3Major advances in studies of the physical geography and living environment of China during the past 70 years and future prospects显示文摘The natural environment provides material essentials for human survival and development. The characteristics,processes, regional differentiation and forcing mechanisms of the elements of the natural environment(e.g. geomorphology,climate, hydrology, soil, etc.) are the main objects of research in physical geography. China has a complex natural environment and huge regional differentiation and therefore it provides outstanding reserach opportunities in physical geography. This review summarizes the most important developments and the main contributions of research in the physical geography and human living environment in China during the past 70 years. The major topics addressed are the uplift of the Tibetan Plateau and the evolution of its cryosphere, the development of fluvial systems, the acidification of the vast arid region of the Asian interior, variations in the monsoon and westerly climate systems on multiple timescales, the development of lakes and wetlands, the watershed system model, soil erosion, past human-environment interactions, biogeography, and physical geographic zonality. After briefly introducing international research developments, we review the history of research in physical geography in China, focusing on the major achievements and major academic debates, and finally we summarize the status of current research and the future prospects. 4The origin of Wx^(la) provides new insights into the improvement of grain quality in rice显示文摘Appearance and taste are important factors in rice(Oryza sativa) grain quality. Here, we investigated the taste scores and related eating-quality traits of533 diverse cultivars to assess the relationships between—and genetic basis of—rice taste and eating-quality. A genome-wide association study highlighted the Wx gene as the major factor underlying variation in taste and eating quality. Notably, a novel waxy(Wx) allele, Wx^(la), which combined two mutations from Wx^(b) and Wx^(in), exhibited a unique phenotype. Reduced GBSSI activity conferred Wx^(la) rice with both a transparent appearance and good eating quality. Haplotype analysis revealed that Wx^(la) was derived from intragenic recombination. In fact,the recombination rate at the Wx locus was estimated to be 3.34 kb/c M, which was about 75-fold higher than the genome-wide mean, indicating that intragenic recombination is a major force driving diversity at the Wx locus. Based on our results, we propose a new network for Wx evolution, noting that new Wx alleles could easily be generated by crossing genotypes with different Wx alleles. 6Effectiveness of external Sanjierupi Gao on mastalgia caused by mammary gland hyperplasia: a placebo controlled trial显示文摘OBJECTIVE:To evaluate the curative effect of external application of the Chinese drug,Sanjierupi Gao,on mastalgia caused by mammary gland hyperplasia.METHODS:This randomized,double-blinded,and placebo controlled study enrolled 260 patients with mammary gland hyperplasia from five hospitals.Patients were randomly and equally divided in-to a Sanjierupi Gao treatment group and a placebo control group.An adhesive plaster was applied to the most painful area on either breast for 7 h a day.Treatment lasted for two menstrual cycles without application during menstruation.Mastalgia was used as the main index of curative effect.The change before and after treatment in days of mastalgia,the time to alleviate pain,pain extent,and severe pain scores were observed.RESULTS:Compared to the control group,the treatment group had significantly fewer days of mastalgia(P<0.01),a significantly lower severe pain score(P<0.01),and significantly less subjective pain and tenderness(P<0.05 and P<0.01,respectively).Three days before the follow-up visit,the pain score in the treatment group was significantly lower than that in the control group(P<0.05).A non-parametric test was used to compare the time to alleviate mastalgia between the two groups and found no statistical difference(Z=0.313,P=0.754).CONCLUSION:Application of Sanjierupi Gao can decrease mastalgia duration in patients with mammary gland hyperplasia during menstruation and alleviate the extent of mastalgia.The time to alleviate pain is psychologically influenced.Yingyi Fan Xiaohua Pei Zhaolan Liu Zhongyuan Xia Dongxiao Zhang Afeng Song Duo Liu 2013Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine2013,33,5:7

