1Architectural proteins for the formation and maintenance of the 3D genome显示文摘Eukaryotic genomes are densely packaged into hierarchical three-dimensional(3D) structures that contain information about gene regulation and many other biological processes. With the development of imaging and sequencing-based technologies, 3D genome studies have revealed that the high-order chromatin structure is composed of hierarchical levels, including chromosome territories, A/B compartments, topologically associated domains, and chromatin loops. However, how this chromatin architecture is formed and maintained is not completely clear. 2Magnetic properties of surface soils across the southern Tarim Basin and their relationship with climate and source materials显示文摘The magnetic susceptibility (χ) of surface soils on the Chinese Loess Plateau (CLP) has strong positive correlation with mean annual precipitation.It is widely accepted that ultrafine magnetite/maghemite grains produced during pedogenesis are responsible for the enhancement of χ,and loess χ on the CLP has been widely used as a proxy for the intensity of the East Asian summer monsoon.However,few works have investigated mechanisms for the enhancement of χ in the case of surface aeolian sediments in westerly-dominated inland China,north of the Tibetan Plateau.Here detailed rock magnetism and grain size studies of 49 surface samples taken across the southern Tarim Basin for different rainfall/temperature/altitude conditions are presented.The results show that samples taken from desert have the lowest χ values and that χ of loessic sand and loess samples decreases with increasing altitude.In addition,the rock magnetism studies suggest that the magnetic properties of surface soils across the southern Tarim Basin are mainly controlled by the concentration of coarse aeolian ferrimagnetic minerals.The contribution of ultrafine pedogenically produced magnetic grains to χ is very limited.ZAN JinBo FANG XiaoMin NIE JunSheng YANG ShengLi SONG ChunHui DAI Shuang 2011Chinese Science Bulletin2011,56,3:5
3A nomogram to predict prognosis for gastric cancer with peritoneal dissemination显示文摘Objective: To identify independent prognostic factors to be included in a nomogram to predict the prognosis of gastric cancer patients with peritoneal dissemination.Methods: This is a retrospective study on 684 patients with a histological diagnosis of gastric cancer with peritoneal dissemination from the Sun Yat-sen University Cancer Center as the development set, and 62 gastric cancer patients from the Sixth Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University as the validation group. Chi-square test and Cox regression analysis were used to compare the clinicopathological variables and the prognosis of gastric cancer patients with peritoneal dissemination. The Harrell's concordance index(C-index) and calibration curve were determined for comparisons of predictive ability of the nomogram.Results: Univariate and multivariate analyses showed that serum carcinoembryonic antigen(CEA) level(P=0.032), ascites grading(P=0.008), presence of extraperitoneal metastasis(P<0.001), seeding status(P=0.016) and performance status(P=0.009) were independent prognostic factors for gastric cancer patients with peritoneal dissemination in the development set. The nomogram model was constructed using these five factors. Internal validation showed that the C-index of the model was 0.641. For the external validation, the C-index of this model was 0.709.Conclusions: We developed and validated a nomogram to predict the prognosis for gastric cancer patients with peritoneal dissemination. 5Release and uptake mechanisms of vesicular Ca^2+stores显示文摘Cells utilize calcium ions(Ca^2+)to signal almost all aspects of cellular life,ranging from cell proliferation to cell death,in a spatially and temporally regulated manner.A key aspect of this regulation is the compartmen-talization of Ca^2+in various cytoplasmic organelles that act as intracellular Ca^2+stores.Whereas Ca^2+release from the large-volume Ca^2+stores,such as the endoplasmic reticulum(ER)and Golgi apparatus,are preferred for signal transduction,Ca^2+release from the small-volume individual vesicular stores that are dispersed throughout the cell,such as lysosomes,may be more useful in local regulation,such as membrane fusion and individualized vesicular movements.Conceivably,these two types of Ca^2+stores may be established,maintained or refilled via distinct mechanisms.ER stores are refilled through sustained Ca^2+influx at ER-plasma membrane(PM)membrane contact sites(MCSs).In this review,we discuss the release and refilling mechanisms of intracellular small vesicular Ca^2+stores,with a special focus on lysosomes.Recent imaging studies of Ca2+release and organelle MCSs suggest that Ca^2+exchange may occur between two types of stores,such that the small stores acquire Ca^2+from the large stores via ER-vesicle MCSs.Hence vesicular stores like lysosomes may be viewed as secondary Ca^2+stores in the cell.Junsheng Yang Zhuangzhuang Zhao Mingxue Gu Xinghua Feng Haoxing Xu 2019Protein & Cell2019,10,1:3
