1Directional hydraulic fracturing to control hard-roof rockburst in coal mines显示文摘Hard roof is the main factor that induces rock-burst.In view of the present obvious weakness of control measures for hard roof rockburst in domestic collieries,the mechanism and field application of directional hydraulic fracturing technology for rock-burst prevention have been investigated in this paper using theoretical analysis and numerical simulation.The results show that the weighting span of the main roof and the released kinetic energy as well as the total elastic energy decreased greatly after the directional fracturing of hard roof with the mining progression,thereby reducing the rockburst hazard degree to coal body.The directional hydraulic fracturing technology was carried out in 6305 working face of Jisan Coal Mine to prevent rockburst.Field practices have proved that this technology is much simpler and safer to operate with better prevention effect compared with blasting.By optimizing the operation procedures and developing a new technology of automated high-pressure delivery pipe,the maximum fracturing radius now reaches more than 9 m and the borehole depth exceeds 20 m.Additionally,drilling cutting method was applied to monitor the stress of the coal mass before and after the fracturing,and the drill cuttings dropped significantly which indicates that the burst prevention effect of directional hydraulic fracturing technology is very remarkable.The research results of this paper have laid a theoretical and practical foundation for the widespread application of the directional hydraulic fracturing technology in China.Fan Jun Dou Linming He Hu Du Taotao Zhang Shibin Gui Bing Sun Xinglin 2012International Journal of Mining Science and Technology2012,22,2:28
2Cropland redistribution to marginal lands undermines environmental sustainability显示文摘Cropland redistribution to marginal land has been reported worldwide;however,the resulting impacts on environmental sustainability have not been investigated sufficiently.Here we investigated the environmental impacts of cropland redistribution in China.As a result of urbanization-induced loss of high-quality croplands in south China(~8.5 t ha^(-1)),croplands expanded to marginal lands in northeast(~4.5 t ha^(-1)) and northwest China(~2.9 t ha^(-1)) during 1990-2015 to pursue food security.However,the reclamation in these low-yield and ecologically vulnerable zones considerably undermined local environmental sustainability,for example increasing wind erosion(+3.47%),irrigation water consumption(+34.42%),fertilizer use(+20.02%) and decreasing natural habitats(-3.11%).Forecasts show that further reclamation in marginal lands per current policies would exacerbate environmental costs by 2050.The future cropland security risk will be remarkably intensified because of the conflict between food production and environmental sustainability.Our research suggests that globally emerging reclamation of marginal lands should be restricted and crop yield boost should be encouraged for both food security and environmental benefits.Wenhui Kuang Jiyuan Liu Hanqin Tian Hao Shi Jinwei Dong Changqing Song Xiaoyong Li Guoming Du Yali Hou Dengsheng Lu Wenfeng Chi Tao Pan Shuwen Zhang Rafiq Hamdi Zherui Yin Huimin Yan Changzhen Yan Shixin Wu Rendong Li Jiuchun Yang Yinyin Dou Wenbin Wu Liqiao Liang Bao Xiang Shiqi Yang 2022National Science Review2022,9,1:13
3Humoral immune response to circulating SARS-CoV-2 variants elicited by inactivated and RBD-subunit vaccines显示文摘SARS-CoV-2 variants could induce immune escape by mutations on the receptor-binding domain(RBD)and N-terminal domain(NTD).Here we report the humoral immune response to circulating SARS-CoV-2 variants,such as 501Y.V2(B.1.351),of the plasma and neutralizing antibodies(NAbs)elicited by CoronaVac(inactivated vaccine),ZF2001(RBD-subunit vaccine)and natural infection.Among 86 potent NAbs identified by high-throughput single-cell VDJ sequencing of peripheral blood mononuclear cells from vaccinees and convalescents,near half anti-RBD NAbs showed major neutralization reductions against the K417N/E484K/N501Y mutation combination,with E484K being the dominant cause.VH3-53/VH3-66 recurrent antibodies respond differently to RBD variants,and K417N compromises the majority of neutralizing activity through reduced polar contacts with complementarity determining regions.In contrast,the 242–244 deletion(242–244Δ)would abolish most neutralization activity of anti-NTD NAbs by interrupting the conformation of NTD antigenic supersite,indicating a much less diversity of anti-NTD NAbs than anti-RBD NAbs.Plasma of convalescents and CoronaVac vaccinees displayed comparable neutralization reductions against pseudo-and authentic 501Y.V2 variants,mainly caused by E484K/N501Y and 242–244Δ,with the effects being additive.Importantly,RBD-subunit