1Role of ammonia in forming secondary aerosols from gasoline vehicle exhaust显示文摘Ammonia(NH3) plays vital roles in new particle formation and atmospheric chemistry. Although previous studies have revealed that it also influences the formation of secondary organic aerosols(SOA) from ozonolysis of biogenic and anthropogenic volatile organic compounds(VOCs), the influence of NH3 on particle formation from complex mixtures such as vehicle exhausts is still poorly understood. Here we directly introduced gasoline vehicles exhausts(GVE) into a smog chamber with NH3 absorbed by denuders to examine the role of NH3 in particle formation from GVE. We found that removing NH3 from GVE would greatly suppress the formation and growth of particles. Adding NH3 into the reactor after 3 h photo-oxidation of GVE, the particle number concentration and mass concentrations jumped explosively to much higher levels, indicating that the numbers and mass of particles might be enhanced when aged vehicle exhausts are transported to rural areas and mixed with NH3-rich plumes. We also found that the presence of NH3 had no significant influence on SOA formation from GVE. 2Experimental study on the mechanical properties and consolidation mechanism of microbial grouted backfill显示文摘Backfill mining technology is the practice of returning waste materials underground for both disposal and geotechnical stability,however,a challenge with current technologies is that they commonly require cement-based binders which have a relatively high environmental impact.Finding alternatives to cement-based binders can improve environmental performance and this paper proposes microbial grouted backfill(MGB)as a potential solution.In this paper,the effects of the cementation solution concentration(CSC),volume ratio of bacterial solution to cementation solution(VRBC),particle sizes of the aggregates,and the number of grouting batches on the mechanical properties of MGB are studied.The experimental results show that MGB strength increased,up to a peak value,as CSC was increased,before decreasing as CSC was increased further.The results also show that MGB strength increased,up to a peak value,as VRBC decreased,before decreasing as the VRBC was decreased further.The peak strength was achieved at a CSC of 2 mol/L and a VRBC of 1:9.The strength of the MGB also increased as the number of grouting batches increased.Graded MGB samples showed the highest UCS,25.12 MPa,at particle sizes of 0.2 to 0.8 mm,while full(non-graded)MGB samples displayed mean UCS values ranging from1.56 MPa when the maximum particle size was 0.2 mm,up to 13 MPa when the maximum particle size was 1.2 mm.MGB samples are consolidated by the calcium carbonate that is precipitated during microbial metabolism,and the strength of MGB increases linearly as calcium carbonate content increases.The calcium carbonate minerals produced in MGB materials are primarily calcite,with secondary amounts of vaterite.Xuejie Deng Yu Li Fei Wang Xiaoming Shi Yinchao Yang Xichen Xu Yanli Huang Benjamin de Wit 2022International Journal of Mining Science and Technology2022,32,2:7
3Compositions and sources of organic acids in fine particles(PM_(2.5)) over the Pearl River Delta region, south China显示文摘Organic acids as important constituents of organic aerosols not only influence the aerosols' hygroscopic property, but also enhance the formation of new particles and secondary organic aerosols. This study reported organic acids including C14–C32fatty acids, C4–C9dicarboxylic acids and aromatic acids in PM2.5collected during winter 2009 at six typical urban, suburban and rural sites in the Pearl River Delta region. Averaged concentrations of C14–C32fatty acids, aromatic acids and C4– C9 dicarboxylic acids were 157, 72.5 and 50.7 ng/m3, respectively. They totally accounted for 1.7% of measured organic carbon. C20–C32fatty acids mainly deriving from higher plant wax showed the highest concentration at the upwind rural site with more vegetation around, while C14–C18fatty acids were more abundant at urban and suburban sites, and dicarboxylic acids and aromatic acids except 1,4-phthalic acid peaked at the downwind rural site. Succinic and azelaic acid were the