter(β),pressure-strain elastic modulus(Ep),arterial compliance(Ac),augmentation index(AI),and pulse wave velocity β(PWVβ) were detected by Echo-Tracking(ET) technique before and after 24 week treatment. In the meantime,levels of blood lipid,and liver and renal function were measured respectively.RESULTS: After 24 weeks,ba PWV,IMT and parameters of the carotid artery elasticity(β,Ep,AI and PWVβ) were markedly decreased in intervention group compared with those of before treatment(P < 0.01),but the level of Ac was increased significantly(P < 0.01). | 4 | Management of granulomatous lobular mastitis: an international multidisciplinary consensus(2021 edition)显示文摘Granulomatous lobular mastitis(GLM) is a rare and chronic benign inflammatory disease of the breast. Difficulties exist in the management of GLM for many front-line surgeons and medical specialists who care for patients with inflammatory disorders of the breast. This consensus is summarized to establish evidence-based recommendations for the management of GLM. Literature was reviewed using PubMed from January 1, 1971 to July 31, 2020. Sixty-six international experienced multidisciplinary experts from 11 countries or regions were invited to review the evidence.Levels of evidence were determined using the American College of Physicians grading system, and recommendations were discussed until consensus. Experts discussed and concluded 30 recommendations on historical definitions,etiology and predisposing factors, diagnosis criteria, treatment, clinical stages, relapse and recurrence of GLM. GLM was recommended as a widely accepted definition. In addition, this consensus introduced a new clinical stages and management algorithm for GLM to provide individual treatment strategies. In conclusion, diagnosis of GLM depends on a combination of history, clinical manifestations, imaging examinations, laboratory examinations and pathology.The approach to treatment of GLM should be applied according to the different clinical stage of GLM. | 5 | Procalcitionin as a diagnostic marker to distinguish upper and lower gastrointestinal perforation显示文摘AIM To assess the accuracy of serum procalcitionin(PCT)as a diagnostic marker in verifying upper and lower gastrointestinal perforation(GIP).METHODS This retrospective study included 46 patients from the surgical intensive care unit(ICU)of the Second Affiliated Hospital of Harbin Medical University who were confirmed to have GIP between June 2013 and December 2016.Demographic and clinical patient data were recorded on admission to ICU.Patients were divided into upper(n=19)and lower(n=27)GIP groups according to the perforation site(above or below Treitz ligament).PCT and WBC count was obtained before laparotomy and then compared between groups.Meanwhile,the diagnostic accuracy of PCT was analyzed.RESULTS Patients with lower GIP exhibited significantly higher APACHE II score,SOFA score and serum PCT level than patients with upper GIP(P=0.017,0.004,and0.001,respectively).There was a significant positive correlation between serum PCT level and APACHE II score or SOFA score(r=0.715 and r=0.611,respectively),while there was a significant negative correlation between serum PCT level and prognosis(r=-0.414).WBC count was not significantly different between the two groups,and WBC count showed no significant correlation with serum PCT level,APACHE II score,SOFA score or prognosis.The area under the receiver operating characteristic curve of PCT level to distinguish upper or lower GIP was 0.778.Patients with a serum PCT level above 17.94 ng/d L had a high likelihood of lower GIP,with a sensitivity of 100%and a specificity of 42.1%.CONCLUSION Serum PCT level is a reliable and accurate diagnostic marker in identifying upper or lower GIP before laparotomy. | Yang Gao Kai-Jiang Yu Kai Kang Hai-Tao Liu Xing Zhang Rui Huang Jing-Dong Qu Si-Cong Wang Rui-Jin Liu Yan-Song Liu Hong-Liang Wang | 2017 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2017,23,24: | 12 |
