2Factors predicting sensory and motor recovery after the repair of upper limb peripheral nerve injuries显示文摘OBJECTIVE: To investigate the factors associated with sensory and motor recovery after the repair of upper limb peripheral nerve injuries. DATA SOURCES: The online PubMed database was searched for English articles describing outcomes after the repair of median, ulnar, radial, and digital nerve injuries in humans with a publication date between 1 January 1990 and 16 February 2011. STUDY SELECTION: The following types of article were selected:(1) clinical trials describing the repair of median, ulnar, radial, and digital nerve injuries published in English; and(2) studies that reported sufficient patient information, including age, mechanism of injury, nerve injured, injury location, defect length, repair time, repair method, and repair materials. SPSS 13.0 software was used to perform univariate and multivariate logistic regression analyses and to investigate the patient and intervention factors associated with outcomes. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: Sensory function was assessed using the Mackinnon-Dellon scale and motor function was assessed using the manual muscle test. Satisfactory motor recovery was defined as grade M4 or M5, and satisfactory sensory recovery was defined as grade S3+ or S4.RESULTS: Seventy-one articles were included in this study. Univariate and multivariate logistic regression analyses showed that repair time, repair materials, and nerve injured were independent predictors of outcome after the repair of nerve injuries(P < 0.05), and that the nerve injured was the main factor affecting the rate of good to excellent recovery. 4Chromosomal-level genome of macadamia(Macadamia integrifolia)显示文摘Macadamia from the family Proteaceae is a plant native to Australia and has long been favoured by people for its crispy and high nutritional and medicinal value.Here,the genome of GUIRE 1(GR1),a highly heterozygous superior cultivar of macadamia nut,was sequenced and assembled using nanopore sequencing,and a 807-Mb genome(contig N50,1.9 Mb;scaffold N50,54.70 Mb)and 14 chromosomes were obtained.A total of 453 Mb(about 55.95%)repetitive sequences and 37,657 protein-coding genes were obtained by gene annotation and homologous protein comparison.Proteaceae diverged from Nelumbonaceae nearly 115.37 million years ago and from Rubiaceae about 140 million years ago.A genome-wide duplication(WGD)event occurred in macadamia 41 million years ago based on the WGD analysis.The functional enrichment analysis of M.integrifolia-specific gene families revealed their roles in signal transduction,protein phosphorylation,protein binding,and defense response.Here,a highly heterozygous genome of M.integrifolia was unlocked to provide a database for breeding and molecular mechanism research.Chengcai Xia Sirong Jiang Qiujin Tan Wenquan Wang Long Zhao Chenji Zhang Yuting Bao Qi Liu Jianjia Xiao Ke Deng Miaohua He Pengliang An Wenlin Wang Meiling Zou Zhiqiang Xia 2022Tropical Plants2022,1,1:3
5Reorganization of 3D genome architecture across wild boar and Bama pig adipose tissues显示文摘Background:A growing body of evidence has revealed that the mammalian genome is organized into hierarchical layers that are closely correlated with and may even be causally linked with variations in gene expression.Recent studies have characterized chromatin organization in various porcine tissues and cell types and compared them among species and during the early development of pigs.However,how chromatin organization differs among pig breeds is poorly understood.Results:In this study,we investigated the 3D genome organization and performed transcriptome characterization of two adipose depots(upper layer of backfat[ULB]and greater omentum[GOM])in wild boars and Bama pigs;the latter is a typical indigenous pig in China.We found that over 95%of the A/B compartments and topologically associating domains(TADs)are stable between wild boars and Bama pigs.In contrast,more than 70%of promoterenhancer interactions(PEIs)are dynamic and widespread,involving over a thousand genes.Alterations in chromatin structure are associated with changes in the expression of genes that are involved in widespread biological functions such as basic cellular functions,endocrine function,energy metabolism and the immune response.Approximately 95%and 97%of the genes associated with reorganized A/B compartments and PEIs in the two pig breeds differed between GOM and ULB,respectively.Conclusions:We reported 3D genome organization in adipose depots from different pig breeds.In a comparison of Bama pigs and wild boar,large-scale compartments and TADs were mostly conserved,while fine-scale PEIs were extensively reorganized.The chromatin architecture in these two pig breeds was reorganized in an adipose depotspecific manner.These results contribute to determining the regulatory mechanism of phenotypic differences between Bama pigs and wild boar.Jiaman Zhang Pengliang Liu Mengnan He Yujie Wang Hua Kui Long Jin Diyan Li Mingzhou Li 2022Journal of Animal Science and Biotechnology2022,13,4:2