vaccinees exhibit markedly higher tolerance to 501Y.V2 than convalescents,since the elicited anti-RBD NAbs display a high diversity and are unaffected by NTD mutations.Moreover,an extended gap between the third and second doses of ZF2001 leads to better neutralizing activity and tolerance to 501Y.V2 than the standard three-dose administration.Together,these results suggest that the deployment of RBD-vaccines,through a third-dose boost,may be ideal for combating SARS-CoV-2 variants when necessary,especially for those carrying mutations that disrupt the NTD supersite.Yunlong Cao Ayijiang Yisimayi Yali Bai Weijin Huang Xiaofeng Li Zhiying Zhang Tianjiao Yuan Ran An Jing Wang Tianhe Xiao Shuo Du Wenping Ma Liyang Song Yongzheng Li Xiang Li Weiliang Song Jiajing Wu Shuo Liu Xuemei Li Yonghong Zhang Bin Su Xianghua Guo Yangyang Wei Chuanping Gao Nana Zhang Yifei Zhang Yang Dou Xiaoyu Xu Rui Shi Bai Lu Ronghua Jin Yingmin Ma Chengfeng Qin Youchun Wang Yingmei Feng Junyu Xiao Xiaoliang Sunney Xie 2021Cell Research2021,31,7:12

5Classification of microseismic events in high stress zone显示文摘For the purpose of having a better understanding of failure mechanisms of rock fracturing in mines, the equivalent point source models of tensile, shear and explosive seismic events were established, and the relationship between far-field seismic displacements of the waves and the corresponding equivalent forces were analyzed as well. Based on the results of a microseismic monitoring carried out in the mining progress of 9202 working face under the upper remnant coal pillar in Sanhejian Mine, the waveform features of the seismic events associated with different failure modes were further analyzed. The results show that the signals corresponding to different failure mechanisms have different radiation patterns of the seismic displacements, and different characteristics in waveform features, such as dominant frequency, energy released, the ratio of S- to P-wave energy, and so on. In addition, the rock burst happened in the high stress zone is mainly the result of the strong shear fracturing in the mining process. 6Insights into measurements of water-soluble ions in PM_(2.5)and their gaseous precursors in Beijing显示文摘To better understand the characteristics and transformation mechanisms of secondary inorganic aerosols,hourly mass concentrations of water-soluble inorganic ions(WSIIs)in PM_(2.5)and their gaseous precursors were measured online from 2016 to 2018 at an urban site in Beijing.Seasonal and diurnal variations in water-soluble ions and gaseous precursors were discussed and their gas-particle conversion and partitioning were also examined,some related parameters were characterized.The(TNH_(3))Rich was also defined to describe the variations of the excess NH_(3)in different seasons.In addition,a sensitivity test was carried out by using ISORROPIA II to outline the driving factors of gas-particle partitioning.In Beijing,the relative contribution of nitrate to PM_(2.5)has increased markedly in recent years,especially under polluted conditions.In the four seasons,only a small portion of NO_(2)in the atmosphere was converted into total nitrate(TNO_(3)),and more than 80%of TNO_(3)occurred in the form of nitrate due to the abundant ammonia.The concentration of total ammonia(TNH_(3))was much higher than that required to neutralize acid gases,and most of the TNH_(3)occurred as gaseous NH_(3).The nitrous acid(HONO)concentration was highly correlated with NH_(3)concentration and had increased significantly in Beijing compared with previous studies.The total chloride(TCl)was the highest in winter,andε(Cl^(-))was more sensitive to variations in the ambient temperature(T)and relative humidity(RH)thanε(NO_(3)^(-)).Jie Su Pusheng Zhao Jing Ding Xiang Du Youjun Dou 2021Journal of Environmental Sciences2021,33,4:7
7Sources, evolution and impacts of EC and OC in snow on sea ice: a measurement study in Barrow, Alaska显示文摘Based on the field measurements in Barrow, Alaska within the period of April-May 2015, we investigate the sources and variations of elemental carbon(EC) and organic carbon(OC) in the surface layer of snowpack on sea ice, and estimate their effects on the sea ice albedo. Results show that the snow OC in Barrow are from natural sources(e.g. terrestrial higher plants and micro-organisms) mainly, as well as biomass burning(e.g. forest fires and straw combustion) as an important part. Both EC and OC can accumulate at the snow surface with snow melt. The variations in EC and OC and liquid water content in the snow layer are well consistent during the snow-melting period. A higher rate of snow melt implied a more efficient enrichment of EC and OC. In the last phase of snow melt, the concentration increased to a maximum of 16.2 ng/g for EC and 128 ng/g for OC, which is ~10 times larger than those before snow melt