| 1 | HBsAg, HBcAg, and combined HBsAg/HBcAg-based therapeutic vaccines in treating chronic hepatitis B virus infection显示文摘BACKGROUND: As the host immunity is diminished in patients with chronic hepatitis B (CHB), different approaches have been used to up-regulate their immune responses to produce therapeutic effects. But, cytokines, growth factors and polyclonal immune modulators could not exhibit sufficient therapeutic effects in these patients. Immune therapy with HBV-related antigens (vaccine therapy) has been used in CHB patients. But there is a paucity of information about the design of HBV antigen-based immune therapy in these patients. DATA SOURCE: Preclinical and clinical studies on immune therapy with HBsAg-based vaccine, HBcAg and combination of HBsAg/HBcAg-based vaccines have been discussed. RESULTS: HBsAg-based prophylactic vaccine was used as an immune therapeutic agent in CHB patients; however, monotherapy with HBsAg-based immune therapy could not lead to sustained control of HBV replication and/or liver damages. HBsAg-based vaccine was used as a combination therapy with cytokines, growth factors, and antiviral drugs. HBsAg-based vaccine was also used for cell-based therapy. However, satisfactory therapeutic effects of HBsAg-based vaccine could not be documented in CHB patients. In the mean time, evidences have supported that HBcAg-specific immunity is endowed with antiviral and liver protecting capacities in CHB patients. Recent data concentrate on the clinical use of combined HBsAg- and HBcAg-based vaccines in CHB patients.CONCLUSION: Antigen-based immune therapy with HBV- related antigens may be an alternative method for the treatment of CHB patients but proper designs of antigens, types of adjuvants, dose of vaccinations, and routes of administration need further analyses for the development of an effective regimen of immune therapy against HBV. | Sheikh Mohammad Fazle Akbar Mamun Al-Mahtab Mohammad Helal Uddin Md. | 2 | A compact transmit/receive switch for 2.4 GHz reader-less active RFID tag transceiver显示文摘Radio frequency identification(RFID) is a ubiquitous identification technology nowadays. An on-chip high-performance transmit/receive(T/R) switch is designed and simulated in 0.13-μm CMOS technology for reader-less RFID tag. The switch utilizes only the transistor width and length(W/L) optimization, proper gate bias resistor and resistive body floating technique and therefore,exhibits 1 d B insertion loss, 31.5 d B isolation and 29.2 d Bm 1-d B compression point(P1d B). Moreover, the switch dissipates only786.7 n W power for 1.8/0 V control voltages and is capable of switching in 794 fs. Above all, as there is no inductor or capacitor used in the circuit, the size of the switch is 0.00208 mm2 only. | 7 | Seaweed farming for food and nutritional security,climate change mitigation and adaptation,and women empowerment:A review显示文摘Seaweed is a promising marine macroalgae of the millennium,providing various ecological,social,and economic benefits.At present,seaweed production reached 35.8 million t from farming,accounting for 97%of global seaweed output,with a world market of US$11.8 billion.Seaweeds are an excellent source of nutritious human food because of their low lipid content,high minerals,fibers,polyunsaturated fatty acids,polysaccharides,vitamins,and bioactive compounds.Many seaweed sub-products offer unique properties to develop various functional foods for the food processing industries.In the perspective of climate change mitigation,seaweed farms absorb carbon,serve as a CO_(2)sink and reduce agricultural emissions by providing raw materials for biofuel production and livestock feed.Seaweed farming system also helps in climate change adaptation by absorbing wave energy,safeguarding shorelines,raising the pH of the surrounding water,and oxygenating the waters to minimize the impacts of ocean acidification and hypoxia on a localized scale.Moreover,it contributes substantially to the sustainable development of the economic condition of coastal women by providing livelihood opportunities and ensuring financial solvency.This review paper highlights the significance of seaweed farming in global food and nutritional security,mitigation and adaptation to global climate change,and women empowerment within a single frame.This review paper also outlined the major issues and challenges of seaweed farming for obtaining maximum benefits in these aspects.The main challenges of making seaweed as a staple diet to millions of people include producing suitable species of seaweeds,making seaweed products accessible,affordable,nutritionally balanced,and attractive to the consumers.Various food products must be developed from seaweeds that may be considered equivalent to the foods consumed by humans today.Lack of effective marine spatial planning to avoid user conflicts is vital for expanding the seaweed farming systems to provide aquatic foods and contribute globally for mitigation and adaptation of climate change impacts.Hence,women’s empowerment through seaweed farming is primarily constrained by the lack of technical knowledge and financial resources to establish the coastal farming system.All the information discussed in this paper will help to understand the critical needs for large-scale seaweed farming for climate resilience mariculture,potentials for global food security,and future research on various aspects of seaweed farming and their diverse utilization. | Fahmida Sultana Md Abdul Wahab Md Nahiduzzaman Md Mohiuddin Mohammad Zafar Iqbal Abrar Shakil Abdullah-Al Mamun Md Sadequr Rahman Khan LiLian Wong Md Asaduzzaman | 2023 | Aquaculture and Fisheries2023,8,5: | 0 |

