Spatially distributed damage in sandstone under stress-freeze-thaw coupling conditions显示文摘In the present study,we tried to understand the spatially distributed damage in sandstone samples under the coupled stress-freeze-thaw(SFT)conditions.Firstly,uniaxial compressive stresses(i.e.0 MPa,10 MPa,20 MPa,and 25 MPa)were applied to the samples, and then freeze-thaw(FT)cycles(0,8,16,and 24)were performed on the uniaxially stressed samples to realize the SFT coupling.Next,real-time CT scanning was conducted to observe the induced damage. The total porosity was introduced to quantitatively evaluate the damage degree. The local porosity variation, with the distance from the center of the sandstone sample, was analyzed to understand the spatial distribution of damage. Finally, the coupling effects of SFT on the damage gradient were discussed. The results indicate that the porosity rises with FT cycles, and the applied stresses can accelerate the increase in porosity. The damage increases exponentially with the distance from the center of the sample. The damage presents a spatial gradient distribution, not the commonly used uniform distribution in various studies. The damage gradient increases with FT cycles, and the increasing rate in damage gradient decreases at uniaxial stress of 0 MPa and 10 MPa first, but the increasing rate in damage gradient increases with FT cycles then at stress increasing to 20 MPa. | Lifeng Fan Yiding Fan Yan Xi Jingwei Gao | 2022 | Journal of Rock Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering2022,14,6: | 1
Grid cell remapping under three-dimensional object and social landmarks detected by implantable microelectrode arrays for the medial entorhinal cortex显示文摘Grid cells with stable hexagonal firing patterns in the medial entorhinal cortex(MEC)carry the vital function of serving as a metric for the surrounding environment.Whether this mechanism processes only spatial information or involves nonspatial information remains elusive. Here,we fabricated an MEC-shaped microelectrode array(MEA)to detect the variation in neural spikes and local field potentials of the MEC when rats forage in a square enclosure with a planar,three-dimensional object and social landmarks in sequence. The results showed that grid cells exhibited rate remapping under social conditions in which spike firing fields closer to the social landmark had a higher firing rate.Furthermore, global remapping showed that hexagonal firing patterns were rotated and scaled when the planar landmark was replaced with object and social landmarks. In addition, when grid cells were activated, the local field potentials were dominated by the theta band(5–8 Hz),and spike phase locking was observed at troughs of theta oscillations. Our results suggest the pattern separation mechanism of grid cells in which the spatial firing structure and firing rate respond to spatial and social information, respectively, which may provide new insights into how the brain creates a cognitive map. | Zhaojie Xu Fan Mo Gucheng Yang Penghui Fan Yiding Wang Botao Lu Jingyu Xie Yuchuan Dai Yilin Song Enhui He Shihong Xu Juntao Liu Mixia Wang Xinxia Cai | 2022 | Microsystems & Nanoengineering2022,8,5: | 0
Safety and Current Status of the COVID-19 Vaccine among Patients with Breast cancer: A Cross-Sectional Study from China显示文摘In this study,we aimed to explore the safety and vaccination coverage data of Chinese patients with breast cancer receiving coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)vaccination.The patients were recruited from 41 hospitals across 20 Chinese provinces. The vaccination coverage was approximately 22.4%,and the frequency of total adverse events was 13.3%after the first dose and 9.9%after the second dose. The most frequent adverse reaction within 14 days of the first dose was local pain(5.7%).Unvaccinated patients were very likely to reject the vaccine rather than be hesitant in patients with old age(odds ratio[OR],1.238;95%confidence interval[CI],1.101-1.391),chronic disease history(OR,1.189;95%CI,1.057-1.337),and cancer relapse(OR,1.398;95%CI,1.233-1.585).Of the unvaccinated patients with breast cancer,54.1%opted to receive COVID-19 vaccines if more data were available.Considering the safety but low vaccination coverage for breast cancer, increased positive attitudes and acceptance toward COVID-19 vaccines are important. | Shaohua Zhang Jianbin Li Ruonan Xu Qianjun Chen Gang Sun Ying Lin Feng Jin Xinlan Liu Zhimin Fan Yiding Chen Yali Cao Xinzheng Li Jianyun Nie Guiying Xu Xiaojia Wang Yuee Teng Tao Sun Hong Liu Jing Luo Cuizhi Geng Man Li Ting Luo Yinhua Liu Fu-Sheng Wang Zefei Jiang | 2023 | Infectious Diseases & Immunity2023,3,3: | 0
