High-resolution remote sensing mapping of global land water显示文摘Land water, one of the important components of land cover, is the indispensable and important basic information for climate change studies, ecological environment assessment, macro-control analysis, etc. This article describes the overall study on land water in the program of global land cover remote sensing mapping. Through collection and processing of Landsat TM/ETM+, China's HJ-1 satellite image, etc., the program achieves an effective overlay of global multi-spectral image of 30 m resolution for two base years, namely, 2000 and 2010, with the image rectification accuracy meeting the requirements of 1:200000 mapping and the error in registration of images for the two periods being controlled within 1 pixel. The indexes were designed and selected reasonably based on spectral features and geometric shapes of water on the scale of 30 m resolution, the water information was extracted in an elaborate way by combining a simple and easy operation through pixel-based classification method with a comprehensive utilization of various rules and knowledge through the object-oriented classification method, and finally the classification results were further optimized and improved by the human-computer interaction, thus realizing high-resolution remote sensing mapping of global water. The completed global land water data results, including Global Land 30-water 2000 and Global Land 30-water 2010, are the classification results featuring the highest resolution on a global scale, and the overall accuracy of self-assessment is 96%. These data are the important basic data for developing relevant studies, such as analyzing spatial distribution pattern of global land water, revealing regional difference, studying space-time fluctuation law, and diagnosing health of ecological environment. | LIAO AnPing CHEN LiJun CHEN Jun HE ChaoYing CAO Xin CHEN Jin PENG Shu SUN FangDi GONG Peng | 2014 | Science China Earth Sciences2014,57,10: | 22

Preliminary analysis of spatiotemporal pattern of global land surface water显示文摘Land surface water(LSW) is one of the most important resources for human survival and development, and it is also a main component of global water recycling. A full understanding of the spatial distribution of land surface water and a continuous measuring of its dynamics can support to diagnose the global ecosystem and environment. Based on the Global Land 30-water 2000 and Global Land 30-water 2010 products, this research analyzed the spatial distribution pattern and temporal fluctuation of land surface water under scale-levels of global, latitude and longitude, continents, and climate zones. The Global Land 30-water products were corrected the temporal inconsistency of original remotely sensed data using MODIS time-series data, and then calculated the indices such as water area, water ration and coefficient of spatial variation for further analysis. Results show that total water area of land surface is about 3.68 million km2(2010), and occupies 2.73% of land area. The spatial distribution of land surface water is extremely uneven and is gathered mainly in mid- to high-latitude area of the Northern Hemisphere and tropic area. The comparison of water ratio between 2000 and 2010 indicates the overall fluctuation is small but spatially differentiated. The Global Land 30-water products and the statistics provided the fundamental information for analyzing the spatial distribution pattern and temporal fluctuation of land surface water and diagnosing the global ecosystem and environment. | CAO Xin CHEN Jun CHEN LiJun LIAO AnPing SUN FangDi LI Yang LI Lei LIN ZhongHui PANG ZhiGuo CHEN Jin HE ChaoYing PENG Shu | 2014 | Science China Earth Sciences2014,57,10: | 8
Blunted nitric oxide regulation in Tibetans under high-altitude hypoxia显示文摘Nitric oxide(NO) is an important molecule for vasomotor tone, and elevated NO signaling was previously hypothesized as a unique and adaptive physiological change in highland Tibetans. However, there has been lack of NO data from Tibetans living at low altitude and lowlander immigrants living at high altitude, which is crucial to test this hypothesis. Here, through cross-altitude(1990–5018 m) and cross-population(Tibetans and Han Chinese) analyses of serum NO metabolites(NOx) of 2086 individuals, we demonstrate that although Tibetans have a higher serum NOx level compared to lowlanders, Han Chinese immigrants living at high altitude show an even higher level than Tibetans. Consequently, our data contradict the previous proposal of increased NO signaling as the unique adaptive strategy in Tibetans.Instead, Tibetans have a relatively lower circulating NOx level at high altitude. This observation is further supported by data from the hypoxic experiments using human umbilical vein endothelial cells and gene knockout mice. No difference is detected between Tibetans and