| 1 | Influence of floc dynamic protection layer on alleviating ultrafiltration membrane fouling induced by humic substances显示文摘Cake layer formation is inevitable over time for ultrafiltration(UF)membrane-based drinking water treatment.Although the cake layer is always considered to cause membrane fouling,it can also act as a'dynamic protection layer',as it further adsorbs pollutants and dramatically reduces their chance of getting to the membrane surface.Here,the UF membrane fouling performance was investigated with pre-deposited loose flocs in the presence of humic acid(HA).The results showed that the floc dynamic protection layer played an important role in removing HA.The higher the solution pH,the more negative the floc charge,resulting in lower HA removal efficiency due to the electrostatic repulsion and large pore size of the floc layer.With decreasing solution pH,a positively charged floc dynamic protection layer was formed,and more HA molecules were adsorbed.The potential reasons were ascribed to the smaller floc size,greater positive charge,and higher roughness of the floc layer.However,similar membrane fouling performance was also observed for the negative and positive floc dynamic protection layers due to their strong looseness characteristics.In addition,the molecular weight(MW)distribution of HA also played an important role in UF membrane fouling behavior.For the small MW HA molecules,the chance of forming a loose cake layer was high with a negatively charged floc dynamic protection layer,while for the large MW HA molecules it was high with a positively charged floc dynamic protection layer.As a result,slight UF membrane fouling was induced. | Baiwen Ma Siqi Wu Bodong Wang Zenglu Qi Yaohui Bai Huijuan Liu Jiuhui Qu Ruijun Wu | 2020 | Journal of Environmental Sciences2020,32,4: | 2 |
| 2 | RhizoVision Crown:An Integrated Hardware and Software Platform for Root Crown Phenotyping显示文摘Root crown phenotyping measures the top portion of crop root systems and can be used for marker-assisted breeding,genetic mapping,and understanding how roots influence soil resource acquisition.Several imaging protocols and image analysis programs exist,but they are not optimized for high-throughput,repeatable,and robust root crown phenotyping.The RhizoVision Crown platform integrates an imaging unit,image capture software,and image analysis software that are optimized for reliable extraction of measurements from large numbers of root crowns.The hardware platform utilizes a backlight and a monochrome machine vision camera to capture root crown silhouettes.The RhizoVision Imager and RhizoVision Analyzer are free,open-source software that streamline image capture and image analysis with intuitive graphical user interfaces.The RhizoVision Analyzer was physically validated using copper wire,and features were extensively validated using 10,464 groundtruth simulated images of dicot and monocot root systems.This platform was then used to phenotype soybean and wheat root crowns.A total of 2,799 soybean(Glycine max)root crowns of 187 lines and 1,753 wheat(Triticum aestivum)root crowns of 186 lines were phenotyped.Principal component analysis indicated similar correlations among features in both species.The maximum heritability was 0.74 in soybean and 0.22 in wheat,indicating that differences in species and populations need to be considered.The integrated RhizoVision Crown platform facilitates high-throughput phenotyping of crop root crowns and sets a standard by which open plant phenotyping platforms can be benchmarked. | Anand Seethepalli Haichao Guo Xiuwei Liu Marcus Griffiths Hussien Almtarfi Zenglu Li Shuyu Liu Alina Zare Felix B.Fritschi Elison B.Blancaflor Xue-Feng Ma Larry M.York | 2020 | Plant Phenomics2020,2,1: | 2 |
| 3 | S100 protein expression during induced Schwann cell-like cell differentiation of rat bone marrow mesenchymal cells in vitro显示文摘BACKGROUND: S100 protein can promote axonal growth. Therefore, transplantation of induced bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) that can secrete S100 may provide a beneficial microenvironment for neural regeneration. OBJECTIVE: To explore the changes in S100 expression during rat MSCs differentiation into Schwann cells in vitro. DESIGN, TIME AND SETTING: This cytology experiment was performed at the Jiangsu Key Laboratory of Neuroregeneration, Nantong University in China, from January 2006 to May 2007. MATERIALS: The rabbit anti-S100 polyclonal antibody was purchased from Dako, Denmark; the mouse anti-rat S100 monoclonal antibody was purchased from Sigma, USA. METHODS: MSCs were cultured