1The HuangZaoSi Maize Genome Provides Insights into Genomic Variation and Improvement History of Maize显示文摘Maize is a globally important crop that was a classic model plant for genetic studies. Here, we report a 2.2 Gb draft genome sequence of an elite maize line, HuangZaoSi (HZS). Hybrids bred from HZS-improved lines (HILs) are planted in more than 60% of maize fields in China. Proteome clustering of six completed sequeneed maize genomes show that 638 proteins fall into 264 HZS-specific gene families with the majority of contributions from tandem duplication events. Resequencing and comparative analysis of 40 HZSrelated lines reveals the breeding history of HILs. More than 60% of identified selective sweeps were clustered in identity.by.descent conserved regions, and yield-related genes/QTLs were enriched in HZS characteristic selected regions. Furthermore, we dem on strated that HZS-specific family genes were not uniformly distributed in the genome but enriched in improvement/function.related genomic regions. 2Sialic acid-binding immunoglobulin-like lectin 9 as a potential therapeutic target for chronic obstructive pulmonary disease显示文摘Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease(COPD)has become the third-leading cause of death worldwide,which is a severe economic burden to the healthcare system.Chronic bronchitis is the most common condition that contributes to COPD,both locally and systemically.Neutrophilic inflammation predominates in the COPD airway wall and lumen.Logically,repression of neutrophilia is an essential fashion to COPD treatment.However,currently available anti-neutrophilic therapies provide little benefit in COPD patients and may have serious side effects.Thus,there is an urgent need to explore an effective and safe anti-neutrophilic approach that might delay progression of the disease.Sialic acid-binding immunoglobulin-like lectin(Siglec)-9 is a member of the Siglec cell surface immunoglobulin family.It is noteworthy that Siglec-9 is highly expressed on human neutrophils and monocytes.Ligation of Siglec-9 by chemical compounds or synthetic ligands induced apoptosis and autophagic-like cell death in human neutrophils.Furthermore,administration of antibody to Siglec-E,mouse functional ortholog of Siglec-9,restrained recruitment and activation of neutrophils in mouse models of airway inflammation in vivo.Given the critical role that neutrophils play in chronic bronchitis and emphysema,targeting Siglec-9 could be beneficial for the treatment of COPD,asthma,fibrosis,and related chronic inflammatory lung diseases.Zi Chen Shuang-Lan Xu Lin-Yang Ge Jin Zhu Tao Zheng Zhou Zhu Linfu Zhou 2021Chinese Medical Journal2021,,7:5
3Mutations in EZH2 are associated with poor prognosis for patients with myeloid neoplasms显示文摘EZH2 is a component of the polycomb repressive complex 2(PRC2),which is a highly conserved histone methyltransferase that methylates lysine 27 of histone 3.EZH2 mutations are associated with oncogenesis and progression of cancers.However,the relationship between the clinical outcome of patients with myeloid malignancies and EZH2 mutations is controversial.Therefore,we performed a meta-analysis of 8 studies(n Z 2243 patients)that evaluates the correlation between EZH2 mutations and overall survival(OS)in patients with myeloid neoplasms.EZH2 mutations were associated with significantly worse OS(hazard ratio[HR]Z 2.37,95%confidential interval(CI),1.48e3.79).In a word,EZH2 mutations indicate a poor prognosis for patients with myeloid neoplasms.Qi Zhang Qi Han Jie Zi Jinlong Ma Huihui Song Yulu Tian Mary McGrath Chunhua Song Zheng Ge 2019Genes & Diseases2019,6,3:3
4Direct observation of chaotic resonances in optical microcavities显示文摘Optical microcavities play a significant role in the study of classical and quantum chaos.To date,most experimental explorations of their internal wave dynamics have focused on the properties of their inputs and outputs,without directly interrogating the dynamics and the associated mode patterns inside.As a result,this key information is rarely retrieved with certainty,which significantly restricts the verification and understanding of the actual chaotic motion.Here we demonstrate a simple and robust approach to directly and rapidly map the internal mode patterns in chaotic microcavities.By introducing a local index perturbation through a pump laser,we report a spectral response of optical microcavities that is proportional to the internal field distribution.With this technique,chaotic modes with staggered mode spacings can be distinguished.Consequently,a complete chaos assisted tunneling(CAT)and its time-reversed process are experimentally verified in the optical domain with unprecedented certainty.Shuai Wang Shuai Liu Yilin Liu Shumin Xiao Zi Wang Yubin Fan Jiecai Han Li Ge Qinghai Song 2021Light(Science & Applications)2021,10,8:3

