| 1 | Use of genotype-environment interactions to elucidate the pattern of maize root plasticity to nitrogen deficiency显示文摘Maize(Zea mays L.) root morphology exhibits a high degree of phenotypic plasticity to nitrogen(N) de ficiency,but the underlying genetic architecture remains to be investigated Using an advanced BC_4F_3 population,we investigated the root growth plasticity under two contrasted N levels and identi fied the quantitative trait loci(QTLs) with QTL-environment(Q×E)interaction effects. Principal components analysis(PCA) on changes of root traits to N de ficiency(D LN-HN) showed that root length and biomass contributed for 45.8% in the same magnitude and direction on the first PC,while root traits scattered highly on PC_2 and PC_3. Hierarchical cluster analysis on traits for D LN-HN further assigned the BC_4F_3 lines into six groups,in which the special phenotypic responses to N de ficiency was presented These results revealed the complicated root plasticity of maize in response to N de ficiency that can be caused by genotype environment(G×E) interactions. Furthermore,QTL mapping using a multi-environment analysis identi fied 35 QTLs for root traits. Nine of these QTLs exhibited signi ficant Q×E interaction effects. | 2 | Dark matter direct search sensitivity of the PandaX-4T experiment显示文摘The Panda X-4T experiment, a 4-ton scale dark matter direct detection experiment, is being planned at the China Jinping Underground Laboratory. In this paper we present a simulation study of the expected background in this experiment. In a 2.8-ton fiducial mass and the signal region between 1-10 keV electron equivalent energy, the total electron recoil background is found to be 4.9 × 10^(-5) kg^(-1) d^(-1) keV^(-1). The nuclear recoil background in the same region is 2.8 × 10^(-7) kg^(-1) d^(-1) keV^(-1). | 3 | Nitrous oxide emissions from different land use patterns in a typical karst region, Southwest China显示文摘Fluxes of nitrous oxide (N2O) from different land use patterns (matured forest, secondary forest, grassland and cropland) in a subtropical karst region of Guizhou Province, Southwest China, were measured for one year with a closed static chamber technique and by gas chromatography. The results showed that soil under different land uses was a source of atmospheric N2O. The cropland was a source with relatively high N2O as compared to forest and grassland, but no significant differences were observed. N2O emissions from soils varied with land use change and fertilizer application. There were two peaks of N2O flux occurred following the combination of two obvious precipitation and fertilizer events in the cultivated land. Converting from the matured forest to secondary forest tended to increase annual emissions of N2O (from 1.40 to 1.65 kg N ha -1 a -1 ), while changing land use from secondary forest to scattered grassland tended to decrease annual emissions of N2O slightly (from 1.65 to 1.45 kg N ha -1 a -1 ). Our range of cumulative annual N2O emission across different land uses (1.40-1.91 kg N ha -1 a -1 ) in a karst region is in general agreement with previously published data in a non-karst region. However, in the maize field, N2O emission factor (EF) was 0.34% for fertilizer application, which is about 71.2% lower than the IPCC default value. It is suggested that current IPCC (Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change) EF methodology could overestimate N2O emission from the karstic cropland. | 4 | Fabrication of Al_2O_3-NaCl Composite Heat Storage Materials by One-step Synthesis Method显示文摘Thermal energy storage is an attractive option for effectiveness since it gives flexibility and reduces energy consumption and costs. New composite materials for storage and transformation of heat of NaCl-Al_2O_3 composite materials were synthesized by one-step synthesis method. The chemical composition, morphology, structure, and thermal properties were investigated by XRD, EDS, SEM, and DSC. The results show that NaCl can be absorbed by Al_2O_3 particle from 800 to 900 ℃ for Al_2O_3 particle surface is rich active structure. The results also indicate that the leakage of NaCl when the phase change can be prevented by Al_2O_3 particles and the enthalpy of phase change of NaCl-Al_2O_3 material is 362 J/g. The composites have an excellent heat storage capacity. | 5 | Simulation analysis of environmental risk accident and management of high-sulfur gas field development in complex terrain显示文摘Environmental risk of high sulfur gas field exploitation has become one of the hot spots of environmental