1Acupuncture at Waiguan(SJ5) and sham points influences activation of functional brain areas of ischemic stroke patients: a functional magnetic resonance imaging study显示文摘Most studies addressing the specificity of meridians and acupuncture points have focused mainly on the different neural effects of acupuncture at different points in healthy individuals. This study examined the effects of acupuncture on brain function in a pathological context. Sixteen patients with ischemic stroke were randomly assigned to true point group(true acupuncture at right Waiguan(SJ5)) and sham point group(sham acupuncture). Results of functional magnetic resonance imaging revealed activation in right parietal lobe(Brodmann areas 7 and 19), the right temporal lobe(Brodmann area 39), the right limbic lobe(Brodmann area 23) and bilateral occipital lobes(Brodmann area 18). Furthermore, inhibition of bilateral frontal lobes(Brodmann area 4, 6, and 45), right parietal lobe(Brodmann areas 1 and 5) and left temporal lobe(Brodmann area 21) were observed in the true point group. Activation in the precuneus of right parietal lobe(Brodmann area 7) and inhibition of the left superior frontal gyrus(Brodmann area 10) was observed in the sham group. Compared with sham acupuncture, acupuncture at Waiguan in stroke patients inhibited Brodmann area 5 on the healthy side. 2Integrated histopathological,lipidomic,and metabolomic profiles reveal mink is a useful animal model to mimic the pathogenicity of severe COVID-19 patients显示文摘Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2(SARS-CoV-2)is transmitted on mink farms between minks and humans in many countries.However,the systemic pathological features of SARS-CoV-2-infected minks are mostly unknown.Here,we demonstrated that minks were largely permissive to SARS-CoV-2,characterized by severe and diffuse alveolar damage,and lasted at least 14 days post inoculation(dpi).We first reported that infected minks displayed multiple organ-system lesions accompanied by an increased inflammatory response and widespread viral distribution in the cardiovascular,hepatobiliary,urinary,endocrine,digestive,and immune systems.The viral protein partially co-localized with activated Mac-2+macrophages throughout the body.Moreover,we first found that the alterations in lipids and metabolites were correlated with the histological lesions in infected minks,especially at 6 dpi,and were similar to that of patients with severe and fatal COVID-19.Particularly,altered metabolic pathways,abnormal digestion,and absorption of vitamins,lipids,cholesterol,steroids,amino acids,and proteins,consistent with hepatic dysfunction,highlight metabolic and immune dysregulation.Enriched kynurenine in infected minks contributed to significant activation of the kynurenine pathway and was related to macrophage activation.Melatonin,which has significant anti-inflammatory and immunomodulating effects,was significantly downregulated at 6 dpi and displayed potential as a targeted medicine.Our data first illustrate systematic analyses of infected minks to recapitulate those observations in severe and fetal COVID-19 patients,delineating a useful animal model to mimic SARS-CoV-2-induced systematic and severe pathophysiological features and provide a reliable tool for the development of effective and targeted treatment strategies,vaccine research,and potential biomarkers.Zhiqi Song Linlin Bao Wei Deng Jiangning Liu Erjun Ren Qi Lv Mingya Liu Feifei Qi Ting Chen Ran Deng Fengdi Li Yunpeng Liu Qiang Wei Hong Gao Pin Yu Yunlin Han Wenjie Zhao Junjun Zheng Xujian Liang Fuhe Yang Chuan Qin 2022Signal Transduction and Targeted Therapy2022,7,2:2
3Carboniferous integrative stratigraphy and timescale of China显示文摘The Carboniferous period lasted about 60 Myr, from ~358.9 Ma to ~298.9 Ma. According to the International Commission on Stratigraphy, the Carboniferous System is subdivided into two subsystems, i.e., Mississippian and Pennsylvanian, including 6 series and 7 stages. The Global Stratotype Sections and Points(GSSPs) of three stages have been ratified, the Tournaisian, Visean, and Bashkirian stages. The GSSPs of the remaining four stages(i.e., the Serpukhovian, Moscovian,Kasimovian, and Gzhelian) have not been ratified so far. This paper outlines Carboniferous stratigraphic subdivision and correlation on the basis of detailed biostratigraphy mainly from South China, and summarizes the Carboniferous chronostratigraphic framework of China. High-resolution biostratigraphic study reveals 37 conodont zones, 24 foraminiferal(including fusulinid) zones, 13 ammonoid zones, 10 brachiopod zones, and 10 rugose coral zones in the Carboniferous of China. The biostratigraphic framework based on these biozones warrants the precise correlation of regional stratigraphy of China(including2 subsystems, 4 series, and 8 stages) to that of the other regions globally. Meanwhile, the Carboniferous chemo-, sequence-,cyclo-, and event-stratigraphy of China have been intensively studied and can also be correlated worldwide. 