most abundant among C4–C9dicarboxylic acids, and 1,2-phthalic and 1,4-phthalic acid were dominant aromatic acids. Dicarboxylic acids and aromatic acids exhibited significant mutual correlations except for 1,4-phthalic acid, which was probably primarily emitted from combustion of solid wastes containing polyethylene terephthalate plastics. Spatial patterns and correlations with typical source tracers suggested that C14–C32fatty acids were mainly primary while dicarboxylic and aromatic acids were largely secondary. Principal component analysis resolved six sources including biomass burning, natural higher plant wax, two mixed anthropogenic and two secondary sources; further multiple linear regression revealed their contributions to individual organic acids. 4Prediction of nitrogen and phosphorus contents in citrus leaves based on hyperspectral imaging显示文摘The nutritional status of citrus leaves is very important to the determining of fertilization plans.The spectrum technique is a quick,un-injured method and is becoming widely used for plant nutrient estimation.The possibility and method of using spectrum technique to estimate the nutrient of citrus leaf was explored in this study.A total amount of 135 leaves from the mature spring shoots of navel orange trees(C.sinensis Osbeck,“Newhall”)were collected and randomly grouped into two sets of samples:100 leaves for the calibration set and 35 leaves for the prediction set.The hyperspectral images were scanned upper and lower side of each leaf and then the total nitrogen(N)and phosphorus(P)contents of each leaf were measured.The raw spectra data were extracted to generate average spectra curves,preprocessed with five different methods,and was used to build N and P content prediction models.The performances of the five preprocessing methods,i.e.,Savitzky-Golay smoothing(SGS),standard normal variate(SNV),multiplicative scatter correction(MSC),first-derivative(1-Der)and second-derivative(2-Der),were tested with linear partial least squares(PLS)models and nonlinear least squares-support vector machine(LS-SVM)models.The results showed that the SG-PLS and PLS were the best for the N predicting(Rp=0.9049,RMSEP=0.1041)and P(Rp=0.9235,RMSEP=0.0514)in citrus leaves,respectively;the hyperspectral image data from leaf‟s upper side predicting better for the contents of N and P.The study suggested that the hyperspectral image data from the upper side of the citrus leaves are suitable for nondestructive estimation of nutrient content.Liu Yanli Lyu Qiang He Shaolan Yi Shilai Liu Xuefeng Xie Rangjin Zheng Yongqiang Deng Lie 2015International Journal of Agricultural and Biological Engineering2015,8,2:5
5Genome-level diversification of eight ancient tea populations in the Guizhou and Yunnan regions identifies candidate genes for core agronomic traits显示文摘The ancient tea plant,as a precious natural resource and source of tea plant genetic diversity,is of great value for studying the evolutionary mechanism,diversification,and domestication of plants.The overall genetic diversity among ancient tea plants and the genetic changes that occurred during natural selection remain poorly understood.Here,we report the genome resequencing of eight different groups consisting of 120 ancient tea plants:six groups from Guizhou Province and two groups from Yunnan Province.Based on the 8,082,370 identified high-quality SNPs,we constructed phylogenetic relationships,assessed population structure,and performed genome-wide association studies(GWAS).Our phylogenetic analysis showed that the 120 ancient tea plants were mainly clustered into three groups and five single branches,which is consistent with the results of principal component analysis(PCA).Ancient tea plants were further divided into seven subpopulations based on genetic structure analysis.Moreover,it was found that the variation in ancient tea plants was not reduced by pressure from the external natural environment or artificial breeding(nonsynonymous/synonymous=1.05).By integrating GWAS,selection signals,and gene function prediction,four candidate genes were significantly associated with three leaf traits,and two candidate genes were significantly associated with plant type.These candidate genes can be used for further functional characterization and genetic improvement of tea plants.Litang Lu Hufang Chen Xiaojing Wang Yichen Zhao Xinzhuan Yao Biao Xiong Yanli Deng Degang Zhao 2021Horticulture Research2021,8,1:3

