2An in vivo Transient Expression System Can Be Applied for Rapid and Effective Selection of Artificial MicroRNA Constructs for Plant Stable Genetic Transformation显示文摘The utility of artificial microRNAs(amiRNAs) to induce loss of gene function has been reported for many plant species,but expression efficiency of the different amiRNA constructs in different transgenic plants was less predictable,In this study,expressions of amiRNAs through the gene backbone of Arabidopsis miR168a were examined by both Agrobacterium-mediated transient expression and stable plant genetic transformation.A corresponding trend in expression of amiRNAs by the same amiRNA constructs between the transient and the stable expression systems was observed in the experiments.Plant genetic transformation of the constructs that were highly expressible in amiRNAs in the transient agro-infiltration assays resulted in generation of transgenic lines with high level of amiRNAs.This provides a simple method for rapid and effective selection of amiRNA constructs used for a time-consuming genetic transformation in plants.Basdeo Bhagwat Ming Chi Li Su Haifeng Tang Guiliang Tang Yu Xiang 2013Journal of Genetics and Genomics2013,40,5:1
3Purifying chylous plasma by precluding triglyceride via carboxylated polyethersulfone microfiltration membrane显示文摘Precluding the excessive lipoproteins from plasma rapidly and effectively is highly needed for biomedical detection and reducing plasma product scrap in blood donation stations.The current centrifugation procedure is high-cost and time-consuming.Herein,we fabricated an anionic microfiltration polyethersulfone(PES)membrane modified by interface swelling and implanting of acrylic acid(AA)for screening out large particle lipoprotein chylomicron(CM)and adsorbing cationic very low-density lipoproteins(VLDL).To improve the separation efficiency,a two-stage filtration through carboxylated polyethersulfone microfiltration membranes with the mean pore size of 0.45 and 0.22μm respectively were conducted.Attenuated total reflection Fourier transform infrared technique(ATR-FTIR),water contact angle(WCA),Zeta potential and scanning electron microscope(SEM)were employed to characterize the modified membrane.To test the effectiveness of this membrane,plasma flux and concentration variation of plasma components were examined to study the purification effectiveness.Furthermore,the hemocompatibility of modified membranes was tested to confirm its practicability on bloodcontacting materials.The carboxylated polyethersulfone microfiltration membrane shows its promising potential application to purify chylous plasma.Yang Liu Qiu Han Guiliang Li Haibo Lin Fu Liu Gang Deng Dingfeng Lv Weijie Sun 2022Chinese Journal of Chemical Engineering2022,35,9:1

5Surface modification of Li_(3)InCl_(6)provides superior electrochemical performance for LiMn_(2)O_(4)cathode materials显示文摘Li Mn_(2)O_(4)(LMO)is the substance of choice for small and medium-sized energy storage materials in daily life.In this work,Li3InCl6(LIC)is prepared on the surface of LiMn_(2)O_(4)by hydrothermal method using InCl_(3)and LiCl as raw materials.This method stabilizes the LMO crystal structure by uniformly coating the LIC on the LMO surface and effectively maintains the morphology of LMO crystals during the cycling process.SEM and EDS analysis confirm the morphology and homogeneity of the synthesized material LIC on the LMO surface.The prepared material is put into a battery,and the charge-discharge test is carried out at 0.5 C and 1 C.The results show that the LIC surface-modified samples exhibit more than 6%higher cycling performance than the unmodified samples after long cycling.Yixun Gu Kuan Yang Hongbin Yao Weijian Li Haiqing Zhan Xianquan Ming Guanhan Huang Guiliang Li Feng Zhan 2023Chinese Chemical Letters2023,34,5:0

10Long-term outcomes and prognosis factors of vagus nerve stimulation in patients with refractory epilepsy显示文摘Background:Vagus nerve stimulation(VNS)is an effective treatment for patients with refractory epilepsy,yet with varied predictive factors and heterogeneous long-term outcomes.Adjustment of VNS parameters is critical for obtaining favorable efficacy.In this study,we aimed to investigate the long-term outcomes and the possible predictive factors of VNS in patients with refractory epilepsy.Methods:Eighty-six patients(59 males and 27 females)who underwent VNS implantation for treatment of refractory epilepsy between May 2016 and May 2017 at five Epilepsy Centers were enrolled.The clinical data,including sex,age at epilepsy onset,VNS implantation,epilepsy duration,seizure type,MRI findings,history of neurosurgical operations,and responder rate(responders were those with≥50%seizure reduction),were analyzed.Results:Four-year follow-up data were available for 76 patients(53 males and 23 females).The mean current intensity at the last follow-up was 1.8±0.3 mA(range:0.75–2.5 mA).The mean seizure reduction was 36.2%at 6 months,38.5%at 1 year,69.4%at 3 years,and 56.7%at 4 years.A favorable outcome of≥50%reduction in seizure frequency occurred in 40.0%of the patients at 6 months,55.9%at 1 year with 4 patients being seizure-free,63.2%at 3 years with 5 patients being seizure-free,and 68.4%at 4 years with 5 patients being seizure-free.Earlier onset age(P<0.001)and shorter duration(P=0.042)were associated with favorable prognosis.Compared with generalized tonicclonic seizures,tonic seizures had a favorable outcome(P=0.026).Twenty-three patients underwent neurosurgical operations before VNS implantation,and the responder rate was 60.9%at the last follow-up.Conclusions:VNS is an adjunctive and effective treatment for patients with refractory epilepsy who are not good candidates for surgical resection or have failed to respond to surgical treatment.The stimulation efficacy increases over time after implantation,and earlier exposure to VNS improves the prognosis.Cuiping Xu Hua Lin Jiwen Xu Xiaohua Zhang Guiliang Hao Qiang Qiang Liu Chengyun Ding Shan Wang Quanjun Zhao Xiaojun Bai Kui Chen Duanyu Ni Yongjie Li Tao Yu Yuping Wang 2022Acta Epileptologica2022,5,3:0
