1Variation characteristics of heavy metals and nutrients in the core sediments of Taihu Lake and their pollution history显示文摘The sedimentary environment change, trophic evolution and heavy metals pollution history of the northern Taihu Lake in the last 100 years are studied according to the sedimentary geochemical proxies of the core sediments, such as grain size, nutrients, heavy metals, diatom, etc. The nutrients in the sediments depended mainly on the lake internal circulation and the heavy metals were from natural geogenic sources before the 1920s, which were not influenced by human activities generally, and grain size was one of the key factors influencing heavy metals content in the sediments.The alternation of manner and strength of human activities in Taihu Lake catchment before and after the 1920s made the lake sediments coarser, and hence heavy metals and TP content decreased contrasted with that before the 1920s. TP content in sediments and water increased from the 1950s to late 1970s due to anthropogenic pollutants discharge, and the lake belonging to mesotrophic state.TN and TOC content and C/N ratio increased due to the increasing external pollutants into Taihu Lake by human activities, TP content also increased obviously in water and sediments, and the diatom association was dominated by eutrophic species since the late 1970s, indicating the eutrophication state of Taihu Lake in this period. Meanwhile the increasing in heavy metals content, such as Cu, Mn,Ni, Pb and Zn, and their proportion of valid fractions in the sediments indicates that they all result from human pollutants since the late 1970s. 2The enrichment characteristics of mercury in the sediments of Dongjiu and Xijiu, Taihu Lake catchment, in the past century显示文摘The concentration and the enrichment factors of mercury (Hg) in the sediment cores of Dongjiu and Xijiu, Taihu Lake catchment, were studied. The accumulation fluxes, anthropogenic input concentration and anthropogenic accumulation fluxes of Hg in recent 100 years were also analyzed based on the 210Pb dating. The results indicate that the increasing concentrations of Hg in the sediments are influ-enced by natural factors and anthropogenic input simultaneously. Generally, about 2/3 of the Hg in the sediment was from anthropogenic sources. In the early 20th century, the anthropogenic input was owing to the urban development and fossil fuel consumptions surrounding the Taihu Lake and the worldwide atmospheric deposition of Hg since the industrial revolution. The concentration and an-thropogenic fluxes of Hg increased with the industrial development in the catchment since the 1930s. 3Tim-3 promotes cell aggressiveness and paclitaxel resistance through NF-κB/STAT3 signalling pathway in breast cancer cells显示文摘Objective:Although T-cell immunoglobulin and mucin-domain containing molecule-3(Tim-3)has been recognized as a promising target for cancer immunotherapy,its exact role in breast cancer has not been fully elucidated.Methods:Tim-3 gene expression in breast cancer and its prognostic significance were analyzed.Associated mechanisms were then explored in vitro by establishing Tim-3-overexpressing breast cancer cells.Results:In a pooled analysis of The Cancer Genome Atlas(TCGA)database,Tim-3 gene expression levels were significantly higher(P<0.001)in breast cancer tissue,compared with normal tissues.Tim-3 was a prognosis indicator in breast cancer patients[relapse-free survival(RFS),P=0.004;overall survival(OS),P=0.099].Tim-3 overexpression in Tim-3 low breast cancer cells promoted aggressiveness of breast cancer cells,as evidenced by enhanced proliferation,migration,invasion,tight junction deterioration and tumor-associated tubal formation.Tim-3 also enhanced cellular resistance to paclitaxel.Furthermore,Tim-3 exerted its function by activating the NF-κB/STAT3 signalling pathway and by regulating gene expression[cyclin D1(CCND1),C-Myc,matrix metalloproteinase-1(MMP1),TWIST,vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF)upregulation,concomitant with Ecadherin downregulation).Lastly,Tim-3 downregulated tight junction-associated molecules zona occludens(ZO)-2,ZO-1 and occludin,which may further facilitate tumor progression.Conclusions:Tim-3 plays an oncogenic role in breast cancer and may represent a potential target for antitumor therapy.Yizi Cong Yuxin Cui Shiguang Zhu Jianqiao Cao Haidong Zou Tracey AMartin Guangdong Qiao Wenguo Jiang Zhigang Yu 2020Chinese Journal of Cancer Research2020,32,5:7

