| 2 | A new distance correction method for sulfur analysis in coal using online XRF measurement system显示文摘When X-ray fluorescence(XRF)technology is used to measure the sulfur concentration in coal online,the measurement accuracy is affected by the coal’s uneven surface and the particle size.In order to improve the accuracy of sulfur concentration measurement,an online measurement system,consisting of a portable X-ray fluorescence instrument and an auxiliary distance correction module,was developed in this paper.By measuring the standard coal samples of known sulfur concentration,we obtained a calibration curve that can be used to analyze the sulfur concentration.We studied the relationship between the X-ray fluorescence intensity(I)and the distance(D)from surfaces to instrument.The results showed that there was a good linear relationship between I and D when the sulfur content was certain.Based on these knowledge,the distance correction formula of X-ray fluorescence intensity was proposed.By applying the distance correction formula to experimental sulfur concentration measurement,we demonstrated that the measurement accuracy can be significantly increased. | JIA WenBao ZHANG Yan GU ChenGuang HEI DaQian LING YongShen SHAN Qing | 2014 | Science China(Technological Sciences)2014,57,1: | 4 |
| 3 | Recurrent orbital space-occupying lesions:a clinicopathologic study of 253 cases显示文摘Objective:To analyze the clinical features,histopathologic classification and frequencies of various types of recurrent orbital space-occupying lesions.Methods:A retrospective study was carried out in 253 consecutive patients with recurrent orbital spaceoccupying lesions treated by surgical excision in the Institute of Orbital Diseases,the General Hospital of the Armed Police Force from January 2009 to December 2010.Results:The patients included 123 males and 130 females aged 2 to 78 years(mean,36.2 years),and the last recurrence interval after operation ranged from 1 month to 40 years(median,4.75 years).Of all the cases,159(62.8%),65(25.7%),20(7.9%),8(3.2%) and 1(0.4%) had previously experienced once,twice,three,four and six times of surgeries,respectively.Among them,29(11.5%) cases had recurred 3 times or over,and 37(14.6%) cases got recurrence in 10 or more years postoperatively.Most of the patients with local recurrence presented with various clinical manifestations,while 31(12.3%) cases were symptom-free.Two hundred and thirty-one(91.3%) cases underwent surgical removal of the recurrent orbital lesions,and another 22(8.7%) cases had to receive the exenteration of orbit.Categories of these recurrent orbital lesions after operation were as follows:lacrimal gland tumors,65(25.7%) cases;vasogenic diseases,54(21.3%) cases;neurogenic tumors,42(16.6%) cases;secondary tumors,24(9.5%) cases;orbital inflammation,21(8.3%) cases;myogenic tumors,14(5.5%) cases;fibrous and adipose tumors,12(4.7%) cases;lympho-hematopoietic tumors,7(2.8%) cases;bone or cartilage tumors,7(2.8%) cases;orbital cysts,6(2.4%) cases;and indefinitely differentiated tumor,1(0.4%) case.The 10 top histopathologic diagnoses were lacrimal gland pleomorphic adenoma,hemangiolymphangioma,lacrimal gland adenoid cystic carcinoma,meningioma,inflammatory pseudotumor,neurofibroma,sebaceous gland carcinoma,vascular malformation,rhabdomyosarcoma and hemangioma.Conclusions:The variety of recurrent orbital lesions after operation includes mainly of tumors except for vascular malformation and orbital inflammatory lesions.The lacrimal gland epithelial tumor is most prone to relapse after resection,and early and longer-term postoperative follow-up is needed. | Weiqiang Tang Yan Hei Lihua Xiao | 2013 | Chinese Journal of Cancer Research2013,25,4: | 4 |