6Bulk nanocrystalline Al prepared by cryomilling显示文摘Bulk nanocrystalline Al was fabricated by mechanically milling at cryogenic temperature (cryomilling) and then by hot pressing in vacuum. By using X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and transmission electron microscopy (TEM), the microstructure evolution of the material during cryomilling and consolidation was investigated. With increasing the mill- ing time, the grain size decreased sharply and reduced to 42 nm when cryomilled for 12 h. The grains had grown up, and the colum- nar grain was formed under the hot pressing and extrusion compared with the cryomilled powders. The grain size of as-extruded specimen was approximately 300-500 nm. The reason of high thermal stability of this bulk was attributed primarily to the Zener pin- ning from the grain boundary of the AlN arising from cryomilling and the solute drag of the impurity. Tensile tests show that the strength of nanocrystalline Al is enhanced with decreasing grain size. The ultimate tensile strength and tensile elongation were 173 MPa and 17.5%, respectively. 7Three-dimensionally Ordered Macroporous Phosphotungstic Acid/SiO2 for Efficient Catalytic Oxidative Desulfurization显示文摘Three-dimensionally ordered(3DOM) macroporous phosphotungstic acid/SiO_2(HPW/SiO_2) materials were prepared by using colloidal crystal as templates and applied for oxidative desulfurization(ODS) of the model fuel oil. The obtained HPW/SiO_2 materials were characterized through scanning electron microscopy, powder X-ray diffraction, N_2 sorption, and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy. The results indicated that 3 DOM HPW/SiO_2 possessed hierarchical pore architectures which contained ordered macropores and disordered mesopores, with the Keggin type HPW embedded in the framework of pore structure. The removal rate of dibenzothiophene(DBT) could reach 100% under the optimum conditions, moreover. 9Arabidopsis U-box E3 ubiquitin ligase PUB11 negatively regulates drought tolerance by degrading the receptor-like protein kinases LRR1 and KIN7显示文摘Both plant receptor-like protein kinases(RLKs)and ubiquitin-mediated proteolysis play crucial roles in plant responses to drought stress.However,the mechanism by which E3 ubiquitin ligases modulate RLKs is poorly understood.In this study,we showed that Arabidopsis PLANT U-BOX PROTEIN 11(PUB11),an E3 ubiquitin ligase,negatively regulates abscisic acid(ABA)-mediated drought responses.PUB11 interacts with and ubiquitinates two receptor-like protein kinases,LEUCINE RICH REPEAT PROTEIN 1(LRR1)and KINASE 7(KIN7),and mediates their degradation during plant responses to drought stress in vitro and in vivo.pub11 mutants were more tolerant,whereas Irr1 and kin7 mutants were more sensitive,to drought stress than the wild type.Genetic analyses show that the pub11 Irr1 kin7 triple mutant exhibited similar drought sensitivity as the Irr1 kin7 double mutant,placing PUB11 upstream of the two RLKs.Abscisic acid and drought treatment promoted the accumulation of PUB11,which likely accelerates LRR1 and KIN7 degradation.Together,our results reveal that PUB11 negatively regulates plant responses to drought stress by destabilizing the LRR1 and KIN7 RLKs.Xuexue Chen Tingting Wang Amin Ur Rehman Yu Wang Junsheng Qi Zhen Li Chunpeng Song Baoshan Wang Shuhua Yang Zhizhong Gong 2021Journal of Integrative Plant Biology2021,63,3:2
10Simple hybrid dithiafulvenes-triphenylamine systems as dopant-free hole-transporting materials for efficient perovskite solar cells显示文摘Two extended hybrid conjugated systems based on a triphenylamine(TPA) core with two and three peripheral 1,4-dithiafulvenes(DTF) units coded WH-2 and WH-3 as hole-transporting materials(HTMs) applied in perovskite solar cells(PSCs) are synthesized by facile one-step reaction in good yield over 75%. DTF unit as electron donor can enhance the electron donating ability and the fusion of benzenic ring of TPA with DTF unit may lead to reinforced intermolecular interactions in the solid state. In addition,WH-2 and WH-3 exhibit a pyramid shape containing partial planarity and quasi three-dimensionality features, which is also conducive to enhancing the π-π stacking of molecules in the solid state. The above-mentioned structural characteristics make the two HTMs have good hole mobilities. As a result,WH-2 and WH-3 obtained the high intrinsic hole mobilities of 4.69 × 10^(-4)and 2.18 × 10^(-3)cm^(2)V^(-1)s^(-1)respectively. 11Synthesis and characterization of nanocrystalline Ni produced by cryomilling in liquid nitrogen显示文摘Nanocrystalline Ni powders were successfully fabricated by mechanically milling at cryogenic temperature (cryomilling)with 1 wt.%Y2O3 particles. The experimental results have shown that the Ni grain size is reduced to 25 nm after 2 h of cryomilling in the presence of the Y2O3 particles. The cryomilled Ni/Y2O3 powders can maintain their nanocrystalline structure up to 900°C, or 62% of the melting point of Ni. A bulk nanocrystalline Ni/Y2O3 material with a thermally stable grain size of approximately 100 nm was produced by cryomilling, cold isostatic pressing, followed by hot isostatic pressing.
