| 1 | A review of topology optimization for additive manufacturing:Status and challenges显示文摘Topology optimization was developed as an advanced structural design methodology to generate innovative lightweight and high-performance configurations that are difficult to obtain with conventional ideas.Additive manufacturing is an advanced manufacturing technique building asdesigned structures via layer-by-layer joining material,providing an alternative pattern for complex components.The integration of topology optimization and additive manufacturing can make the most of their advantages and potentials,and has wide application prospects in modern manufacturing.This article reviews the main content and applications of the research on the integration of topology optimization and additive manufacturing in recent years,including multi-scale or hierarchical structural optimization design and topology optimization considering additive manufacturing constraints.Meanwhile,some challenges of structural design approaches for additive manufacturing are discussed,such as the performance characterization and scale effects of additively manufactured lattice structures,the anisotropy and fatigue performance of additively manufactured material,and additively manufactured functionally graded material issues,etc.It is shown that in the research of topology optimization for additive manufacturing,the integration of material,structure,process and performance is important to pursue high-performance,multi-functional and lightweight production.This article provides a reference for further related research and aerospace applications. | Jihong ZHU Han ZHOU Chuang WANG Lu ZHOU Shangqin YUAN Weihong ZHANG | 2021 | Chinese Journal of Aeronautics2021,34,1: | 33 |
| 2 | PBPK modeling and simulation in drug research and development显示文摘Physiologically based pharmacokinetic(PBPK) modeling and simulation can be used to predict the pharmacokinetic behavior of drugs in humans using preclinical data.It can also explore the effects of various physiologic parameters such as age,ethnicity,or disease status on human pharmacokinetics,as well as guide dose and dose regiment selection and aid drug–drug interaction risk assessment.PBPK modeling has developed rapidly in the last decade within both the field of academia and the pharmaceutical industry,and has become an integral tool in drug discovery and development.In this mini-review,the concept and methodology of PBPK modeling are briefly introduced.Several case studies were discussed on how PBPK modeling and simulation can be utilized through various stages of drug discovery and development.These case studies are from our own work and the literature for better understanding of the absorption,distribution,metabolism and excretion(ADME) of a drug candidate,and the applications to increase efficiency,reduce the need for animal studies,and perhaps to replace clinical trials.The regulatory acceptance and industrial practices around PBPK modeling and simulation is also discussed. | Xiaomei Zhuang Chuang Lu | 2016 | Acta Pharmaceutica Sinica B2016,6,5: | 21 |
| 3 | Upper ocean near-inertial response to 1998 Typhoon Faith in the South China Sea显示文摘During the South China Sea monsoon experiment (SCSMEX),three autonomous temperature line acquisition system (ATLAS) buoys with acoustic Doppler current profiler (ADCP) were moored in the South China Sea to measure temperature,salinity and current velocity.Typhoon Faith passed through about 250 km south to one of the mooring buoys located at 12 58.5 N,114 24.5 E from December 11 to 14,1998.The data analysis indicates that the typhoon winds induce a great increase in the kinetic energy at near-inertial frequencies with two maxima in the mixed layer and thermocline.The near-inertial oscillations were observed at the upper 270 m in the wake of Typhoon Faith.The oscillations were originally excited in the sea surface layer and propagated downward.The amplitudes of the oscillations decrease with depth except in the thermocline.The near-inertial oscillation signals are also remarkable in temperature and salinity fields. | SUN Lu ZHENG Quan'an TANG Tswen-Yung CHUANG Wen-Ssn LI Li HU Jianyu WANG Dongxiao | 2012 | Acta Oceanologica Sinica2012,31,2: | 15 |

