4ABNORMAL FLOWER AND GRAIN 1 encodes OsMADS6 and determines palea identity and affects rice grain yield and quality显示文摘The palea and lemma are floral organ structures unique to grasses;these structures form the hull and directly affect grain size and quality. However, the molecular mechanisms controlling the development of the hull are not well understood. In this study, we characterized the rice(Oryza sativa) abnormal flower and grain1(afg1) mutant, a new allele of OsMADS6. Similar to previously characterized osmads6 alleles, in the afg1 floret, the palea lost its marginal region and acquired the lemma identity. However, in contrast to other osmads6 alleles, the afg1 mutant showed altered grain size and grain quality, with decreased total starch and amylose contents, and increased protein and soluble sugar contents. The analysis of transcriptional activity suggested that AFG1 is a transcriptional activator and may affect grain size by regulating the expression levels of several genes related to cell expansion and proliferation in the afg1 mutant. 6EMBRYONIC FACTOR 19 Encodes a Pentatricopeptide Repeat Protein that is Essential for the Initiation of Zygotic Embryogenesis in Arabidopsis显示文摘Early embryogenesis is the most fundamental developmental process in biology.Screening of ethyl methanesulfonate(EMS)-mutagenized populations of Arabidopsis thaliana led to the identification of a zygote-lethal mutant embryonic factor 19(fac19)in which embryo development was arrested at the elongated zygote to octant stage.The number of endosperm nuclei decreased significantly in fac19 embryos.Genetic analysis showed fac19 was caused by a single recessive mutation with typical mendelian segregation,suggesting equal maternal and paternal contributions of FAC19 towards zygotic embryogenesis.Positional cloning showed that FAC19 encodes a putative mitochondrial protein with 16 conserved pentatricopeptide repeat(PPR)motifs.The fac19 mutation caused a conversion from hydrophilic serine located in a previously unknown domain to hydrophobic leucine.Crosses between FAC19/fac19 and the T-DNA insertion mutants in the same gene failed to complement the fac19 defects,confirming the identity of the gene.This study revealed the critical importance of a PPR protein-mediated mitochondrial function in early embryogenesis.Dali Yu Li Jiang Huaqin Gong Chun-Ming Liu 2012Journal of Integrative Plant Biology2012,54,1:8

8The pleiotropic ABNORMAL FLOWER AND DWARF1 affects plant height, floral development and grain yield in rice显示文摘Moderate plant height and successful establishment of reproductive organs play pivotal roles in rice grain production. The molecular mechanism that controls the two aspects remains unclear in rice. In the present study,we characterized a rice gene, ABNORMAL FLOWER AND DWARF1(AFD1) that determined plant height, floral development and grain yield. The afd1 mutant showed variable defects including the dwarfism, long panicle, low seed setting and reduced grain yield. In addition, abnormal floral organs were also observed in the afd1 mutant including slender and thick hulls, and hull-like lodicules.AFD1 encoded a DUF640 domain protein and was expressed in all tested tissues and organs. Subcellular localization showed AFD1-green fluorescent fusion protein(GFP) was localized in the nucleus. 9Rapid Creation of New Photoperiod-/Thermo-Sensitive Genic Male-Sterile Rice Materials by CRISPR/Cas9 System显示文摘Rice is an important food crop in China, and the development of hybrid rice is a crucial way to increase grain yield. The creation of dual-purpose nuclear-sterile lines for two-line hybrid breeding has become vital for commercial rice breeding. We constructed the pC1300-2 x35 S::Cas9-sgRNA^(PTGMS2-1) expression vector for editing the male fertility gene PTGMS2-1 in two widely compatible rice varieties, 93-11 and Huazhan, by using the CRISPR/Cas9 system. We obtained the marker-free photoperiod-/thermo-sensitive genic male-sterile(P/TGMS) lines in T_1 generation. According to the experiments in phytotron with four temperature and photoperiod treatments, we found the temperature is the main factor for restoring the pollen fertility of ptgms2-1 mutants in 93-11 and Huazhan, and the photoperiod also has some effects on pollen fertility in two different rice backgrounds. 