8Eco-geotechnics for human sustainability显示文摘As a result of climate change and increasing engineering activities, soil-related disasters such as slope failures and sandstorms have become more frequent worldwide. These disasters have caused not only loss of life, but also have led to serious economic losses as well as ecological and environmental damage. To sustain mankind, a new discipline, eco-geotechnics, has rapidly become established and developed in recent years. It integrates scientific knowledge from soil mechanics, rock mechanics,ecology, biology, and atmospheric science to develop cross-disciplinary theories and carry out experiments to tackle grand world challenges such as the effects of climate change. Through the development of eco-geotechnics, various eco-friendly technologies have been developed to mitigate sandstorms and to improve the performance of earthen structures such as embankments, slopes and landfill covers. 9Surface charge property governing co-transport of illite colloids and Eu(Ⅲ) in saturated porous media显示文摘The transport of colloids and radionuclides is sophisticated because of the variety of charge properties between colloidal particles and host subsurface media, which causes great difficulty in establishing a reliable model of radionuclides migration by taking the colloid phase into consideration. In this work,the co-transport of illite colloids(IC) and Eu(Ⅲ) in the quartz sand and iron-coated sand porous media was investigated by column experiments to address the predominant mechanism of charge properties on co-transport. Results showed that Eu(Ⅲ) transport was driven by the illite colloids and electrostatic interaction was critical in governing the co-transport patterns. The promotion of Eu(Ⅲ) transport by IC was attenuated in the iron-coated sand systems;more IC-Eu(Ⅲ) complexes were retained uniformly in the column. The pore throat shrinkage caused by electrostatic attachment between aggregated IC and iron oxides exacerbated the physical straining and size exclusion effect of IC-Eu(Ⅲ) complexes. An aggravated irreversible retention of IC-Eu(Ⅲ) was detected in iron-coated sand column due to the electrostatic attraction of IC-Eu(Ⅲ) to host media. 10An Improved Parasitic Parameter Extraction Method for InP HEMT显示文摘An improved parasitic parameter extraction method for InP high electron mobil-ity transistor(HEMT)is presented.Parasitic parameter extraction is the first step of model parameter extraction and its accuracy has a great impact on the subsequent internal pa-rameter extraction.It is necessary to accurately determine and effectively eliminate the parasitic effect,so as to avoid the error propagation to the internal circuit parameters.In this paper,in order to obtain higher accuracy of parasitic parameters,parasitic parameters are extracted based on traditional analytical method and optimization algorithm to obtain the best parasitic parameters.The validity of the proposed parasitic parameter extraction method is verified with excellent agreement between the measured and modeled S-param-eters up to 40 GHz for InP HEMT.In 0.1-40 GHz InP HEMT,the average relative error of the optimization algorithm is about 9%higher than that of the analysis method,which verifies the validity of the parasitic parameter extraction method.The extraction of parasit-ic parameters not only provides a foundation for the high-precision extraction of small sig-nal intrinsic parameters of HEMT devices,but also lays a foundation for the high-preci-sion extraction of equivalent circuit model parameters of large signal and noise signals of HEMT devices.DUAN Lanyan LU Hongliang QI Junjun ZHANG Yuming ZHANG Yimen 2022ZTE Communications2022,20,S01:0