from adult Sprague-Dawley rat femur and tibia. Cell proliferation was determined by the MTT method and CD markers, and cell cycle was meas-ured by flow cytometry. MSCs were induced to differentiate into SC cells. SC cells were stained for S100 protein, glial fibrillary acidic protein, and low-affinity nerve growth factor receptor. S100 protein and mRNA levels were evaluated by flow cytometry, Western blot, and reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: S100 protein and mRNA expression. RESULTS: MSCs exhibited high amplification potential over eight passages. Prior to induction, the majority of MSCs were at the G0/G1 phase of the cell cycle. After induction, MSCs displayed morphology changes similar to Schwann cells. Moreover, induction increased S100 mRNA levels. Immunofluorescence showed that MSCs expressed S100 protein, glial fibrillary acidic protein, and low-affinity nerve growth factor receptor at 7 days of induction. Induction also increased S100 protein levels compared with untreated MSCs. | 10 | Comprehensive Assessment and Analysis of National Surface Meteorological Observation Stations: A Case Study of Hebei Province显示文摘With the rapid development of China s economic construction and the rapid advancement of urban-rural integration construction, meteorological detection environment has been damaged repeatedly, which seriously affects the representativeness, accuracy, and comparability of meteorological data, so it is urgent to protect meteorological detection environment. Based on the investigation and evaluation method of detection environment of national ground meteorological observation stations and high-altitude meteorological observation stations, satellite remote sensing data, and climate analysis method, the evaluation method of detection environment and meteorological data was improved to comprehensively assess the detection environment and meteorological data of stations. After the evaluation results were compared with the results of the survey and evaluation in 2013, it is found that the new assessment method maintains the continuity of detection environment assessment and can objectively reflect the changes of the station detection environment. | 11 | Retrieving chlorophyll content and equivalent water thickness of Moso bamboo(Phyllostachys pubescens) forests under Pantana phyllostachysae Chao-induced stress from Sentinel-2A/B images in a multiple LUTs-based PROSAIL framework显示文摘Biochemical components of Moso bamboo(Phyllostachys pubescens)are critical to physiological and ecological processes and play an important role in the material and energy cycles of the ecosystem.The coupled PROSPECT with SAIL(PROSAIL)radiative transfer model is widely used for vegetation biochemical component content inversion.However,the presence of leaf-eating pests,such as Pantana phyllostachysae Chao(PPC),weakens the performance of the model for estimating biochemical components of Moso bamboo and thus must be considered.Therefore,this study considered pest-induced stress signals associated with Sentinel-2A/B images and field data and established multiple sets of biochemical canopy reflectance look-up tables(LUTs)based on the PROSAIL framework by setting different parameter ranges according to infestation levels.Quantitative inversions of leaf area index(LAI),leaf chlorophyll content(LCC),and leaf equivalent water thickness(LEWT)were derived.The scale conversions from LCC to canopy chlorophyll content(CCC)and LEWT to canopy equivalent water thickness(CEWT)were calculated.The results showed that LAI,CCC,and CEWT were inversely related with PPC-induced stress.When applying multiple LUTs,the p-values were<0.01;the R2 values for LAI,CCC,and CEWT were 0.71,0.68,and 0.65 with root mean square error(RMSE)(normalized RMSE,NRMSE)values of 0.38(0.16),17.56μg cm-2(0.20),and 0.02 cm(0.51),respectively.Compared to the values obtained for the traditional PROSAIL model,for October,R2 values increased by 0.05 and 0.10 and NRMSE decreased by 0.09 and 0.02 for CCC and CEWT,respectively and RMSE decreased by 0.35μg cm-2 for CCC.The feasibility of the inverse strategy for integrating pest-induced stress factors into the PROSAIL model,while establishing multiple LUTs under different pest-induced damage levels,was successfully demonstrated and can potentially enhance future vegetation parameter inversion and monitoring of bamboo forest health and ecosystems. | Zhanghua Xu Anqi He Yiwei Zhang Zhenbang Hao Yifan Li Songyang Xiang Bin Li Lingyan Chen Hui Yu Wanling Shen Xuying Huang Xiaoyu Guo Zenglu Li | 2023 | Forest Ecosystems2023,10,2: | 0 |
