1Adsorption and desorption characteristics of diphenylarsenicals in two contrasting soils显示文摘Diphenylarsinic acid(DPAA) is formed during the leakage of aromatic arsenic chemical weapons in soils,is persistent in nature,and results in arsenic contamination in the field.The adsorption and desorption characteristics of DPAA were investigated in two typical Chinese soils,an Acrisol(a variable-charge soil) and a Phaeozem(a constant-charge soil).Their thermodynamics and some of the factors influencing them(i.e.,initial pH value,ionic strength and phosphate) were also evaluated using the batch method in order to understand the environmental fate of DPAA in soils.The results indicate that Acrisol had a stronger adsorption capacity for DPAA than Phaeozem.Soil DPAA adsorption was a spontaneous and endothermic process and the amount of DPAA adsorbed was affected significantly by variation in soil pH and phosphate.In contrast,soil organic matter and ionic strength had no significant effect on adsorption.This suggests that DPAA adsorption may be due to specific adsorption on soil mineral surfaces.Therefore,monitoring the fate of DPAA in soils is recommended in areas contaminated by leakage from chemical weapons.Anan Wang Shixin Li Ying Teng Wuxin Liu Longhua Wu Haibo Zhang Yujuan Huang Yongming Luo Peter Christie 2013Journal of Environmental Sciences2013,25,6:8
2Adsorption of benzonitrile at the air/water interface studied by sum frequency generation spectroscopy显示文摘In this investigation, the adsorption of benzonitrile at the air/water interface was addressed using vibrational sum-frequency spectroscopy. Using ppp and ssp polarization combinations, the authors detected the symmetric stretching mode of the cyano (CN) group and calculated the orientation of benzonitrile at the interface. In addition, the adsorption isotherm was determined in terms of the hyperpolarizability element by varying the bulk benzonitrile concentration. The adsorption energy was obtained from fitting this isotherm. 3Plasticity of Sniffing Pattern and Neural Activity in the Olfactory Bulb of Behaving Mice During Odor Sampling,Anticipation,and Reward显示文摘The olfactory bulb(OB) is the first relay station in the olfactory system.In the OB,mitral/tufted cells(M/Ts),which are the main output neurons,play important roles in the processing and representation of odor information.Recent studies focusing on the function of M/Ts at the single-cell level in awake behaving mice have demonstrated that odor-evoked firing of single M/Ts displays transient/long-term plasticity during learning.Here,we tested whether the neural activity of M/Ts and sniffing patterns are dependent on anticipation and reward in awake behaving mice.We used an odor discrimination task combined with in vivo electrophysiological recordings in awake,head-fixed mice,and found that,while learning induced plasticity of spikes and beta oscillations during odor sampling,we also found plasticity of spikes,beta oscillation,sniffing pattern,and coherence between sniffing and theta oscillations during the periods of anticipation and/or reward.These results indicate that the activity of M/Ts plays important roles not only in odor representation but also in salience-related events such as anticipation and reward.Penglai Liu Tiantian Cao Jinshan Xu Xingfeng Mao Dejuan Wang Anan Li 2020Neuroscience Bulletin2020,36,6:2

11Multi-modal Correlated Network for emotion recognition in speech显示文摘With the growing demand of automatic emotion recognition system,emotion recognition is becoming more and more crucial for human-computer interaction(HCI)research.Recently,there is a continuous improvement in the performance of automatic emotion recognition due to the development of both hardware and deep learning methods.However,because of the abstract concept and multiple expressions of emotion,automatic emotion recognition is still a challenging task.In this paper,we propose a novel Multi-modal Correlated Network for emotion recognition aiming at exploiting the information from both audio and visual channels to achieve more robust and accurate detection.In the proposed method,the audio signals and visual signals are first preprocessed for the feature extraction.After preprocessing,we obtain the Mel-spectrograms,which can be treated as images,and the representative frames from visual segments.Then the Mel-spectrograms are fed to the convolutional neural network(CNN)to get the audio features and the representative frames are fed to the CNN and LSTM to get features.Specially,we employ the triplet loss to increase the differentiation of inter-class.Meanwhile,we propose a novel correlated loss to reduce the differentiation of intra-class.Finally,we apply the feature fusion method to fuse the audio and visual feature for emotion recognition classification.The experimental result on AEFW dataset demonstrates the correlation information of multiple modals is crucial for automatic emotion recognition and the proposed method can achieve the state-of-the-art performance on the classification task.Minjie Ren Weizhi Nie Anan Liu Yuting Su 2019Visual Informatics2019,3,3:1