| 6 | Olfactory ecto-mesenchymal stem cell-derived exosomes ameliorate murine Sjögren’s syndrome by modulating the function of myeloid-derived suppressor cells显示文摘Sjögren’s syndrome(SS)is a systemic autoimmune disease characterized by progressive inflammation and tissue damage in salivary glands and lacrimal glands.Our previous studies showed that myeloid-derived suppressor cells(MDSCs)exhibited impaired immunosuppressive function during disease progression in patients with SS and mice with experimental Sjögren’s syndrome(ESS),but it remains unclear whether restoring the function of MDSCs can effectively ameliorate the development of ESS.In this study,we found that murine olfactory ecto-mesenchymal stem cell-derived exosomes(OE-MSC-Exos)significantly enhanced the suppressive function of MDSCs by upregulating arginase expression and increasing ROS and NO levels.Moreover,treatment with OE-MSC-Exos via intravenous injection markedly attenuated disease progression and restored MDSC function in ESS mice.Mechanistically,OE-MSC-Exo-secreted IL-6 activated the Jak2/Stat3 pathway in MDSCs.In addition,the abundant S100A4 in OE-MSC-Exos acted as a key factor in mediating the endogenous production of IL-6 by MDSCs via TLR4 signaling,indicating an autocrine pathway of MDSC functional modulation by IL-6.Taken together,our results demonstrated that OE-MSC-Exos possess therapeutic potential to attenuate ESS progression by enhancing the immunosuppressive function of MDSCs,possibly constituting a new strategy for the treatment of Sjögren’s syndrome and other autoimmune diseases. | Ke Rui Yue Hong Qiugang Zhu Xiaofei Shi Fan Xiao Hailong Fu Qing Yin Yida Xing Xinfeng Wu Xiaodan Kong Huaxi Xu Jie Tian Shengjun Wang Liwei Lu | 2021 | Cellular & Molecular Immunology2021,18,2: | 12 |
| 7 | Effect of Chinese Medicine on No or Slow Reflow after Percutaneous Coronary Intervention in Myocardial Infarction Patients: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis显示文摘Objective:To systematic review the effect of Chinese medicine(CM)on no or slow reflow after percutaneous coronary intervention(PCI)in myocardial infarction(MI)patients.Methods:The Pub Med,EMBASE databases,Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials(CENTRAL),Web of Science,China National Knowledge Infrastructure(CNKI),Chinese BioMedical Literature Database(CBM),Wanfang Knowledge Service Platform(Wanfang Database)and Chinese Scientific Journal Database(VIP)were searched up to December 2017.Randomized controlled trials(RCTs)which evaluated the effect of CM therapies on no or slow reflow after PCI in MI patients were included.The primary outcome was the effect of reperfusion.Secondary outcomes were left ventricular ejection fraction,incidence of major adverse cardiovascular events and adverse effect.Results:Ten RCTs covering 814 patients were included.Two studies revealed that the incidence of no or slow reflow was less in Shenmai Injection(参麦注射液)group than in the control group measured by thrombolysis in myocardial infarction(TIMI)2(risk ratio=0.55,95%confidence interval 0.38 to 0.81,P=0.003,I^2=37%).Two studies indicated that Salvianolate Injection showed no additional benefit on no or slow reflow measured by corrected TIMI frame count compared with the conventional treatment(mean difference–4.24,95% confidence interval–13.03 to 4.54,P=0.34,I^2=86%).In addition,Tongxinluo Capsules(通心络胶囊),Danhong Injection(丹红注射液)and Xuesaitong Injection(血塞通注射液)may have the potential to reduce no or slow reflow measured during or after PCI in individual studies.Conclusions:Current evidence from RCTs are not sufficient to evaluate the effect of CM adjuvant therapies on no or slow reflow after PCI for MI patients.The included studies are limited by small sample size and unclear baseline conditions.Further rigorously designed researches and verification studies with sufficient number of patients are warranted. | ZHANG Xiao-yu SUN Yang YANG Xin-yu HU Jia-yuan ZHENG Rui CHEN Shi-qi LI Min LI Cheng-yu JIANG Yin LIU Shuo ZHAO Chen XING Yan-wei SHANG Hong-cai | 2020 | Chinese Journal of Integrative Medicine2020,26,3: | 11 |

