2Role of gut microbiota in cardiovascular diseases显示文摘The human gut is colonized by a community of microbiota,primarily bacteria,that exist in a symbiotic relationship with the host.Intestinal microbiota-host interactions play a critical role in the regulation of human physiology.Deleterious changes to the composition of gut microbiota,referred to as gut dysbiosis,has been linked to the development and progression of numerous diseases,including cardiovascular disease(CVD).Imbalances in host-microbial interaction impair homeostatic mechanisms that regulate health and can activate multiple pathways leading to CVD risk factor progression.Most CVD risk factors,including aging,obesity,dietary patterns,and a sedentary lifestyle,have been shown to induce gut dysbiosis.Dysbiosis is associated with intestinal inflammation and reduced integrity of the gut barrier,which in turn increases circulating levels of bacterial structural components and microbial metabolites,including trimethylamine-N-oxide and short-chain fatty acids,that may facilitate the development of CVD.This article reviews the normal function and composition of the gut microbiome,mechanisms leading to the leaky gut syndrome,its mechanistic link to CVD and potential novel therapeutic approaches aimed towards restoring gut microbiome and CVD prevention.As CVD is the leading cause of deaths globally,investigating the gut microbiota as a locus of intervention presents a novel and clinically relevant avenue for future research.Marko Novakovic Amit Rout Thomas Kingsley Robert Kirchoff Amteshwar Singh Vipin Verma Ravi Kant Rahul Chaudhary 2020World Journal of Cardiology2020,12,4:6
3Prevention of macrovascular complications in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus: Review of cardiovascular safety and efficacy of newer diabetes medications显示文摘Lack of conclusive beneficial effects of strict glycemic control on macrovascular complications has been very frustrating for clinicians involved in care of patients with diabetes mellitus (DM). Highly publicized controversy surrounding cardiovascular (CV) safety of rosiglitazone resulted in major changes in United States Food and Drug Administration policy in 2008 regarding approval process of new antidiabetic medications, which has resulted in revolutionary data from several large CV outcome trials over the last few years. All drugs in glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonist (GLP-1 RA) and sodium-glucose cotransporter-2 (SGLT-2) inhibitor classes have shown to be CV safe with heterogeneous results on CV efficacy. Given twofold higher CV disease mortality in patients with DM than without DM, GLP-1 RAs and SGLT-2-inhibitors are important additions to clinician’s armamentarium and should be second line-therapy particularly in patients with T2DM and established atherosclerotic CV disease or high risks for CV disease. Abundance of data and heterogeneity in CV outcome trials results can make it difficult for clinicians, particularly primary care physicians, to stay updated with all the recent evidence. 4Size-resolved effective density of submicron particles during summertime in the rural atmosphere of Beijing, China显示文摘Particle density is an important physical property of atmospheric particles.The information on high time-resolution size-resolved particle density is essential for understanding the atmospheric physical and chemical aging processes of aerosols particles.In the present study,a centrifugal particle mass analyzer(CPMA) combined with a differential mobility analyzer(DMA) was deployed to determine the size-resolved effective density of 50 to 350 nm particles at a rural site of Beijing during summer 2016.The measured particle effective densities decreased with increasing particle sizes and ranged from 1.43 to 1.55 g/cm^3,on average.The effective particle density distributions were dominated by a mode peaked at around 1.5 g/cm^3 for 50 to350 nm particles.Extra modes with peaks at 1.0,0.8,and 0.6 g/cm3 for 150,240,and 350 nm particles,which might be freshly emitted soot particles,were observed during intensive primary emissions episodes.The particle effective densities showed a diurnal variation pattern,with higher values during daytime.A case study showed that the effective density of Aitken mode particles during the new particle formation(NPF) event decreased considerably,indicating the significant contribution of organics to new particle growth.Kai Qiao Zhijun Wu Xiangyu Pei Qianyun Liu Dongjie Shang Jing Zheng Zhuofei Du Wenfei Zhu Yusheng Wu Shengrong Lou Song Guo Chak K.Chan Ravi Kant Pathak Mattias Hallquist Min Hu 2018Journal of Environmental Sciences2018,30,11:2

13High Phenotypic Variation in Morus alba L. along an Altitudinal Gradient in the Indian Trans-Himalaya显示文摘Ten quantitative morphological characters were studied in 56 Morus alba L. trees representing three natural populations from the trans-Himalayan Ladakh region. The altitude of collection sites ranged from 2815 to 3177 m above the sea level(asl). Coefficient of variation(CV) showed high phenotypic variation in M. alba. Linear regression analysis revealed that leaf and fruit size decreases with an increase in altitude. High CV was observed for leaf length, leaf width, petiole length, leaf area, internodal distance, number of nodes, bud length, fruit length, fruit width and fruit weight. Similarly, a high phenotypic plasticity index was observed for bud length, leaf length, leaf width, petiole length, leaf area, inter-nodal distance, number of nodes, fruit length, fruit width and fruit weight. For every 100 m increase in altitude, leaf length, leaf width and leaf area decreased by 1 cm, 0.8 cm and 16.6 cm2, respectively. Analysis of covariance showed a predominant altitudinal effect on the morphological characters in comparison to the population effect. A small change in the altitude caused significant change in the plant morphological characteristics. The present investigation represents to our knowledge the first study addressing phenotypic variation in mulberryalong an altitudinal gradient.Prabodh K. BAJPAI Ashish R. 15Effect of local longitudinal shortening on the transport of luminal contents through small intestine显示文摘A theoretical analysis of the rheological fluid flow due to peristalsis is studied. We have applied the classical lubrication theory to predict the near physiological behavior of the intestinal segment, mixing and transport. A parametric study involving the changes in local longitudinal shortening (LLS) magnitude, LLS spacing, fluid viscosity, wavelength of the wave, and occlusion of lumen caused by the wave provided insights into the dynamics of the peristalsis flow of a non-Newtonian fluid. LLS appear to have little significance in modulating the flow patterns that are caused by circular contraction alone. Results also indicate that there exists trade-off between the power requirement for peristalsis at a certain occlusion against the percentage LLS. LLS appear to be more advantageous to perform the peristalsis activity at higher occlusion than lower occlusion. Having mucosal folds in the inner lining of the intestine allows for one more advantage of slowing the transit due to increased friction factor and increase in time for absorption of the nutrients.Ravi Kant Avvari 2019Acta Mechanica Sinica2019,35,1:1

