Pollution characteristics and health risk assessment of benzene homologues in ambient air in the northeastern urban area of Beijing, China显示文摘Ambient benzene homologues were measured at a site in the northeastern urban area of Beijing, China, from August 24 to September 4, 2012 by SUMMA canister sampling followed by laboratory determination using cryogenic cold trap pre-concentration-GC-MS/FID, and their health risks were also assessed. Daily total benzene homologues ranged from 0.99 to 49.71 μg/m3with an average of 11.98 μg/m3. Benzene homologues showed higher concentrations in the morning and evening than that at noontime. Comparison with previous studies revealed a trend of decrease for ambient benzene homologues probably due to the efective emission control in Beijing in recent years. Vehicular exhaust was the main source while volatilization of paints and solvents also made substantial contributions. Health risk assessment showed that BTEX(benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, o-xylene, m-xylene and p-xylene) and styrene had no appreciable adverse non-cancer health risks for the exposed population, while benzene has potential cancer risk of 1.34E-05. Available data from cities in China all implied that benzene imposes relatively higher cancer risk on the exposed populations and therefore strict control measures should be taken to further lower ambient benzene levels in China. | Lei Li Hong Li Xinmin Zhang Li Wang Linghong Xu Xuezhong Wang Yanting Yu Yujie Zhang Guan Cao | 2014 | Journal of Environmental Sciences2014,26,1: | 40
Platelet-mediated adhesion facilitates leukocyte sequestration in hypoxia-reoxygenated microvessels显示文摘Leukocyte transendothelial migration and sequestration are two distinct outcomes following leukocyte adhesion to endothelium during ischemia-reperfusion injury, in which platelets may play a pivotal role. In the present study, we established an in vitro hypoxia-reoxygenation model to mimic ischemia-reperfusion injury and found platelet pre-incubation significantly increased leukocyte adhesion to endothelial cells after hyoxia-reoxygenation(over 67%). Blockade of endothelial-cell-expressed adhesion molecules inhibited leukocyte direct adhesion to endothelial cells, while platelet-mediated leukocyte adhesion was suppressed by blockade of platelet-expressed adhesion molecules. Further experiments revealed platelets acted as a bridge to mediate leukocyte adhesion, and platelet-mediated adhesion was the predominant pattern in the presence of platelets. However, platelet pre-incubation significantly suppressed leukocyte transendothelial migration after hypoxia-reoxygenation(over 31%), which could be aggravated by blockade of endothelial-cell-expressed adhesion molecules, but alleviated by blockade of platelet-expressed adhesion molecules. This would indicate that platelet-mediated adhesion disrupted leukocyte transendothelial migration. An in vivo mesenteric ischemia-reperfusion model demonstrated leukocyte transfusion alone caused mild leukocyte adhesion to reperfused vessels and subsequent leukocyte infiltration, while simultaneous leukocyte and platelet transfusion led to massive leukocyte adhesion and sequestration within reperfused microvessels. Our studies revealed platelets enhanced leukocyte adhesion to endothelial cells, but suppressed leukocyte transendothelial migration. Overall, this leads to leukocyte sequestration in hypoxia-reoxygenated microvessels. | Senfeng Zheng Yanting Cao Wenjian Zhang Honglin Liu Jia You Yiqing Yin Jinning Lou Chenghui Li | 2016 | Science China(Life Sciences)2016,59,3: | 3
SPDEF suppresses head and neck squamous cell carcinoma progression by transcriptionally activating NR4A1显示文摘SAM pointed domain containing E26 transformation-specific transcription factor(SPDEF)plays dual roles in the initiation and development of human malignancies. However, the biological role of SPDEF in head and neck squamous cell carcinoma(HNSCC)remains unclear. In this study, the expression level of SPDEF and its correlation with the clinical parameters of patients with HNSCC were determined using TCGA-HNSC,GSE65858,and our own clinical cohorts.CCK8,colony formation, cell cycle analysis, and a xenograft tumor growth model were used to determine the molecular functions of SPDEF in HNSCC.ChIP-qPCR,dual luciferase reporter assay, and rescue experiments were conducted to explore the potential molecular mechanism of SPDEF in HNSCC.Compared with normal epithelial tissues,SPDEF was significantly downregulated in HNSCC tissues.Patients with HNSCC with low SPDEF mRNA levels exhibited poor clinical outcomes.Restoring SPDEF inhibited HNSCC cell viability and colony formation and induced G0/G1 cell cycle arrest, while silencing SPDEF promoted cell proliferation in vitro. The xenograft tumor growth model showed that tumors with SPDEF overexpression had slower growth rates, smaller volumes, and lower weights.SPDEF could directly bind to the promoter region of NR4A1 and promoted its transcription, inducing the suppression of AKT,MAPK,and NF-κB signaling pathways. Moreover, silencing NR4A1 blocked the suppressive effect of SPDEF in HNSCC cells. Here,we demonstrate that SPDEF acts as a tumor suppressor by transcriptionally activating NR4A1 in HNSCC.Our findings provide novel insights into the molecular mechanism of SPDEF in tumorigenesis and a novel potential therapeutic target for HNSCC. | Yanting Wang Xianyue Ren Weiyu Li Ruoyan Cao Suyang Liu Laibo Jiang Bin Cheng Juan Xia | 2021 | International Journal of Oral Science2021,13,4: | 3