| 9 | Decolorization of Methyl Orange by a new clay-supported nanoscale zero-valent iron:Synergetic effect,efficiency optimization and mechanism显示文摘In this study, a novel nanoscale zero-valent iron(n ZVI) composite material was successfully synthesized using a low-cost natural clay, 'Hangjin 2#clay'(HJ clay) as the support and tested for the decolorization of the azo dye Methyl Orange(MO) in aqueous solution by n ZVI particles. According to the characterization and MO decolorization experiments, the sample with 5:1 HJ clay-supported n ZVI(HJ/n ZVI) mass ratio(HJ-n ZVI5) showed the best dispersion and reactivity and the highest MO decolorization efficiency. With the same equivalent Fe0 dosage, the HJ-n ZVI1 and HJ-n ZVI5 samples demonstrated a synergetic effect for the decolorization of MO: their decolorization efficiencies were much higher than that achieved by physical mixing of HJ clay and n ZVIs, or the sum of HJ clay and n ZVIs alone. The synergetic effect was primarily due to the improved dispersion and more effective utilization of the n ZVI particles on/in the composite materials. Higher decolorization efficiency of MO was obtained at larger HJ-n ZVI dosage, higher temperature and under N2 atmosphere, while the MO initial concentration and p H were negatively correlated to the efficiency. HJ clay not only works as a carrier for n ZVI nanoparticles, but also contributes to the decolorization through an 'adsorption-enhanced reduction' mechanism. | 10 | Development and validation of an endoscopic images-based deep learning model for detection with nasopharyngeal malignancies显示文摘Background:Due to the occult anatomic location of the nasopharynx and frequent presence of adenoid hyperpla-sia,the positive rate for malignancy identification during biopsy is low,thus leading to delayed or missed diagnosis for nasopharyngeal malignancies upon initial attempt.Here,we aimed to develop an artificial intelligence tool to detect nasopharyngeal malignancies under endoscopic examination based on deep learning.Methods:An endoscopic images-based nasopharyngeal malignancy detection model(eNPM-DM)consisting of a fully convolutional network based on the inception architecture was developed and fine-tuned using separate training and validation sets for both classification and segmentation.Briefly,a total of 28,966 qualified images were collected.Among these images,27,536 biopsy-proven images from 7951 individuals obtained from January 1st,2008,to December 31st,2016,were split into the training,validation and test sets at a ratio of 7:1:2 using simple randomiza-tion.Additionally,1430 images obtained from January 1st,2017,to March 31st,2017,were used as a prospective test set to compare the performance of the established model against oncologist evaluation.The dice similarity coef-ficient(DSC)was used to evaluate the efficiency of eNPM-DM in automatic segmentation of malignant area from the background of nasopharyngeal endoscopic images,by comparing automatic segmentation with manual segmenta-tion performed by the experts.Results:All images were histopathologically confirmed,and included 5713(19.7%)normal control,19,107(66.0%)nasopharyngeal carcinoma(NPC),335(1.2%)NPC and 3811(13.2%)benign diseases.The eNPM-DM attained an overall accuracy of 88.7%(95%confidence interval(CI)87.8%-89.5%)in detecting malignancies in the test set.In the prospective comparison phase,eNPM-DM outperformed the experts:the overall accuracy was 88.0%(95%CI 86.1%-89.6%)vs.80.5%(95%CI 77.0%-84.0%).The eNPM-DM required less time(40 s vs.110.0±5.8 min)and exhibited encouraging performance in automatic segmentation of nasopharyngeal malignant area from the background,with an average DSC of 0.78±0.24 and 0.75±0.26 in the test and prospective test sets,respectively.Conclusions:The eNPM-DM outperformed oncologist evaluation in diagnostic classification of nasopharyngeal mass into benign versus malignant,and realized automatic segmentation of malignant area from the background of nasopharyngeal endoscopic images. | Chaofeng Li Bingzhong Jing Liangru Ke Bin Li Weixiong Xia Caisheng He Chaonan Qian Chong Zhao Haiqiang Mai Mingyuan Chen Kajia Cao Haoyuan Mo Ling Guo Qiuyan Chen Linquan Tang Wenze Qiu Yahui Yu Hu Liang Xinjun Huang Guoying Liu Wangzhong Li Lin Wang Rui Sun Xiong Zou Shanshan Guo Peiyu Huang Donghua Luo Fang Qiu Yishan Wu Yijun Hua Kuiyuan Liu Shuhui Lv Jingjing Miao Yanqun Xiang Ying Sun Xiang Guo Xing Lv | 2018 | Cancer Communications2018,38,1: | 9 |