Han Chinese for endothelial nitric oxide synthase(e NOS), the key enzyme for circulating NO synthesis, suggesting that e NOS itself is unlikely to be the cause. We show that other NO synthesis-related genes(e.g. GCH1) carry Tibetan-enriched mutations significantly associated with the level of circulating NOx in Tibetans. Furthermore, gene network analysis revealed that the downregulation and upregulation of NOx is possibly achieved through distinct pathways.Collectively, our findings provide novel insights into the physiological and genetic mechanisms of the evolutionary adaptation of Tibetans to high-altitude hypoxia. | Yaoxi He Xuebin Qi Ouzhuluobu Shiming Liu Jun Li Hui Zhang Baimakangzhuo Caijuan Bai Wangshan Zheng Yongbo Guo Duojizhuoma Baimayangji Dejiquzong Bianba Gonggalanzi Yongyue Pan Qula Kangmin Cirenyangji Wei Guo Yangla Yi Peng Xiaoming Zhang Kun Xiang Zhaohui Yang Liangbang Wang Gengdeng Yanfeng Zhang Tianyi Wu Bing Su Chaoying Cui | 2018 | National Science Review2018,5,4: | 7
A semiempirical algorithm for SAR wave height retrieval and its validation using Envisat ASAR wave mode data显示文摘Many synthetic aperture radar(SAR) wave height retrieval algorithms have been developed. However, the wave height retrievals from most existing methods either depend on other input as the first guess or are restricted to the long wave regime.A semiempirical algorithm is presented, which has the objective to estimate the wave height from SAR imagery without any prior knowledge. The proposed novel algorithm was developed based on the theoretical SAR ocean wave imaging mechanism and the empirical relation between two types of wave period. The dependency of the proposed model on radar incident and wave direction was analyzed. For Envisat advanced synthetic aperture radar(ASAR) wave mode data, the model can be reduced to the simple form with two input parameters,i.e.,the cutoff wavelength and peak wavelength of ocean wave, which can be retrieved from SAR imagery without any prior knowledge of wind or wave.Using Envisat ASAR wave mode data and the collocated buoy measurements from NDBC,the semiempirical algorithm is validated and compared with the Envisat ASAR level 2 products. The root-mean-square-error(RMSE) and scatter index(SI) in respect to the in situ measurements are 0.52 m and 19% respectively.Validation results indicate that, for Envisat ASAR wave mode data, the proposed method works well. | WANG He ZHU Jianhua YANG Jingsong SHI Chaoying | 2012 | Acta Oceanologica Sinica2012,31,3: | 6

De novo assembly of a Tibetan genome and identification of novel structural variants associated with high-altitude adaptation显示文摘Structural variants(SVs) may play important roles in human adaptation to extreme environments such as high altitude but have been under-investigated. Here, combining long-read sequencing with multiple scaffolding techniques, we assembled a high-quality Tibetan genome(ZF1), with a contig N50 length of 24.57 mega-base pairs(Mb) and a scaffold N50 length of 58.80 Mb. The ZF1 assembly filled 80 remaining N-gaps(0.25 Mb in total length) in the reference human genome(GRCh38). Markedly, we detected17 900 SVs, among which the ZF1-specific SVs are enriched in GTPase activity that is required for activation of the hypoxic pathway. Further population analysis uncovered a 163-bp intronic deletion in the MKL1 gene showing large divergence between highland Tibetans and lowland Han Chinese. This deletion is significantly associated with lower systolic pulmonary arterial pressure, one of the key adaptive physiological traits in Tibetans. Moreover, with the use of the high-quality de novo assembly, we observed a much higher rate of genome-wide archaic hominid(Altai Neanderthal and Denisovan) shared non-reference sequences in ZF1(1.32%–1.53%) compared to other East Asian genomes(0.70%–0.98%),reflecting a unique genomic composition of Tibetans. One such archaic hominid shared sequence-a662-bp intronic insertion in the SCUBE2 gene-is enriched and associated with better lung function(the FEV1/FVC ratio) in Tibetans. Collectively, we generated the first high-resolution Tibetan reference genome, and the identified SVs may serve as valuable resources for future evolutionary and medical studies. | Ouzhuluobu Yaoxi He Haiyi Lou Chaoying Cui Lian Deng Yang Gao Wangshan Zheng Yongbo Guo Xiaoji Wang Zhilin Ning Jun Li Bin Li Caijuan Bai Baimakangzhuo Gonggalanzi Dejiquzong Bianba Duojizhuoma Shiming Liu Tianyi Wu Shuhua Xu Xuebin Qi Bing Su | 2020 | National Science Review2020,7,2: | 4