management studies.Severe gas H_(2)S blowout accidents in recent years have shown that poor understanding and estimates of the poisonous gas movement could lead to dangerous evacuation delays.It is important to evaluate the real concentration of H_(2)S,especially in complex terrain.Traditional experiential models are not valid in the case of rough terrain,especially in low-lying areas where the gas accumulates.This study,using high sulfur content gas field of Sichuan“Pu Guang gas field”as study object and adopting objective diagnosis of wind field of land following coordinate three dimensions,applied Lagrangian Puff Model and breaking up technique of puffs to simulate the H_(2)S diffusion condition of blowout accidents produced in the high sulfur content gas field of complex terrain area.The results showed that the H_(2)S distribution did not occur mainly in low wind direction,and due to the obstruction of the mountain’s body,it accumulated in front of mountain on produced turn over,flowed around submitted jumping type distribution.The mountain waist near the hilltop and low hollow river valley site rapture points simulating contrast showed that the higher the rapture point,the better the diffusing condition of pollutant,the distribution of risk sensitive point decided piping rupture environmental risk size combining the H_(2)S diffusion result and residential area dispersing in the study area,synthetic judge located in the high rapture point environmental risk was smaller than the low hollow point,thus it was suggested to carryout laying of lining build of equal high line of higher terrain.According to simulation results,the environmental risk management measures aimed at putting down adverse effects were worked out. | Xiao WANG Fanghua HAO Xuan ZHANG Wen SUN Hongguang CHENG | 2008 | Frontiers of Environmental Science & Engineering2008,2,3: | 3 |

| 7 | Biogas Production from Anaerobic Digestion of High Oil Waste显示文摘The possibility of anaerobic digestion of high oil waste at high temperatures was explored,and the effects of fat concentration on biogas production via anaerobic digestion were analyzed by batch and continuous experiments successively. Besides,the response and recovery of the digestion system to the shock of high concentrations of oil were studied. The results showed that the anaerobic digestion of high oil waste could be carried out,and fat concentration had a significant effect on the anaerobic digestion. In the batch experiments,the process of anaerobic digestion could carry out only when fat concentration was 0-1. 68%,and the average methane content was 46. 42%; with the increase of fat concentration,both methane content and production rate decreased significantly,and the digestion period was extended obviously. When fat concentration exceeded 2. 52%,the anaerobic digestion failed to start,and methane could not be detected in the produced biogas. In the continuous experiments,the system could withstand a certain concentration of fat( 6 g/L),and anaerobic digestion process would be inhibited when it experienced the impact of a high oil load( 26. 7 g/L). Nevertheless,this process could recover quickly after the removal of the impact,and the system could withstand a higher fat concentration( 13 g/L) than before. | 8 | Game theoretic analysis of environmental impact assessment system in China显示文摘Environmental impact assessment(EIA)system has been established in China since 1973.In present EIA cases,there are four participants in general:governments,enterprises,EIA organizations and the public.The public has held responsible for both social costs and social duties.The public supervises social costs produced by enterprises discharging pollutant in EIA.However public participation is mostly deputized by governments,which severely weaken the independence of the public as one participant in EIA.In this paper,EIA refers to the different attitudes of the par-ticipants whose optional strategies may be described by a proper game model.According to disfigurements in EIA,three sides(governments,enterprises,and EIA organizations)dynamic iterative game theory of many phases is established referring to iterative game theory,dynamic game theory of incomplete information,and perfect Bayesian equilibrium theory to analyze the reciprocity relation among governments,EIA organizations and enterprises.The results show that in a short period,economic benefit is preponderant over social benefit.Governments and enterprises both do not want to take EIA to reveal social costs.EIA organizations’income comes from enterprises