5Effective and biocompatible antibacterial surfaces via facile synthesis and surface modification of peptide polymers显示文摘It is an urgent need to tackle drug-resistance microbial infections that are associated with implantable biomedical devices.Host defense peptide-mimicking polymers have been actively explored in recent years to fight against drug-resistant microbes.Our recent report on lithium hexamethyldisilazide-initiated superfast polymerization on amino acid N-carboxyanhydrides enables the quick synthesis of host defense peptide-mimicking peptide polymers.Here we reported a facile and cost-effective thermoplastic polyurethane(TPU)surface modification of peptide polymer(DLL:BLG=90:10)using plasma surface activation and substitution reaction between thiol and bromide groups.The peptide polymer-modified TPU surfaces exhibited board-spectrum antibacterial property as well as effective contact-killing ability in vitro.Furthermore,the peptide polymer-modified TPU surfaces showed excellent biocompatibility,displaying no hemolysis and cytotoxicity.In vivo study using methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus(MRSA)for subcutaneous implantation infectious model showed that peptide polymer-modified TPU surfaces revealed obvious suppression of infection and great histocompatibility,compared to bare TPU surfaces.We further explored the antimicrobial mechanism of the peptide polymer-modified TPU surfaces,which revealed a surface contact-killing mechanism by disrupting the bacterial membrane.These results demonstrated great potential of the peptide-modified TPU surfaces for practical application to combat bacterial infections that are associated with implantable materials and devices.Ziyi Lu Yueming Wu Zihao Cong Yuxin Qian Xue Wu Ning Shao Zhongqian Qiao Haodong Zhang Yunrui She Kang Chen Hengxue Xiang Bin Sun Qian Yu Yuan Yuan Haodong Lin Meifang Zhu Runhui Liu 2021Bioactive Materials2021,6,12:5
6INTERFERENCE BY NON-HOST PLANT ROOTS AND ROOT EXUDATES IN THE INFECTION PROCESSES OF PHYTOPHTHORA NICOTIANAE显示文摘Crop rotations are widely used because they can significantly reduce the incidence of pests and diseases.The interactions between non-host roots and pathogens may be key in the inhibition of soilborne pathogens in crop rotations.Interactions between fennel(Foeniculum vulgare)roots/root exudates and Phytophthora nicotianae were investigated because of the known allelopathy between fennel and tobacco(Nicotiana tabacum).The effects of the key compounds in the fennel rhizosphere on the mycelial growth and zoospore behavior of P.nicotianae were assessed.The roots of fennel attracted P.nicotianae zoospores and inhibited their motility and the germination of cystospores,with some cystospores rupturing.4-ethylacetophenone,vanillin and N-formylpiperidine were consistently identified in the fennel rhizosphere and were found to interfere with the infection of P.nicotianae,especially vanillin.Hyphae treated with these compounds produced more abnormal branches and accumulated reactive oxygen species.These interspecific interactions between non-host roots and pathogens were found to be an important factor in the inhibition by fennel of infection by P.nicotianae.Yuxin YANG He ZHANG Yuting FANG Ying LI Xinyue MEI Huichuan HUANG Fei DU Shusheng ZHU Min YANG Yixiang LIU 2021Frontiers of Agricultural Science and Engineering2021,8,3:3
