2Early tectonic uplift of the northern Tibetan Plateau显示文摘The Hexi Corridor is the northmost foreland basin of the Tibetan Plateau and its formation is controlled by the northern marginal fault of Tibet, Altyn Tagh Fault (ATF)-North Qilian Shan marginal Fault (NQF), and the southern Kuantan Shan-Longshou Shan Fault (KLF). So its study is important to understanding the mechanism of Tibet formation and its influence on global climate change. The oldest Cenozoic sediments in the Corridor is the Huoshaogou Formation which consists of terrigenous fine conglomerate, sandstone, sandy mudstone and mudstone, depositing in alluvial to lacustrine and fan delta sedimentary environments. Detailed paleomagnetic measurements of this sequence at Yumen clearly reveal eleven pairs of normal and reversed polarities. Fossil mammals found around the section support that most of the observed polarities can be well correlated with chrons between 13n and 18r of the standard geomagnetic polarity time scale, yielding ages of 40.2-33.35 Ma. The mean declinations of this sequence and its immediately above stratigraphy indicate an 18.3° rapid clockwise rotation of the Hexi Corridor. Since this sequence has been strongly folded and is capped by an angular unconformity, we think that the presence of the thick alluvial fan conglomeration at the bottom of the foreland basin may indicate the initial deformation and uplift of the northern Qilian Shan. This process could occur at latest at 40.2 Ma, driven by the faults NQF and KLF that thrust onto the Hexi corridor respectively from its southern and northern margins. 3Relative effects of phylogeny,biological characters and environments on leaf traits in shrub biomes across central Inner Mongolia,China显示文摘Aims Understanding the drivers for leaf traits is critical to improving our predictions on ecosystems'responses to global changes.Geographic patterns of leaf traits are shaped by phylogenetic,biological and environmental factors simultaneously.However,till now few studies have examined how these factors influenced leaf traits together,and how their effects differed at the within-and among-site levels.Methods We sampled leaf traits from a 1100 km shrub-biome transect across central Inner-Mongolia,including leaf mass per area(LMA),mass-based photosynthetic rate,nitrogen(N)and phosphorus(P)concentrations.We examined the effects of phylogenetic,biological(height and growth rate)and environmental(climate and soil)fac-tors on leaf traits with mixed-model analyses of variance.Variation partitioning method was used to separate the joint and independent effects of these three types of factors.Important Findings(i)Climate and soil fertility(total or available nutrient concentra-tions)together explained 11.4-41.4%of among-site variations,with remarkable difference among traits.(i)Height and height growth rate together explained 0.4--31.9%of trait variations(mostly among-site variations).Our results could only weakly support the ability of leaf traits as predictors for whole-plant growth.(ii)LMA was negatively related to height,which was consistent with the resource-use strategy hypothesis but incon-sistent with the hypotheses proposed for coexisting trees,suggest-ing that the LMA--height relationship is shaped by rather different mechanisms between the within-and among-communities lev-els.(iv)The variation partitioning analysis showed that,the rela-tionships between leaf traits and biological characters largely reflected the differences in both leaf traits and biological char-acters among species that occupying different sites.The relative importance of phylogenetic,biological and environmental fac-tors differed remarkably among leaf traits,between the within-and among-communities levels,and between different biomes.(v)Our results strongly suggest the necessity of examining the three types of factors simultaneously,and at both the within-and among-communities levels,for a better understanding of the drivers for leaf traits patterns.Chao Liu Xiangping Wang Xian Wu Shuang Dai Jin-Sheng He Weilun Yin 2013Journal of Plant Ecology2013,6,3:19

