| 1 | Selective enforcement of regulation显示文摘Regulatory agencies may,whether outside of set rules or within their discretion,depart from the original goals or principles set for enforcing the rules,which we term selective enforcement.Taking China,a country in transition,as an example,and using cases and large-sample tests,we present empirical evidence of selective enforcement.The results show that the China Securities Regulatory Commission(CSRC) takes into account whether companies violating the rules have a state-owned background and the strength of that background when investigating and punishing non-compliance.After controlling for the degree of violation,state-owned-enterprises(SOEs) are punished less severely than private companies;and the higher the hierarchy of the SOE in question,the less severe the punishment.It also takes longer for SOEs to be punished.We also find that companies that violate the rules less seriously have a greater tendency to apply for refinancing than those that violate the rules more seriously.This may be because the severity of the violation can affect listed companies' expectations of obtaining refinancing.The analysis and conclusions of this study prove useful in understanding the causes and consequences of selective enforcement in transition economies. | Donghua Chen Dequan Jiang Shangkun Liang Fangping Wang | 2011 | China Journal of Accounting Research2011,,Z1: | 10 |
| 2 | Dynamic Hand Gesture Recognition Based on Short-Term Sampling Neural Networks显示文摘Hand gestures are a natural way for human-robot interaction.Vision based dynamic hand gesture recognition has become a hot research topic due to its various applications.This paper presents a novel deep learning network for hand gesture recognition.The network integrates several well-proved modules together to learn both short-term and long-term features from video inputs and meanwhile avoid intensive computation.To learn short-term features,each video input is segmented into a fixed number of frame groups.A frame is randomly selected from each group and represented as an RGB image as well as an optical flow snapshot.These two entities are fused and fed into a convolutional neural network(Conv Net)for feature extraction.The Conv Nets for all groups share parameters.To learn longterm features,outputs from all Conv Nets are fed into a long short-term memory(LSTM)network,by which a final classification result is predicted.The new model has been tested with two popular hand gesture datasets,namely the Jester dataset and Nvidia dataset.Comparing with other models,our model produced very competitive results.The robustness of the new model has also been proved with an augmented dataset with enhanced diversity of hand gestures. | Wenjin Zhang Jiacun Wang Fangping Lan | 2021 | IEEE/CAA Journal of Automatica Sinica2021,8,1: | 5 |

| 5 | Preparation of a Novel Acid Doped Polyaniline Adsorbent for Removal of Anionic Pollutant from Wastewater显示文摘Polyaniline(PANI) was one of the most extensively studied adsorbents due to its low cost and good environmental stability. The objective of the current study was to improve the selective capabilities of PANI for anionic dyes. We found that the acid doped PANI prepared with hydrochloric acid and p-toluenesulfonic acid(PTSA) could selectively adsorb anionic dyes. It exhibited very good selectivity for OG dye, the mechanism was proposed based on the chemical interaction of PANI with the sulfonate group of the dyes. The effects of solution p H, initial dye concentration, and different HCl/PTSA mole ratios on the adsorption capacity of OG have been investigated. Kinetic simulations indicated that the adsorption process could be well represented by pseudo-second-order kinetic plots. The isothermal adsorption curve fitting also showed that the adsorption process could be well described by the Langmuir isothermal equation. | 7 | Methylesterification of cell-wall pectin controls the diurnal flower-opening times in rice显示文摘Flowers are the core reproductive organ of plants, and flowering is essential for cross-pollination. Diurnal flower-opening time is thus a key trait influencing reproductive isolation, hybrid breeding, and thermostability in plants. However, the molecular mechanisms controlling this trait remain unknown. Here, we report that rice Diurnal Flower Opening Time 1 (DFOT1) modulates pectin methylesterase (PME) activity to regulate pectin methylesterification levels of the lodicule cell walls, which affect lodicule swelling to control diurnal flower-opening time. DFOT1 is specifically expressed in the lodicules, and its expression gradually increases with the approach to flowering but decreases with flowering. Importantly, a knockout of DFOT1 showed earlier diurnal flower opening. We demonstrate that DFOT1 interacts directly with multiple PMEs to promote their activity. Knockout of PME40 also resulted in early diurnal flower opening, whereas overexpression of PME42 delayed diurnal flower opening. Lower PME activity was observed to be associated with higher levels of pectin methylesterification and the softening of cell walls in lodicules, which contribute to the absorption of water by lodicules and cause them to swell, thus promoting early diurnal flower opening. Higher PME activity had the opposite effect. | 10 | DNA barcoding of Antarctic marine zooplankton for species identification and recognition显示文摘Polar zooplankton are particularly sensitive to climate change, and have been used as rapid-responders to indicate climate-induced changes in the fragile Antarctic ecosystem. DNA barcoding provides an alternative approach for rapid zooplankton species identification. Ninety-four specimens belonging to 32 Antarctic zooplankton species were barcoded to construct a comprehensive reference library. An 830 to 1 050 base-pair region of the mitochondrial cytochrome c oxidase subunit I (mtCOI) gene was obtained as DNA barcodes. The intraspecific variation of the gene ranged from 0 to 2.6% (p-distance), with an average of 0.67% (SD=0.67%). The distance between species within the same genera ranged from 0.1% (Calanus) to 29.3%, with an average of 15.3% (SD=8.4%). The morphological and genetic similarities between Calanus propinquus and C. simillimus raise new questions about the taxonomic status of C. simillimus. With the exception of the two Calanus species, the intraspecific genetic divergence was much smaller than the interspecific divergence among congeneric species, confirming the existence of a barcode gap for Antarctic zooplankton. In addition, species other than Calanus sp. formed a monophyletic group. Therefore, we have confirmed DNA barcoding as an accurate and efficient approach for zooplankton identification in the Antarctic area (except for Hydromedusa, Tunicata, and other gelatinous zooplankton). Indicator vector analysis further confirmed this conclusion. | 20 | Nanoparticle-strengthened Ni_(2)CoCrNb_(0.2)medium-entropy alloy with an ultrastrong cryogenic yield strength fabricated by additive manufacturing显示文摘To improve the yield strength of metallic materials at low temperatures,a strategy of combining the calculation of phase diagrams(CALPHAD)technique with the overall valence electron concentration(OVEC)principle is applied,and a Ni_(2)CoCrNb_(0.2)medium-entropy alloy(MEA)with D022 superlattice(noted as theγ″phase)is designed.Bulk MEA samples without defects were successfully fabricated using laser additive manufacturing(AM),followed by solution treatment at 1200℃for 1 h and then aging at 650℃for 120 h.The nanoscaleγ″phase precipitated.The tensile results indicated that the MEA had superior yield strengths of∼1180 MPa and∼1320 MPa and tensile strengths of∼1335 MPa and∼1552 MPa at 293 K and 77 K,respectively.The yield strength obtained was superior to that of currently reported medium/high-entropy alloys and typical advanced cryogenic steel.The mechanical properties of the Ni_(2)CoCrNb_(0.2)MEA demonstrated a strong temperature dependence,and the increased yield strength was mainly attributed to the increase in lattice friction stress at low temperatures.This research provides a new strategy for producing materials with ultrastrong cryogenic yield strengths by AM. | Fangping Wang Yaxiong Guo Qibin Liu Xiaojuan Shanga | 2023 | Journal of Materials Science & Technology2023,,32: | 0 |