7Au nanowires with high aspect ratio and atomic shell of Pt-Ru alloy for enhanced methanol oxidation reaction显示文摘The methanol oxidation reaction(MOR)is the limiting half-reaction in direct methanol fuel cell(DMFC).Although Pt is the most active single-metal electrocatalyst for MOR,it is hampered by high cost and CO poisoning.Constructing a Pt or Ru monolayer on a second metal substrate by means of galvanic replacement of underpotentially deposited(UPD)Cu monolayer has been shown as an efficient catalyst design strategy for the electrocatalysis of MOR because of the presumed 100%utilization of atoms and resistance to CO poisoning.Herein,we prepared one-dimensional surface-alloyed electrocatalyst from predominantly(111)faceted Au nanowires with high aspect ratio as the substrate of under-potential deposition.The electrocatalyst comprises a core of the Au nanowire and a shell of catalytically active Pt coated by Ru.Coverage-dependent electro-catalytic activity and stability is demonstrated on the Pt/Ru submonolayers on Au wires for MOR.Among all these catalysts,Au@Pt_(ML)@Ru_(ML)exhibits the best electrocatalytic activity and poisoning tolerance to CO.This presents a viable method for the rational catalyst design for achieving high noble-metal utilization efficiency and high catalytic performance.Xiran Zhu Zheng Hu Ming Huang Yuxin Zhao Jianqiang Qu Shi Hu 2021Chinese Chemical Letters2021,32,6:3
8Fabrication of ZnS/CdS Heterojunction by Using Bimetallic MOFs Template for Photocatalytic Hydrogen Generation显示文摘A new ZnS/CdS heterojunction is constructed through the direct sulfurization of a metal ions exchanged Zn/Cd-MOF precursor(MOF=metal-organic framework material).The composition,structure,morphology,photoabsorption and photoelectric performance of the ZnS/CdS are characterized by powder X-ray diffraction(PXRD),scanning electron microscope(SEM),transmission electron microscope(TEM),diffuse reflection spectrum(DRS),photoelectric current(PEC),electrochemical impedance spectroscopy(El S)and photoluminescence(PL)technologies.Since the metal ions are highly orderly separated by the organic ligands and the inherent porosity of the Zn/Cd-MOF,the as-synthesized ZnS/CdS possesses a large surface area and intimate contact at the heterogeneous interface with uniform ZnS/CdS nanoparticles.The photocatalytic hydrogen evolution activity of the ZnS/CdS is investigated under visible light irradiation(A^420 nm).It exhibits enhanced photocatalytic performance that the optimal ZnS/CdS achieves a maximum average hydrogen production rate of 2348μmol·h^-1 g^-1.A possible electron transfer mechanism is therefore proposed by the analyses of the Mott-Schottky plots.ZHU Yuxin JIANG Xing LIN Lin WANG Shuhua CHEN Chao 2020Chemical Research in Chinese Universities2020,36,6:2
9Effects of AlCoCrFeNiTi high-entropy alloy on microstructure and mechanical properties of pure aluminum显示文摘A new kind of AlCoCrFeNiTi high-entropy alloy(HEA)as a grain refiner was prepared by vacuum arc melting.In this work,the effects of HEA(1.0 wt.%,2.0 wt.%and 3.0 wt.%)on the microstructure and mechanical properties of pure aluminum were studied.The microstructure was characterized and examined by scanning electron microscope(SEM),energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy(EDS),X-ray diffraction(XRD),electron probe micro-analyzer(EPMA)and transmission electron microscopy(TEM)to indicate the refining abilities and mechanism of HEA on pure aluminum.Results show that the addition of HEA refined both the macrostructure and microstructure of pure aluminum.When 1.0 wt.%HEA was added,most coarse columnar grains were refined into equiaxed crystals,and as the amount of HEA increased to 2.0 wt.%and3.0 wt.%,aluminum grains were further refined,and the grain boundaries were nearly indistinguishable.Moreover,the morphology ofα-Al transformed from coarse columnar crystals to equiaxed grains,and the mean size ofα-Al grains decreased from 374μm to 27μm.The Al3Ti,Al3Ni,and nano-phase precipitated from the aluminum alloy with HEA in the solidification.The typical rod-like nano-phases distributed interdendritic regions ofα-Al.The average length of nano-phases is 2568 nm,4372 nm,and 6907 nm and the average diameter is 112 nm,103 nm,and 92 nm when 1.0 wt.%,2.0 wt.%and 3.0 wt.%HEA were added to the pure aluminum,respectively.The ultimate tensile strength(UTS)and yield strength(YS)were improved in all samples,whereas the elongation(El)was decreased with increasing HEA concentration.When 3.0 wt.%HEA was added into the aluminum melt,the UTS was improved by 145.2%from62 MPa to 152 MPa,the YS was increased by 173.8%from 42 MPa to 115 MPa,and the El was decreased by 33.3%from 39%to 26%.Qinglin Li Shang Zhao Xuepeng Bao Yushi Zhang Yuqian Zhu Chuangzao Wang Yefeng Lan Yuxin Zhang Tiandong Xia 2020Journal of Materials Science & Technology2020,52,17:2