| 5 | Eradication of Helicobacter pylori increases childhood growth and serum acylated ghrelin levels显示文摘AIM: To determine whether Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori)infected children have reduced body weight (BW) and height (BH) growth, and if H. pylori eradication may restore growth while improving serum acylated ghrelin. METHODS: This longitudinal cohort study with oneyear follow-up enrolled 1222 children aged 4 to 12 years old into an observation cohort (18 with and 318 without H. pylori ) and intervention cohort (75 with and 811 without). The 7-d triple therapy was used for eradication in the intervention cohort. The net increases of BW and BH as well serum acylated ghrelin after oneyear follow-up were compared between successful eradicated H. pylori-infected children and controls. RESULTS: In the observation cohort, the H. pylori - infected children had lower z score of BW (-1.11 ± 0.47 vs 0.35 ± 0.69, P = 0.01) and body mass index (BMI) (0.06 ± 0.45 vs 0.44 ± 0.73, P = 0.02) at enrollment and lower net BW gain after one-year follow-up (3.3 ± 2.1 kg vs 4.5 ± 2.4 kg, P = 0.04) than the non-infected controls. In the intervention cohort, the H. pylori - infected children had lower z score of BMI (0.25 ± 1.09 vs 0.68 ± 0.87, P = 0.009) and serum acylated ghrelin levels (41.8 ± 35.6 pg/mL vs 83.6 ± 24.2 pg/mL, P < 0.001) than the non-infected controls. In addition to restoring decreased serum ghrelin levels (87.7 ± 38.0 pg/mL vs 44.2 ± 39.0 pg/mL, P < 0.001), the H. pylori - infected children with successful eradication had higher net gains (P < 0.05) and increase of z scores (P < 0.05) of both BW and BH as compared with non-infected controls after one-year follow-up. CONCLUSION:H. pylori-infected children are associated with low serum acylated ghrelin and growth retardation. | 6 | Anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory effects of hydrogenrich water alleviate ethanol-induced fatty liver in mice显示文摘AIM To investigate the effects of hydrogen-rich water(HRW) treatment on prevention of ethanol(Et OH)-induced early fatty liver in mice.METHODS In vitro reduction of hydrogen peroxide by HRW was determined with a chemiluminescence system. Female mice were randomly divided into five groups: control,Et OH,Et OH + silymarin,Et OH + HRW and Et OH + silymarin + HRW. Each group was fed a Lieber-De Carli liquid diet containing Et OH or isocaloric maltose dextrin(control diet). Silymarin was used as a positive control to compare HRW efficacy against chronic Et OH-induced hepatotoxicity. HRW was freshly prepared and given at a dosage of 1.2 m L/mouse trice daily. Blood and liver tissue were collected after chronic-binge liquid-diet feeding for 12 wk.RESULTS The in vitro study showed that HRW directly scavenged hydrogen peroxide. The in vivo study showed that HRW increased expression of acyl ghrelin,which was correlated with food intake. HRW treatment significantly reduced Et OH-induced increases in serum alanine aminotransferase,aspartate aminotransferase,triglycerol and total cholesterol levels,hepatic lipid accumulation and inflammatory cytokines,including tumor necrosis factor-alpha(TNF-α) and interleukin(IL)-6. HRW attenuated malondialdehyde level,restored glutathione depletion and increased superoxide dismutase,glutathione peroxidase and catalase activities in the liver. | 7 | High degree of pharmacokinetic compatibility exists between the five-herb medicine XueBiJing and antibiotics comedicated in sepsis care显示文摘Managing the dysregulated host response to infection remains a major challenge in sepsis care. Chinese treatment guideline recommends adding Xue Bi Jing, a five-herb medicine, to antibioticbased sepsis care. Although adding Xue Bi Jing further reduced 28-day mortality via modulating the host response, pharmacokinetic herbedrug interaction is a widely recognized issue that needs to be studied.Building on our earlier systematic chemical and human pharmacokinetic investigations of Xue Bi Jing, we evaluated the degree of pharmacokinetic compatibility for Xue Bi Jing/antibiotic combination based on mechanistic evidence of interaction risk. Considering both Xue Bi Jing-antibiotic and antibiotic-Xue Bi Jing interaction potential, we integrated informatics-based approach with experimental approach and developed a compound pair-based method for data processing. To reflect clinical reality, we selected for study Xue Bi Jing compounds bioavailable for drug interactions and 45 antibiotics commonly used in sepsis care in China. Based on the data of interacting with drug metabolizing enzymes and transporters, no Xue Bi Jing compound could pair, as perpetrator, with the antibiotics. Although some antibiotics could,due to their inhibition of uridine 50-diphosphoglucuronosyltransferase 2 B15, organic anion transporters1/2 and/or organic anion-transporting polypeptide 1 B3, pair