1Remediation of copper polluted red soils with clay materials显示文摘Attapulgite and montmorillonite were utilized to remediate heavy metal polluted red soils in Guixi City,Jiangxi Province,China.The effects of clay minerals on availability,chemical distribution,and biotoxicity of Cu and Zn were evaluated.The results provided a reference for the rational application of clay materials to remediate heavy metal contaminated soils.From the sorption experiment,the maximum adsorbed Cu 2+ by attapulgite and montmorillonite was 1501 and 3741 mg/kg,respectively.After polluted red soil was amended with attapulgite or montmorillonite and cultured at 30 and 60 days,soil pH increased significantly compared to the control.An 8% increase in the amount of montmorillonite in soil and 30 days incubation decreased acid exchangeable Cu by 24.7% compared to the control red soil.Acid exchangeable Cu decreased with increasing amounts of attapulgite and montmorillonite,with best remediation effect reached at a dose of 8%.Results also showed that the Cu poisoning effect on earthworms was reduced with the addition of attapulgite and montmorillonite.Montmorillonite showed the best effect,with the addition of a 2% dose the mortality of earthworms decreased from 60% to zero compared to the control.Our results indicated that the bioavailability of Cu in soils was reduced more effectively with the application of montmorillonite than attapulgite.Gangya Zhang Yunqing Lin Mingkuang Wang 2011Journal of Environmental Sciences2011,23,3:18

7Stattic sensitizes osteosarcoma cells to epidermal growth factor receptor inhibitors via blocking the interleukin 6-induced STAT3 pathway显示文摘Osteosarcoma(OS),the most common malignant bone tumor with high metastatic potential,frequently affects children and adolescents.Epidermal growth factor receptor(EGFR)-targeted tyrosine kinase inhibitors exhibit encouraging anti-tumor activity for patients with solid tumors,whereas their effects on OS remain controversial.In the present study,we aimed to elucidate the anti-tumor activity of gefitinib for OS,as well as to explore the underlying mechanisms.Gefitinib inhibits cell viability,tumor growth,cell migration,and invasion and promotes cell apoptosis and G1 cycle arrest in OS at a relatively high concentration via suppressing the PI3K/Akt and ERK pathways.However,gefitinib treatment results in the feedback activation of signal transducer and activator of transcription 3(STAT3)induced by interleukin 6(IL-6)secretion.Combined treatment with gefitinib and stattic,an inhibitor for STAT3 phosphorylation,engenders more evident inhibitory effects on cell proliferation,migration,and invasion and promotive effects on cell apoptosis and G1 phase arrest in OS,compared with the single exposure to gefitinib or stattic.Western blot analysis demonstrates that stattic treatment in gefitinib-treated OS abrogates the IL-6-induced STAT3 activation and subsequently further restrains the activities of EGFR,Akt,and ERK pathways in tumor cells.This study confirms that the EGFR inhibitor of gefitinib has moderate anti-tumor effects on OS through IL-6 secretion-mediated STAT3 activation.Additional administration of stattic in EGFR-targeted therapies may contribute to improve the efficacy for OS.Shenglin Wang Yunqing Wang Zhen Huang Hongxiang Wei Xinwen Wang Rongkai Shen Wenbin Lan Guangxian Zhong Jianhua Lin 2021Acta Biochimica et Biophysica Sinica2021,53,12:1
8Regeneration of immunocompetent B lymphopoiesis from pluripotent stem cells guided by transcription factors显示文摘Regeneration of functional B lymphopoiesis from pluripotent stem cells(PSCs)is challenging,and reliable methods have not been developed.Here,we unveiled the guiding role of three essential factors,Lhx2,Hoxa9,and Runx1,the simultaneous expression of which preferentially drives B lineage fate commitment and in vivo B lymphopoiesis using PSCs as a cell source.In the presence of Lhx2,Hoxa9,and Runx1 expression,PSC-derived induced hematopoietic progenitors(iHPCs)immediately gave rise to pro/pre-B cells in recipient bone marrow,which were able to further differentiate into entire B cell lineages,including innate B-1a,B-1b,and marginal zone B cells,as well as adaptive follicular B cells.In particular,the regenerative B cells produced adaptive humoral immune responses,sustained antigen-specific antibody production,and formed immune memory in response to antigen challenges.The regenerative B cells showed natural B cell development patterns of immunoglobulin chain switching and hypermutation via cross-talk with host T follicular helper cells,which eventually formed T cell-dependent humoral responses.This study exhibits de novo evidence that B lymphopoiesis can be regenerated from PSCs via an HSC-independent approach,which provides insights into treating B cell-related deficiencies using PSCs as an unlimited cell resource.Qi Zhang Bingyan Wu Qitong Weng Fangxiao Hu Yunqing Lin Chengxiang Xia Huan Peng Yao Wang Xiaofei Liu Lijuan Liu Jiapin Xiong Yang Geng Yalan Zhao Mengyun Zhang Juan Du Jinyong Wang 2022Cellular & Molecular Immunology2022,19,4:0
9Prenatal Diagnosis of a Giant Epignathus in the Second Trimester and Immediate Successful Management at Birth:A Case Report显示文摘Epignathus is an extremely rare congenital oropharyngeal teratoma.Here,we report a case of epignathus without intracranial extension in a fetus.The mass was first found by ultrasonography at 22 gestational weeks.Serial ultrasound examinations and magnetic resonance imaging confirmed that the fetus had neither central nervous system involvement nor abnormal nose or tooth.The baby was delivered at 37 weeks and six days of gestation via cesarean section set up for ex-utero intrapartum treatment.The postnatal pathologic examination confirmed the presence of mature tissues predominantly containing ectopic central nervous tissue,osseous tissue,and bronchial mucosal tissue.Most cases of epignathus are associated with malformation and death.Ultrasound and magnetic resonance imaging prenatal assessments are very important to facilitate counseling and understand prognosis.In conclusion,the ex-utero intrapartum treatment procedure is a good approach to improve the survival of infants with epignathus.Xiaoyu Hu Yijing Chu Yunqing Chen Min Zhao Xiaofei Wang Lin Xu 2023Maternal-Fetal Medicine2023,5,2:0