6Inhibition of spore germination of Ulva pertusa by the marine bacterium Pseudoalteromonas haloplanktis CI4显示文摘The effect of the bacterial strain CI4 on the germination of spores from the green alga Ulva pertusa was assayed and it was found that the bacterial biofilm and cell-free supernatant strongly inhibited spore germination. In attempts to define the chemical nature of the antifouling substance in the supernatant of CI4,the culture supernatants were tested for activity after heat treatment,enzymatic treatments,size fractionation,and separation into aqueous and organic fractions. Results suggest that this bacterium produces an extracellular component with specific activity toward algal spores that was heat-sensitive and between 3 and 10 kDa in molecular size. The exposure of the organic phase fraction to spores showed inhibitive effect on spore germination. Pronase and carboxypeptidase y did not significantly affect the activity of inhibitory component,suggesting that the component was not a protein or a peptide. 7Experimental and Numerical Study on the Gas Explosion in Urban Regulator Station显示文摘Regulator station is an important part in the urban gas transmission and distribution system.Once gas explosion occurs,the real explosion process and consequences of methane gas explosion in the regulator station were not revealed systematically.In this study,a full-scale experiment was carried out to simulate the regulator station explosion process,and some numerical simulations with a commercial CFD software called FLACS were conducted to analyze the effect of ignition and vent conditions on the blast overpressure and flame propagation.The experimental results demonstrated that the peak overpressure increased as the distance from the vent increased within a certain distance.And the maximum overpressure appeared 3 m away from the door,which was about 36.6 kPa.It was found that the pressure-time rising curves obtained from the simulation are basically the same as the ones from the experiment,however,the time of reaching the peak pressure was much shorter.The numerical simulation results show that the peak overpressures show an increase trend as the ignition height decreased and the vent relief pressure increased.It indicates that the damage and peak overpressure of gas explosion could be well predicted by FLACS in different styles of regulator station.In addition,the results help us to understand the internal mechanism and development process of gas explosion better.It also offers technical support for the safety protection of the urban regulator station.Zhenyi Liu Yuanyuan Ma Yuan Ren Mingzhi Li Pengliang Li Song Wan 2020Journal of Beijing Institute of Technology2020,29,2:1
8Biomimetic ultrathin pepsomes for photo-controllable catalysis显示文摘Artificial vesicles for mimicking the unique structures and functions of natural organelles represent a promising scientific object in biomimicry.However,the development of the stimuli-responsive and ultrathin vesicles assembled from sequence-defined biomimetic polymers for controllable applications is still a significant challenge.Herein,we report the self-assembly of azobenzene-based amphiphilic alternating peptoids to generate photo-responsive and ultrathin peptoid vesicle(pepsomes)with an average diameter of∼180 nm.Both cryo-transmission electron microscopy(TEM)and dissipative particle dynamics simulation proved that the vesicular membrane was the ultrathin bilayer structure around∼1.6 nm.The photo-responsive ability of pepsomes was demonstrated by the reversible size changes upon the alternative irradiation with ultraviolet(UV)and visible lights,which was attributable to the photoisomerization virtue of azobenzene moiety.As a proof-of-concept,the photo-controllable catalytic action of gold nanoparticles-decorated pepsomes was evaluated toward the borohydride-mediated reduction from 4-nitrophenol to 4-aminophenol.Photo-controllable reversible and recyclable catalytic activity was effectively modulated using the alternative irradiation with UV and visible lights for five cycles.Our work provides a simple strategy to prepare stimuli-responsive and ultrathin vesicles for potential application on nanocatalysis.Guiping Peng Haibao Jin Fan Liu Xiaoyan Yang Pengliang Sui Shaoliang Lin 2022Science China Chemistry2022,65,12:1
9Repairing of exit-hole in friction-stir-spot welded joints for 2024-T4 aluminum alloy by resistance welding显示文摘The exit-hole in friction stir spot welded(FSSWed) 2024-T4 aluminum alloy joints was successfully repaired by using a three-phase secondary rectification resistance spot welding machine, which is termed as filling exit-hole based on resistance welding(FEBRW). The filling dynamic behavior of force was recorded by a device monitoring. Optical microscope(OM), electron backscatter diffraction(EBSD), and tensile shear tests and finite element modelling were conducted to investigate the repairing stages and bonding mechanisms of the repaired joints in detail. Results showed that exit-hole was completely filled and repaired experiencing three stages. Metallurgical bonding was achieved between plug and exit-hole wall in two forms, including melting bonding in the middle of the joints and partial diffusion bonding on both the upper and bottom of the joints. The highest tensile shear strength of the repaired joints was 7.43 kN, which was 36.3% higher than that of the as welded joints.
