| 1 | The dynamics of the piglet gut microbiome during the weaning transition in association with health and nutrition显示文摘Background: Understanding the composition of the microbial community and its functional capacity during weaning is important for pig production as bacteria play important roles in the pig's health and growth performance. However,limited information is available regarding the composition and function of the gut microbiome of piglets in early-life.Therefore, we performed 16 S rRNA gene and whole metagenome shotgun sequencing of DNA from fecal samples from healthy piglets during weaning to measure microbiome shifts, and to identify the potential contribution of the early-life microbiota in shaping piglet health with a focus on microbial stress responses, carbohydrate and amino acid metabolism.Results: The analysis of 16 S rR NA genes and whole metagenome shotgun sequencing revealed significant compositional and functional differences between the fecal microbiome in nursing and weaned piglets. The fecal microbiome of the nursing piglets showed higher relative abundance of bacteria in the genus Bacteroides with abundant gene families related to the utilization of lactose and galactose. Prevotel a and Lactobacil us were enriched in weaned piglets with an enrichment for the gene families associated with carbohydrate and amino acid metabolism. | 9 | Escherichia coli challenge and one type of smectite alter intestinal barrier of pigs显示文摘An experiment was conducted to determine how an E. coli challenge and dietary clays affect the intestinal barrier of pigs. Two groups of 32 pigs(initial BW: 6.9 土 1.0 kg) were distributed in a 2 x 4 factorial arrangement of a randomized complete block design(2 challenge treatments: sham or £ coli, and 4 dietary treatments: control, 0.3%smectite A, 0.3% smectite B and 0.3% zeolite), with 8 replicates total. Diarrhea score, growth performance, goblet cell size and number, bacterial translocation from intestinal lumen to lymph nodes, intestinal morphology, and relative amounts of sulfo and sialo mucins were measured. The £ coli challenge reduced performance, increased goblet cell size and number in the ileum, increased bacterial translocation from the intestinal lumen to the lymph nodes, and increased ileal crypt depth. One of the clays(smectite A) tended to increase goblet cell size in ileum,which may indicate enhanced protection. | 14 | Development of large acceptance multi-purpose spectrometer in Korea for symmetry energy显示文摘The Rare Isotope Accelerator complex for ONline experiments(RAON) is a new radioactive ion beam accelerator facility under construction in Korea. The large acceptance multi-purpose spectrometer(LAMPS) is one of the experimental devices for nuclear physics at RAON. It focuses on the nuclear symmetry energy at supra-saturation densities. The LAMPS Collaboration has developed and constructed various detector elements, including a time projection chamber(TPC) and a forward neutron detector array. From the positron beam test, the drift velocity of the secondary electrons in the TPC is 5:3±0:2 cm/ls with P10 gas mixture, and the position resolution for pads with dimensions of 4×15 mm^2 is in the range of$ 0.6–0.8 mm, depending on the beam position. | 16 | Surface Characteristics of Mussel-inspired Polydopamine Coating on Titanium Substrates显示文摘Mussel adhesive proteins are non-toxic, biodegradable and have low immunogenic qualities that make them highly attractive for medical purposes compared with man-made materials. 3,4-DOPA, which is a dopamine precursor, is a critical element for achieving mussel-like adhesive properties. In present study, polydopamine was coated onto the titanium surfaces by dipping in a 2 mg/mL dopamine solution in 10 mM TrisHCl buffer at pH 8.5. EDX element analysis and Raman spectroscopic analysis of the surface were conducted to verify the formation of polydopamine. The surface characteristics of polydopamine-coated titanium plates were observed by SEM and AFM. Hydrophilicity and corrosion-resistance were also evaluated by static contact angle measurements and potentiodynamic polarization corrosion tests. The absorption intensity for pH-induced polymerization rapidly increased for the initial four hours and thereafter smoothly increased. EDX element analyses revealed that the content of carbon and oxygen increased and the content of titanium decreased after the coating process. In the Raman spectra, polydopamine resulted in two new peaks at approximately 1 370 and 1 570 cm-1resulting from the stretching and deformation of catechol. Microstructural features revealed that nanometer-sized bright granules were randomly distributed after coating, and these nanoparticles grew with increased coating time. The Ra values of polydopamine-coated titanium plates were showed to increase with coating time. Compared to the pure titanium curve, the inflection point of polydopamine-coated titanium was located at a higher corrosion potential and lower corrosion current density.