onset. Except for the dominant influence of melt amplification mechanism, the variation in concentrations of EC and OC could be disturbed by the air temperature fluctuation and snowfall. Our study indicates that the lightabsorbing impurities contributed 1.6%-5.1% to the reduction in sea ice albedo with melt during the measurement period. The significant period oflight-absorbing impurities influencing on sea ice albedo begins with the rapid melting of overlying snow and ends before the melt ponds formed widely, which lasted for about 10 days in Barrow, 2015.Tingfeng Dou Cunde Xiao Zhiheng Du J. 8Anaerobic benzene biodegradation by a pure bacterial culture of Bacillus cereus under nitrate reducing conditions显示文摘A pure culture using benzene as sole carbon and energy sources was isolated by screening procedure from gasoline contaminated soil.The analysis of the 16S rDNA gene sequence,morphological and physiological characteristics showed that the isolated strain was a member of genus Bacillus cereus.The biodegradation performance of benzene by B.cereus was evaluated,and the results showed that benzene could be efficiently biodegraded when the initial benzene concentration was below 150 mg/L.The metabolites of anaerobic nitrate-dependent benzene oxidation by strain B.cereus were identified as phenol and benzoate.The results of substrate interaction between binary combinations for benzene,phenol and benzoate showed that the simultaneous presence of benzene stimulated the degradation of benzoate,whereas the addition of benzene inhibited the degradation of phenol.Benzene degradation by B.cereus was enhanced by the addition of phenol and benzoate,the enhanced effects were more pronounced at higher concentration.To our knowledge,this is the first report that the isolated bacterial culture of B.cereus can efficiently degraded benzene under nitrate reducing conditions.Junfeng Dou Aizhong Ding Xiang Liu Yongchao Du Dong Deng Jinsheng Wang 2010Journal of Environmental Sciences2010,22,5:6

10Preparation of silver tin oxide powders by hydrothermal reduction and crystallization显示文摘Silver tin oxide composite powders were synthesized by the hydrothermal method with a silver ammine solution and a Na2SnO3 solution as raw materials. H2C2O4 was used as the co-precipitator of silver ions and tin ions. The co-precipitation conditions were investigated. The results show that the co-precipitate of Ag2C2O4 and Sn(OH)4 is available when the pH value of the solution is 4.27-8.36. Using the obtained precipitate as precursor,the reduction of Ag+ and the crystallization of tin oxide were carried out simultaneously by the hydrothermal method and silver tin oxide composite powders were obtained. The composite powders were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis,scanning electron microscope (SEM),and energy spectrum analysis. 12The Ecological Effects of Young Elm Trees Belt-Pumpkin Strip Intercropping System at the Agro-Pastoral Ecotone in Northern China显示文摘Young elm trees belt-pumpkin strip intercropping was studied to solve the actual problem of resource losses in the large barren area resulted from reconverting cultivated land into forest in the agro-pastoral ecotone in northern China.The final objective was to realize effective utilization of the barren land with both ecological improvement and economic development.Field experiments were conducted together with laboratory analysis.The results indicated that the soil moisture level was remarkably increased in young elm trees belt-pumpkin strip intercropping because the pumpkin vines covered the gap between pumpkin planting-furrow and elm trees belt.The water use efficiency of the intercropping system was increased by 23.7-163.3% as compared with the single cropping.Elm trees belt-pumpkin strip intercropping changed the sequential succession trend of the grasses growing in the gap of the pumpkin planting-furrow.The annual grasses become the dominant vegetation.The nutritive value as fodder and yield of the annual grasses were also increased remarkably.The biomass of pumpkin,elm trees and grasses under intercropping increased by 24.4,28.4 and 144.4%,respectively,as compared with those under single cropping.The land use efficiency was increased by 132%.It was also indicated that the soil erosion from the intercropping land was not increased due to pumpkin plantation.The differences in the soil erosion among intercropped area,elm trees belt and pumpkin strip with single cropping were not remarkable.Therefore,it was concluded that young elm trees belt-pumpkin strip intercropping is an effective way to utilize the barren land between the young elm trees belt and realize synergistic enhancement of ecological benefit and economic profit.DU Xiong DOU Tie-ling FENG Li-xiao ZHANG Wei-hong ZHANG Li-feng 2010Agricultural Sciences in China2010,9,8:4