| 11 | Ursolic acid induces U937 cells differentiation by PI3K/Akt pathway activation显示文摘AIM: Ursolic acid(UA), a pentacyclic triterpenoid, is used as an anti-inflammatory and anti-cancer agent. There were few studies on the effects of UA on differentiation, and this is the first time to elucidate the potential effect and molecular mechanism of UA on inducing differentiation in the human leukemia cell line U937. METHODS: Wright-Giemsa staining, nitroblue tetrazolium reduction assay and flow cytometric analysis were utilized to demonstrate the differentiation of U937 cells induced by UA. Western blotting and immunofluorescence assay were used to investigate the possible mechanism. RESULTS: It was found that UA could induce the differentiation of U937cells and Akt-activity was significantly increased during differentiation. Additionally, LY294002, a PI3K-Akt inhibitor, could block the differentiation of U937 cells induced by UA. | 12 | Effects of acute kidney injury on acute pancreatitis patients’ survival rate in intensive care unit: A retrospective study显示文摘BACKGROUND Acute kidney injury(AKI)is one of the most common acute pancreatitis(AP)-associated complications that has a significant effect on AP,but the factors affecting the AP patients’survival rate remains unclear.AIM To assess the influences of AKI on the survival rate in AP patients.METHODS A total of 139 AP patients were included in this retrospective study.Patients were divided into AKI group(n=72)and non-AKI group(n=67)according to the occurrence of AKI.Data were collected from medical records of hospitalized patients.Then,these data were compared between the two groups and further analysis was performed.RESULTS AKI is more likely to occur in male AP patients(P=0.009).AP patients in AKI group exhibited a significantly higher acute physiologic assessment and chronic health evaluation II score,higher Sequential Organ Failure Assessment score,lower Glasgow Coma Scale score,and higher demand for mechanical ventilation,infusion of vasopressors,and renal replacement therapy than AP patients in non-AKI group(P<0.01,P<0.01,P=0.01,P=0.001,P<0.01,P<0.01,respectively).Significant differences were noted in dose of norepinephrine and adrenaline,duration of mechanical ventilation,maximum and mean values of intra-peritoneal pressure(IPP),maximum and mean values of procalcitonin,maximum and mean serum levels of creatinine,minimum platelet count,and length of hospitalization.Among AP patients with AKI,the survival rate of surgical intensive care unit and in-hospital were only 23%and 21%of the corresponding rates in AP patients without AKI,respectively.The factors that influenced the AP patients’survival rate included body mass index(BMI),mean values of IPP,minimum platelet count,and hospital day,of which mean values of IPP showed the greatest impact.CONCLUSION AP patients with AKI had a lower survival rate and worse relevant clinical outcomes than AP patients without AKI,which necessitates further attention to AP patients with AKI in surgical intensive care unit. | Ni Shi Guo-Dong Sun Yuan-Yuan Ji Ying Wang Yu-Cheng Zhu Wan-Qiu Xie Na-Na Li Qiu-Yuan Han Zhi-Dong Qi Rui Huang Ming Li Zhen-Yu Yang Jun-Bo Zheng Xing Zhang Qing-Qing Dai Gui-Ying Hou Yan-Song Liu Hong-Liang Wang Yang Gao | 2021 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2021,27,38: | 8 |