| 4 | Cystic meconium peritonitis with jejunoileal atresia:Is it associated with unfavorable outcome?显示文摘AIM To compare the outcome between patients with jejunoileal atresia(JIA) associated with cystic meconium peritonitis(CMP) and patients with isolated JIA(JIA without CMP).METHODS A retrospective study was conducted for all neonates with JIA operated in our institute from January 2005 to January 2016.Demographics including the gestation age,sex,birth weight,age at operation,the presence of associated syndrome was recorded.Clinical outcome including the type of operation performed,operative time,the need for reoperation and mortality were studied.The demographics and the outcome between the 2 groups were compared.RESULTS During the study period,53 neonates had JIA underwent operation in our institute.Seventeen neonates(32%) were associated with CMP.There was no statistical difference on the demographics in the two groups.Patients with CMP had earlier operation than patients with isolated JIA(mean 1.4 d vs 3 d,P = 0.038).Primaryanastomosis was performed in 16 patients(94%) with CMP and 30 patients(83%) with isolated JIA(P = 0.269).Patients with CMP had longer operation(mean 190 min vs 154 min,P = 0.004).There were no statistical difference the need for reoperation(3 vs 6,P = 0.606) and mortality(2 vs 1,P = 0.269) between the two groups.CONCLUSION Primary intestinal anastomosis can be performed in94% of patients with JIA associated with CMP.Although patients with CMP had longer operative time,the mortality and reoperation rates were low and were comparable to patients with isolated JIA. | Kin Wai Edwin Chan Kim Hung Lee Hei Yi Vicky Wong Siu Yan Bess Tsui Yuen Shan Wong Kit Yi Kristine Pang Jennifer Wai Cheung Mou Yuk Him Tam | 2017 | World Journal of Clinical Pediatrics2017,6,1: | 3 |

| 6 | Use of laparoscopy as the initial surgical approach of impalpable testes:10-year experience显示文摘AIM: To review the experience in the management of impalpable testes using laparoscopy as the initial approach and the need for inguinal exploration.METHODS: From January 2004 to June 2014, 339 patients with undescended testes underwent operation in our institute. Fifty patients(15%) had impalpable testes. All children with impalpable testes underwent initial laparoscopy. A retrospective review was conducted on this group of patients and the outcome was analyzed.RESULTS: Forty children had unilateral impalpable testis. Ten children had bilateral impalpable testes. Thirty-one children(78%) in the unilateral group underwent subsequent inguinal exploration while 4 children(40%) in the bilateral group underwent inguinal exploration(P < 0.05). Orchidopexy was performed in 16 children(40%) in the unilateral group and 9 children(90%) in the bilateral group(P < 0.05). Regarding the 24 children with unilateral impalpable testis and underwent orchidectomy for testicular nubbin(n = 19) or atrophic testes(n = 2) or has vanishing testes(n = 3); contralateral testicular hypertrophy was noticed in 10(41%). No intra-operative complication was encountered. Two children after staged Fowler-Stephensprocedure and 1 child after inguinal orchidopexy had atrophic testes.CONCLUSION: The use of laparoscopy in children with impalpable testes is a safe procedure and can guide the need for subsequent inguinal exploration. Children with unilateral impalpable testis were associated with an increased need for inguinal exploration after laparoscopy. | 11 | Heparanase-1 is downregulated in chemoradiotherapy orbital rhabdomyosarcoma and relates with tumor growth as well as angiogenesis显示文摘AIM:To determine the role of heparanase-1(HPSE-1)in orbital rhabdomyosarcoma(RMS),and to investigate the feasibility of HPSE-1 targeted therapy for RMS.METHODS:Immunohistochemistry was performed to analyze HPSE-1 expression in 51 cases of orbital RMS patients(including 28 cases of embryonal RMS and 23 cases of alveolar RMS),among whom there were 27 treated and 24 untreated with preoperative chemoradiotherapy.In vitro,studies were conducted to examine the effect of HPSE-1 silencing on RMS cell proliferation and tube formation of human umbilical vein endothelial cells(HUVECs).RD cells(an RMS cell line)and HUVECs were infected with HPSE-1 sh RNA lentivirus at a multiplicity of infection(MOI)of 10 and 30 separately.Real-time PCR and Western blot were applied to detect the m RNA and protein expression levels of HPSE-1.Cell viability of treated or control RD cells was evaluated by cell counting kit-8(CCK-8)assay.Matrigel tube formation assay was used to evaluate the effect of HPSE-1 RNAi on the tube formation of HUVECs.RESULTS:Immunohistochemistry