1Microwave thermal remediation of crude oil contaminated soil enhanced by carbon fiber显示文摘Thermal remediation of the soil contaminated with crude oil using microwave heating enhanced by carbon fiber(CF) was explored. The contaminated soil was treated with 2.45 GHz microwave,and CF was added to improve the conversion of microwave energy into thermal energy to heat the soil.During microwave heating,the oil contaminant was removed from the soil matrix and recovered by a condensation system of ice-salt bath.The experimental results indicated that CF could effciently enhance the microwave heating of soil even with relatively low-dose.With 0.1 wt.%CF,the soil could be heated to approximately 700°C within 4 min using 800 W of microwave irradiation.Correspondingly,the contaminated soil could be highly cleaned up in a short time.Investigation of oil recovery showed that,during the remediation process,oil contaminant in the soil could be effciently recovered without causing significant secondary pollution.LI Dawei,ZHANG Yaobin,QUAN Xie,ZHAO Yazhi Key Laboratory of Industrial Ecology and Environmental Engineering,Ministry of Education of China,School of Environmental and Biological Science and Technology,Dalian University of Technology,Dalian 116024,China 2009Journal of Environmental Sciences2009,21,9:9
2Steady performance of a zero valent iron packed anaerobic reactor for azo dye wastewater treatment under variable influent quality显示文摘Zero valent iron(ZVI) is expected to help create an enhanced anaerobic environment that might improve the performance of anaerobic treatment.Based on this idea,a novel ZVI packed upflow anaerobic sludge blanket(ZVI-UASB) reactor was developed to treat azo dye wastewater with variable influent quality.The results showed that the reactor was less influenced by increases of Reactive Brilliant Red X-3B concentration from 50 to 1000 mg/L and chemical oxygen demand(COD) from 1000 to 7000 mg/L in the feed than a reference UASB reactor without the ZVI.The ZVI decreased oxidation-reduction potential in the reactor by about 80 mV.Iron ion dissolution from the ZVI could buffer acidity in the reactor,the amount of which was related to the COD concentration.Fluorescence in situ hybridization test showed the abundance of methanogens in the sludge of the ZVI-UASB reactor was significantly greater than that of the reference one.Denaturing gradient gel electrophoresis showed that the ZVI increased the diversity of microbial strains responsible for high efficiency.Yaobin Zhang Yiwen Liu Yanwen Jing Zhiqiang Zhao Xie Quan 2012Journal of Environmental Sciences2012,24,4:9
3Electrochemically enhanced adsorption of PFOA and PFOS on multiwalled carbon nanotubes in continuous flow mode显示文摘It is important to develop efficient technologies on removal of perfluorooctanoic acid(PFOA)and perfluorooctane sulfonate(PFOS)from water due to their wide distribution and potential threat to human health.In this work,a durable and convenient electrosorption device was designed in continuous flow mode to investigate the adsorption of PFOX(X=A and S)on multiwalled carbon nanotubes(MWNTs)from water under electrochemical assistance.The electrosorption experiments were conducted under different influent and electrolyte concentrations,hydraulic retention time(HRT)and electrode distance to optimize the operation.The results showed that the highest removal efficiencies toward both PFOA and PFOS could come up to 90%at 1 V.Compared with open circuit(OC)adsorption under the same conditions,the removal efficiencies were improved by 4.9 times(PFOA)and 4.2 times(PFOS)respectively.In addition,the MWNTs electrode was found to be reusable.These findings provide an efficient method to remove PFOX from water by electrosorption in continuous flow mode.Shuangyu Wang Xiaona Li Yaobin Zhang Xie Quan Shuo Chen Hongtao Yu Huimin Zhao 2014Chinese Science Bulletin2014,59,23:8
4Effects of Cu(Ⅱ) and humic acid on atrazine photodegradation显示文摘This work was designed to explore the characteristics of photodegradation of herbicides in the copper-polluted water body. The results showed that Cu(II) alone could induce a photo Fenton-like reaction to enhance the degradation of atrazine, in which hydroxyl radical (·OH) was a main active species. Humic acids restrained atrazine degradation, nevertheless, when introducing Cu(II), the photodegradation was accelerated, in which singlet oxygen ( 1 O 2 ) replaced ·OH acting as the prevailing species. 5Electrocatalytic dechlorination of 2,4,5-trichlorobiphenyl using an aligned carbon nanotubes electrode deposited with palladium nanoparticles显示文摘Palladium loaded carbon nanotubes cathode with well-aligned nanotubes array was successfully fabricated on a titanium foil (Pd/CNTs/Ti) using a chemical vapor deposition technique and subsequent electrochemical deposition method. Pd particles were well dispersed on CNTs wall surfaces with average sizes no more than 20 nm, in most cases around 10 nm. Experiments for dechlorination of 2,4,5-trichlorobiphenyl (PCB 29) in methanol/water solution were carried out for the first time using Pd/CNTs/Ti cathode for investigation of its performance in electrocatalytic dechlorination of PCBs. Results show that Pd/CNTs/Ti presented better dechlorination efficiency (up to 90% in 6 h) than Pd/Ti and Pd/graphite cathodes owing to unique properties owned by CNTs, which benefited enhanced dechlorination of PCB 29. Complete dechlorination for PCB 29 was observed and biphenyl was identified to be final dechlorination product. 