Spatial heterogeneity of a microbial community in Kongsfjorden,Svalbard during late summer 2006 and its relationship to biotic and abiotic factors显示文摘The 16S and 18S ribosomal ribonucleic acid genes of microbial organisms collected from the contrasting environments (temperature, salinity, silicate, phosphate and nitrate,p <0.05) of the inner and outer basins of Kongsfjorden (Spitsbergen,Arctic) were studied using polymerase chain reaction-denaturing gradient gel electrophoresis(DGGE) fingerprinting.Comparison of the microbial fingerprints and the physicochemical parameters revealed that molecular methodology exhibited a greater sensitivity.Sequences obtained from bacterial DGGE were affiliated with four main phylogenetic groups of bacteria:Proteobacteria(Alpha,Beta and Gamma),Bacteroidetes,Verrucomicrobia and Cyanobacteria. The relationships between the genotype distribution of these microbes and associated biotic/abiotic factors, revealed by canonical correspondence analysis, showed that Station 1 at 30 m (outer fjord) was grouped separately from the other sites. This difference could be a consequence of the thermocline and base of the euphotic layer at this depth where the Atlantic and Arctic-type waters overlapped. | GUO ChaoYing HE JianFeng ZHANG Fang CAI MingHong WANG GuiZhong | 2011 | Chinese Journal of Polar Science2011,22,1: | 3
Isolation and characterization of soybean NBS analogs显示文摘Isolation of plant resistance genes is greatly helpful to crop resistance breeding and the insight of resistance mechanism. The cloned plant resistance genes are classified into four classes according to their putative structural domain, of which the majority possesses nucleotide-binding site (NBS) domain that consists of P-loop, kinase2a and kinase3a. The conservation of this domain affords the potential possibility of cloning the plant resistance genes, which is homology-based cloning technique. In the present study, the degenerate oligonucleotide primers were designed according to the tobacco N and Arabidopsis RPS2, and 358 clones were isolated from the genomic DNA of resistance soybean culti-var Kefengl, resistant to soybean mosaic virus, and 4 open-reading NBS analogs were finally characterized and designated as KNBS1, KNBS2, KNBS3 and KNBS4. Southern hybridization suggested that they were present with multicopy in the soybean genome; KNBS4 was mapped to F linkage group and KNBS2 co-located J | Chaoying He Zhiyong Zhang Shouyi Chen | 2001 | Chinese Science Bulletin2001,46,23: | 3

Functional evolutionary developmental biology (evo-devo) of morphological novelties in plants显示文摘The origin of morphological and ecological novelties is a long-standing problem in evolutionary biology.Understanding these processes requires investigation from both the development and evolution standpoints, which promotes a new research field called 'evolutionary developmental biology' (evo-devo).The fundamental mechanism for the origin of a novel structure may involve heterotopy, heterochrony, ectopic expression,or loss of an existing regulatory factor.Accordingly, the morphological and ecological traits controlled by the regulatory genes may be gained, lost,or regained during evolution.Floral morphological novelties, for example, include homeotic alterations (related to organ identity),symmetric diversity, and changes in the size and morphology of the floral organs. These gains and losses can potentially arise through modification of the existing regulatory networks. Here,we review current knowledge concerning the origin of novel floral structures, such as 'evolutionary homeotic mutated flowers',floral symmetry in various plant species, and inflated calyx syndrome (ICS) within Solanaceae.Functional evo-devo of the morphological novelties is a central theme of plant evolutionary biology. In addition, the discussion is extended to consider agronomic or domestication-related traits, including the type, size, and morphology of fruits (berries),within Solanaceae. | Jisi ZHANG Ying TIAN Li WANG Chaoying HE | 2010 | Journal of Systematics and Evolution2010,48,2: | 2
A loss-of-function mutant allele of a glycosyl hydrolase gene has been co-opted for seed weight control during soybean domestication显示文摘The resultant DNA from loss-of-function mutation can be recruited in biological evolution and development. Here,we present such a rare and potential case of“to gain by loss”as a neomorphic mutation during soybean domestication for increasing seed weight.Using a population derived from a chromosome segment substitution line of Glycine max(SN14)and Glycine soja(ZYD06),a quantitative trait locus(QTL)of 100-seed weight(q HSW)was mapped on chromosome 11,corresponding to a truncatedβ-1,3-glucosidase(βGlu)gene.The novel gene hsw results from a 14-bp deletion, causing a frameshift mutation and a premature stop codon in theβGlu.In contrast to HSW,the hsw completely lostβGlu activity and function but acquired a novel function to promote cell expansion, thus increasing seed weight.Overexpressing hsw instead of HSW produced large soybean seeds, and surprisingly, truncating hsw via gene editing further increased the seed size.We further found that the core 21-aa peptide of hsw and its variants acted as a promoter of seed size.Transcriptomic variation in these transgenic soybean lines substantiated the integration hsw into cell and seed size control. Moreover, the hsw allele underwent selection and expansion during soybean domestication and improvement. Our work cloned a likely domesticated QTL controlling soybean seed weight, revealed a novel genetic variation and mechanism in soybean domestication, and provided new insight into crop domestication and breeding, and plant evolution. | Siming Wei Bin Yong Hongwei Jiang Zhenghong An Yan Wang Bingbing Li Ce Yang Weiwei Zhu Qingshan Chen Chaoying He | 2023 | Journal of Integrative Plant Biology2023,65,11: | 1