11A 0.82 μVrms ultralow 1/f noise bandgap reference for a MEMS gyroscope显示文摘High-precision microelectromechanical system(MEMS)gyroscopes are significant in many applications.Bias instability(BI)is an important parameter that indicates the performance of a MEMS gyroscope and is affected by the 1/f noise of the MEMS resonator and readout circuit.Since the bandgap reference(BGR)is an important block in the readout circuit,reducing its 1/f noise is key to improving a gyroscope's Bl.In a traditional BGR,the error amplifer is applied to provide a virtual short-circuit point,but it introduces the main low-frequency noise sources.This paper proposes an ultralow 1/f noise BGR by removing the error amplifer and applying an optimized circuit topology.In addition,a simplified but accurate noise model of the proposed BGR is obtained to optimize the BGR's output noise performance.To verify this design,the proposed BGR has been implemented in a 180 nm CMOS process with a chip area of 545×423μm.The experimental results show that the BGR's output integrated noise from 0.1 to 10 Hz is 0.82μV and the thermal noise is 35 nV/√Hz.Furthermore,bias stability tests of the MEMS gyroscope fabricated in our laboratory with the proposed BGR and some commercial BGRs are carried out.Statistical results show that reducing the BGR's 1/f noisecannearly linearly improvethegyroscope's Bl.Junjun Zou Qi Wei Chunge Ju Hua Liao Haoyu Gu Bowen Xing Bin Zhou Rong Zhang 2023Microsystems & Nanoengineering2023,9,2:0
12Analysis of a landfill cover without geomembrane using varied particle sizes of recycled concrete显示文摘Previous studies have demonstrated the effectiveness of a novel three-layer landfill cover system constructed with recycled concrete aggregates(RCAs)without geomembrane in both laboratory and field.However,no systematic investigation has been carried out to optimize the combination of the particle sizes for fine-grained RCAs(FRC)and coarse-grained RCAs(CRC)that can be used for the three-layer landfill cover system.The aim of this paper is to assist engineers in designing the three-layer landfill cover system under a rainfall of 100-year return period in humid climate conditions using an easily controlled soil parameter D10 of RCAs.The numerical study reveals that when D10 of FRC increases from 0.05 mm to 0.16 mm,its saturated permeability increases by 10 times.As a result,a larger amount of rainwater infiltrates into the cover system,causing a higher lateral diversion in both the top FRC and middle CRC layers.No further changes in the lateral diversion are observed when the D10 value of FRC is larger than 0.16 mm.Both the particle sizes of FRC and CRC layers are shown to have a minor influence on the percolation under the extreme rainfall event.This implies that the selection of particle sizes for the FRC and CRC layers can be based on the availability of materials.Although it is well known that the bottom layer of the cover system should be constructed with very fine-grained soils if possible,this study provides an upper limit to the particle size that can be used in the bottom layer(D10 not larger than 0.02 mm).With this limit,the three-layer system can still minimize the water percolation to meet the design criterion(30 mm/yr)even under a 100-year return period of rainfall in humid climates.Charles Wang Wai Ng Cheuk Lam Ng Junjun Ni Haowen Guo Qi Zhang Qiang Xue Rui Chen 2023Journal of Rock Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering2023,15,5:0
13Particle erosion of infrared materials显示文摘Erosion test of some infrared (IR) optical crystals (Ge, ZnS, MgF2, and quartz) was conducted with a number of different erodents (glass bead, and angular SiC, SiO2, Al2O3) by a homemade gas-blasting erosion tester. The influence of impact angle, im-pact velocity, erodent, and erosion time on the erosion rate and the effect of erosion on their IR transmittance were studied. The damaged surface morphology was characterized by scanning electron microscopy, and the erosion mechanism was explored. All of the materials show the maximum in wear versus impact angle at 90°, confirming their brittle failure behavior. It is found that the ero-sion rate is dependent on the erodent velocity by a power law, and it is highly correlated to the hardness of the erodent. The erosion rate-time curves do not show an incubation state, but an accelerated erosion period followed a maximum erosion (steady state). The decrease of IR transmittance is direct proportion to the erosion rate.