5Magnetostratigraphy of the Zanda basin in southwest Tibet Plateau and its tectonic implications显示文摘The Zanda basin is one of the very important basins at the north slope of the Himalaya Range. Thus the study of the basin strata will provide critical information about the tectonic evolution of the Himalayan Orogenic Belt. 268 oriented block samples were collected in the 750-m-thick sections of the Zanda ba- sin. The characteristic remanent magnetization (ChRM) was isolated that decays linearly to the origin between 500oC and 690oC for most studied samples. An age range of 9.5―2.6 Ma was estimated from the correlation between our observed polarity column and the Geomagnetic Polarity Time Scale (GPTS). The age of the Zanda basin does not support the models that the South Tibetan Detach system (STDS) is one of the basin controlling faults. 6Late Eocene pollen records and palaeoenvironmental changes in northern Tibetan Plateau显示文摘The Eocene palaeovegetation landscape and palaeoclimate reconstructed from the pollen records in the Jiuquan Basin, northwest China provide some important information on the early uplift of the Tibetan Plateau and the origin and evolution of the aridification in northwest China. The records show the arid-semiarid scrubs with open forest palynofloras controlled by the subtropical high existed in northwest China during the 40.2-33.4 Ma. Four pollen assemblages are found: Nitrariadites-Cheno-podipollis-Pinaceae assemblage (40.2-37.9 Ma) is followed by Chenopodipollis-Nitrariadites assemblage (37.9-34.6 Ma), Pinuspollenites & Abietineaepollenites-Chenopodipollis assemblage (34.6-33.9 Ma), and Chenopodipollis-Nitrariadites assemblage (33.9-33.4 Ma). The percentage of thermophilic types is in anti-correlation with that of the dry types, which means the palaeoclimate is relatively warmwet or cold-dry during most of that time. 7Association between large artery stenosis,cerebral small vessel disease and risk of ischemic stroke显示文摘We aimed to assess the associations of large artery stenosis(LAS)and cerebral small vessel disease(CSVD)with the risk of ischemic stroke and to investigate their respective and combined contributions.In the prospective population-based Shunyi Study,1,082 stroke-free participants aged 55.9±9.1 years were included.Participants were followed for incident stroke throughout the study period(2013-2019).Total small vessel disease score was used to measure CSVD burden.Cervico-cerebral large artery stenosis was evaluated via brain magnetic resonance angiography and carotid ultrasound.We estimated the risk of ischemic stroke in relation to LAS and CSVD with Cox regression models.During a mean follow-up of 4.2 years,34 participants(3.1%)experienced at least one ischemic stroke.Severe LAS(≥50% stenosis versus no stenosis:HR=3.27(95%CI:1.31-8.18))and high CSVD burden(total small vessel disease score 2-4 versus 0 point:HR=12.73(4.83-33.53))were associated with increased stroke risk independently.In multivariate models,CSVD burden(7.72%)explained a larger portion of the variation in stroke risk than severity of LAS(3.49%).Our findings identified that both LAS and CSVD were associated with future ischemic stroke in asymptomatic subjects,while those with high CSVD burden deserve more attention in primary prevention of stroke.Fei Han Ding-Ding Zhang Fei-Fei Zhai Jun Xue Jiang-Tao Zhang Shuang Yan Li-Xin Zhou Jun Ni Ming Yao Meng Yang Ming-Li Li Zheng-Yu Jin Qing Dai Shu-Yang Zhang Li-Ying Cui Yi-Cheng Zhu 2021Science China(Life Sciences)2021,64,9:9

9Tectonic and Environmental Evolutions of the Northern Tibetan Plateau Prior to the Collision of India with Asia显示文摘Tectonic and environmental patterns and evolution of the present North Tibetan Plateau(NTP) prior to the India collision with Asia is significant to understand the formation of the Tibetan Plateau and its influence on the environment. In this study, we integrated and analyzed the tectonostratigraphy and the special sedimentary layers whose climatic implications are clear in the NTP. Additionally, we stressed the tectonic and environmental events and their evolutions from the Mesozoic to the Early Cenozoic. Our results show that four tectonic phases, which sequentially took place during the Triassic, Jurassic, Cretaceous and Paleogene, played an important role on the formation of the North Tibet. The climate was basically dry and hot from the Triassic to the Eocene and became dry and cool since the Oligocene in this region. The climatic evolution was characterized by a transition from a wet and hot phase during the Triassic- Middle Jurassic, to a dry and hot phase during the Late Jurassic- Eocene. Both phases encompassed 5 wet and hot periods followed by 5 dry and hot climate events, respectively. In addition, we found that the tectonic deformation and the climatic conditions were spatially and temporally different. In detail, in the regions north of the PaleoTian Shan and Paleo-Qilian Mts. the tectonic deformation and climatic condition were stronger and wetter than in regions south of the Paleo-Tian Shan and Paleo-Qilian Mts. during the Late Triassic – Jurassic. Whereas in the Cretaceous, the tectonic movement was intensive in the west but steady in the east, and climate was dry in the south but wet in the north