| 13 | Lead?Free Halide Double Perovskite Materials: A New Superstar Toward Green and Stable Optoelectronic Applications显示文摘Lead-based halide perovskites have emerged as excellent semiconductors for a broad range of optoelectronic applications, such as photovoltaics, lighting, lasing and photon detection. However, toxicity of lead and poor stability still represent significant challenges. Fortunately, halide double perovskite materials with formula of A_2M(I)M(III)X_6 or A_2M(IV)X_6 could be potentially regarded as stable and green alternatives for optoelectronic applications, where two divalent lead ions are substituted by combining one monovalent and one trivalent ions, or one tetravalent ion. Here, the article provides an up-to-date review on the developments of halide double perovskite materials and their related optoelectronic applications including photodetectors, X-ray detectors, photocatalyst, light-emitting diodes and solar cells. The synthesized halide double perovskite materials exhibit exceptional stability, and a few possess superior optoelectronic properties. However, the number of synthesized halide double perovskites is limited, and more limited materials have been developed for optoelectronic applications to date. In addition, the band structures and carrier transport properties of the materials are still not desired, and the films still manifest low quality for photovoltaic applications. | 14 | High-resolution crustal structure of the Yinchuan basin revealed by deep seismic reflection profiling:implications for deep processes of basin显示文摘The Yinchuan basin, located on the western margin of the Ordos block, has the characteristics of an active continental rift. A NW-striking deep seismic reflection profile across the center of Yinchuan basin precisely revealed the fine structure of the crust. The images showed that the crust in the Yinchuan basin was characterized by vertical stratifications along a detachment located at a two-way travel time(TWT) of 8.0 s.The most outstanding feature of this seismic profile was the almost flat Mohorovicˇic′ discontinuity(Moho) and a high-reflection zone in the lower crust. This sub-horizontal Moho conflicts with the general assumption of an uplifted Moho under sedimentary basins and continental rifts, and may indicate the action of different processes at depth during the evolution of sedimentary basins or rifts.We present a possible interpretation of these deep processes and the sub-horizontal Moho. The high-reflection zone, which consists of sheets of high-density, mantlederived materials, may have compensated for crustal thinning in the Yinchuan basin, leading to the formation of a sub-horizontal Moho. | 15 | Distribution characteristics of poly-and perfluoroalkyl substances in the Yangtze River Delta显示文摘In this work, a method was developed and optimized for the analysis of polyfluoroalkyl and/or perfluoroalkyl substances(PFASs) content in surface water and sediment samples with high instrumental response and good separation. Surface water and sediment samples were collected from the Yangtze River Delta(YRD) to analyze the distribution characteristics of perfluoroalkyl carboxylic acids(PFCAs), perfluoroalkane sulfonic acids(PFSAs), perfluoroalkyl phosphonic acids(PFPAs), perfluoroalkyl phosphinic acids(PFPiAs), and polyfluoroalkyl phosphoric acid diesters(di PAPs). The results showed that the total concentrations of PFCAs and PFSAs in YRD varied from 31 to 902 ng/L. PFCAs(≥ 11 carbons) and PFSAs(≥ 10 carbons atoms) were not detected in any surface water samples. The mean concentrations of all PFCAs and PFSAs in surface water from the sampling areas decreased in the following order:Yangtze river(191 ng/L) ≈ Taihu lake(189 ng/L) > Huangpu river(122 ng/L) ≈ Qiantang river(120 ng/L) > Jiaxing urban river(100 ng/L). Strong significant(p < 0.05) correlations between the concentrations of many of the compounds were found in the sampling areas, suggesting a common source for these compounds. Only perfluorooctanoic acid(PFOA) was observed in all sediment samples, at concentrations varying from 0.02 to 1.35 ng/g.