11N6-methyladenosine facilitates mitochondrial fusion of colorectal cancer cells via induction of GSH synthesis and stabilization of OPA1 mRNA显示文摘Mitochondria undergo fission and fusion that are critical for cell survival and cancer development,while the regulatory factors for mitochondrial dynamics remain elusive.Herein we found that RNA m^(6)A accelerated mitochondria fusion of colorectal cancer(CRC)cells.Metabolomics analysis and function studies indicated that m^(6)A triggered the generation of glutathione(GSH)via the upregulation of RRM2B-a p53-inducible ribonucleotide reductase subunit with anti-reactive oxygen species potential.This in turn resulted in the mitochondria fusion of CRC cells.Mechanistically,m^(6)A methylation of A1240 at 3'UTR of RRM2B increased its mRNA stability via binding with IGF2BP2.Similarly,m^(6)A methylation of A2212 at the coding sequence(CDS)of OPA1-an essential GTPase protein for mitochondrial inner membrane fusion-also increased mRNA stability and triggered mitochondria fusion.Targeting m^(6)A through the methyltransferase inhibitor STM2457 or the dm^(6)ACRISPR system significantly suppressed mitochondria fusion.In vivo and clinical data confirmed the positive roles of the m^(6)A/mitochondrial dynamics in tumor growth and CRC progression.Collectively,m^(6)A promoted mitochondria fusion via induction of GSH synthesis and OPA1 expression,which facilitated cancer cell growth and CRC development.Jiawang Zhou Haisheng Zhang Ke Zhong Lijun Tao Yu Lin Guoyou Xie Yonghuang Tan You Wu Yunqing Lu Zhuojia Chen Jiexin Li Xin Deng Qin Peng Zigang Li Hongsheng Wang 2024National Science Review2024,11,3:0

13Three Novel Mutations of APC Gene Found in a Chinese Family with Familial Adenomatous Polyposis显示文摘Objective:To identify the causative adenomatous polyposis coli(APC)gene defects associated with a pedigree of familial adenomatous polyposis(FAP).Methods:FAP was diagnosed based on clinical manifestations,family history,as well as endoscopic and pathological examinations.The blood samples of the FAP pedigree members,colonic polyp patients,and normal individuals were collected.Genomic DNA was then extracted from those samples.APC mutation analysis was conducted via direct polymerase chain reaction(PCR)sequencing.Results:Three synonymous mutations and a missense mutation were found:c.5034G>A(p.Glyl678Gly),c.5465T>A(p.Vall 822Asp),c.5880G>A(p.Prol960Pro),and c.5274T>G(p.Serl758Ser)・Among them,the homozygous mutation on APC gene c.5034G>A has been reported,while the other three mutations have not been reported in the Chinese Han population.Individuals with c.5465T>A(p.Vall822ASP)missense mutation eventually suffer from colon cancer and have poor prognosis.We found no mutation in patients with simple intestinal polyp and in normal individuals.In addition,there were homozygous and heterozygous mutations in different patients from the same family.Conclusion:Three new mutations of APC gene were firstly reported in Han population.The missense mutation of c.5465T>A(p.Vall 822Asp)may be the cause of carcinogenesis in this FAP pedigree with poor prognosis.Shujuan Gao Min Lin Yan Jin Zhuona Wang Yunqing Zhu Guisheng Liu Xueyan Guo 2022Journal of Clinical and Nursing Research2022,6,3:0

15An Effective Steganalysis Algorithm for Histogram-Shifting Based Reversible Data Hiding显示文摘To measure the security for hot searched reversible data hiding(RDH)technique,especially for the common-used histogram-shifting based RDH(denoted as HS-RDH),several steganalysis schemes are designed to detect whether some secret data has been hidden in a normal-looking image.However,conventional steganalysis schemes focused on the previous RDH algorithms,i.e.,some early spatial/pixel domain-based histogram-shifting(HS)schemes,which might cause great changes in statistical characteristics and thus be easy to be detected.For recent improved methods,such as some adaptive prediction error(PE)based embedding schemes,those conventional schemes might be invalid,since those adaptive embedding mechanism would effectively reduce the embedding trace and thus increase the difficulty of steganalysis.Therefore,a novel steganalysis method is proposed in this paper to detect recent adaptive RDH schemes and provide a more effective detection tool for RDH.The contributions of this paper could be summarized as follows.(1)By analyzing the characteristics for those adaptive HS-RDH,an effective“flat ground”based detection method is designed to fast identify whether the given image is used to hide secret data;(2)According to the empirical statistical model,double check mechanism is provided to improve the detection accuracy;(3)In addition,to further improve detection ability,some detailed information for secret data,i.e.,its content and embedding location are further estimated.Compared with conventional steganalysis methods,experimental results indicate that our proposed algorithm could achieve a better detection accuracy and meanwhile acquire more detailed information on secret data.Junxiang Wang Lin Huang Ying Zhang Yonghong Zhu Jiangqun Ni Yunqing Shi 2020Computers, Materials & Continua2020,,7:0