with senkyunolide I, tanshinol and salvianolic acid B, the potential interactions(resulting in increased exposure) are likely desirable due to these Xue Bi Jing compounds’ low baseline exposure levels. Inhibition of aldehyde dehydrogenase by 7 antibiotics probably results in undesirable reduction of exposure to protocatechuic acid from Xue Bi Jing.Collectively, Xue Bi Jing/antibiotic combination exhibited a high degree of pharmacokinetic compatibility at clinically relevant doses. | 8 | Huge pelvi-abdominal malignant inflammatory myofibroblastic tumor with rapid recurrence in a 14-year-old boy显示文摘Inflammatory myofibroblastic tumor(IMT) is an uncommon benign neoplasm with locally aggressive behavior but malignant change is rare.We report an unusual case of pelvic-abdominal inflammatory myofibroblastic tumor with malignant transformation in a 14-year-old boy presenting with abdominal pain and 9 kg body weight loss in one month.Computed tomography revealed a huge pelvi-abdominal mass(30 cm),possibly originating from the pelvic extraperitoneal space,protruding into the abdomen leading to upward displacement of the bowel loops,downward displacement of the urinary bladder,massive central necrosis,a well-enhanced peripheral solid component with prominent peritumoral vascularity.Subsequent examination confirmed the computed tomographic findings.Histopathologic examination revealed proliferative epitheloid and spindle cells,inflammatory cell infiltration and high mitotic counts.Immunohistochemistry was strongly positive for anaplastic lymphoma kinase and revealed a high proliferative index(ki-67 = 40%).DNA sequencing and electronic microscopy further confirmed the primitive fibroblastic cell phenotype of the tumor and a final diagnosis of inflammatory myofibroblastic tumor with malignant transformation was established.Rapid tumor recurrence was noted 20 d after radical tumor resection.To our knowledge,this is the largest documented case of IMT in a pediatric patient and the first report of IMT with malignant transformation originating from the pelvic extraperitoneal space. | Chia-Hsun Lu Hsuan-Ying Huang Han-Koo Chen Jiin-Haur Chuang Shu-Hang Ng Sheung-Fat Ko | 2010 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2010,16,21: | 9 |
| 9 | Lotus Leaf‑Derived Gradient Hierarchical Porous C/MoS2 Morphology Genetic Composites with Wideband and Tunable Electromagnetic Absorption Performance显示文摘Inspired by the nature,lotus leaf-derived gradient hierarchical porous C/MoS2 morphology genetic composites(GHPCM)were successfully fabricated through an in situ strategy.The biological microstructure of lotus leaf was well preserved after treatment.Different pores with gradient pore sizes ranging from 300 to 5μm were hierarchically distributed in the composites.In addition,the surface states of lotus leaf resulted in the Janus-like morphologies of MoS2.The GHPCM exhibit excellent electromagnetic wave absorption performance,with the minimum reflection loss of−50.1 dB at a thickness of 2.4 mm and the maximum effective bandwidth of 6.0 GHz at a thickness of 2.2 mm.The outstanding performance could be attributed to the synergy of conductive loss,polarization loss,and impedance matching.In particularly,we provided a brand-new dielectric sum-quotient model to analyze the electromagnetic performance of the non-magnetic material system.It suggests that the specific sum and quotient of permittivity are the key to keep reflection loss below−10 dB within a certain frequency range.Furthermore,based on the concept of material genetic engineering,the dielectric constant could be taken into account to seek for suitable materials with designable electromagnetic absorption performance. | Fei Pan Zhicheng Liu Baiwen Deng Yanyan Dong Xiaojie Zhu Chuang Huang Wei Lu | 2021 | Nano-Micro Letters2021,13,3: | 9 |
| 10 | Straw layer burial to alleviate salt stress in silty loam soils: Impacts of straw forms显示文摘Salt stress can be alleviated by straw layer burial in the soil, but little is known of the appropriate form of the straw layer for optimal regulation of soil water and salinity because of the uncontrollability of field tests. Here, the following four straw forms with compaction thickness of 5 cm buried 40–45 deep were studied: no straw layer(CK), segmented straw(SL, 5 cm in length), straw pellet(SK), and straw powder(SF). The three straw forms(SL, SK and SF) significantly delayed the infiltration of irrigation water down the column profile by 71.20–134.3 h relative to CK and the migration velocity of the wetting front under SF