| 2 | An efficient semi-blind source extraction algorithm and its applications to biomedical signal extraction显示文摘In many applications, such as biomedical engineering, it is often required to extract a desired signal instead of all source signals. This can be achieved by blind source extraction (BSE) or semi-blind source extraction, which is a powerful technique emerging from the neural network field. In this paper, we propose an efficient semi-blind source extraction algorithm to extract a desired source signal as its first output signal by using a priori information about its kurtosis range. The algorithm is robust to outliers and spiky noise because of adopting a classical robust contrast function. And it is also robust to the estimation errors of the kurtosis range of the desired signal providing the estimation errors are not large. The algorithm has good extraction performance, even in some poor situations when the kurtosis values of some source signals are very close to each other. Its convergence stability and robustness are theoretically analyzed. | 5 | Multiscale analysis of Asian Monsoon over the past 640 ka显示文摘The empirical mode decomposition(EMD) method is used to re-analyse the high-resolution and precisely-dated stalagmite record from Chinese caves over the past 640 ka. Results show that(1) the variation in the Asian Monsoon can be completely decomposed into ten quasiperiod oscillations, among which the precession and semiprecession band oscillations are the most prominent periodicities, with contribution rates of 31.1% and 30.7%, respectively;(2) the cross-spectrum analysis of the semiprecession component and bi-hemisphere insolation(BHI) are strongly correlated, indicating an amplified response of precipitation and temperature variability to the interhemispheric insolation in the low-latitude regions, thus further affecting the intensity of the Asian Monsoon;(3) on millennial timescales, obvious oscillations at the 5 ka and 1–2 ka bands roughly correspond to the classical Bond and Dansgaard-Oeschger(DO) cycles. Additionally, a strong correlation is found between the detrended stalagmite δ18 O records and Ca/Sr sequence from the North Atlantic(especially at the 5 ka band). | 9 | Relationship between groundwater cadmium and vicinity resident urine cadmium levels in the non-ferrous metal smelting area,China显示文摘Cadmium(Cd)has received widespread attention owing to its persistent toxicity and non-degradability.Cd in the human body is mainly absorbed from the external environment and is usually assessed using urinary Cd.Hunan Province is the heartland of the Chinese non-ferrous mining area,where several serious Cd pollution events have occurred,including high levels of Cd in the urine of residents.However,the environmental factors influencing high urinary Cd levels(UCLs)in nearby residents remain unclear.Therefore,211 nearby residents’UCLs and the corresponding sociological characteristics from nine groundwater samples in this area were analyzed using statistical analysis models.Groundwater Cd concentration ranged from 0.02 to 1.15μg/L,aligning with class III of the national standard;the range of UCL of nearby residents was 0.37–36.60μg/L,exceeding the national guideline of 0–2.5μg/L.Groundwater Cd levels were positively correlated with the UCL(P<0.001,correlation coefficient 95%CI=9.68,R^(2)=0.06).In addition,sociological characteristics,such as smoking status and education level,also affect UCL.All results indicate that local governments should strengthen the prevention and abatement of groundwater Cd pollution.This study is the first to systematically evaluate the relationship between groundwater Cd and UCL using internal and external environmental exposure data.These findings provide essential bases for relevant departments to reduce Cd exposure in regions where the heavy metal industry is globally prevalent. | Yujie Pan Yalan Li Hongxia Peng Yiping Yang Min Zeng Yang Xie Yao Lu Hong Yuan | 2023 | Frontiers of Environmental Science & Engineering2023,17,5: | 0 |
| 10 | Genome-wide association study identifies 12 new genetic loci associated with growth traits in pigs显示文摘Growth traits are among the most important economic traits in pigs and are regulated by polygenes with complex regulatory mechanisms.As the major indicators of growth performance,the backfat thickness(BFT),loin eye area(LEA),and days to 100 kg(D100)traits are commonly used to the genetics improvement in pigs.However,the available genetic markers for these traits are limited.To uncover novel loci and candidate genes associated with growth performance,we collected the phenotypic information of BFT,LEA,and D100 in 1,186 pigs and genotyped all these individuals using the Neogen GGP porcine 80K BeadChip.We performed a genome-wide association study(GWAS)using 4 statistical models,including mixed linear models(MLM),fixed and random model circulating probability unification(FarmCPU),settlement of MLM under progressively exclusive relationships(SUPER),Bayesian-information and linkage-disequilibrium Iteratively nested keyway(Blink),and identified 5,3,and 6 high-confidence single nucleotide polymorphisms(SNPs)associated with BFT,LEA,and D100,respectively.Variant annotation and quantitative trait locus(QTL)mapping analysis suggested that6 genes(SKAP2,SATB1,PDE7B,PPP1R16B,WNT3,and WNT9B)were potentially associated with growth performance in pigs.Transcriptome analysis suggested that the expression of Src Kinase Associated Phosphoprotein 2(SKAP2)was higher in prenatal muscles than in postnatal muscles,and the expression of Phosphodiesterase 7B(PDE7B)continuously increased during the prenatal stages and gradually decreased after birth,implying their potential roles in prenatal skeletal muscle development.Overall,this study provides new candidate loci and genes for the genetic improvement of pigs. | Mu Zeng Binhu Wang Lei Liu Yalan Yang Zhonglin Tang | 2024 | Journal of Integrative Agriculture2024,23,1: | 0 |