Phase-transforming mechanical metamaterials with dynamically controllable shape-locking performance显示文摘Active mechanical metamaterials with customizable structures and deformations, active reversible deformation, dynamically controllable shape-locking performance and stretchability are highly suitable for applications in soft robotics and flexible electronics, yet it is challenging to integrate them due to their mutual conflicts. Here,we introduce a class of phase-transforming mechanical metamaterials(PMMs)that integrate the above properties.Periodically arranging basic actuating units according to the designed pattern configuration a nd positional relationship,PMMs can customize complex and diverse structures and deformations.Liquid-vapor phase transformation provides active reversible large deformation while a silicone matrix offers stretchability. The contained carbonyl iron powder endows PMMs with dynamically controllable shape-locking performance, thereby achieving magnetically assisted shape locking and energy storing in different working modes. We build a theoretical model and finite element simulation to guide the design process of PMMs,so as to develop a variety of PMMs with different functions suitable for different applications, such as a programmed PMM,reconfigurable antenna, soft lens, soft mechanical memory, biomimetic hand, biomimetic flytrap and self-contained soft gripper.PMMs are applicable to achieve various 2D deformations and 2D-to-3D deformations, and integrate multiple properties, including customizable structures and deformations, active reversible deformation, rapid reversible shape locking, adjustable energy storing and stretchability, which could open a new application avenue in soft robotics and flexible electronics. | Yiding Zhong Wei Tang Huxiu Xu Kecheng Qin Dong Yan Xujun Fan Yang Qu Zhaoyang Li Zhongdong Jiao Huayong Yang Jun Zou | 2023 | National Science Review2023,10,9: | 0

Detection of neuronal defensive discharge information transmission and characteristics in periaqueductal gray double-subregions using PtNP/PEDOT:PSS modified microelectrode arrays显示文摘Threatened animals respond with appropriate defensive behaviors to survive. It has been accepted that midbrain periaqueductal gray(PAG)plays an essential role in the circuitry system and organizes defensive behavioral responses. However, the role and correlation of different PAG subregions in the expression of different defensive behaviors remain largely unexplored. Here,we designed and manufactured a microelectrode array(MEA)to simultaneously detect the activities of dPAG and vPAG neurons in freely behaving rats.To improve the detection performance of the MEAs,PtNP/PEDOT:PSS nanocomposites were modified onto the MEAs.Subsequently, the predator odor was used to induce the rat’s innate fear, and the changes and information transmission in neuronal activities were detected in the dPAG and vPAG.Our results showed that the dPAG and vPAG participated in innate fear, but the activation degree was distinct in different defense behaviors.During flight, neuronal responses were stronger and earlier in the dPAG than the vPAG,while vPAG neurons responded more strongly during freezing.By applying high-performance MEA,it was revealed that neural information spread from the activated dPAG to the weakly activated vPAG.Our research also revealed that dPAG and vPAG neurons exhibited different defensive discharge characteristics, and dPAG neurons participated in the regulation of defense responses with burst-firing patterns. The slow activation and continuous firing of vPAG neurons cooresponded with the regulation of long-term freezing responses. The results demonstrated the important role of PAG neuronal activities in controlling different aspects of defensive behaviors and provided novel insights for investigating defense from the electrophysiological perspective. | Botao Lu Penghui Fan Ming Li Yiding Wang Wei Liang Gucheng Yang Fan Mo Zhaojie Xu Jin Shan Yilin Song Juntao Liu Yirong Wu Xinxia Cai | 2023 | Microsystems & Nanoengineering2023,9,3: | 0