Transcriptomic responses in resistant and susceptible maize infected with Fusarium graminearum显示文摘Gibberella ear rot(GER)caused by Fusarium graminearum(teleomorph Gibberella zeae)is a common maize disease that not only severely reduces grain yield but also contaminates maize grain with mycotoxins. We investigated the molecular mechanism underlying the host defense responses against pathogen infection using comparative transcriptomic analysis. We injected F.graminearum spore suspensions into plants of resistant(IBM-81)and a susceptible(IBM-85)maize inbred line after pollination and performed RNA-seq 48,72,and 96 h after inoculation.Respectively 487 and 410 differentially expressed genes(DEGs)were induced in the resistant and susceptible lines across three time points, indicating that a stronger defense response was activated in the resistant than in the susceptible line.Among them,198 genes commonly induced in the two lines were subjected to pathway analysis, revealing that most of the DEGs were closely associated with defense and a wide range of metabolic activities.DEGs associated with pathogenesis-related protein 1(PR1)and regulation of salicylic acid were significantly enriched during F.graminearum infection, suggesting that these DEGs play dominant roles in maize resistance to GER.Our results provide a resource for future gene discovery and facilitate elucidation of the complex defense mechanisms involved in resistance to GER. | Guangsheng Yuan Xiujing He Hui Li Kui Xiang Li Liu Chaoying Zou Haijian Lin Jiali Wu Zhiming Zhang Guangtang Pan | 2020 | The Crop Journal2020,8,1: | 1
Current development and application of soybean genomics显示文摘Soybean (Glycine max), an important domesticated species originated in China, constitutes a major source ofedible oils and high-quality plant proteins worldwide. In spite of its complex genome as a consequence of an ancienttetraploidilization, platforms for map-based genomics, sequence-based genomics, comparative genomics and functionalgenomics have been well developed in the last decade, thus rich repertoires of genomic tools and resources are available, which have been influencing the soybean genetic improvement. Here we mainly review the progresses of soybean(including its wild relative Glycine soja) genomics and its impetus for soybean breeding, and raise the major biologicalquestions needing to be addressed. Genetic maps, physical maps, QTL and EST mapping have been so well achievedthat the marker assisted selection and positional cloning in soybean is feasible and even routine. Whole genomesequencing and transcriptomic analyses provide a large collection of molecular markers and predicted genes, which areinstrumental to comparative genomics and functional genomics. Comparative genomics has started to reveal theevolution of soybean genome and the molecular basis of soybean domestication process. Microarrays resources, mutagenesis and efficient transformation systems become essential components of soybean functional genomics.Furthermore, phenotypic functional genomics via both forward and reverse genetic approaches has inferred functionsof many genes involved in plant and seed development, in response to abiotic stresses, functioning in plant-pathogenicmicrobe interactions, and controlling the oil and protein content of seed. These achievements have paved the way forgeneration of transgenic or genetically modified (GM) soybean crops. | Lingli HE Jing ZHAO Man ZHAO Chaoying HE | 2011 | Frontiers in Biology2011,6,4: | 0

Seasonality and Sex-Biased Fluctuation of Birth Weight in Tibetan Populations显示文摘Birth weight(BW)is a key determinant of infant mortality.Previous studies have reported seasonal fluctuation of BW.However, the responsible environmental factors remain disputable.High-altitude environment provides a great opportunity to test the current hypotheses due to its distinctive climate conditions. We collected BW data of~9000 Tibetan singletons born at Lhasa(elevation:3660 m)from 2014 to 2018.Using regression models,we analyzed BW seasonality of highland Tibetans.Multivariate models with meteorological factors as independent variables were employed to examine responsible environmental factors accounting for seasonal variation. We compared BW,low-BW prevalence and sex ratio between high-land and lowland