7Fast screening compositions of PM2.5 by ATR-FTIR: Comparison with results from IC and OC/EC analyzers显示文摘Chemical speciation of fine particles or PM_(2.5) collected on filters is still a costly and timeconsuming task. In this study, filter-based PM_(2.5) samples were collected during November–December 2013 at four sites in Guangzhou, and the major components were fast screened(~7 min per filter sample) by Attenuated Total Reflectance(ATR)-Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopic(FTIR) in comparison with that measured by Organic carbon/Element carbon(OC/EC) analyzer and Ion Chromatography(IC). The concentrations of nitrate, ammonium, sulfate,primary organic carbon(POC) and secondary organic carbon(SOC) measured by OC/EC and IC analyzers were better correlated with their infrared absorption peak heights at 1320 cm^(-1) for nitrate, 1435, 3045 and 3215 cm^(-1) for ammonium, 615 cm^(-1) for sulfate, 690, 760 and 890 cm^(-1) for POC and 1640 and 1660 cm^(-1) for SOC respectively, during polluted days(PM_(2.5)> 75 μg/m^3) than during clean days(PM_(2.5)≤ 75 μg/m^3). With the evolution of a haze episode during our field campaign, the concentrations of the major PM_(2.5) components displayed consistent variations with their infrared absorption peak heights, suggesting ATR-FTIR could be a fast and useful technique to characterize filter-based PM_(2.5) compositions particularly during pollution events although cautions should be taken when PM_(2.5) levels are low. 8Improvement of tunnel compensated quantum well infrared detector显示文摘To reduce the difficulty of the epitaxy caused by multiple quantum well infrared photodetector(QWIP)with tunnel compensation structure,an improved structure is proposed.In the new structure,the superlattices are located between the tunnel junction and the barrier as the infrared absorption region,eliminating the effect of doping concentration on the well width in the original structure.Theoretical analysis and experimental verification of the new structure are carried out.The experimental sample is a two-cycle device,each cycle contains a tunnel junction,a superlattice infrared absorption region and a thick barrier.The photosurface of the detector is 200×200μm^2 and the light is optically coupled by 45°oblique incidence.The results show that the optimal operating voltage of the sample is-1.1 V,the dark current is 2.99×10^-8A,and the blackbody detectivity is1.352×10^8 cm·Hz^1/2·W^-1at 77 K.Our experiments show that the new structure can work normally.Chaohui Li Jun Deng Weiye Sun Leilei He Jianjun Li Jun Han Yanli Shi 2019Journal of Semiconductors2019,40,12:2
9In-situ growth of ZnS/FeS heterojunctions on biomass-derived porous carbon for efficient oxygen reduction reaction显示文摘It is an urgent task to develop highly efficient non-noble metal electrocatalysts in the direction of ORR,but still a huge and long-term challenge.Herein,an efficient one-step pyrolysis of Sichuan pepper powder,2,2-bipyridine,FeCl3,Na SCN,and ZnCl2 at 900℃ provides the FeS/ZnS@N,S-C-900 hybrid catalyst.Transmission electron microscopy(TEM)images and Mott-Schottky curves clearly reveal the in-situ constructed abundant FeS/ZnS-based p-n junctions dispersed on the biomass-derived porous carbon surface of FeS/ZnS@N,S-C-900.The as-prepared FeS/ZnS@N,S-C-900 hybrid exhibits superior ORR performance in comparison with Pt/C in 0.1 M KOH with high onset(Eonset)and half-wave potentials(E1/2)of 1.00 and 0.880 V vs.RHE,large limiting current density(JL)of 5.60 mA cm-2,and robust durability and methanol tolerance.Impressively,upon the light irradiation,FeS/ZnS@N,S-C-900 produces a photocurrent as high as ca.0.3μA cm-2,resulting in further improvement over Eonset,E1/2,and JLof FeS/ZnS@N,S-C-900 to1.10 V vs.RHE,0.885 V vs.RHE,and 6.02 mA cm-2.Experiment in combination with theoretical calculations demonstrate the significant effect of FeS/ZnS heterojunction on the enhanced ORR catalytic activity of FeS/ZnS@N,S-C-900.This work is useful for the development of advanced heterojunction-based ORR catalysts for various energy conversion devices.Rong Jiang Xin Chen Jinxia Deng Tianyu Wang Kang Wang Yanli Chen Jianzhuang Jiang 2020Journal of Energy Chemistry2020,29,8:2