12Identification and characterization of Mini1, a gene regulating rice shoot development显示文摘The aerial parts of higher plants are generated from the shoot apical meristem(SAM). In this study, we isolated a small rice(Oryza sativa L.) mutant that showed premature termination of shoot development and was named mini rice 1(mini1). The mutant was first isolated from a japonica cultivar Zhonghua11(ZH11) subjected to ethyl methanesulfonate(EMS)treatment. With bulked segregant analysis(BSA) and map-based cloning method, Mini1 gene was finally fine-mapped to an interval of 48.6 kb on chromosome 9. Sequence analyses revealed a single base substitution from G to A was found in the region, which resulted in an amino acid change from Gly to Asp.The candidate gene Os09g0363900 was predicted to encode a putative adhesion of calyx edges protein ACE(putative HOTHEAD precursor) and genetic complementation experiment confirmed the identity of Mini1. Os09g0363900 contains glucose-methanol-choline(GMC) oxidoreductase and NAD(P)-binding Rossmann-like domain, and exhibits high similarity to Arabidopsis HOTHEAD(HTH). 14Integrating photocatalytic reduction of CO2 with selective oxidation of tetrahydroisoquinoline over InP–In2O3 Z-scheme p-n junction显示文摘The development of a facile strategy to construct stable hierarchal porous heterogeneous photocatalysts remains a great challenge for efficient CO2 reduction.Additionally,hole-trapping sacrificial agents(e.g.,triethanolamine,triethylamine,and methanol)are mostly necessary,which produce useless chemicals,and thus cause costs/environmental concerns.Therefore,utilizing oxidation ability of holes to develop an alternative photooxidation reaction to produce value-added chemicals,especially coupled with CO2 photoreduction,is highly desirable.Here,an in situ partial phosphating method of In2O3 is reported for synthesizing In P–In2O3 p-n junction.A highly selective photooxidation of tetrahydroisoquinoline(THIQ)into value-added dihydroisoquinoline(DHIQ)is to replace the hole driven oxidation of typical sacrificial agents.Meanwhile,the photoelectrons of In P–In2O3 p-n junction can induce the efficient photoreduction of CO2 to CO with high selectivity and stability.The evolution rates of DHIQ and CO are 2 and 3.8 times higher than those of the corresponding In2O3 n-type precursor,respectively.In situ irradiated X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy and electron spin resonance are utilized to confirm that the direct Z-scheme mechanism of In P–In2O3 p-n junction accelerate the efficient separation of photocarriers.Bohang Zhao Yi Huang Dali Liu Yifu Yu Bin Zhang 2020Science China Chemistry2020,63,1:2

16Geochronology,geochemistry and Hf isotope of monzogranite in Niubiziliang of Qinghai显示文摘Zircon U-Pb dating, whole-rock geochemical analyses and Hf isotope are undertaken for the monzogranite in Niubiziliang area with the aim of constraining its formation time,petrogenesis and the regional tectonic setting. The zircons from monzogranite are euhedral-subhedral in shape,and display rhythm growth zoning,indicating a magmatic origin. LA-ICP-MS zircon U-Pb dating indicates the monzogranite formed most probably in the Late Devonian( 359. 0 ± 2. 6 Ma). The monzogranite has Si O2= 74. 69%--76. 11%,Al2O3=12. 07%--12. 81%,Na2 O + K2 O = 8. 24%--8. 70%,Na2 O / K2 O = 0. 60--0. 68,A / CNK > 1,which shows that it belongs to high-Si and high-K weakly peraluminous calc-alkaline series. The monzogranite is enriched in K,Rb,Th( LILEs) and La,Ce,Sm,Nd( LREEs); and depleted in Ba,U( HREEs) and Ta,Nb( HFSEs).Their zircon εHf( t) values range from 1. 21 to 3. 46,in response to their two-stage Hf model ages( TDM2) ranging from 1 034 Ma to 1 159 Ma,respectively,indicating that the primary magma was derived from the young crust in Meso-Neoproterozoic.