and the collusions are built between them to vindicate economic benefit.In a long run,social benefit loss caused by environmental pollution must be recuperated sooner or later and environmental deterioration will influence the achievements of economic benefit,so both governments and enterprises are certain to pursue high social benefit and willing to take EIA,helpful to increase private benefit.EIA organizations will make fair assessment when their economic benefit are ensured.At present,the public as silent victims can not take actual part in EIA.The EIA system must be improved to break the present equilibrium of three sides,bringing the public to the equilibrium to exert public supervision. | CHENG Hongguang QI Ye PU Xiao GONG Li | 2007 | Frontiers of Environmental Science & Engineering2007,1,4: | 1 |

In this paper,through a batch of experiments,the feasibility of anaerobic co-digestion of dead pigs and pig manure was verified,and effects of addition proportion of dead pigs and reaction temperature on biogas production from the anaerobic co-digestion were analyzed. | 18 | Probing the roles of pH and ionic strength on electrostatic binding of tetracycline by dissolved organic matters: Reevaluation of modified fitting model显示文摘The binding performance of dissolved organic matters (DOM) plays a critical role in the migration,diffusion and removal of various residual pollutants in the natural water environment. In the currentstudy, four typical DOMs (including bovine serum proteins BSA (proteins), sodium alginate SAA (polysaccharides), humic acid HA and fulvic acid FA (humus)) are selected to investigate the binding roles inzwitterionic tetracycline (TET) antibiotic under various ionic strength (IS ¼ 0.001e0.1 M) and pH (5.0e9.0). The dialysis equilibration technique was employed to determine the binding concentrations ofTET, and the influence of IS and pH on binding performance was evaluated via UVevis spectroscopy, totalorganic carbon (TOC), and Excitation-Emission-Matrix spectra (EEM), zeta potentials and molecule sizedistribution analysis. Our results suggested that carboxyl and phenolic hydroxyl were identified as themain contributors to TET binding based on the fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) analysis,and the binding capability of four DOMs followed as HA > FA » BSA > SAA. The biggest binding concentrations of TET by 10 mg C/L HA, FA, BSA and SAA were 0.863 mM, 0.487 mM, 0.084 mM and 0.086 mM,respectively. The higher binding capability of HA and FA is mainly attributed to their richer functionalgroups, lower zeta potential (HA/FA ¼ 15.92/-13.54 mV) and the bigger molecular size (HA/FA ¼ 24668/27750 nm). IS significantly inhibits the binding interaction by compressing the molecular structure andthe surface electric double layer, while pH had a weak effect. By combining the Donnan model and themultiple linear regression analysis, a modified Karickhoff model was established to effectively predict thebinding performance of DOM under different IS (0.001e0.1 M) and pH (5.0e9.0) conditions, and the R2 oflinear fitting between experiment-measured logKDOC and model-calculated logKOC were 0.94 for HA and0.91 for FA. | 19 | Characterizing Constituents of Sediment Phosphorus Fractionation in a Freshwater Shallow Lake System显示文摘[Objective] This study aimed to characterize constituents of phosphorus(P)fractionation as well as reciprocities among factors in sediments of a freshwater shallow lake. [Method] Surface sediment was discretely sampled at 24 sites through Van Veen grabs. Based on a modified sequential extraction scheme, P fractionation was determined as Fe/Al bound P(Fe/Al-P), Ca bound P(Ca-P), solute and reductive P(S/R-P) and organic P(OP). Curve estimation and Pearson product-moment correlation were employed for statistical analysis. [Result] Total P(TP) content ranged from 443 to 774 mg/kg. Inorganic P(IP) was the major component of TP,of which Ca-P was dominated with an average of 51%±9.7%. Average contents of P fractionation were in the following order: Ca-P(51%) > OP(29%) > S/R-P(8%) >Fe/Al-P(7%). The molar ratio of Fe to P was 11- 20, close to the threshold value of P leaching. [Conclusion] In freshwater shallow lakes, IP and Ca-P were prone to be relatively high, whereas Fe/Al-P was low compared with deep lakes. Occurrence of spatially monotonic gradient indicated the primary causation of anthropogenic sources. Imminent sediment P liberation was also expected. Close associations among TP, Fe/Al-P and Ca-P, implying that anthropogenic P was mainly bound to metals in particulates.