of NTP. The formation of the tectonic and climatic patterns in NTP were the consequence of either global climate change or regional tectonics, including the Paleo-Asian Ocean closure and the Qiangtang block, Lhasa block and India plate collision subsequently to Asia. 10Magnetic properties of surface soils across the southern Tarim Basin and their relationship with climate and source materials显示文摘The magnetic susceptibility (χ) of surface soils on the Chinese Loess Plateau (CLP) has strong positive correlation with mean annual precipitation.It is widely accepted that ultrafine magnetite/maghemite grains produced during pedogenesis are responsible for the enhancement of χ,and loess χ on the CLP has been widely used as a proxy for the intensity of the East Asian summer monsoon.However,few works have investigated mechanisms for the enhancement of χ in the case of surface aeolian sediments in westerly-dominated inland China,north of the Tibetan Plateau.Here detailed rock magnetism and grain size studies of 49 surface samples taken across the southern Tarim Basin for different rainfall/temperature/altitude conditions are presented.The results show that samples taken from desert have the lowest χ values and that χ of loessic sand and loess samples decreases with increasing altitude.In addition,the rock magnetism studies suggest that the magnetic properties of surface soils across the southern Tarim Basin are mainly controlled by the concentration of coarse aeolian ferrimagnetic minerals.The contribution of ultrafine pedogenically produced magnetic grains to χ is very limited.ZAN JinBo FANG XiaoMin NIE JunSheng YANG ShengLi SONG ChunHui DAI Shuang 2011Chinese Science Bulletin2011,56,3:5
11Bistratal Au@Bi2S3 nanobones for excellent NIR-triggered/multimodal imaging-guided synergistic therapy for liver cancer显示文摘To fabricate a highly biocompatible nanoplatform enabling synergistic therapy and real-time imaging,novel Au@Bi2S3 core shell nanobones(NBs)(Au@Bi2S3 NBs)with Au nanorods as cores were synthesized.The combination of Au nanorods with Bi2S3 film made the Au@Bi2S3 NBs exhibit ultrahigh photothermal(PT)conversion efficiency,remarkable photoacoustic(PA)imaging and high computed tomography(CT)performance;these Au@Bi2S3 NBs thus are a promising nanotheranostic agent for PT/PA/CT imaging.Subsequently,poly(N-vinylpyrrolidone)-modified Au@Bi2S3 NBs(Au@Bi2S3-PVP NBs)were successfully loaded with the anticancer drug doxorubicin(DOX),and a satisfactory pH sensitive release profile was achieved,thus revealing the great potential of Au@Bi2S3-PVP NBs in chemotherapy as a drug carrier to deliver DOX into cancer cells.Both in vitro and in vivo investigations demonstrated that the Au@Bi2S3-PVP NBs possessed multiple desired features for cancer therapy,including extremely low toxicity,good biocompatibility,high drug loading ability,precise tumor targeting and effective accumulation.Highly efficient ablation of the human liver cancer cell HepG2 was achieved through Au@Bi2S3-PVP NB-mediated photothermal therapy(PTT).As both a contrast enhancement probe and therapeutic agent,Au@Bi2S3-PVP NBs provided outstanding NIR-triggered multi-modal PT/PA/CT imaging-guided PTT and effectively inhibited the growth of HepG2 liver cancer cells via synergistic chemo/PT therapy.Ruizhuo Ouyang Penghui Cao Pengpeng Jia Hui Wang Tianyu Zong Chenyu Dai Jie Yuan Yuhao Li Dong Sun Ning Guo Yuqing Miao Shuang Zhou 2021Bioactive Materials2021,6,2:5

13Resveratrol elongates the lifespan and improves antioxidant activity in the silkworm Bombyx mori显示文摘A number of research has shown that the plant polyphenol resveratrol,one of the most prominent small molecules,has beneficial protective effects in multiple organisms,including worms,flies,and killifish.To understand the effects of resveratrol on lifespan,we evaluated its effects in the silkworm Bombyx mori.In this study,we found that lifespan was significantly prolonged in both female and male silkworms treated with resveratrol.Silkworm larval weight was significantly increased from day 3 of the 5th larval instar(L5D3)to day 7 of the 5th larval instar(L5D7).However,the weight of the pupa,cocoon,and total cocoon was not significantly different in female silkworms with resveratrol treatment than that in controls.Meanwhile,resveratrol significantly improved the thermotolerance of the silkworms,which enhanced their survival rate.Moreover,antioxidant activity was increased by resveratrol in both female and male silkworms.Furthermore,an antioxidant-related signalling pathway,SIRT7-FoxO-GST,was activated in silkworms with resveratrol treatment.Collectively,these results help us to understand the molecular pathways underlying resveratrol induced pro-longevity effects and indicate that silkworm is a promising animal model for evaluating the effects of lifespan-extending drugs.Jiangbo Song Lian Liu Kaige Hao Shuang Mao Yongxi Tang Xiaoling Tong Fangyin Dai 2021Journal of Pharmaceutical Analysis2021,11,3:4