17Gut microbiota interactions with anti-diabetic medications and pathogenesis of type 2 diabetes mellitus显示文摘Microorganisms including bacteria,viruses,protozoa,and fungi living in the gastrointestinal tract are collectively known as the gut microbiota.Dysbiosis is the imbalance in microbial composition on or inside the body relative to healthy state.Altered Firmicutes to Bacteroidetes ratio and decreased abundance of Akkermansia muciniphila are the predominant gut dysbiosis associated with the pathogenesis of type 2 diabetes mellitus(T2DM)and metabolic syndrome.Pathophysiological mechanisms linking gut dysbiosis,and metabolic diseases and their complications include altered metabolism of short-chain fatty acids and bile acids,interaction with gut hormones,increased gut microbial metabolite trimethylamine-N-oxide,bacterial translocation/Leaky gut syndrome,and endotoxin production such as lipopolysaccharides.The association between the gut microbiota and glycemic agents,however,is much less understood and is the growing focus of research and conversation.Recent studies suggest that the gut microbiota and anti-diabetic medications are interdependent on each other,meaning that while anti-diabetic medications alter the gut microbiota,the gut microbiota also alters the efficacy of anti-diabetic medications.With increasing evidence regarding the significance of gut microbiota,it is imperative to review the role of gut microbiota in the pathogenesis of T2DM.This review also discusses the interaction between gut microbiota and the various medications used in the treatment of T2DM.Ravi Kant Lakshya Chandra Vipin Verma Priyanshu Nain Diego Bello Siddharth Patel Subash Ala Rashmi Chandra Mc Anto Antony 2022World Journal of Methodology2022,12,4:1

19A Stack-based Ensemble Framework for Detecting Cancer MicroRNA Biomarkers显示文摘MicroRNA(miRNA) plays vital roles in biological processes like RNA splicing and regulation of gene expression. Studies have revealed that there might be possible links between oncogenesis and expression pro?les of some miRNAs, due to their differential expression between normal and tumor tissues. However, the automatic classi?cation of miRNAs into different categories by considering the similarity of their expression values has rarely been addressed. This article proposes a solution framework for solving some real-life classi?cation problems related to cancer,miRNA, and mRNA expression datasets. In the ?rst stage, a multiobjective optimization based framework, non-dominated sorting genetic algorithm II, is proposed to automatically determine the appropriate classi?er type, along with its suitable parameter and feature combinations, pertinent for classifying a given dataset. In the second page, a stack-based ensemble technique is employed to get a single combinatorial solution from the set of solutions obtained in the ?rst stage. The performance of the proposed two-stage approach is evaluated on several cancer and RNA expression pro-?le datasets. 20A review on emerging materials with focus on BiI_(3) for room-temperature semiconductor radiation detectors显示文摘Purpose Considerable advances in the fundamental knowledge and applications of radiation science have led to significant progress and development of room-temperature semiconductor radiation detectors(RTSD).The RTSDs technologies are continuously evolving with accelerated research and material engineering in the last decade.Significant scientific and technological advancements have led to development of high-performance radiation detectors with high signal-to-noise ratio(SNR),better sensitivity,faster response and higher-resolution with capability of desired room-temperature operation.This paper is a review on emerging semiconductor radiation detector materials with a deeper insight into the prospective role of Bismuth tri-iodide(BiI_(3))for room-temperature radiation detectors.Methods An introduction of the state of art of most developed semiconductor materials,i.e.,cadmium telluride(CdTe),mercury iodide(HgI_(2)),lead iodide(PbI_(2)),etc.,and a critical examination of properties,shortcomings and challenges related to their synthesis have been elaborated.Polymer-semiconductor composites with desirable properties and their integration into detector devices is also presented.Subsequent sections discuss the role of BiI_(3) as an emerging radiation detector material for room-temperature operation with an in-depth discussion on the role of defects in charge transportation and electrode configuration.Furthermore,the current challenges along with the future prospects of these materials for radiation detection to promote continuous innovation and practical applications are also elaborated.Conclusion The comprehensive review on latest developments in room-temperature radiation detector materials is expected to help establish a technological roadmap for the synthesis,fabrication and commercialization of novel materials for development of efficient radiation detectors.Ritu Chaudhari Chhaya Ravi Kant Alka Garg Surender Kumar Sharma 2023Radiation Detection Technology and Methods2023,7,4:0