11Chip-scale metalens microscope for wide-field and depth-of-field imaging显示文摘Microscopy is very important in research and industry,yet traditional optical microscopy suffers from the limited field-of-view(FOV)and depth-of-field(DOF)in high-resolution imaging.We demonstrate a simultaneous large FOV and DOF microscope imaging technology based on a chip-scale metalens device that is implemented by a SiNxmetalens array with a co-and cross-polarization multiplexed dual-phase design and dispersive spectrum zoom effect.A 4-mm×4-mm FOV is obtained with a resolution of 1.74μm and DOF of200μm within a wavelength range of 450 to 510 nm,which definitely exceeds the performance of traditional microscopes with the same resolution.Moreover,it is realized in a miniaturized compact prototype,showing an overall advantage for portable and convenient microscope technology.Xin Ye Xiao Qian Yuxin Chen Rui Yuan Xingjian Xiao Chen Chen Wei Hu Chunyu Huang Shining Zhu Tao Li 2022Advanced Photonics2022,4,4:2
12Time serial transcriptome reveals Cyp2c29 as a key gene in hepatocellular carcinoma development显示文摘Objective:Hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)is a severely lethal cancer that usually originates from chronic liver injury and inflammation.Although progress on diagnosis and treatment is obvious,the cause of HCC remains unclear.In this study,we sought to determine key genes in HCC development.Methods:To identify key regulators during HCC progression,we performed transcriptome sequencing to obtain time series gene expression data from a mouse model with diethylnitrosamine-induced liver tumors and further verified gene expression and function in vitro and in vivo.Results:Among the differentially expressed genes,Cyp2c29 was continuously downregulated during HCC progression.Overexpression of Cyp2c29 suppressed N F-kB activation and proinflammatory cytokine production by increasing the production o f 14,15-epoxyeicosatrienoic acid in vitro.Furthermore,overexpression of Cyp2c29 in vivo protected against liver inflammation in mouse models of liver injury induced by both acetaminophen and CC14.Two human homologs of mouse Cyp2c29,CYP2C8 and CYP2C9,were found to be downregulated in human HCC progression,and their expression was positively correlated with overall survival in patients with HCC(significance:P=0.046 and 0.0097,respectively).Conclusions:Collectively,through systematic analysis and verification,we determined that C yp2c29 is a novel gene involved in liver injury and inflammation,which may be a potential biomarker for HCC prevention and prognosis determination.Qi Wang Qin Tang Lijun Zhao Qiong Zhang Yuxin Wu Hui Hu Lanlan Liu Xiang Liu Yanhong Zhu Anyuan Guo Xiangliang Yang 2020Cancer Biology & Medicine2020,17,2:2
13Selection of nitrite-degrading and biogenic amine-degrading strains and its involved genes显示文摘Objectives:Accumulation of nitrite and biogenic amines(BAs)in fermented meat products is a matter of public health concern.The study aimed to screen nitrite-degrading and BA-degrading strains from sour porridges and sausages and bacon products in China.Materials and Methods:After screening out 12 strains,the degradation of nitrite,the degradation of BAs,the activities of nitrite-reducing enzymes,and the detection of genes involved in the BAs were assessed by spectrophotometry method with hydrochloric acid naphthalene ethylenediamine,high-performance liquid chromatography,GENMED kit,and polymerase chain reaction,respectively.Results:Pediococcus pentosaceus labelled M SZ12 and M GC 2,Lactobacillus plantarum labelled M SZ22,and Staphylococcus xylosus labelled Y CC 3 were selected.The activity of nitrite-reducing enzyme in M SZ22 was 2.663 units/mg.The degradation rate of total BAs of M SZ22 was 93.24%.The degradation rates of nitrite and BAs of M SZ12 were 86.49%and 37.87%,respectively.The activity of nitrite-reducing enzyme in M SZ12 was up to 1.962 units/mg.M GC 2 showed higher degradation rates of nitrite(89.19%)and Y CC 3 showed higher degradation rates of BAs(36.16%).The genes encoding the multicopper oxidases(suf I/D2EK17)were detected in the four strains,which also did not contain BAs(histidine decarboxylase(hdc),tyrosine decarboxylase(tdc),ornithine decarboxylase(odc),lysine decarboxylase(ldc))formation encoding genes.Conclusion:These four strains(M SZ12,M GC 2,M SZ22,and Y CC 3)are promising candidates to use as starter cultures for nitrite and BAs in fermented sausages.Yuxin Li Zhihui Yu Yingchun Zhu Zhixiang Cao 2020Food Quality and Safety2020,4,4:2