was the slowest. It took longer for the wetting front to transcend SK than SL but shorter for it to reach the bottom of soil column after water crossed the straw layer. Compared with CK, the average volumetric water content in the 0–40 cm soil layer increased by 6.45% under SL, 1.77% under SK and 5.39% under SF. The desalination rates at the 0–40 and 0–100 cm soil layers increased by 5.85 and 3.76% under SL, 6.64 and 1.47% under SK and 5.97 and 4.82% under SF. However, there was no significant difference among straw forms in the 0–40 cm soil layer. Furthermore, the salt leaching efficiency(SLE, g mm^–1 h^–1) above the 40 cm layer under SL was 0.0097, being significantly higher than that under SF(0.0071) by 37.23%. Salt storage under SL, SK and SF in the 40–45 cm layer accounted for 4.50, 16.92 and 7.43% of total storage in the 1-m column profile. Cumulative evaporation under SL and SF decreased significantly by 41.20 and 49.00%, with both treatments having the most significant inhibition of salt accumulation(resalinization rate being 36.06 and 47.15% lower than CK) in the 0–40 cm soil layer. In conclusion, the different forms of straw layers have desalting effects under high irrigation level(446 mm). In particular, SL and SF performed better than SK in promoting deep salt leaching and inhibiting salt accumulation on the soil surface. However, SL was simpler to implement and its SLE was higher. | 11 | A Systematic Assessment of Blood Lead Level in Children and Associated Risk Factors in China显示文摘In this study, we searched multiple databases for all relevant original articles (1996-2013). To investigate blood lead levels (BLL) and possible risk factors for lead exposure among children in China A total of 388 articles met our inclusion criteria. The overall geometric mean (GM) BLL was 71 IJ.g/L, and the prevalence of elevated BLL (EBLL, defined as BLL 〉_100 Ixg/L) was l&.4&% among children. The prevalence of EBLL remained significantly higher among boys. In children less than 6 years of age, there were significantly increasing trends in both BLL and prevalence of EBLL in an age-dependent manner. The ban on leaded gasoline significantly reduced the BLL as well as EBLL prevalence; however, children whose parents had lower educational levels or were exposed to lead in the workplace had a higher EBLL prevalence. Despite its decline over time, the average BLL among children in China remains higher than the average level most recently reported in the United States. | 12 | Condition-based maintenance optimization for continuously monitored degrading systems under imperfect maintenance actions显示文摘Condition-based maintenance(CBM) is receiving increasing attention in various engineering systems because of its effectiveness. This paper formulates a new CBM optimization problem for continuously monitored degrading systems considering imperfect maintenance actions. In terms of maintenance actions,in practice, they scarcely restore the system to an as-good-as new state due to residual damage. According to up-to-data researches, imperfect maintenance actions are likely to speed up the degradation process. Regarding the developed CBM optimization strategy, it can balance the maintenance cost and the availability by the searching the optimal preventive maintenance threshold.The maximum number of maintenance is also considered, which is regarded as an availability constraint in the CBM optimization problem. | 13 | Effect of chemical vapor infiltration treatment on the wave-absorbing performance of carbon fiber/cement composites显示文摘Short carbon fibers were treated at high temperatures around 1100°C through chemical vapor infiltration technology. A thinner layer of pyrocarbon was deposited on the fiber surface. The dispersion of carbon fibers in a cement matrix and the mechanical properties of carbon fiber/cement composites were investigated by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and other tests. The reflec-tivity of electromagnetic waves by the composites was measured in the frequency range of 8.0-18 GHz for different carbon fiber contents of 0.2wt%, 0.4wt%, 0.6wt%, and 1.0wt%. The results show that the reflectivity tends to increase with the increase of fiber content above 0.4wt%. The minimum reflectivity is -19.3 dB and the composites exhibit wave-absorbing performances. After pyro-carbon is deposited on the fiber, all the reflectivity data are far greater. | 14 | A Risk-Averse Remaining Useful Life Estimation for Predictive Maintenance显示文摘Remaining useful life(RUL)prediction is an advanced technique