8Cloud Radiative Feedbacks during the ENSO Cycle Simulated by CAMS-CSM显示文摘This study evaluated the simulated cloud radiative feedbacks(CRF)during the El Ni?o–Southern Oscillation(ENSO)cycle in the latest version of the Chinese Academy of Meteorological Sciences climate system model(CAMS-CSM).We conducted two experimental model simulations:the Atmospheric Model Intercomparison Project(AMIP),forced by the observed sea surface temperature(SST);and the preindustrial control(PIcontrol),a coupled run without flux correction.We found that both the experiments generally reproduced the observed features of the shortwave and longwave cloud radiative forcing(SWCRF and LWCRF)feedbacks.The AMIP run exhibited better simulation performance in the magnitude and spatial distribution than the PIcontrol run.Furthermore,the simulation biases in SWCRF and LWCRF feedbacks were linked to the biases in the representation of the corresponding total cloud cover and precipitation feedbacks.It is interesting to further find that the simulation bias originating in the atmospheric component was amplified in the PIcontrol run,indicating that the coupling aggravated the simulation bias.Since the PIcontrol run exhibited an apparent mean SST cold bias over the cold tongue,the precipitation response to the SST anomaly(SSTA)changes during the ENSO cycle occurred towards the relatively warmer western equatorial Pacific.Thus,the corresponding cloud cover and CRF shifted westward and showed a weaker magnitude in the PIcontrol run versus observational data.In contrast,the AMIP run was forced by the observational SST,hence representing a more realistic CRF.Our results demonstrate the challenges of simulating CRF in coupled models.This study also underscores the necessity of realistically representing the climatological mean state when simulating CRF during the ENSO cycle.Lin CHEN Lijuan HUA Xinyao RONG Jian LI Lu WANG Guo ZHANG Ming SUN Zi'an GE 2019Journal of Meteorological Research2019,33,4:1
9Combined kinematic and static analysis of an articulated lower limb traction device for a rehabilitation robotic system显示文摘This paper presents a design of an articulated lower limb traction device(ALLTD) with joint torque generators for a cable-driven parallel rehabilitation robotic system(CDPRRS). An earlier version of the ALLTD uses a rigid link to model the lower limbs of a patient. This paper extends this scenario to include articulations in the lower limbs and analyzes the resulting two-link mechanism. Due to the force-displacement coupled structure, the inverse and forward kinematics of the ALLTD model are analyzed in combination with the requirement for static force balance. Examples using the limb parameters of Chinese adults are provided to show the efficacy of our model. 13Efficient utilization of glass fiber separator for low-cost sodium-ion batteries显示文摘The separator is a key component of sodium-ion battery,which greatly affects the electrochemical performances and safety characteristics of the battery.Conventional glass fiber separator cannot meet the requirements of large-scale application because of high cost and poor mechanical properties.Herein,the novel composite separators are prepared by a simple slurry sieving process using glass fiber separator scraps and ordinary qualitative filter paper as raw materials.As the composite mass ratio is 1:1,the composite separator has excellent comprehensive properties,including tensile strength of 15.8 MPa,porosity of 74.3%,ionic conductivity of 1.57×10^(-3)S·cm^(-1)and thermal stability at 210℃.The assembled sodium-ion battery shows superior cycling performance(capacity retention of 94.1%after 500 cycles at 1C)and rate capacity(retention rate of 87.3%at 10C),and it maintains fine interface stability.The above results provide some new ideas for the separator design of high-performance and low-cost sodium-ion batteries.Xiaohang Ma Zhijie Chen Tianwen Zhang Xueqian Zhang Yuan Ma Yanqing Guo Yiyong Wei Mengyuan Ge Zhiguo Hou Zhenfa Zi 2023International Journal of Minerals,Metallurgy and Materials2023,30,10:0