143D Printing Hip Prostheses Offer Accurate Reconstruction,Stable Fixation,and Functional Recovery for Revision Total Hip Arthroplasty with Complex Acetabular Bone Defect显示文摘Complicated and large acetabular bone defects present the main challenges and difficulty in the revision of total hip arthroplasty(THA).This study aimed to explore the advantages of three-dimensional(3D)printing technology in the reconstruction of such acetabular bone defects.We retrospectively analyzed the prognosis of four severe bone defects around the acetabulum in three patients who were treated using 3D printing technology.Reconstruction of bone defect by conventional methods was difficult in these patients.In this endeavor,we used radiographic methods,related computer software such as Materialise's interactive medical image control system and Siemens NX software,and actual surgical experience to estimate defect volume,prosthesis stability,and installation accuracy,respectively.Moreover,a Harris hip score was obtained to evaluate limb function.It was found that bone defects could be adequately reconstructed using a 3D printing prosthesis,and its stability was reliable.The Harris hip score indicated a very good functional recovery in all three patients.In conclusion,3D printing technology had a good therapeutic effect on both complex and large bone defects in the revision of THA.It was able to achieve good curative effects in patients with large bone defects.Yongqiang Hao Lei Wang Wenbo Jiang Wen Wu Songtao Ai Lu Shen Shuang Zhao Kerong Dai 2020Engineering2020,6,11:4
15Mid-Cretaceous Hothouse Climate and the Expansion of Early Angiosperms显示文摘The remarkable transition of early angiosperms from a small to a dominant group characterized the terrestrial ecosystem of the Cretaceous. This transition was instigated and promoted by environmental changes. Mid-Cretaceous is characterized by major geological events that affected the global environment. δ^(18)O, palaeothermometer TEX86, and other climatic indices from marine sediments suggest rapid temperature increase during mid-Cretaceous despite occasional short cooling events. Simultaneously, terrestrial deposits in East Asia changed from coal-bearing to shale, then to red beds and evaporites. Plant assemblages and other paleoclimate indicators point to rapid aridification for midCretaceous terrestrial environments. In addition, the wildfires were frequently spread all over the earth by the numerous charcoal evidence during the Mid-Cretaceous. Thus, we speculate that the seasonally dry and hot conditions of mid-Cretaceous created a fiery hothouse world. Early angiosperms increased in abundance and diversity and evolved from a few aquatic species to terrestrial herbaceous and then to the diversified flora of today. Angiosperms showed rapid physiological evolution in vein density and leaf area that improved photosynthesis and water absorption. These ecophysiological changes made early angiosperms well adapted to the hot and dry environment in mid-Cretaceous. 16Wide-field auroral imager onboard the Fengyun satellite显示文摘The newly launched Fengyun-3D(FY-3D)satellite carried a wide-field auroral imager(WAI)that was developed by Changchun Institute of Optics,Fine Mechanics and Physics,Chinese Academy of Sciences(CIOMP),which will provide a large field of view(FOV),high spatial resolution,and broadband ultraviolet images of the aurora and the ionosphere by imaging the N2 LBH bands of emissions.The WAI consists of two identical cameras,each with an FOV of 68°in the along-track direction and 10°in the cross-track direction.The two cameras are tilted relative to each other to cover a fan-shaped field of size 130°×10°.Each camera consists of an unobstructed four-mirror anastigmatic optical system,a BaF2 filter,and a photon-counting imaging detector.The spatial resolution of WAI is ~10 km at the nadir point at a reference height of 110 km above the Earth’s surface.The sensitivity is>0.01 counts s^(−1) Rayleigh^(−1) pixel^(−1)(140-180 nm)for both cameras,which is sufficient for mapping the boundaries and the fine structures of the auroral oval during storms/substorms.Based on the tests and calibrations that were conducted prior to launch,the data processing algorithm includes photon signal decoding,geometric distortion correction,photometric correction,flatfield correction,line-of-sight projection and correction,and normalization between the two cameras.Preliminarily processed images are compared with DMSP SSUSI images.The agreement between the images that were captured by two instruments demonstrates that the WAI and the data processing algorithm operate normally and can provide high-quality scientific data for future studies on auroral dynamics.Xiao-Xin Zhang Bo Chen Fei He Ke-Fei Song Ling-Ping He Shi-Jie Liu Quan-Feng Guo Jia-Wei Li Xiao-Dong Wang Hong-Ji Zhang Hai-Feng Wang Zhen-Wei Han Liang Sun Pei-Jie Zhang Shuang Dai Guang-Xing Ding Li-Heng Chen Zhong-Su Wang Guang-Wei Shi Xin Zhang Chao Yu Zhong-Dong Yang Peng Zhang Jin-Song Wang 2019Light(Science & Applications)2019,8,1:3

