8Treatment and prognosis of hepatic epithelioid hemangioendothelioma based on SEER data analysis from 1973 to 2014显示文摘Background: Hepatic epithelioid hemangioendothelioma (HEH) is a rare tumor of vascular origin with an unknown etiology, a low incidence, and a variable natural course. We evaluated the management and prognosis of HEH from the Surveillance, Epidemiology and End Results (SEER) program and changes in treatment modalities of HEH over 30 years. Methods: From 1973 to 2014 in the SEER database, we selected patients diagnosed with HEH. We analyzed the clinical characteristics, patterns of management, and clinical outcomes of patients with HEH. Results: We identi ed 79 patients with HEH (median age: 54.0 years;male to female ratio: 1:2.6). The initial extent of disease was local in 22 (27.8%) patients, regional metastasis in 22 (27.8%), distant metas-tasis in 31 (39.2%) and unknown in 4 (5.1%). The median size of primary tumor was 3.85 cm (interquartile range, 2.50 7.93 cm). Among 74 patients with available management data, the most common manage-ment was no treatment (29/74, 39.2%), followed by chemotherapy only (22/74, 29.7%), liver resection-based (13/74, 17.6%), and transplantation-based therapy (6/74, 8.1%). The 5-year cancer-speci c survival rate was 57.8%. Patients who underwent surgical treatment had signi cantly higher survival than those who underwent non-surgical treatment (5-year survival;88% vs. 49%, P=0.019). Multivariate analysis revealed that surgical therapy was the only independent prognostic factor for survival (hazard ratio: 0.20, P=0.040). 9Improvement on Mixograph test through water addition and parameter conversions显示文摘To improve Mixograph testing effect, Farinograph measurements were adopted as a quality standard and changes in water absorption and parameter conversion in Mixograph test were explored. Comparative study showed that increasing water absorption to about 73% and converting original parameters to compound parameters in Mixograph tests significantly increased their predictive power for flour quality. These efforts also enabled the adoption of fixed water addition level in Mixograph test and simplified the test procedure significantly. With the success in parameter conversions, Mixograph test results were successfully described by Farinograph parameters, which allow breeders to compare and exchange test results easily. 11Sonohysterography: Principles, technique and role in diagnosis of endometrial pathology显示文摘Sonohysterography (SHG), which provides enhanced endometrial visualization during standard transvaginal ultrasonography, is a relatively safe procedure for the evaluation of endometrial pathology. It can be used to evaluate patients with abnormal vaginal bleeding or infertility. This modality offers real time imaging of the endometrium without exposure to ionizing radiation. SHG is typically used in patients for whom standard transvaginal ultrasonography does not show the endometrium well, show a potential abnormality for which further imaging is required, or in patients without endometrial pathology defined on routine transvaginal imaging but in whom there is a strong clinical suspicion of an abnormality. This article will discuss the utility of the sonohysterogram in evaluation of various endometrial pathologies. 13Extracting typical occupancy schedules from social media (TOSSM) and its integration with building energy modeling显示文摘Building occupancy,one of the most important consequences of occupant behaviors,is a driving influencer for building energy consumption and has been receiving increasing attention in the building energy modeling community.With the vast development of information technologies in the era of the internet-of-things,occupant sensing and data acquisition are not limited to a single node or traditional approaches.The prevalence of social networks provides a myriad of publically available social media data that might contain occupancy information in the space for a given time.In this paper,we explore two approaches to extract the typical occupancy schedules for the input to the building energy simulation based on the data from social networks.The first approach uses text classification algorithms to identify whether people are present in the space where they are posting on social media.On top of that,the typical building occupancy schedules are extracted with assumed people counting rules.The second approach utilizes the processed Global Positioning System(GPS)tracking data provided by social networking service companies such as Facebook and Google Maps.Web scraping techniques are used to obtain and post-process the raw data to extract the typical building occupancy schedules.The results show that the extracted building occupancy schedules from different data sources(Twitter,Facebook,and Google Maps)share a similar trend but are slightly distinct from each other and hence may require further validation and corrections.To further demonstrate the application of the extracted Typical Occupancy Schedules from Social Media(TOSSM),data-driven models for predicting hourly energy usage prediction of a university museum are developed with the integration of TOSSM.The results indicate that the incorporation of TOSSM could improve the hourly energy usage prediction accuracy to a small extent regarding the four adopted evaluation metrics for this museum building.Xing Lu Fan Feng Zhihong Pang Tao Yang Zheng O’Neill 2021Building Simulation2021,14,1:3
14Oligomeric Procyanidins Induce Generation of Reactive Oxygen Species and Collapse of Mitochchondrial Membrane Potential in Glioblastoma Cell Lines显示文摘Objective The aim of the present study was to clarify the mechanism underlying glioma cell death upon oligomeric procyanidins (F2) exposure. Methods The cytotoxicity of F2 on U87 (human malignant glioblastoma cell line) and C6 (rat glioma cell line) cancer cells was evaluated, and changes of mitochondrial membrane potential (MMP) and production of reactive oxygen species (ROS) in drug-treated cells were monitored. Moreover, morphological changes associated with F2-induced cells death were examined. Results F2 induced a concentration-dependent increase in ROS production and decrease in MMP. Furthermore, pre-incubation with N-acetylcysteine (NAC) and rotenone (Rt), resulted in partial inhibition of F2-induced ROS generation and marked attenuation of cell death and the cytoplasmic vacuolization induced by F2. In addition, pretreatment with Rt markedly attenuated the MMP loss in F2-treated cells. However, pretreatment with NAC only markedly attenuated the MMP loss in F2-treated C6 cells.