10Direct Imaging of Titania Nanotubes Located in Mouse Neural Stem Cell Nuclei显示文摘Titania nanotubes(TiO2-NTs)are a potential drug vehicle for use in nanomedicine.To this end,a preliminary study of the interaction of a model cell with TiO2-NTs has been carried out.TiO2-NTs were first conjugated with a fl uorescent label,fl uorescein isothiocyanate(FITC).FITC-conjugated titania nanotubes(FITC-TiO2-NTs)internalized in mouse neural stem cells(NSCs,line C17.2)can be directly imaged by confocal microscopy.The confocal imaging showed that FITC-TiO2-NTs readily entered into the cells.After co-incubation with cells for 24 h,FITC-TiO2-NTs localized around the cell nucleus without crossing the karyotheca.More interestingly,the nanotubes passed through the karyotheca entering the cell nucleus after co-incubation for 48 h.Atomic force microscopy(AFM)and transmission electron microscopy(TEM)were also employed in tracking the nanotubes in the cell.These results will be of benefit in future studies of TiO2-NTs for use as a drug vehicle,particularly for DNA-targeting drugs.Yanli Wang Jia Wang Xiaoyong Deng Jiao Wang Haifang Wang Minghong Wu Zheng Jiao Yuanfang Liu 2009Nano Research2009,2,7:2

12LaConf:A Localized Address Autoconfiguration Scheme for Wireless Ad Hoc Networks显示文摘We propose a localized address autoconfiguration (LaConf) scheme for wireless ad hoc networks.Address allocation information is maintained on the network border nodes,called addressing agents (AAs),which are locally identified by a geographic routing protocol GFG (Greedy-FACE-Greedy).When a node joins the network,it acquires an address from a neighboring AA (if any exists) by local communication or from the head AA (a geographic extreme AA) by GFG-based multi-hop communication.A Geographic Hash Table (GHT) is adopted for duplicate address detection.Each address is hashed to a unique location in the network field,and the associated assignment information is stored along the face perimeter enclosing that location (in the planar graph).When a node receives an address assignment,it consults with the perimeter nodes around the hash location of the assigned address about any conflicts.AAs detect network partitions and merger locally according to neighborhood change and trigger AA re-selection and network re-configuration (if necessary).We propose to apply a Connected Dominating Set (CDS) to improve the performance.We also evaluate LaConf through simulation using different planar graphs.Xu Li Yanli Deng Amiya Nayak Ivan Stojmenovic Venkat Narasimhan 2011Tsinghua Science and Technology2011,16,5:2

20Characterization of hippocampal Cajal-Retzius cells during development in a mouse model of Alzheimer's disease(Tg2576)显示文摘Cajal-Retzius cells are reelin-secreting neurons in the marginal zone of the neocortex and hippocampus.The aim of this study was to investigate Cajal-Retzius cells in Alzheimer's disease pathology.Results revealed that the number of Cajal-Retzius cells markedly reduced with age in both wild type and in mice over-expressing the Swedish double mutant form of amyloid precursor protein 695(transgenic(Tg) 2576 mice).Numerous reelin-positive neurons were positive for activated caspase 3 in Tg2576 mice,suggesting that Cajal-Retzius neuronal loss occurred via apoptosis in this Alzheimer's disease model.Compared with wild type,the number of Cajal-Retzius cells was significantly lower in Tg2576 mice.Western blot analysis confirmed that reelin levels were markedly lower in Tg2576 mice than in wild-type mice.The decline in Cajal-Retzius cells in Tg2576 mice was found to occur concomitantly with the onset of Alzheimer's disease amyloid pathology and related behavioral deficits.Overall,these data indicated that Cajal-Retzius cell loss occurred with the onset and development of Alzheimer's disease.Dongming Yu Wenjuan Fan Ping Wu Jiexin Deng Jing Liu Yanli Niu Mingshan Li Jinbo Deng 2014Neural Regeneration Research2014,9,4:1