18Timing,Displacement and Growth Pattern of the Altyn Tagh Fault:A Review显示文摘The Altyn Tagh Fault(ATF) is the longest, lithospheric scale and strike-slip fault in East Asia. In the last three decades, multidisciplinary studies focusing on the timing, displacement of strikeslip and growth mechanics of the ATF have made great progresses. Most studies revealed that the ATF is a sinistral strike-slip and thrust fault, which underwent multiple episodes of activation. The fault is oriented NEE with a length of 1600 km, but the direction, timing of activity and magnitude of its extension eastward are still unclear. The AFT was predominately active during the Mesozoic and Cenozoic, in relation to the Mesozoic collision of the Cimmerian continent(Qiangtang and Lhasa block) and Cenozoic collision of India with Asia. The AFT strike-slipped with a left-lateral displacement of ca. 400 km during the Cenozoic and the displacement were bigger in the western segment and stronger in the early stage of fault activation. The slip-rates in the Quaternary were bigger in the middle segment than in the western and eastern segment. We roughly estimated the Mesozoic displacement as ca. 150-300 km. The latest paleomagnetic data showed that the clockwise vertical-axis rotation did not take place in the huge basins(the Tarim and Qaidam) at both side of ATF during the Cenozoic, but the rotation happened in the small basins along the ATF. This rotation may play an important role on accommodating the tectonic deformation and displacement of the ATF. 19Early Cretaceous Climate Changes Recorded in Magnetic Susceptibility and Color Index Variations of the Lower Liupanshan Group, Central China显示文摘This study carried out comprehensive analysis on sedimentology, magnetic susceptibility(χlf) and color data of the continental sediments of the Liupanshan Group in Central China so as to obtain climatic change information during the 129.14–122.98 Ma interval. Based on the results of the ?lf and of the redness(a*), the section can be divided into two segments:(1) 129.14–126.3 Ma, with the lowest ?lf values and strongly variable relatively high values of redness and(2) 126.3–122.98 Ma, with high ?lf values and relatively low redness. Analysis of the lithology and facies as well as the magnetic minerals and their contents points to a detrital origin of the magnetic minerals and this allow us to interpret the relationship between magnetic susceptibility variations and climate changes. 20Association between Coronary Atherosclerotic Plaque Composition and Cardiovascular Disease Risk显示文摘Objective The objective of this study is to determine whether coronary atherosclerotic plaque composition is associated with cardiovascular disease(CVD) risk in Chinese adults. Methods We performed a cross-sectional analysis in 549 subjects without previous diagnosis or clinical symptoms of CVD in a community cohort of middle-aged Chinese adults. The participants underwent coronary computed tomography(CT) angiography for the evaluation of the presence and composition of coronary plaques. CVD risk was evaluated by the Framingham risk score(FRS) and the 10-year atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease(ASCVD) risk score. Results Among the 549 participants, 267(48.6%) had no coronary plaques, 201(36.6%) had noncalcified coronary plaques, and 81(14.8%) had calcified or mixed coronary plaques. The measures of CVD risk including FRS and ASCVD risk score and the likelihood of having elevated FRS significantly increased across the groups of participants without coronary plaques, with noncalcified coronary plaques, and with calcified or mixed coronary plaques. However, only calcified or mixed coronary plaques were significantly associated with an elevated ASCVD risk score [odds ratio(OR) 2.41; 95% confidence interval(CI) 1.09-5.32] compared with no coronary plaques, whereas no significant association was found for noncalcified coronary plaques and elevated ASCVD risk score(OR 1.25; 95% CI 0.71-2.21) after multivariable adjustment.