6A pulsed switching peroxi-coagulation process to control hydroxyl radical production and to enhance 2,4-Dichlorophenoxyacetic acid degradation显示文摘The aim of this study was to develop a new pulsed switching peroxi-coagulation system to control hydroxyl radical(∙OH)production and to enhance 2,4-Dichlorophenoxyacetic acid(2,4-D)degradation.The system was constructed with a sacrifice iron anode,a Pt anode,and a gas diffusion cathode.Production of H_(2)O_(2) and Fe^(2+)was controlled separately by time delayers with different pulsed switching frequencies.Under current densities of 5.0 mA/cm^(2)(H_(2)O_(2))and 0.5 mA/cm^(2)(Fe^(2+)),the∙OH production was optimized with the pulsed switching frequency of 1.0 s(H_(2)O_(2)):0.3 s(Fe^(2+))and the ratio of H_(2)O_(2) to Fe^(2+)molar concentrations of 6.6.Under the optimal condition,2,4-D with an initial concentration of 500 mg/L was completely removed in the system within 240 min.The energy consumption for the 2,4-D removal in the system was much lower than that in the electro-Fenton process(686 vs.13610 kWh/kg TOC).The iron consumption in the system was~20 times as low as that in the peroxi-coagulation process(19620 vs.3940400 mg/L)within 240 min.The system should be a promising peroxi-coagulation method for organic pollutants removal in wastewater.Yaobin Lu Songli He Dantong Wang Siyuan Luo Aiping Liu Haiping Luo Guangli Liu Renduo Zhang 2018Frontiers of Environmental Science & Engineering2018,12,5:3

8Multiple Routes Recommendation System on Massive Taxi Trajectories显示文摘This paper presents a cloud-based multiple-route recommendation system, xGo, that enables smartphone users to choose suitable routes based on knowledge discovered in real taxi trajectories. In modern cities, GPS-equipped taxicabs report their locations regularly, which generates a huge volume of trajectory data every day. The optimized routes can be learned by mining these massive repositories of spatio-temporal information. We propose a system that can store and manage GPS log files in a cloud-based platform, probe traffic conditions, take advantage of taxi driver route-selection intelligence, and recommend an optimal path or multiple candidates to meet customized requirements. Specifically, we leverage a Hadoop-based distributed route clustering algorithm to distinguish different routes and predict traffic conditions through the latent traffic rhythm. We evaluate our system using a real-world dataset(>100 GB) generated by about 20 000 taxis over a 2-month period in Shenzhen, China. 9A strategy for enhancing anaerobic digestion of waste activated sludge: Driving anodic oxidation by adding nitrate into microbial electrolysis cell显示文摘Cathodic reduction of CO_2 and anodic oxidation of organic matters are crucial to methaneproducing microbial electrolysis cell(MEC) applied in anaerobic digestion of waste activated sludge. However, cathodic CO_2 reduction is usually restrained by slow metabolism rates of H_2-utilizing methanogens and low electron-capturing capacity of CO_2, which consequently slows down the anodic oxidation that participates to sludge disintegration. Herein, a strategy with adding nitrate as electron acceptor to foster electronic transfer between the anode and cathode was proposed to improve anodic oxidation. Results showed that the average efficiency of anodic oxidation in the nitrate-added MEC increased by 55.9%. Accordingly,volatile suspended solid removal efficiency in the nitrate-added MEC was 21.9% higher than that of control MEC. Although the initial cumulative methane production in the nitrateadded MEC was lower than that of control MEC, the cumulative methane production in 24 days was 8.9% higher. Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy analysis indicated that anodic oxidation of MEC with nitrate accelerated the disintegration of sludge flocs and cell walls. 10Fabrication of Tβ4-Exosome-releasing artificial stem cells for myocardial infarction therapy by improving coronary collateralization显示文摘Currently,stem cell transplantations in cardiac repair are limited owing to disadvantages,such as immunological rejection and poor cell viability.Although direct injection of exosomes can have a curative effect similar to that of stem cell transplantation,high clearance hinders its application in clinical practice.Previous reports suggested that induction of coronary collateralization can be a desired method of adjunctive therapy for someone who had missed the optimal operation time to attenuate myocardial ischemia.In this study,to mimic the paracrine and biological activity of stem cells,we developed artificial stem cells that can continuously release Tβ4-exosomes(Tβ4-ASCs)by encapsulating specific exosomes within microspheres using microfluidics technology.The results show that