Three independent parameters to describe conventional triaxial compressive strength of intact rocks显示文摘The strengths of 12 rocks cited from literatures increase in a nonlinear way with increasing confining pressure against the Coulomb criterion. The criteria with power forms like the generalized Hoek-Brown criterion are not available for describing the strength properties in the whole test range for Indiana limestone, Yamaguchi marble and Vosges sandstone, of which the differential stresses are approximately constant at high confining pressures. The exponential criterion with three parameters fits the test data of those 12 rocks well with a low misfit. The three parameters are independent of the uniaxial compressive strength (UCS), the initial increasing rate of strength with confining pressure, and the limitation of differential stress. | Mingqing You | 2010 | Journal of Rock Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering2010,2,4: | 11
Strength and damage of marble in ductile failure显示文摘To study the effects of loading paths and stress states on rock strength and deformation, marble specimens were axially compressed to various displacements under a confining pressure (CP) firstly, and then the damaged specimens were recompressed under another CP. The bearing capacity of a marble specimen depends merely on CP at the stage of ductile deformation, and it has no relation with the loading history when CP keeps constant or increases. However, the damaged specimen turns into brittle when it is recompressed uniaxially or at a lower CP, and the Young's modulus and strength are lower than those of a dense specimen. The increasing ratio of triaxial strength to CP has a close relation with the areas of fissures in the damaged specimens but not the internal friction angle. Material strength and bearing capacity are two different conceptions for rocks. Material strength decreases continually as the plastic deformation increases; however, the bearing capacity is determined by both the stress state and the material strength. | Mingqing You School of Energy Science and Engineering, Henan Polytechnic University, Jiaozuo, 454010, China | 2011 | Journal of Rock Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering2011,3,2: | 4

Strength criterion for rocks under compressive-tensile stresses and its application显示文摘Estimating in-situ stress with hydraulic borehole fracturing involves tensile strength of rock. Several strength criteria with three parameters result in tensile strengths with great differences, although they may describe the relation between strength of rock and confining pressure with low misfits. The exponential criterion provides acceptable magnitudes of tensile strengths for granites and over-estimates that for other rocks, but the criterion with tension cut-off is applicable to all rocks. The breakdown pressure will be lower than the shut-in pressure during hydraulic borehole fracturing, when the maximum horizontal principal stress is 2 times larger than the minor one; and it is not the peak value in the first cycle, but the point where the slope of pressure-time curve begins to decline. | Mingqing You | 2015 | Journal of Rock Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering2015,7,4: | 1

On Environmental Quality Standards and Finding of Liability for Environmental Pollution Torts显示文摘Though bearing technical and legal attributes, environmental quality standards are neither rules nor regulatory documents. With the binding force coming from the legal norms where they are cited, environmental quality standards are designed and implemented as a yardstick for measuring environmental quality. They also play a role in the functions of goal setting, merit appraisals, inspiration, supervision and accountability in conjunction with the legal norms and administrative plans where they are cited.Characteristically, environmental quality standards adopt sort management in concept, take holistic values and methodologies, establish phased goals and accept the resulting policy choices. These standards are not applicable to determine tort liability caused by environmental pollution from the perspective of legal norms but provide limited evidence for finding the same in the view of factual analysis by delivering scientific support to prove negative effects on the environment.Hence, environmental quality standards do contribute to finding torts, thus making the production of evidence less difficult. Also, they can be used to prove the relevance between torts and damage. | You Mingqing Yi Xin | 2019 | Contemporary Social Sciences2019,4,5: | 0
Study of a low-disturbance pressure-preserving corer and its coring performance in deep coal mining conditions显示文摘With the increasing depth of coal mining, the requirements for coring devices that maintain pressure are increasing. To adapt to the special environment in deep coal seams and improve the accuracy of testing gas content,a low-disturbance pressure-preserving corer was developed. The measurement of gas content using this corer was analyzed. The coring test platform was used to complete a coring function test.A pressurized core with a diameter of 50 mm was obtained. The pressure was 0.15 MPa,which was equal to the pressure of the liquid column of the cored layer, indicating that the corer can be successfully used in a mud environment.Next,a pressure test of the corer was conducted. The results showed that under conditions of low pressure(8 MPa)and high pressure(25 MPa),the internal pressure of the corer remained stable for more than 1 h,indicating that the corer has good ability to maintain pressure. Therefore, the corer can be applied at deep coal mine sites. The results of this research can be used to promote the safe exploitation of deep coal mines and the exploitation of methane resources in coalbeds. | Wei Huang Jianan Li Zhiqiang Liu Mingqing Yang Zhenxi You Heping Xie | 2023 | International Journal of Mining Science and Technology2023,33,11: | 0
A holistic approach to creating a new yangtze river basin protection legislation显示文摘The protection of the Yangtze River Basin is a top priority in China, and the National People's Congress(NPC)Standing Committee has started to draft a new protection legislation specifically for the Yangtze River Basin. The Basin forms the epicenter of environmental, social, and economic life.Any efforts to protect the Basin must accommodate several competing interests from a multiplicity of interested parties and stakeholders such as local governments, villages, and business enterprises.Current relevant institutions and organizations are unable to sufficiently ensure environmental protection and green development in the Basin. The NPC Standing Committee must thus adopt a more holistic approach when creating new protection legislations aimed at the Yangtze River Basin. | Zhongmei Lv Mingqing You | 2020 | Chinese Journal of Population,Resources and Environment2020,18,3: | 0
Discussion on “A generalized three-dimensional failure criterion for rock masses”显示文摘There are many methods to construct true triaxial strength criteria for rocks.Jaiswal and Shrivastva(2012)proposed a strength criterion, named J–S criterion,in the deviatoric plane, which provides nearly the same misfts for true triaxial test data as the exponential criterion. It is diffcult to calculate the strength at given2and3using the J–S criterion, and the multiple solutions to the nonlinear equation may induce confusion and mistake.Strength envelopes in deviatoric planes are not geometric similar;therefore, true triaxial test data cannot be grouped in the mean stress to check strength criteria in the deviatoric plane. | Mingqing You | 2013 | Journal of Rock Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering2013,5,5: | 0