populations, and we observed a significant seasonal pattern of BW in Tibetans, with a peak in winter and a trough in summer.Notably, there is a marked sex-biased pattern of BW seasonality(more striking in males than in females).Sunlight exposure in the 3rd trimester and barometric pressure exposure in the 2nd trimester are significantly correlated with BW,and the latter can be explained by seasonal change of oxygen partial pressure. In particular, due to the male-biased BW seasonality,we found a more serious BW reduction and higher prevalence of low-BW in males, and a skewed sex ratio in highlanders. The infant BW of highland Tibetans has a clear pattern of seasonality. The winter BW is larger than the summer BW,due to the longer sunlight exposure during the late-trimester.Male infants are more sensitive to hypoxia than female infants during the 2nd trimester, leading to more BW reduction and higher mortality. | Yaoxi He Jun Li Tian Yue Wangshan Zheng Yongbo Guo Hui Zhang Li Chen Chunxia Li Hongyan Li Chaoying Cui Ouzhuluobu Xuebin Qi Bing Su | 2022 | Phenomics2022,2,1: | 0
The effect of lengths of branched-chain fatty alcohols on the efficacy and safety of docetaxel-prodrug nanoassemblies显示文摘The self-assembly prodrugs are usually consisted of drug modules, activation modules, and assembly modules.Keeping the balance between efficacy and safety by selecting suitable modules remains a challenge for developing prodrug nanoassemblies. This study designed four docetaxel(DTX)prodrugs using disulfide bonds as activation modules and different lengths of branched-chain fatty alcohols as assembly modules(C_(16),C_(18),C_(20),and C_(24)).The lengths of the assembly modules determined the self-assembly ability of prodrugs and affected the activation modules’sensitivity. The extension of the carbon chains improved the prodrugs’self-assembly ability and pharmacokinetic behavior while reducing the cytotoxicity and increased cumulative toxicity. The use of C_(20) can balance efficacy and safety. These results provide a great reference for the rational design of prodrug nanoassemblies. | Shuo Wang Tian Liu Yuetong Huang Chaoying Du Danping Wang Xiyan Wang Qingzhi Lv Zhonggui He Yinglei Zhai Bingjun Sun Jin Sun | 2024 | Acta Pharmaceutica Sinica B2024,14,3: | 0
The origin and evolution of carpels and fruits from an evo-devo perspective显示文摘The flower is an evolutionary innovation in angiosperms that drives the evolution of biodiversity. The carpel is integral to a flower and develops into fruits after fertilization, while the perianth, consisting of the calyx and corolla,is decorative to facilitate pollination and protect the internal organs, including the carpels and stamens. Therefore, the nature of flower origin is carpel and stamen origin, which represents one of the greatest and fundamental unresolved issues in plant evolutionary biology. Here,we briefly summarize the main progress and key genes identified for understanding floral development, focusing on the origin and development of the carpels.Floral ABC models have played pioneering roles in elucidating flower development, but remain insufficient for resolving flower and carpel origin. The genetic basis for carpel origin and subsequent diversification leading to fruit diversity also remains elusive.Based on current research progress and technological advances, simplified floral models and integrative evolutionary-developmental(evodevo)strategies are proposed for elucidating the genetics of carpel origin and fruit evolution.Stepwise birth of a few master regulatory genes and subsequent functional diversification might play a pivotal role in these evolutionary processes.Among the identified transcription factors,AGAMOUS(AG)and CRABS CLAW(CRC)may be the two core regulatory genes for carpel origin as they determine carpel organ identity, determinacy, and functionality. Therefore,a comparative identification of their protein-protein interactions and downstream target genes between flowering and non-flowering plants from an evo-devo perspective may be primary projects for elucidating carpel origin and development. | Hongyan Liu Jun Li Pichang Gong Chaoying He | 2023 | Journal of Integrative Plant Biology2023,65,2: | 0

Titanium(Ⅳ) isopropoxide [Ti(Oi-Pr)4] plays a key role during the photo cycloaddition, which may help to accelerate the in teraction between dienophile and the stereo-hi ndered diene species as well as control the diastereoselectivity. This photolysis provides a new solution for the stereospecific formation core structures of aromatic abietane diterpenoids and sesquiterpenoids, which have multiple functional groups for the further transformations. As a synthetic application, it was successfully used in the synthesis of indolosesquiterpenoid mycoleptodiscin A. | Dongsheng Xue Mengmeng Xu Chaoying Zheng Baochao Yang Min Hou Haibing He Shuanhu Gao | 2019 | Chinese Journal of Chemistry2019,37,2: | 0 |
