| 6 | PROGNOSIS OF AGGRADATION IN THE LOWER YELLOW RIVER BY HISTORIC ANALYSIS OF THE MORPHOLOGY OF ITS ABANDONED ANCIENT CHANNEL显示文摘On the basis of analyzing historical records and field data, the process in the formation of longitudinal profile of the ancient Lower Yellow River channel (1194-1855) has been studied. It is found that the process of profile adjustment can be roughly divided into two stages. In the first stage, the river channel adjusts itself by steepening its slope to match the transportation of sediment load. In the second stage, aggradation raises the profile of the entire Lower Yellow River in order to balance the retrogressive effect of the seaward extension of the river mouth. A close relationship can be set up between the profile raising and the river course extension. The profile of the present Lower Yellow River is quite similar to that of the ancient Lower Yellow River channel and has changed little in the last forty years. It is thus concluded that the present Lower Yellow River has now also undergone a second stage of profile adjustment and the seaward extension of the river has become the main cause of the on-going aggradation in the river channel. | 7 | How fertility preservation guidelines have progressed worldwide:Potential implications and inspiration显示文摘To summarize fertility preservation (FP) guidelines and consensus provided by medical facilities worldwide. Five reference databases (PubMed/Embase, China BioMedical Literature Database, ClinicalKey, Wanfang Data, and China Knowledge Resource Integrated) and 7 guideline databases (Guideline International Network, National Collaborating Centre for Women’s and Children’s Health, National Guideline Clearinghouse, The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence, Scottish Intercollegiate Guidelines Network, New Zealand Guideline Group, and Canadian Medical Association infobase) were searched. Official websites of societies were searched to find relevant guidelines and consensus, and guidelines and published systematic reviews and consensus were reviewed from inception through May 2021. A literature search was performed regarding guidance offered in professional facilities, and 304 records (including 4 in Chinese) of existing guidelines for full-text review were found. Moreover, 55 guidelines were identified after a manual search. The literature review demonstrated that FP guidance and options were unevenly distributed worldwide for women who wanted to post-pone pregnancy or had impaired fertility after gonadal toxicity. With promising cancer survival rates and diversified family decisions, more attention should be paid to the improvement and update of accessible guidelines and regulatory infrastructure to inform patients about the available options and empower them to make informed choices. | 8 | Expression of Target Genes in Cumulus Cells Derived from Human Oocytes with and without Blastocyst Formation显示文摘Objective:The transcriptional profile of cumulus cells(CCs)during oocyte maturation provides information for predicting oocyte developmental competence.Our previous study using a mouse model indicated that there were nine different genes related to oocyte development potential expressed in CCs during oocyte maturation.The purpose of this study was to elucidate whether gene expression levels of CCs during oocyte maturation are associated with oocyte developmental competence.Methods:The human CCs collected from each oocyte were divided into two groups after tracking depending on whether or not they developed to the blastocyst stage:(1)the oocytes were developed to blastocyst stage after fertilization(B+)and(2)the oocytes were not developed to blastocyst stage after fertilization(B−).The expression levels of the nine selected genes(ARRB1,ATP2C1,CDH5,CNTNAP1,LGR4,MKLN1,RHOBTB1,SIX2,and SMC2)were examined.CCs were obtained from 29 women who were undergoing intracytoplasmic sperm injection treatment cycles.Quantitative reverse transcriptase-polymerase chain reaction analysis was performed on cumulus masses collected before insemination.Each sample was run three times.Statistically significant differences in mRNA expression of the target genes in independent samples were evaluated by two-tailed Student’s t-test,and P<0.05 was considered significantly different.Results:There were significant differences in the mRNA expression levels of ARRB1(P=0.016),LGR4(P=0.025),and SMC2(P=0.013)between the groups B+and B−.Gene expression of ARRB1,LGR4,and SMC2 in CCs is related to blastocyst development.Conclusions:Analysis of expression of ARRB1,LGR4,and SMC2 genes in CCs as biomarkers may provide predictive information on oocyte developmental competence before insemination and fertilization. | Tuan-Ping Zhou Di Zhang Ling-Bo Cai Yi-Xin Xu Li Shao Kai-Lu Liu Jia-Yin Liu Yu-Gui Cui Ling Wang Ri-Cheng Chian | 2019 | Reproductive and Developmental Medicine2019,3,2: | 0 |
