3Blocking the JAK2/STAT3 and ERK pathways suppresses the proliferation of gastrointestinal cancers by inducing apoptosis显示文摘Dysregulated crosstalk between different signaling pathways contributes to tumor development,including resistance to cancer therapy.In the present study,we found that the mitogen-activated extracellular signal-regulated kinase(MEK)inhibitor trametinib failed to suppress the proliferation of PANC-1 and MGC803 cells by activating the Janus kinase 2(JAK2)/signal transducer and activator of transcription 3(STAT3)signaling pathway,while the JAK2 inhibitor fedratinib failed to inhibit the growth of the PANC-1 cells upon stimulation of extracellular signal-regulated kinase(ERK)signaling.In particular,the most prominent enhancement of the anti-proliferative effect resulted from the concurrent blockage of the JAK2/STAT3 and ERK signaling pathways.Furthermore,the combination of the two inhibitors resulted in a reduced tumor burden in mice.Our evidence suggests novel crosstalk between JAK2/STAT3 and ERK signaling in gastric cancer(GC)and pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma(PDAC)cells and provides a therapeutic strategy to overcome potential resistance in gastrointestinal cancer.Xi WANG Chunyan DAI Yifei YIN Lin WU Weiyang JIN Yufei FU Zhe CHEN Ke HAO Bin LU 2021Journal of Zhejiang University-Science B(Biomedicine & Biotechnology)2021,22,6:4
4The Effect of 2,5-hexanedione on Myelin Protein Zero Expression,and Its Mitigation Using Ginkgo Biloba Extract显示文摘Objective To investigate the role of myelin protein zero (P 0) in 2,5-hexanedione (2,5-HD)-induced peripheral nerve injury,and the protective effect of Ginkgo biloba extract (Egb761) on 2,5-HD-induced toxic peripheral neuropathy.Methods After 4 weeks of treatment with 2,5-HD at different doses (50,100,200,400 mg/kg) in rats,changes in the levels of P 0 in rat sciatic nerves was investigated,and the effect of Egb761 on 2,5-HD-induced toxic peripheral neuropathy was studied.Results The blood-nerve barrier (BNB) permeability of the sciatic nerve increased,and the expression of P 0 mRNA and P 0 protein decreased in a dose-dependent manner after treatment with 2,5-HD for 4 weeks.Pretreatment with Egb761 protected against BNB interruption,and inhibited P 0 mRNA and protein reduction during 2,5-HD treatment.Pretreatment with Egb761 significantly reduced loss of body weight (P<0.01) and mitigated gait abnormalities (2.85±0.22) induced by 400 mg/kg 2,5-HD (P<0.01).It also reduced the signs of neurotoxicity induced by 2,5-HD.Conclusion 2,5-HD inhibited the expression of P 0 in a dose-dependent manner,and this may be an important mechanism by which toxic peripheral neuropathy is induced by 2,5-HD.Egb761 has a protective effect against 2,5-HD-induced peripheral neurotoxicity in rats.ZHAO Lei LIU QingJun CHEN Hong DUAN HuaWei BIN Ping LIU Qing NIU Yong DAI YuFei ZHENG YuXin 2011Biomedical and Environmental Sciences2011,24,4:3

