| 1 | Flow Fields with Vortex in a Small Semi-open Axial Fan显示文摘In order to clarify the effect of tip clearance (TC) size on fan performance and the flow field at rotor outlet in asmall semi-open axial fan, the experimental investigation was carried out. The tip diameter of test fan rotor was180mm and test TC sizes were lmm (TC=1mm) and 4mm (TC=4mm). Fan characteristics tests were carried outfor two cases of TC size and three-dimensional velocity fields at rotor outlet were measured using a single slanthot-wire probe at four flow-rate conditions. As a result, it was found that the pressure - flow-rate characteristicscurves for two cases showed almost the same tendency. However, the ensemble averaged velocity profiles alongradial measurement stations of TC=4mm largely changed compared with that of TC=lmm in cases of smallflow-rate condition. From the phase-locked averaging results, it was also found that the vortex existed in the rotoroutlet flow field of high flow-rate condition for each TC case. | 2 | Effect of Rotational Speed on the Stability of Two Rotating Side-by-side Circular Cylinders at Low Reynolds Number显示文摘Flow around two rotating side-by-side circular cylinders of equal diameter D is numerically studied at the Reynolds number 40≤ Re ≤200 and various rotation rate θ_i. The incoming flow is assumed to be two-dimensional laminar flow. The governing equations are the incompressible Navier-Stokes equations and solved by the finite volume method(FVM). The ratio of the center-to-center spacing to the cylinder diameter is T/D=2. The objective of the present work is to investigate the effect of rotational speed and Reynolds number on the stability of the flow.The simulation results are compared with the experimental data and a good agreement is achieved. The stability of the flow is analyzed by using the energy gradient theory, which produces the energy gradient function K to identify the region where the flow is the most prone to be destabilized and the degree of the destabilization. Numerical results reveal that K is the most significant at the separated shear layers of the cylinder pair. | 5 | Comparison of Performances of Turbines for Wave Energy Conversion显示文摘The Wells turbine for a wave power generator is a self-rectifying air turbine that is available for an energy conversion in an oscillating water-air column without any rectifying valve. The objective of this paper is to compare the performances of the Wells turbines in which the profile of blade are NACA0020, NACA0015, CA9 and HSIM15-262123-1576 in the small-scale model testing. The running characteristics in the steady flow, the start and running characteristics in the sinusoidal flow and the hysteretic characteristics in the sinusoidal flow were investigated for four kinds of turbine. | 6 | Unsteady Flow at Low Flow-rate Region in a Semi-open Propeller Fan (Velocity Fluctuation outside of Blade Tip)显示文摘In order to clarify the unsteady flow fields at low flow-rate region with positive gradient on pressure-flow-rate curve,the experimental investigation was carried out at rotor inlet and outside of rotor blade tip without casing in a semi-opened propeller fan using a hot-wire anemometer.A single I-type hot-wire probe was used,and the data obtained were processed by the use of phase-locked averaging,ensemble averaging and FFT analyzing.The flow fields at rotor inlet and outside of rotor blade tip were discussed mainly using the results from distributions of velocity fluctuations and power spectrum density.It was found from these results that there are the two types of different periodical fluctuations and both of those frequencies were not the same of rotor rotating frequency(RRF;15Hz).One was observed at relatively high flow-rate region at relatively downstream area in measurement and its frequency was approximately 7Hz(47% of RRF).The other was observed at relatively low flow-rate region at relatively upstream area in measurement and its frequency was approximately 10Hz(67% of RRF)'.As the velocity fluctuations with the flow fields are rapidly increased by the former fluctuation,it is thought that its fluctuation is the trigger of blade stall. | Norimasa SHIOMI Yoichi KINOUE Toshiaki SETOGUCHI | 2011 | Journal of Thermal Science2011,20,3: | 0 |
