1In vivo theranostics with near-infraredemitting carbon dots—highly efficient photothermal therapy based on passive targeting after intravenous administration显示文摘Carbon dots that exhibit near-infrared fluorescence(NIR CDs)are considered emerging nanomaterials for advanced biomedical applications with low toxicity and superior photostability and targeting compared to currently used photoluminescence agents.Despite progress in the synthesis of NIR CDs,there remains a key obstacle to using them as an in vivo theranostic agent.This work demonstrates that the newly developed sulfur and nitrogen codoped NIR CDs are highly efficient in photothermal therapy(PTT)in mouse models(conversion efficiency of 59%)and can be readily visualized by photoluminescence and photoacoustic imaging.The real theranostic potential of NIR CDs is enhanced by their unique biodistribution and targeting.Contrary to all other nanomaterials that have been tested in biomedicine,they are excreted through the body’s renal filtration system.Moreover,after intravenous injection,NIR CDs are accumulated in tumor tissue via passive targeting,without any active species such as antibodies.Due to their accumulation in tumor tissue without the need for intratumor injection,high photothermal conversion,excellent optical and photoacoustic imaging performance,and renal excretion,the developed CDs are suitable for transfer to clinical biomedical practice.Xin Bao Ye Yuan Jingqin Chen Bohan Zhang Di Li Ding Zhou Pengtao Jing Guiying Xu Yingli Wang Kateřina Holá Dezhen Shen Changfeng Wu Liang Song Chengbo Liu Radek Zbořil Songnan Qu 2018Light(Science & Applications)2018,7,1:13
2The 600-mm precipitation isoline distinguishes tree-ring-width responses to climate in China显示文摘The numerous temperature and precipitation reconstructions in China based on tree-ring-width data have played significant roles in furthering the understanding of past climate changes. However, the geographical variability in the responses of trees to climate variations in China remains largely undetermined. Here, we describe an important spatial boundary in the response of trees to climate variations, namely the 600-mm annual precipitation isoline. We found that, to the north of this line, tree-ring widths are usually positively correlated with precipitation and negatively correlated with growing-season temperature. To the south of this line, the tree-ring widths respond positively to temperature, and winter half-year temperatures are the main reconstructed parameters, especially on the third topographical step of China. We also found that precipitation reconstructions based on tree-ring data and the Palmer Drought Severity Index almost exclusively fall in the region of the 200- to 600-mm annual precipitation isolines, not other regions. 3Corrosion behavior of Al_(0.4)CoCu_(0.6)NiSi_(0.2)Ti_(0.25) high-entropy alloy coating via 3D printing laser cladding in a sulphur environment显示文摘High-entropy alloys(HEAs) are of great interest in materials science and engineering communities owing to their unique phase structure.HEAs are constructed with five or more principal alloying elements in equimolar or near-equimolar ratios.Therefore,they can derive their performance from multiple principal elements ratherthan a single element.In this work,three-dimensional printing laser cladding was applied to produce an Al_(0.4)CoCu_(0.6)NiSi_(0.2)Ti_(0.25) HEA coating.The experimental results confirmed that the laser cladding could be used to produce a thin coating of 120 μm in thickness.In the high-temperature laser cladding process,some Fe elements diffused from the substrate to the coating,forming a combination of face-centred cubic and body-centred cubic phase structures.The HEA coating metallurgically bonded well with the substrate.Owing to the increased dislocation density and number of grain boundaries,the HEA coating was harder and had a stronger hydrophobicity than X70 steel.The electrochemistry results showed that the HEA coating had better corrosion resistance than X70 steel.Aluminium oxides formed on the surface of the HEA coating had a certain protective effect.However,because of the laser cladding,the HEA coating generated cracks.In future work,the laser cladding technology will be improved and heat treatment will be implemented to prevent formation of cracks.Hongxia Wan Dongdong Song Xiaolei Shi Yong Cai Tingting Li Changfeng Chen 2021Journal of Materials Science & Technology2021,,1:6
4SETD8 induces stemness and epithelial–mesenchymal transition of pancreatic cancer cells by regulating ROR1 expression显示文摘Pancreatic cancer(PC)is one of the most deadly diseases,and its incidence is increasing year by year.The methyltransferase SETD8 has been demonstrated to play an important role in tumor cell proliferation and metastasis.However,little is known about whether SETD8 could affect the invasion and metastasis of PC and the mechanism underlying the regulation.Based on our previous report,here,we further found that SETD8 could promote the invasion and migration of PC cells by inducing the expression of receptor tyrosine kinase-like orphan receptor 1(ROR1).ROR1 was predominantly upregulated in PC tissues and was correlated with lymph node metastasis and worse prognosis.Mechanistically,SETD8 mediated ROR1 activity and regulated PC cells invasion and migration,although promoting the expression of stemness and epithelial–mesenchymal transition-related molecules.This promotion effect disappeared when the catalytically inactive mutant SETD8 was overexpressed,which could be counteracted by the SETD8-specific methyltransferase inhibitor UNC0379.Collectively,our results demonstrate that SETD8 may be a novel prognostic factor and a therapeutic target of PC.Mengqi Liu Yihua Shi Qiangsheng Hu Yi Qin Shunrong Ji Wensheng Liu Qifeng Zhuo Guixiong Fan Zeng Ye Changfeng Song Xianjun Yu Xiaowu Xu Wenyan Xu 2021Acta Biochimica et Biophysica Sinica2021,53,12:2