13Pancreatic head cancer with gastrointestinal bleeding as the initial manifestation:a case report and literature review显示文摘Gastrointestinal bleeding(GIB)as the initial symptom is rare in patients with pancreatic cancer,which is prone to misdiagnosis and should be paid attention to by clinicians.Here,we present a patient with pancreatic head cancer whose first symptom was only severe upper gastrointestinal bleeding,which initially led to misdiagnosis.However,subsequent imaging revealed a mass in the pancreatic head which was considered a malignant tumor.After surgical resection,the pathology confirmed that the mass in the pancreatic head was pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma,and the duodenal bulb’s full thickness was infiltrated.A literature review found that pancreatic cancer can present gastrointestinal bleeding by invading the digestive tract and blood vessels,left-sided portal hypertension(LSPH),digestive tract metastasis,and canceration of ectopic pancreatic tissue in the digestive tract.For these cases,clinicians should utilize multidisciplinary diagnosis and treatment based on digestive endoscopy,imaging,interventional therapy,and surgery to control bleeding,identify etiology,and remove tumors.Minghui Zheng Zhiping Fu Ting Niu Anan Liu Danlei Chen Junfeng Peng Judong Li Zhiyuan Hao Qingyang Yu Zechao Lyu Chenghao Shao 2023Journal of Pancreatology2023,6,3:0
14Distinct Characteristics of Odor-evoked Calcium and Electrophysiological Signals in Mitral/Tufted Cells in the Mouse Olfactory Bulb显示文摘Fiber photometry is a recently-developed method that indirectly measures neural activity by monitoring Ca^(2+)signals in genetically-identified neuronal populations.Although fiber photometry is widely used in neuroscience research,the relationship between the recorded Ca^(2+)signals and direct electrophysiological measurements of neural activity remains elusive.Here,we simultaneously recorded odor-evoked Ca^(2+)and electrophysiological signals[single-unit spikes and local field potentials(LFPs)]from mitral/tufted cells in the olfactory bulb of awake,head-fixed mice.Odors evoked responses in all types of signal but the response characteristics(e.g.,type of response and time course)differed.The Ca^(2+)signal was correlated most closely with power in theβ-band of the LFP.The Ca^(2+)signal performed slightly better at odor classification than high-γoscillations,worse than single-unit spikes,and similarly toβoscillations.These results provide new information to help researchers select an appropriate method for monitoring neural activity under specific conditions.Han Xu Chi Geng Xinzhong Hua Penglai Liu Jinshan Xu Anan Li 2021Neuroscience Bulletin2021,37,7:0
15Restoration of FMRP expression in adult V1 neurons rescues visual deficits in a mouse model of fragile X syndrome显示文摘Many people affected by fragile X syndrome(FXS)and autism spectrum disorders have sensory processing deficits,such as hypersensitivity to auditory,tactile,and visual stimuli.Like FXS in humans,loss of Fmr1 in rodents also cause sensory,behavioral,and cognitive deficits.However,the neural mechanisms underlying sensory impairment,especially vision impairment,remain unclear.It remains elusive whether the visual processing deficits originate from corrupted inputs,impaired perception in the primary sensory cortex,or altered integration in the higher cortex,and there is no effective treatment.In this study,we used a genetic knockout mouse model(Fmr1^(KO)),in vivo imaging,and behavioral measurements to show that the loss of Fmr1 impaired signal processing in the primary visual cortex(V1).Specifically,Fmr1^(KO) mice showed enhanced responses to low-intensity stimuli but normal responses to high-intensity stimuli.This abnormality was accompanied by enhancements in local network connectivity in V1 microcircuits and increased dendritic complexity of V1 neurons.These effects were ameliorated by the acute application of GABAA receptor activators,which enhanced the activity of inhibitory neurons,or by reintroducing Fmr1 gene expression in knockout V1 neurons in both juvenile and young-adult mice.Overall,V1 plays an important role in the visual abnormalities of Fmr1^(KO) mice and it could be possible to rescue the sensory disturbances in developed FXS and autism patients.Chaojuan Yang Yonglu Tian Feng Su Yangzhen Wang Mengna Liu Hongyi Wang Yaxuan Cui Peijiang Yuan Xiangning Li Anan Li Hui Gong Qingming Luo Desheng Zhu Peng Cao Yunbo Liu Xunli Wang Min-hua Luo Fuqiang Xu Wei Xiong Liecheng Wang Xiang-yao Li Chen Zhang 2022Protein & Cell2022,13,3:0
16A novel odor stimulation system in freely moving,behaving animals显示文摘Precise and reliable presentation of odorants to animals is crucial for olfactory studies.Although odor stimulation systems in anesthetized or awake,head-fixed animals are well established,temporally precise odor presentation in awake,freely moving animals remains a challenge.Here,we describe a new odor stimulation system which presents odors directly to the nostrils of freely moving mice.The system comprises 3 modules:an odor-delivery module,an odor-generation module,and a control module.The new system is precise and temporally reliable,and odor stimulation can be triggered by specific sniffing phases or other events.Moreover,the system can be combined with neural recordings,such as electrophysiology,and olfactory behavioral tests to investigate how neurons in the brain represent odor information during individual olfactory behaviors.This innovative odor stimulation system may replace traditional stimulation systems:It will enable precise odor presentation in a wide range of olfactory studies in freely moving animals.Xinsong GUO Shan LI Xuejie YU Tingting WU Penglai LIU Yufeng SHAO Anan LI 2023Integrative Zoology2023,18,4:0