15Metasurface empowered lithium niobate optical phased array with an enlarged field of view显示文摘Integrated optical phased arrays(OPAs) have attracted significant interest to steer laser beams for applications including free-space communications, holography, and light detection and ranging. Although many methods have been proposed to suppress grating lobes, OPAs have also been limited by the trade-off between field of view(FOV)and beamforming efficiency. Here, we propose a metasurface empowered port-selected OPA(POPA), an OPA steered by port selection, which is implemented by an aperiodic waveguide array with an average pitch less than the wavelength and phase controlled by coupling among waveguides. A metasurface layer above the POPA was designed to increase wide FOV steering, aliasing-free by polarization division. As a result, we experimentally demonstrate beam scanning over a ±41.04° × 7.06° FOV. 16Structural insights into secretory immunoglobulin A and its interaction with a pneumococcal adhesin显示文摘Secretory Immunoglobulin A(SIgA)is the most abundant antibody at the mucosal surface.It possesses two additional subunits besides IgA:the joining chain(J-chain)and secretory component(SC).SC is the ectodomain of the polymeric immunoglobulin receptor(pIgR),which functions to transport IgA to the mucosa.How the J-chain and pIgR/SC facilitate the assembly and secretion of SIgA remains incompletely understood.Furthermore,during the infection of Streptococcus pneumoniae,the pneumococcal adhesin SpsA hijacks pIgR/SC and SIgA to gain entry to human cells and evade host defense.How SpsA targets pIgR/SC and SIgA also remains elusive.Here we report a cryo-electron microscopy structure of the Fc region of IgA1(Fcα)in complex with the J-chain and SC(Fcα-J-SC),which reveals the organization principle of SIgA.We also present a structure of Fcα-J-SC complexed with SpsA,which uncovers the specific interactions between SpsA and human pIgR/SC.These results advance the molecular understanding of SIgA and shed light on S.pneumoniae pathogenesis.Yuxin Wang Guopeng Wang Yaxin Li Qinyu Zhu Hao Shen Ning Gao Junyu Xiao 2020Cell Research2020,30,7:1

20Realizing the highly reversible Zn^(2+)and Na^(+) dual ions storage in high-crystallinity nickel hexacyanoferrate microcubes for aqueous zinc-ion batteries显示文摘Prussian blue analogues(PBAs)with the 3D open framework are regarded as promising cathode candidates for aqueous Zinc ion batteries(ZIBs).Among various PBAs,nickel hexacyanoferrate(NiHCF)has attracted considerable attention because of its high operating voltage and economic merit.However,the cyclability of NiHCF is unsatisfactory due to poor structural stability during Zn^(2+) ions insertion/deinsertion.Moreover,the ion storage mechanism of NiHCF in aqueous electrolytes has not been fully revealed yet.Herein,high-crystallinity NiHCF(HC-NiHCF)microcubes with improved structural stability and larger crystal plane spacing are synthesized.For the first time,highly reversible Zn2+ions and Na+ions co-insertion/extraction are achieved for the HC-NiHCF microcubes in mixed aqueous electrolyte,as evidenced by various observations including two separated discharge plateaus and sequential changes of Na 1s and Zn 2p signals in ex-situ X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS).As a result,a high specific capacity of 73.9 mAh g^(−1) is obtained for the HC-NiHCF microcubes at 0.1 A g−1,combined with enhanced cycle stability(75%vs.16.4%)over 1000 cycles at 2 A g^(−1).The reversible Zn^(2+) ions and Na+ions co-insertion in HC-NiHCF microcubes reveals a new ion storage mechanism of Ni-based PBAs in aqueous electrolytes.Kexuan Wang Zhu Xu Heng Li Huibo Wang Mingzheng Ge Jilei Liu Shengwen Li Zekun Hu Mengyu Zhu Yanyan Zhang Yuxin Tang Shi Chen 2023Journal of Materials Science & Technology2023,,33:1