| 10 | Forecasting COVID-19 situation in Bangladesh显示文摘Forecasting the COVID‐19 confirmed cases,deaths,and recoveries demands time to know the severity of the novel coronavirus.This research aims to predict all types of COVID‐19 cases(verified people,deaths,and recoveries)from the deadliest 3rd wave data of the COVID‐19 pandemic in Bangladesh.We used the official website of the Directorate General of Health Services as our data source.To identify and predict the upcoming trends of the COVID‐19 situation of Bangladesh,we fit the Auto‐Regressive Integrated Moving Average(ARIMA)model on the data from Mar.01,2021 to Jul.31,2021.The finding of the ARIMA model(forecast model)reveals that infected,deaths,and recoveries number will have experienced exponential growth in Bangladesh to October 2021.Our model reports that confirmed cases and deaths will escalate by four times,and the recoveries will improve by five times at a later point in October 2021 if the trend of the three scenarios of COVID‐19 from March to July lasts.The prediction of the COVID‐19 scenario for the next three months is very frightening in Bangladesh,so the strategic planner and field‐level personnel need to search for suitable policies and strategies and adopt these for controlling the mass transmission of the virus. | Mossamet Kamrun Nesa Md.Rashed Babu Mohammad Tareq Mamun Khan | 2022 | Biosafety and Health2022,4,1: | 0 |
| 11 | Detection of Different Stages of Alzheimer’s Disease Using CNN Classifier显示文摘Alzheimer’s disease(AD)is a neurodevelopmental impairment that results in a person’s behavior,thinking,and memory loss.Themost common symptoms ofADare losingmemory and early aging.In addition to these,there are several serious impacts ofAD.However,the impact ofADcanbemitigatedby early-stagedetection though it cannot be cured permanently.Early-stage detection is the most challenging task for controlling and mitigating the impact of AD.The study proposes a predictive model to detect AD in the initial phase based on machine learning and a deep learning approach to address the issue.To build a predictive model,open-source data was collected where five stages of images of AD were available as Cognitive Normal(CN),Early Mild Cognitive Impairment(EMCI),Mild Cognitive Impairment(MCI),Late Mild Cognitive Impairment(LMCI),and AD.Every stage of AD is considered as a class,and then the dataset was divided into three parts binary class,three class,and five class.In this research,we applied different preprocessing steps with augmentation techniques to efficiently identifyAD.It integrates a random oversampling technique to handle the imbalance problem from target classes,mitigating the model overfitting and biases.Then three machine learning classifiers,such as random forest(RF),K-Nearest neighbor(KNN),and support vector machine(SVM),and two deep learning methods,such as convolutional neuronal network(CNN)and artificial neural network(ANN)were applied on these datasets.After analyzing the performance of the used models and the datasets,it is found that CNN with binary class outperformed 88.20%accuracy.The result of the study indicates that the model is highly potential to detect AD in the initial phase. | S M Hasan Mahmud Md Mamun Ali Mohammad Fahim Shahriar Fahad Ahmed Al-Zahrani Kawsar Ahmed Dip Nandi Francis M.Bui | 2023 | Computers, Materials & Continua2023,76,9: | 0 |

| 13 | Comparison Between Diltiazem and Cedilanid-D on Ventricular Rate Control of Atrial Fibrillation and Their Effect on Atrioventricular Conduction System.显示文摘Objectives This randomizedstudy was designed to compare the safety and efficacy ofintravenous diltiazem versus intravenous cedilanid-D(deslanoside) for ventricular rate control in patientswith atrial fibrillation (AF). Analysis of the effect onconduction system of these drugs was also performed.Methods Forty three patients with AF were randomlyassigned to receive intravenous therapy with 0.25mg/kgdiltiazem (n = 21) or 0.4mg cedilanid-D (n = 22). Ifnot effective at 120 minutes (< 20% decrease inpretreatment ventricular rate or can not convert to sinusrhythm= another dose of diltiazem or 0.2mg cedilanid-Dwas administered. Blood pressure and electrocardio-graphic recordings were performed before and after 5,10, 20, 30, 60 minutes of drug administration. Furtherrecordings were performed at 120 minutes in non-effective patients, and at 180 minutes in patients whoreceived second time drug administration. To evaluatethe effect on conduction system of these two drugs bymeasuring PA, AH and HV intervals using His bundleelectrogram test another nineteen sinus rhythm patientswere randomized to diltiazem (n=9) and cedilanid (n=10) group. His bundle electrogram recordings wereperformed before and after 5, 10, 20 and 30 minutes ofdrug administration. Statistical significance was assessedwith the use of t test, Fisher’s exact test, ANOVA andLSD methodology. Results At baseline and after 5,10, 20, 30, 60 minutes of drug administration theheart rates (mean±SD) were(133+15), (92±20) , (87±22), (85±20), (85 ±21), (85±23)beats/minute indiltiazem group respectively and(140±21), (122±24),(118±25), (110±26), (112±25), (110±28) beats/minute in cedilanid-D group respectively. Heart ratereduction was higher in diltiazem group than cedilanidgroup during 5 (41±20 vs 17±14,P < 0 . 0 1 ) ; 1 0(46±21 vs 22±20, P<0.01); 20 (48±21 vs 29±22,P<0.01); 30(48±22 vs 27±22,P<0.01 )and 60 minutes(48±23 vs 29±24, P< 0.05). Both drugs had no effecton both systolic and diastolic blood pressure (P >0.05)and no major side effects were noticed. Diltiazemmaintained effective ventricular rate in 20 patients,whereas cedilanid-D maintained in 15 patients within180 minutes (95.2%vs 68.2%,P< 0.05). There wereno statistical significance in baseline heart rate, ageand weight between the two groups. Both diltiazem andcedilanid-D can increase AH interval, but have noeffect on HV and PA intervals in sinus rhythm patients.Conclusions Both diltiazem and cedilanid-Ddecrease ventricular heart rate, but heart rate reductionis significantly higher in diltiazem group, thus shouldbe considered as a drug of choice for emergency controlof ventricular rate. Under clinical monitoring this doseof diltiazem seems to be safe and applicable in AFpatients with congestive heart failure.