6Highly-efficient thermoelectric-driven light-emitting diodes based on colloidal quantum dots显示文摘Driven by sub-bandgap electric work and Peltier heat,thermoelectric-driven light-emitting diodes(TED-LEDs)not only offer much enhanced power-conversion-efficiency but also eliminate the waste heat generated during the operation of LEDs.However,costeffective and high-efficiency TED-LEDs are not readily accessible for the epitaxially grown III-V LEDs due to the high chip cost and efficiency droop at low-medium brightness(current densities).Here we show that electroluminescence of colloidal quantum dots(QDs)LEDs(QLEDs)circumvents the deficiencies faced by conventional LEDs.The optimal red-emitting device fabricated by cost-effective solution processing technics exhibits external-and internal-power-conversion-efficiency of 21.5%and 93.5%at 100 cd/m^(2),suited for high-efficiency solid-state lighting and high-resolution display.At this brightness,the electric driving voltage(V)of 1.89 V is lower than the photon voltage(Vp=hv/q=1.96 V,q being the elemental charge).With typical Vp=1.96 V,electroluminescence can be detected with the driving voltage as low as 1.0-1.2 V.Luminance of the thermoelectric-driven QLEDs(TED-QLEDs)remains ideally diffusion-dominated with the driving voltage lower than~1.5 V,and further improvement on charge transport is expected to extend the linear ideality to all practical driving voltages.Xing Lin Xingliang Dai Zikang Ye Yufei Shu Zixuan Song Xiaogang Peng 2022Nano Research2022,15,10:2

14Noninvasive and nondestructive sampling for avian microsatellite genotyping: a case study on the vulnerable Chinese Egret (Egretta eulophotes)显示文摘Background: Noninvasive and nondestructive DNA sampling techniques are becoming more important in genetic studies because they can provide genetic material from wild animals with less or even without disturbance,which is particularly useful for the study of endangered species,i.e.,birds.However,nondestructively and noninvasively sampled DNA may,in some cases,be inadequate in the amount and quality of the material collected,which can lead to low amplification success rates and high genotyping errors.Methods: In this study,noninvasive(eggshell swab,shed feather and feces),nondestructive(plucked feather and buccal swab) and invasive(blood) DNA samples were collected from the vulnerable Chinese Egret(Egretta eulophotes).DNA concentrations,PCR amplification success and microsatellite genotyping errors of different sample types were evaluated and compared to determine whether noninvasive and nondestructive samples performed as well as invasive samples in our experimental procedures.Results: A total of 159 samples were collected in the field.Among the different sample types,the highest DNA concentrations(154.0–385.5 ng/μL) were obtained from blood.Those extracted from fecal samples were the lowest,ranging from 1.25 to 27.5 ng/μL.Almost all of the DNA samples,i.e.,95.59 %,were successfully amplified for mt DNA(n = 152) and 92.76 % of mt DNA samples were successfully genotyped for at least five of the nine microsatellite loci tested(n = 141).Blood samples and buccal swabs produced reliable genotypes with no genotyping errors,but in feces,allelic dropouts and false alleles occurred in all nine loci,with error rates ranging from 6.67 to 38.10 % for the dropouts and from 6.06 to 15.15 % for the false alleles.Conclusions: These results indicate that both nondestructive and noninvasive samplings are suitable for avian microsatellite genotyping,save for fecal DNA.However,we should remain cautious of the appearance of genotyping errors,especially when using noninvasive material.Yufei Dai Qingxian Lin Wenzhen Fang Xiaoping Zhou Xiaolin Chen 2015Chinese Birds2015,,4:1

19An overview of cetacean strandings, bycatches and rescues along the western coast of the Taiwan Strait, China: 2010–2015显示文摘The analysis of cetacean strandings can provide fundamental information about species diversity and composition in a particular region. The present study collected and analyzed cetacean strandings, bycatches and rescues along the western coast of the Taiwan Strait, China, from 2010 to 2015. In total, 48 records, including 37 strandings, 8 bycatches and 3 rescues, involving 13 known species were collected. Among them, Indo-Pacific humpback dolphins(Sousa chinensis) and finless porpoises(Neophocaena phocaenoides) were the most common species, consisting of 31.3% and 25%, respectively. Notably, 10 out of the 48(20.8%) records were collected from the Pingtan Island and included 3 species of Mysticeti and 4 species of Odontoceti. Finally, we compared the cetacean species composition between the western and eastern coasts of the Taiwan Strait; 31 cetacean species occurred in the Taiwan Strait, indicating a relatively high cetacean diversity in this region.