8Genetic architecture and key genes controlling the diversity of oil composition in rice grains显示文摘Rice grain oil is a valuable nutrient source.However,the genetic basis of oil biosynthesis in rice grains remains unclear.In this study,we performed a genome-wide association study on oil composition and oil concentration in a diverse panel of 533 cultivated rice accessions.High variation for 11 oil-related traits was observed,and the oil composition of rice grains showed differentiation among the subpopulations.We identified 46 loci that are significantly associated with grain oil concentration or composition,16 of which were detected in three recombinant inbred line populations.Twenty-six candidate genes encoding enzymes involved in oil metabolism were identified from these 46 loci,four of which(PAL6,LIN6,MYR2,and ARA6)were found to contribute to natural variation in oil composition and to show differentiation among the subpopulations.Interestingly,population genetic analyses revealed that specific haplotypes of PAL6 and LIN6 have been selected in japonica rice.Based on these results,we propose a possible oil biosynthetic pathway in rice grains.Collectively,our results provide new insights into the genetic basis of oil biosynthesis in rice grains and can facilitate marker-based breeding of rice varieties with enhanced oil and grain quality.Hao Zhou Duo Xia Pingbo Li Yiting Ao Xiaodong Xu Shanshan Wan Yanhua Li Bian Wu Huan Shi Kaiyue Wang Guanjun Gao Qinglu Zhang Gongwei Wang Jinghua Xiao Xianghua Li Sibin Yu Xingming Lian Yuqing He 2021Molecular Plant2021,14,3:4

11Advances in the Application of Intestinal Flora in Anti-Tumor Therapy显示文摘The intestinal flora is the normal microecosystem of the gastrointestinal tract. The intestinal flora has great complexity, and plays crucial roles in nutrient intake, host metabolism, endocrine signaling, homeostasis and immune regulation. Disorders of the intestinal flora can lead to an out-of-balance in immune system, and even results in an increased risk of diseases, including the occurrence and development of malignant tumors. Accumulating evidence shows that intestinal microorganisms may assist in systemic therapy by increasing the “heterogeneity” of the tumor, thereby promoting anti-tumor therapy. Targeting intestinal flora during the treatment of cancer has shown good efficacy. 13DSCR9/miR-21-5p axis inhibits pancreatic cancer proliferation and resistance to gemcitabine via BTG2 signaling显示文摘The outcome of pancreatic adenocarcinoma(PAAD)patients is poor,given resistance to gemcitabine.Long noncoding RNA(lncRNA)has been implicated in the carcinogenesis of pancreatic cancer;however,its function and mechanism in PAAD resistance to gemcitabine(GEM)are yet unknown.Herein,we demonstrate that lncRNA DSCR9 is significantly reduced in PAAD in vitro and in vivo.CCK-8,BrdU and flow cytometry assays show that overexpression of DSCR9 markedly suppresses pancreatic cancer cell proliferation and invasion,and promotes apoptosis under gemcitabine treatment.BTG2 acts as a tumor suppressor by reducing the proliferation and invasion of pancreatic cancer cells and increasing gemcitabine-induced apoptosis.Immunofluorescence(IF)staining combined with fluorescence in situ hybridization(FISH)of pancreatic cancer tissues shows that DSCR9 and BTG2 are both increased in pancreatic cancer tissues.Luciferase assay shows that miR-21-5p simultaneously binds to DSCR9 and 3′UTR of BTG2;DSCR9 relieves miR-21-5p-induced inhibition of BTG2 by competing with BTG2 for miR-21-5p binding.Overexpression of miR-21-5p enhances the invasiveness of pancreatic cancer cells by promoting cancer cell proliferation and invasion and attenuating gemcitabine-induced apoptosis.Overexpression of miR-21-5p attenuates the effect of DSCR9 overexpression on BTG2 expression and invasiveness of pancreatic cancer cells.Finally,miR-21-5p expression is increased,while BTG2 expression is decreased in pancreatic cancer tissues.miR-21-5p is negatively correlated with DSCR9 and BTG2.In conclusion,the DSCR9/miR-21-5p/BTG2 axis modulates pancreatic cancer proliferation,invasion,and gemcitabine resistance.Hui Huang Xia Li Xianlin Zhang Zhiqiang Li Duo Han Wenzhe Gao Ling Liu Cheng Peng Hongwei Zhu Xiao Yu 2022Acta Biochimica et Biophysica Sinica2022,54,12:1