Tβ4-ASCs can greatly promote coronary collateralization in the periphery of the myocardial infarcted area,and its therapeutic effect is superior to that of directly injecting the exosomes.In addition,to better understand how it works,we demonstrated that the Tβ4-ASC-derived exosomes can enhance the angiogenic capacity of coronary endothelial cells(CAECs)via the miR-17-5p/PHD3/Hif-1αpathway.In brief,as artificial stem cells,Tβ4-ASCs can constantly release functional exosomes and stimulate the formation of collateral circulation after myocardial infarction,providing a feasible and alternative method for clinical revascularization.Peier Chen Xiaodong Ning Weirun Li Yuxuan Pan Ling Wang Hekai Li Xianglin Fan Jiexin Zhang Tiantian Luo Yaobin Wu Caiwen Ou Minsheng Chen 2022Bioactive Materials2022,7,8:2

12Enhanced heterogeneous Fenton-like activity by Cu-dopecl BiFeO3 perovskite for degradation of organic pollutants显示文摘Heterogeneous Fenton-like reaction has been extensively investigated to eliminate refractory organic contaminants in wastewater,but it usually shows low catalytic performance due to difficulty in reduction from Fe(Ⅲ)to Fe(Ⅱ).In this study,enhanced catalytic efficiency was obtained by employing Cu-doped BiFeO3 as heterogeneous Fenton-like catalysts,which exhibited higher catalytic perfor;nance toward the activation of H2O2 for phenol degradation than un-doped BiFeO3.. BiFe0.8Cu0.2O3 displayed the best performance,which yielded 91% removal of phenol (10mg L^-1) in 120min.The pseudo first-order kinetic rate constant of phenol degradation in BiFe0.8Cu0.2O3 catalyzed heterogeneous Fenton-like reaction was 5times higher than those of traditional heterogeneous Fenton-like catalysts,such as Fe3O4 and goethite.The phenol degradation efficiency could still reach 83% after 4 cycles,which implied the good stability of BiFe0.8Cu0.2O3.The high catalytic activity of BiFe0.8Cu0.2O3 was attributed to the fact that the doping Cu into BiFeO3 could promote the generation of Fe(Ⅱ)in the catalyst and then facilitate the activation of H2O2 to degrade the organic pollutants.Jie Mao Xie Quan Jing Wang Cong Gao Shuo Chen Hongtao Yu Yaobin Zhang 2018Frontiers of Environmental Science & Engineering2018,12,6:2
13Efficient degradation of drug ibuprofen through catalytic activation of peroxymonosulfate by Fe_3C embedded on carbon显示文摘Ibuprofen(IBU),a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug,is becoming an important member of pharmaceuticals and personal care products(PPCPs)as emerging pollutants.To degrade IBU,magnetic Fe_3C nanoparticles embedded on N-doped carbon(Fe_3C/NC)were prepared as a catalyst by a sol–gel combustion method.As characterized,the Fe_3C/NC nanoparticles were composed of a NC nano-sheet and capsulated Fe_3C particles on the sheet.The Fe_3C/NC nanoparticles were confirmed an efficient catalyst for peroxymonosulfate(PMS)activation to generate sulfate radicals(SO_4^(·-)),single oxygen(~1O_2)and hydroxyl radicals(·OH)toward the degradation of IBU.The added IBU(10 mg/L)was almost completely removed in 30 min by using 0.1 g/L Fe_3C/NC and 2 g/L PMS.The catalyst was confirmed to have good ability and excellent reusability through leaching measurements and cycle experiments.A catalytic mechanism was proposed for the catalytic activation of PMS on Fe_3C/NC,which involves both Fe_3C reactive sites and N-doped carbon matrix as reactive sites in Fe_3C/NC.Moreover,the degradation pathway of IBU in the Fe_3C/NC-PMS system was proposed according to the detections of degradation intermediates.Guangli Zhang Yaobin Ding Wenshan Nie Heqing Tang 2019Journal of Environmental Sciences2019,31,4:2

18Contribution of black carbon to nonlinearity of sorption and desorption of acetochlor on sediment显示文摘In order to investigate the contribution of various black carbon(BC)contents to nonlinearity of sorption and desorption isotherms for acetochlor on sediment,equilibrium sorption and desorption isotherms were determined to measure sorption and desorption of acetochlor in sediment amended with various amounts of BC.In this paper,two types of BC referred to as BC400 and BC500 were prepared at 400℃ and 500℃,respectively.Higher preparation temperature facilitated the formation of micropores on BC to enhance its sorption capacity.Increase of the BC content obviously increased the sorption amount and reduced the desorption amount for acetochlor.When the BC500 contents in total organic carbon(TOC)increased from 0 to 60%,Freundlich sorption coefficient(K_(f))increased from 4.07 to 35.74,and desorption hysteresis became gradually obvious.When the content of BC in TOC was lower than 23%,the sorption isotherm had a significant linear correlation(p=0.05).In case of desorption,a significant nonlinear change could be observed when the content of BC was up to 13%.Increase of BC content in the sediment would result in shifting the sorption-desorption isotherms from linearity to nonlinearity,which indicated that contribution of BC to nonlinear adsorption fraction became gradually remarkable.Jianqiu LIU Yaobin ZHANG Hong CHEN Yazhi ZHAO Xie QUAN 2009Frontiers of Environmental Science & Engineering2009,3,1:1