Efficient bright γ-ray vortex emission from a laser-illuminated light-fan-in-channel target显示文摘X/γ-rays have many potential applications in laboratory astrophysics and particle physics.Although several methods have been proposed for generating electron, positron, and X/γ-photon beams with angular momentum(AM),the generation of ultra-intense brilliant γ-rays is still challenging. Here,we present an all-optical scheme to generate a high-energy γ-photon beam with large beam angular momentum(BAM),small divergence, and high brilliance. In the first stage,a circularly polarized laser pulse with intensity of 10^(22) W/cm^(2) irradiates a micro-channel target, drags out electrons from the channel wall, and accelerates them to high energies via the longitudinal electric fields.During the process, the laser transfers its spin angular momentum(SAM)to the electrons’orbital angular momentum(OAM).In the second stage, the drive pulse is reflected by the attached fan-foil and a vortex laser pulse is thus formed. In the third stage, the energetic electrons collide head-on with the reflected vortex pulse and transfer their AM to the γ-photons via nonlinear Compton scattering.Three-dimensional particle-in-cell simulations show that the peak brilliance of the γ-ray beam is∼10^(22) photons·s^(-1)·mm^(-2)·mrad^(-2) per 0.1% bandwidth at 1 MeV with a peak instantaneous power of 25 TW and averaged BAM of 10^(6)h/photon.The AM conversion efficiency from laser to the γ-photons is unprecedentedly 0.67%. | Hao Zhang Jie Zhao Yanting Hu Qianni Li Yu Lu Yue Cao Debin Zou Zhengming Sheng Francesco Pegoraro Paul McKenna Fuqiu Shao Tongpu Yu | 2021 | High Power Laser Science and Engineering2021,9,3: | 1
Combining quantitative and qualitative magnetic resonance imaging features to differentiate anorectal malignant melanoma from low rectal cancer显示文摘Background:Distinguishing anorectal malignant melanoma from low rectal cancer remains challenging because of the overlap of clinical symptoms and imaging findings. We aim to investigate whether combining quantitative and qualitative magnetic resonance imaging(MRI)features could differentiate anorectal malignant melanoma from low rectal cancer.Methods:Thirty-seven anorectal malignant melanoma and 98 low rectal cancer patients who underwent preoperative rectal MRI from three hospitals were retrospectively enrolled. All patients were divided into the primary cohort(N=84)and validation cohort(N=51).Quantitative image analysiswas performed on T1-weighted(T1WI),T2-weighted(T2WI),and contrast-enhanced T1-weighted imaging(CE-T1WI).The subjective qualitative MRI findings were evaluated by two radiologists in consensus.Multivariable analysis was performed using stepwise logistic regression. The discrimination performance was assessed by the area under the receiver operating characteristic curve(AUC)with a 95%confidence interval(CI).Results:The skewness derived from T2WI(T2WI-skewness)showed the best discrimination performance among the entire quantitative image features for differentiating anorectal malignant melanoma from low rectal cancer(primary cohort:AUC=0.852,95%CI 0.788–0.916;validation cohort:0.730,0.645–0.815).Multivariable analysis indicated that T2WI-skewness and the signal intensity of T1WI were independent factors, and incorporating both factors achieved good discrimination performance in two cohorts(primary cohort:AUC=0.913,95%CI 0.868–0.958;validation cohort:0.902,0.844–0.960).Conclusions:Incorporating T2WI-skewness and the signal intensity of T1WI achieved good performance for differentiating anorectal malignant melanoma from low rectal cancer. The quantitative image analysis helps improve diagnostic accuracy. | Zeyan Xu Ke Zhao Lujun Han Pinxiong Li Zhenwei Shi Xiaomei Huang Chu Han Huihui Wang Minglei Chen Chen Liu Yanting Liang Suyun Li Yanqi Huang Xin Chen Changhong Liang Wuteng Cao Zaiyi Liu | 2021 | Precision Clinical Medicine2021,4,2: | 0
NuSTAR View of the R-ΓCorrelation in the Hard State of Black Hole Lowmass X-Ray Binaries显示文摘The power law and reflection emission have been observed in the X-ray spectra of both black hole X-ray binaries(BHXRBs)and active galactic nuclei(AGNs),indicating a common physical origin of the X-ray emission from these two types of sources. The relevant parameters describing the shape of both components and the potential correlation between these parameters can provide important clues on the geometric and physical properties of the disk and the corona in these sources. In this work,we present a positive correlation between the photon indexΓand the reflection strength R for the low-mass BHXRBs in the hard state by modeling NuSTAR data, which is qualitatively consistent with the previous studies. We compare our results with the predictions from different theoretical disk-corona models. We show that the RIT correlation found in this work seems to favor the moving corona model proposed by Beloborodov. Our results indicate that the coronal geometry varies significantly among BHXRBs.We further compare our results with that of AGNs.We find that the reflection strength R is smaller than unity in the hard state of BHXRBs,while it can be as large as~5 in AGNs,which implies that the variations of the disk-coronal geometry of AGNs are more vigorous than that of the BHXRBs in the hard state. | Yanting Dong Zhu Liu Xinwu Cao | 2023 | Research in Astronomy and Astrophysics2023,23,7: | 0