13Bilateral adrenocortical adenomas causing adrenocorticotropic hormone-independent Cushing's syndrome: A case report and review of the literature显示文摘BACKGROUND Adrenocorticotropic hormone(ACTH)-independent Cushing's syndrome(CS) is mostly due to unilateral tumors, with bilateral tumors rarely reported. Its common causes include primary pigmented nodular adrenocortical disease,ACTH-independent macronodular adrenal hyperplasia, and bilateral adrenocortical adenomas(BAAs) or carcinomas. BAAs causing ACTHindependent CS are rare; up to now, fewer than 40 BAA cases have been reported. The accurate diagnosis and evaluation of BAAs are critical for determining optimal treatment options. Adrenal vein sampling(AVS) is a good way to diagnose ACTH-independent CS.CASE SUMMARY A 31-year-old woman had a typical appearance of CS. The oral glucose tolerance test showed impaired glucose tolerance and obviously increased insulin and Cpeptide levels. Her baseline serum cortisol and urine free cortisol were elevated and did not show either a circadian rhythm or suppression with dexamethasone administration. The peripheral 1-deamino-8-D-arginine-vasopressin(DDVAP)stimulation test showed a delay of the peak level, which was 1.05 times as high as the baseline level. Bilateral AVS results suggested the possibility of BAAs.Abdominal computed tomography showed bilateral adrenal adenomas with atrophic adrenal glands(right: 3.1 cm × 2.0 cm × 1.9 cm; left: 2.2 cm × 1.9 cm × 2.1 cm). Magnetic resonance imaging of the pituitary gland demonstrated normal findings. A left adenomectomy by retroperitoneoscopy was performed first,followed by resection of the right-side adrenal mass 3 mo later. Biopsy results of both adenomas showed cortical tumors. Evaluations of ACTH and cortisol showed a significant decrease after left adenomectomy but could still not be suppressed, and the circadian rhythm was absent. Following bilateral adenomectomy, this patient has been administered with prednisone until now,all of her symptoms were alleviated, and she had normal blood pressure without edema in either of her lower extremities.CONCLUSION BAAs causing ACTH-independent CS are rare. 14A chromosome-scale genome assembly of a diploid alfalfa,the progenitor of autotetraploid alfalfa显示文摘Alfalfa(Medicago sativa L.)is one of the most important and widely cultivated forage crops.It is commonly used as a vegetable and medicinal herb because of its excellent nutritional quality and significant economic value.Based on Illumina,Nanopore and Hi-C data,we assembled a chromosome-scale assembly of Medicago sativa spp.caerulea(voucher PI464715),the direct diploid progenitor of autotetraploid alfalfa.The assembled genome comprises 793.2 Mb of genomic sequence and 47,202 annotated protein-coding genes.The contig N50 length is 3.86 Mb.This genome is almost twofold larger and contains more annotated protein-coding genes than that of its close relative,Medicago truncatula(420 Mb and 44,623 genes).The more expanded gene families compared with those in M.truncatula and the expansion of repetitive elements rather than whole-genome duplication(i.e.,the two species share the ancestral Papilionoideae whole-genome duplication event)may have contributed to the large genome size of M.sativa spp.caerulea.Comparative and evolutionary analyses revealed that M.sativa spp.caerulea diverged from M.truncatula~5.2 million years ago,and the chromosomal fissions and fusions detected between the two genomes occurred during the divergence of the two species.In addition,we identified 489 resistance(R)genes and 82 and 85 candidate genes involved in the lignin and cellulose biosynthesis pathways,respectively.The near-complete and accurate diploid alfalfa reference genome obtained herein serves as an important complement to the recently assembled autotetraploid alfalfa genome and will provide valuable genomic resources for investigating the genomic architecture of autotetraploid alfalfa as well as for improving breeding strategies in alfalfa.Ao Li Ai Liu Xin Du Jin-Yuan Chen Mou Yin Hong-Yin Hu Nawal Shrestha Sheng-Dan Wu Hai-Qing Wang Quan-Wen Dou Zhi-Peng Liu Jian-Quan Liu Yong-Zhi Yang Guang-Peng Ren 2020Horticulture Research2020,7,1:3
