1Global Optimization of Nonlinear Blend-Scheduling Problems显示文摘The scheduling of gasoline-blending operations is an important problem in the oil refining industry. Thisproblem not only exhibits the combinatorial nature that is intrinsic to scheduling problems, but alsonon-convex nonlinear behavior, due to the blending of various materials with different quality properties.In this work, a global optimization algorithm is proposed to solve a previously published continuous-timemixed-integer nonlinear scheduling model for gasoline blending. The model includes blend recipe optimi-zation, the distribution problem, and several important operational features and constraints. The algorithmemploys piecewise McCormick relaxation (PMCR) and normalized multiparametric disaggregation tech-nique (NMDT) to compute estimates of the global optimum. These techniques partition the domain of oneof the variables in a bilinear term and generate convex relaxations for each partition. By increasing the num-ber of partitions and reducing the domain of the variables, the algorithm is able to refine the estimates ofthe global solution. The algorithm is compared to two commercial global solvers and two heuristic methodsby solving four examples from the literature. 2Impact of crude distillation unit model accuracy on refinery production planning显示文摘In this work, we examine the impact of crude distillation unit(CDU) model errors on the results of refinery-wide optimization for production planning or feedstock selection. We compare the swing cut + bias CDU model with a recently developed hybrid CDU model(Fu et al., 2016). The hybrid CDU model computes material and energy balances, as well as product true boiling point(TBP) curves and bulk properties(e.g., sulfur% and cetane index, and other properties). Product TBP curves are predicted with an average error of 0.5% against rigorous simulation curves. Case studies of optimal operation computed using a planning model that is based on the swing cut + bias CDU model and using a planning model that incorporates the hybrid CDU model are presented. 15Gender differences related to the presence of atrial fibrillation in older hypertensive patients显示文摘AIM: To determine whether there are gender differences in the epidemiological profile of atrial fibrillation (AF) and to characterise the clinical, biochemical, and therapeutic factors associated with AF. METHODS: Each investigator (primary care physicians or physicians based in hospital units for hypertension treatment) recruited the first 3 patients with an age of ≥ 65 years and a clinical diagnosis of hypertension (ambulatory blood pressure monitoring and an electrocardiogram, were performed) on the first working day of the week for 5 wk and identified those individu-als with atrial fibrillation. A binary logistic regression was performed, including all of the variables that were significant in the univariate analysis, to establish the variables that were associated with the presence of arrhythmia. RESULTS: A total of 1028 patients were included in the study, with a mean age of 72.8 ± 5.8 years. Of these patients, 47.3% were male, 9% were smokers, 27.6% were diabetics, 48.3% had dyslipidaemia, 10.9% had angina, and 6.5% had experienced a myocardial infarction. Regarding gender differences, the men exhibited a larger waist circumference, a lower body mass index, less obesity, and a more extensive history of diabetes, smoking, ischaemic heart disease, kidney failure, peripheral arterial disease and carotid disease than the women. There were no differences, however, in the prevalence of AF between the men and the women (11.5% vs 9.2%, respectively; P = no significant). Regarding treatment, the women received antiplatelet agents and diuretics less frequently, but there were no other differences in the use of antihypertensive and antithrombotic therapies. In the multivariate analysis, AF in the total study population was associated with age, alcohol consumption, the presence of heart disease, and decreased glomerular filtration. In the women, AF was associated with all of the factors included in the overall analysis, as well as the presence of left ventricle hypertrophy. In contrast, in the men, the only risk factors associated with AF were age, the presence of heart disease and alcohol consumption. 16Optimization of the Production of Biogas in Anaerobic Digestion by the Addition of Hydrolytic Microorganisms显示文摘It is well known that fossil fuels are one of the major pollutants that contribute to climate change and there is a need to develop alternatives to their uses.One option is the use of a renewable fuel such as biogas obtained from the breaking down of organic matter in the anaerobic digestion process.When biogas is cleaned up to a certain quality,it can substitute the use of natural gas.However,this slow process requires optimization to increase the amount of gas.There are chemical,physical and biological treatments for organic matter to increase the amount and quality of biogas.In the former research,a biological treatment was tested by adding a selection of microorganisms that showed hydrolytic activity to an anaerobic digester for its optimization.First,a selection of microorganisms with the ability to grow in fresh sewage sludge as only nutrient was selected.Then,the lipolytic,cellulolytic and PA(Proteolytic Activity)of microorganisms was tested using selective growth media.Finally,10 samples with the greatest hydrolytic activity were used to evaluate their effects in the increasing of biogas production in the anaerobic process.The results showed that 83%of the microorganisms with the ability to grow in sewage sludge were proteolytic,while the percentage of lipolytic and cellulolytic microorganisms was smaller.Furthermore,it was found that proteolytic microorganisms are the ones that increase biogas yield in a maximum of 80%with a COD(Chemical Oxygen Demand)reduction of 58%.María Montes Melissa Cervantes Alejandra Vásquez Víctor Aguilar Pedro García Isabel Del Castillo 2022Journal of Environmental Science and Engineering(A)2022,11,1:0
17Nodal involvement and p16-staining in upper alveolar ridge and hard palate cancer显示文摘Aim:Upper alveolar ridge and hard palate squamous cancer is an infrequent malignancy.We evaluated factors associated with neck involvement and with p16-staining.Methods:Head and neck squamous-cell carcinoma(SCC)patients who went to Head and Neck Department between 1997 and 2011 were screened,and 73 resected upper alveolar ridge and 5 hard palate SCC were selected.Tumors with available tissue were stained with p16 immunohistochemistry.Results:Median age was 64.4 years,55.1%were female,and 73.1%were in clinical stage IV.Neck dissections were performed in 24 and pathologically confirmed node metastases were found in 19(24.3%).Cervical recurrence was found in 18 patients(23.1%)and was associated with histological grade(P=0.037).Three(7.3%)of 41 lesions were positive for p16 and tended to be younger(P=0.067).Lymphovascular invasion was associated with shorter disease-free survival(DFS)(P=0.026)and overall survival(OS)(P=0.021).Larger cT(P=0.019),perineural invasion(P=0.039)and neck dissection(P=0.010)were associated with shorter OS.Neck node involvement tended to have shorter DFS(31%vs.48.7%,P=0.278)and OS(25.1%vs.48.5%,P=0.340),and neck recurrence tended to have shorter OS(9.3%vs.52.3%,P=0.064).Conclusion:Neck involvement and recurrence are frequent in this location.P16-positive cases were present in 7.3%and tended to be associated with younger age.Edgar Salas Pedro Sanchez Juan Postigo Carlos A.Castaneda Miluska Castillo Valeria Villegas Luis Cano Sandro Casavilca Luis A.Bernabe Carolina Belmar Maria R.Villa-Robles Raul Mantilla Henry Guerra 2018Journal of Cancer Metastasis and Treatment2018,4,1:0