for system maintenance scheduling.Most of existing RUL prediction methods are only interested in the precision of RUL estimation;the adverse impact of overestimated RUL on maintenance scheduling is not of concern.In this work,an RUL estimation method with risk-averse adaptation is developed which can reduce the over-estimation rate while maintaining a reasonable under-estimation level.The proposed method includes a module of degradation feature selection to obtain crucial features which reflect system degradation trends.Then,the latent structure between the degradation features and the RUL labels is modeled by a support vector regression(SVR)model and a long short-term memory(LSTM)network,respectively.To enhance the prediction robustness and increase its marginal utility,the SVR model and the LSTM model are integrated to generate a hybrid model via three connection parameters.By designing a cost function with penalty mechanism,the three parameters are determined using a modified grey wolf optimization algorithm.In addition,a cost metric is proposed to measure the benefit of such a risk-averse predictive maintenance method.Verification is done using an aero-engine data set from NASA.The results show the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed RUL estimation method and the predictive maintenance strategy. | Chuang Chen Ningyun Lu Bin Jiang Cunsong Wang | 2021 | IEEE/CAA Journal of Automatica Sinica2021,8,2: | 4 |

| 17 | Low temperature induces oocytes p34^(cdc2) synthesis and accumulation-the acquisition of competence to resume meiosis in toad oocytes显示文摘Full grown oocytes derived from Bufo Bufo gargarizans rearing at high temperature environment (24℃),never underwent GVBD after progesterone treatment. No p34cdc2, H1 kinase activity was detected in the oocytes after progesterone stimulation or OA microinjection; Western blotting analysis showed that the level of p3cdc2, and p33 in the oocytes are significantly lower than those in the oocytes derived from the hibernating toads (below 10 ℃). 25S-Met incorporation analysis showed that when the oocytes were incubated at 6℃, synthesis of about thirty defferent polypeptides was promoted or induced, including p34cdc2 and some other p13suc1-binding proteins. All these results indicated that a low temperature environment is essential for the oocytes of Bufo Bufo gargarizans to express and store some cell cycle drivers and its regulators, and to gain the maturation competence. | 18 | Preventive and therapeutic effectiveness of Sanfu acupoint herbal patching for chronic obstructive pulmonary disease at stable stages:a systematic review and Meta-analysis显示文摘OBJECTIVE:To evaluate the preventive and therapeutic effects of Sanfu acupoint herbal patching(SAHP)in adjuvant treatment in patients with stable chronic obstructive pulmonary disease(COPD).METHODS:We had searched eight electronic databases and six major trial registries from their inception to July 2017 for randomized controlled trials(RCTs).We utilized RevMan 5.3 to evaluate the methodological quality and to perform data analyses.RESULTS:A total of 28 RCTs involving 1615 records were included in the descriptive analysis,and 25 RCTs were performed for Meta-analysis.Lung function such as forced vital capacity rate of one second FEV1/predicted%,forced vital capacity(FVC)%found no significant difference.The results of Meta-analysis showed that SAHP plus conventional therapy(CT)in the treatment of stable COPD were better than CT,in second sessions'data of FEV1,in third sessions'data of FEV1/FVC,in three sessions'data of SGRQ,in third session's data of Modified Medical Research Council and 6MWT.The symptoms of SAHP's adverse reactions seem to be mild and the incidence of that seems to be low.Descriptive analysis shows that SAHP with CT seems to improve clinical effective rate and had a certain preventive effect on acute exacerbation of COPD,which the curative effect may be better with the increase of treatment course.CONCLUSION:SAHP with CT appears to be more effective than CT or CT plus placebo only on improving the quality of life,but the effect on lung function is not obvious.Improve clinical effective rate and preventive effect is uncertainty.SAHP with CT may be used in any Grade to safely treat patients with stable COPD.The more exactly clinical effect still needs to be proved by more high-quality,large sampling,multilingual RCTs. | Pang Lijian Zhang Haoyang Lu Xiaodong Liu Jianping Liu Chuang Lu Ling | 2020 | Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine2020,40,4: | 3 |