showed that the expression rate of HPSE-1 protein was 92.9%in orbital embr yonal RMS and 91.3%in orbital alveolar RMS.Tissue from alveolar orbital RMS did not show relatively stronger staining than that from the embryonal orbital RMS.However,despite the types of RMS,comparing the cases treated chemoradiotherapy with those untreated,we have observed that chemoradiotherapy resulted in weaker staining in patients’tissues.The expression levels of HPSE-1 declined significantly in both the m RNA and protein levels in HPSE-1 sh RNA transfected RD cells.The CCK-8 assay showed that lentivirus-mediated HPSE-1 silencing resulted in significantly reduced RD cells viability in vitro.Silencing HPSE-1 expression also inhibited VEGF-induced tube formation of HUVECs in Matrigel.CONCLUSION:HPSE-1 silencing may be a promising therapy for the inhibition of orbital RMS progression. | Wei-Qiang Tang Yan Hei Jing Lin | 2022 | International Journal of Ophthalmology(English edition)2022,15,1: | 0 |
| 12 | Field Evaluation of Alternative Testing Strategies for the Detection of HIV Infection in Beijing显示文摘Objective To identify a cost-efficient alternative antibody testing strategy for screening and confirmation of HIV infection by rapid simple tests(RSTs)and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays(ELISAs).Methods Four RSTs(RST1,RST2,RST3,and RST4)and five ELISAs(ELISA1,ELISA2,ELISA3,ELISA4,and ELISA5)were evaluated in two phases by using banked and serum specimens prospectively collected at regional hospitals and voluntary counseling and testing(VCT)centers in Beijing.A total of 200 banked serum specimens were included in the first phase,including 62 HIV-positive,127 HIV-negative and 11 indeterminate specimens.All specimens were tested by four RSTs and five ELISAs respectively.The second phase involved prospective testing of 389 routine specimens,including 92 HIV-positive,287 HIV-negative,and 10 indeterminate specimens.All the specimens were tested by two RSTs(RST2 and RST4)and three ELISAs(ELISA1,ELISA3,and ELISA4),which were selected for their respective excellent sensitivity and/or specificity.Western blot(WB)was used as a gold standard for confirming the reactivity of all the specimens.Results Sensitivity,specificity,and efficacy were calculated for each assay in two phases.In the first phase,four assays(ELISA4,RST2,RST3,and RST4)had a specificity of 100%.For the determination of efficacy,ELISA4,RST2,and RST4 were selected in the second phase.ELISA1 and ELISA3 which have a sensitivity of 95.9% and 93.2% respectively also entered this phase.In the second phase,all the five assays(ELISA1,ELISA3,ELISA4,RST2,and RST4)had a sensitivity and specifity of over 90%.ELISA1 had a sensitivity of 99% and ELISA4 a specificity of 99%.Conclusion The sensitivity ELISA1 and the specificit of ELISA4 are comparable to ELISA/WB standard strategy.Application of this alternative testing strategy provides a cost-effective method for determining HIV prevalence in Beijing. | FA-XIN HEI YAN JIANG WEI-DONG SUN QI-YUN ZHANG QIN ZHANG JING-RONG YE HAI-LIN LIU HONG-YAN LU AND XIONG HE | 2007 | Biomedical and Environmental Sciences2007,20,4: | 0 |
| 13 | Genotyping of strains of Yersinia pestis from Marmota baibacina-Spermophilus undulates Plague Focus of Tianshan Mountains in China显示文摘The airn of this study is to carry out genotyping of 61 Y.pestis strains isolated from Marmota baibacina-Spermophilus undulates Plague Focus of Tianshan Mountains in China. Primer pairs targeting the 22 DFRs were designed for detecting the genotypes of 61 strains. As a result, 61 strains of Y.pestis were divided into four genotypes 1, 2, 3, and 4. Genotypes 1, 2 and 3 were found from west part in Northern Tianshan Mountains Plague Focus, but type 1 was only from Nileke county. The type of strains from Aheqi was different from those of Atushi counties in Southern Tianshan Mountains and similar to strains in Northern Tianshan Mountains Plague Focus. The type 4 distributed over Atushi county, which was identical with that of strains from Marmota caudae Plague Focus of the Pamiri Plateau. It is concluded that geonotyping is identical with ecotyping made by Shuli Ji.