14A study of the construction times of the ancient cities in Ganjia Basin,Gansu Province,China显示文摘The Ganjia Basin in Xiahe County,Gansu Province,China,is located on the northeastern edge of the Tibetan Plateau.The area lies in the transitional zone between the Plateau ethnic groups dominated by ancestral Tibetans,and the Central Plains dynasties dominated by ancestral Han in history.The Ganjia Basin is therefore well suited to studying the history of the intermixing of the Han and Tibetan peoples.In this study,we collected samples of organic materials from two ancient cities,Bajiaocheng(BJC) and Sirougucheng(SRGC),in the Ganjia Basin,which were used for radiocarbon dating.Our aims were to determine the construction times and function of the cities,based on the radiocarbon ages,Bayesian age modeling,and the analysis of relevant historical records.The results are used to discuss the role of the Ganjia Basin in the conflicts between and the integration of the two ethnic groups during the historical period.We conclude that BJC was established during 663–732 CE(Common Era);its early occupation history can be divided into an initial establishment phase(670–780 CE) and a phase of regeneration(880–1030 CE).SRGC was probably built at the time of the transition between the Song and Yuan dynasties(~1271 CE).Combining the dating results with an analysis of the architectural styles and historical records,we conclude that BJC was originally built by the Tubo Kingdom as a military stronghold,and its major functions were military,economic and religious,and to support the major eastward expansion of the Tubo.SRGC was most likely a temple-focused city intended to promote Tibetan Buddhism which was a major political and religious leadership for the Tibetans at that time,reflecting changes in the status of different religions in the Ganjia Basin.In addition,the intermixing and blending of the Han and Tibetan groups,reflected by the human activities in the Ganjia Basin,was an important demographic and cultural foundation for the formation of the culturally-diverse but spiritually-united modern Chinese people.XIA Huan ZHANG Dongju WANG Qiang WU Duo DUAN Yanwu CHEN Fahu 2020Journal of Geographical Sciences2020,30,9:1

20Multifunctional peptide conjugated amphiphilic cationic copolymer for enhancing ECs targeting, penetrating and nuclear accumulation显示文摘Gene therapy has drawn great attention in the treatments of many diseases,especially for cardiovascular diseases.However,the development of gene carriers with low cytotoxicity and multitargeting function is still a challenge.Herein,the multitargeting REDV-G-TATG-NLS peptide was conjugated to amphiphilic cationic copolymer poly(e-caprolactone-co-3(S)-methyl-morpho-line-2,5-dione)-g-polyethyleneimine(PCLMD-g-PEI)via a heterobifunctional orthopyridyl disulfde-poly(ethylene glycol)-N-hydroxysuccinimide(OPSS-PEG-NHS)linker to prepare PCLMD-g-PEI-PEG-REDV-G-TAT-G-NLS copolymers with the aim to develop the gene carriers with low cytotoxicity and high transfection efficiency.The multitargeting micelles were prepared from PCLMD-g-PEI-PEG-REDV-G-TAT-G-NLS copolymers by self-assembly method and used to load pEGFP-ZNF580 plasmids(pDNA)to form gene complexes for enhancing the proliferation and migration of endothelial cells(ECs).The loading pDNA capacity was proved by agarose gel electrophoresis assay.These multitargeting gene com-plexes exhibited low cytotoxicity by 3-(4,-dimethylthia-zol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide assay.The high internalization efficiency of these gene complexes was confirmed by flow cytometry.The results of in vitro transfection demonstrated that these multitargeting gene complexes possessed relatively high transfection effi-ciency.The rapid migration of ECs transfected by these gene complexes was verified by wound healing assay.Owing to ECs-targeting ability,cell-penetrating ability and nuclear targeting capacity of REDV-G-TAT-G-NLS pep-tide,the multitargeting polycationic gene carrier with low cytotoxicity and high transfection efficiency has great potential in gene therapy.Xinghong Duo Lingchuang Bai Jun Wang Jintang Guo Xiangkui Ren Shihai Xia Wencheng Zhang Abraham Domb Yakai Feng 2020Frontiers of Chemical Science and Engineering2020,14,5:0