6An Upwind Mixed Volume Element-Fractional Step Method on a Changing Mesh for Compressible Contamination Treatment from Nuclear Waste显示文摘In this paper the authors discuss the numerical simulation problem of threedimensional compressible contamination treatment from nuclear waste.The mathematical model is defined by an initial-boundary nonlinear convection-diffusion system of four partial differential equations:a parabolic equation for the pressure,two convection-diffusion equations for the concentrations of brine and radionuclide and a heat conduction equation for the temperature.The pressure appears within the concentration equations and heat conduction equation,and the Darcy velocity controls the concentrations and the temperature.The pressure is solved by the conservative mixed volume element method,and the order of the accuracy is improved by the Darcy velocity.The concentration of brine and temperature are computed by the upwind mixed volume element method on a changing mesh,where the diffusion is discretized by a mixed volume element and the convection is treated by an upwind scheme.The composite method can solve the convection-dominated diffusion problems well because it eliminates numerical dispersion and nonphysical oscillation and has high order computational accuracy.The mixed volume element has the local conservation of mass and energy,and it can obtain the brine and temperature and their adjoint vector functions simultaneously.The conservation nature plays an important role in numerical simulation of underground fluid.The concentrations of radionuclide factors are solved by the method of upwind fractional step difference and the computational work is decreased by decomposing a three-dimensional problem into three successive one-dimensional problems and using the method of speedup.By the theory and technique of a priori estimates of differential equations,we derive an optimal order result in L^(2) norm.Numerical examples are given to show the effectiveness and practicability and the composite method is testified as a powerful tool to solve the well-known actual problem.Changfeng Li Yirang Yuan Huailing Song 2018Advances in Applied Mathematics and Mechanics2018,10,6:1

8A comparative study of preventing postoperative tendon adhesion using electrospun polyester membranes with different degradation kinetics显示文摘Complications arising from tendon injury include tendon sheath infection and peritendinous adhesion, in which tendon adhesion often leads to serious motor dysfunction. In this work, the electrospun membranes of poly(L-lactide)(PLA) and poly(ε-caprolactone)(PCL) with different degradation kinetics were used to investigate their efficacy for anti-adhesion toward Achilles tendon repair. Compared with the PCL membrane, the PLA sample showed a faster rate of degradation in 42 d, and all the degradation media(i.e., phosphate-buffered saline) maintained at a constant p H of around 7.4. Meanwhile, the superior biocompatibility of both the PLA and PCL membranes were proved by the in vitro cellular adhesion tests and in vivo histopathological assays. Simultaneously, the PLA membrane was more effective than the PCL sample in decreasing adhesion and promoting functional recovery. Furthermore, the experiment result was further confirmed by hematoxylin-eosin and Masson's trichrome staining, and type I collagen immunohistochemical analysis. All results revealed that the model treated with the electrospun PLA membrane was obviously better with regard to both anti-adhesion and tendon repair than that in the PCL membrane group. 10AConservative Upwind Approximation on Block-Centered Difference for Chemical Oil Recovery Displacement Problem显示文摘A kind of conservative upwind method is discussed for chemical oil recovery displacement in porous media.The mathematical model is formulated by a nonlinear convection-diffusion system dependent on the pressure,Darcy velocity,concentration and saturations.The flow equation is solved by a conservative block-centered method,and the pressure and Darcy velocity are obtained at the same time.The concentration and saturations are determined by convection-dominated diffusion equations,so an upwind approximation is adopted to eliminate numerical dispersion and nonphysical oscillation.Block-centered method is conservative locally.An upwind method with block-centered difference is used for computing the concentration.The saturations of different components are solved by the method of upwind fractional step difference,and the computational work is shortened significantly by dividing a three-dimensional problem into three successive one-dimensional problems and using the method of speedup.Using the variation discussion,energy estimates,the method of duality,and the theory of a priori estimates,we complete numerical analysis.Finally,numerical tests are given for showing the computational accuracy,efficiency and practicability of our approach.Changfeng Li Yirang Yuan Aijie Cheng Huailing Song 2022Advances in Applied Mathematics and Mechanics2022,14,6:0