15A shallow ice core from East Greenland showing a reduction in black carbon during 1990-2016显示文摘This study reports on the measurements of ion and refractory black carbon(rBC)concentrations in a shallow(10.96 m)ice core sample which was drilled from the field site of the East Greenland Ice Core Project(EGRIP)in July,2016.The results provide a recent record of rBC deposition in the East Greenland ice sheet from 1990 to 2016.The annual variability in oxygen(δ^(18)O)and hydrogen(δD)isotopic compositions indicated that notably warm events occurred since 2008.Peaks in rBC occurred during summer seasons,which may be attributed to the burning of biomass in boreal summer.The rBC record and analysis of historical air trajectories using the HYSPLIT model indicated that anthropogenic BC emissions from Russia,North America and Europe contributed to the majority of rBC deposition in the Greenland region,and a reduction in anthropogenic BC consumption in these areas played a dominant role in the decrease in BC concentrations since 2000.This record also suggests that the emissions from the East Asian region(China)contributed very little to the recorded BC concentrations in East Greenland ice core.The model results indicated that radiative forcing due to BC had decreased significantly since 1990,and had remained below 0.02W m^(-2) since 2000.DU Zhi-Heng XIAO Cun-De DOU Ting-Feng LI Chuan-Jin DING Ming-Hu Sangeeta SHARMA MA Xiang-Yu WANG Shi-Meng ZHANG Wang-Bing 2020Advances in Climate Change Research2020,11,4:2
16Application of Scanning Tunneling Microscopy in Electrocatalysis and Electrochemistry显示文摘Scanning tunneling microscopy(STM)has gained increasing attention in the field of electrocatalysis due to its ability to reveal electrocatalyst surface structures down to the atomic level in either ultra-high-vacuum(UHV)or harsh electrochemical conditions.The detailed knowledge of surface structures,surface electronic structures,surface active sites as well as the interaction between surface adsorbates and electrocatalysts is highly beneficial in the study of electrocatalytic mechanisms and for the rational design of electrocatalysts.Based on this,this review will discuss the application of STM in the characterization of electrocatalyst surfaces and the investigation of electrochemical interfaces between electrocatalyst surfaces and reactants.Based on different operating conditions,UHV-STM and STM in electrochemical environments(EC-STM)are discussed separately.This review will also present emerging techniques including high-speed EC-STM,scanning noise microscopy and tip-enhanced Raman spectroscopy.Haifeng Feng Xun Xu Yi Du Shi Xue Dou 2021Electrochemical Energy Reviews2021,4,2:2

19Sumoylation of SUVR2 contributes to its role in transcriptional gene silencing显示文摘The SU(VAR)-3-9-related protein family member SUVR2 has been previously identified to be involved in transcriptional gene silencing both in RNA-dependent and-independent pathways. It interacts with the chromatin-remodeling proteins CHR19,CHR27, and CHR28(CHR19/27/28), which are also involved in transcriptional gene silencing. Here our study demonstrated that SUVR2 is almost fully mono-sumoylated in vivo. We successfully identified the exact SUVR2 sumoylation site by combining in vitro mass spectrometric analysis and in vivo immunoblotting confirmation. The luminescence imaging assay and quantitative RT-PCR results demonstrated that SUVR2 sumoylation is involved in transcriptional gene silencing. Furthermore, we found that SUVR2 sumoylation is required for the interaction of SUVR2 with CHR19/27/28, which is consistent with the fact that SUMO proteins are necessary for transcriptional gene silencing. 20Numerical simulations of flow and sediment transport within the Ning-Meng reach of the Yellow River,northern China显示文摘Effective management of a river reach requires a sound understanding of flow and sediment transport generated by varying natural and artificial runoff conditions. Flow and sediment transport within the Ning-Meng reach of the Yellow River(NMRYR), northern China are controlled by a complex set of factors/processes, mainly including four sets of factors:(1) aeolian sediments from deserts bordering the main stream;(2) inflow of water and sediment from numerous tributaries;(3) impoundment of water by reservoir/hydro-junction; and(4) complex diversion and return of irrigation water. In this study, the 1-D flow & sediment transport model developed by the Yellow River Institute of Hydraulic Research was used to simulate the flow and sediment transport within the NMRYR from 2001 to 2012. All four sets of factors that primarily control the flow and sediment transport mentioned above were considered in this model. Compared to the measured data collected from the hydrological stations along the NMRYR, the simulated flow and sediment transport values were generally acceptable, with relative mean deviation between measured and simulated values of <15%. However, simulated sediment concentration and siltation values within two sub-reaches(i.e., Qingtongxia Reservoir to Bayan Gol Hydrological Station and Bayan Gol Hydrological Station to Toudaoguai Hydrological Station) for some periods exhibited relatively large errors(the relative mean deviations between measured and simulated values of 18% and 25%, respectively). These errors are presumably related to the inability to accurately determine the quantity of aeolian sediment influx to the river reach and the inflow of water from the ten ephemeral tributaries.
