1Lipid layer thickness and tear meniscus height measurements for the differential diagnosis of evaporative dry eye subtypes显示文摘AIM: To explore a new diagnostic index for differentiating the evaporative dry eye(EDE) subtypes by analysis of their respective clinical characteristics. METHODS: A cross-sectional study of 139 patients(139 eyes) with EDE who were enrolled and classified as obstructive meibomian gland dysfunction(MGD)(n=81) and non-obstructive MGD(n=58) EDE. All patients completed a Standard Patient Evaluation of Eye Dryness(SPEED) questionnaire and were evaluated for average lipid layer thickness(LLT), tear meniscus height measurements(TMH), tear break-up time(TBUT), ocular surface staining score, Schirmer I test(SIT), lid margin abnormalities, and meibomian gland function and morphology. RESULTS: Age, average LLT, TMH, scores of lid margin abnormalities, meibum quality, meibomian gland loss(MGL)(all P≤0.001), and TBUT(P=0.03) were all significantly different between obstructive MGD EDE patients and nonobstructive MGD EDE patients. Average LLT in obstructive MGD EDE was correlated with meibomian expressibility(r=-0.541, P≤0.001), lid margin abnormalities were marginally not significant(r=0.197, P=0.077), and TMH was correlated with MGL(total MGL: r=0.552, P≤0.001; upper MGL: r=0.438, P≤0.001; lower MGL: r=0.407, P≤0.001). Average LLT in non-obstructive MGD EDE, was correlated with meibomian expressibility and Oxford staining(r=-0.396, P=0.002; r=-0.461, P≤0.001). The efficiency of combining average LLT and TMH was optimal, with a sensitivity of 80.2% and a specificity of 74.1%. Obstructive MGD EDE patients had an average LLT≥69 nm and TMH≥0.25 mm, while non-obstructive MGD EDE patients had an average LLT<69 nm and TMH<0.25 mm.CONCLUSION: Obstructive MGD EDE and nonobstructive MGD EDE have significantly different clinical characteristics. 3功能化SBA-15介孔材料的制备及其吸附性能研究显示文摘硅基介孔材料因其特有的特性,被用于去除废水中重金属离子的吸附剂.为了提高对目标污染物的吸附容量,本文采用一步法和两步法制备了氨基或巯基功能化SBA-15介孔材料,利用傅里叶红外光谱仪、场发射扫描电镜、X射线衍射仪和氮气吸附脱附表征测试了材料的化学组成、微观形貌和物相结构.测试结果显示经功能化处理后的样品成功地接枝氨基或巯基功能基团.研究发现,经功能化处理后,材料的骨架结构及介孔孔道均未被破坏,但有序性下降且出现少许团聚,物性参数也有一定程度下降,功能化材料对Zn^(2+)、Pb^(2+)、Cr^(3+)和Cu^(2+)的吸附率均有大幅度提高.经氨基或巯基功能化后,SBA-15介孔材料对水体中重金属离子的吸附率有很大提高,但一步法制备的功能化硅基介孔材料因模板剂去除不彻底而影响了对重金属离子的吸附效率,两步法制备的功能化硅基介孔材料对重金属离子的吸附效果更好,说明本文的功能化硅基介孔材料工艺是可行有效的,但两步法合成的功能化介孔材料具有更好的吸附效果.廖庆玲 NGUYEN Xuan Sang 侯静涛 陈跃 冯伟 何忠忠 2018材料科学与工艺2018,26,5:6
4Low concentration of sodium hyaluronate temporarily elevates the tear film lipid layer thickness in dry eye patients with lipid deficiency显示文摘AIM: To investigate the effects of different concentrations of artificial tears on lipid layer thickness(LLT) and blink rate(BR) in dry eye patients.METHODS: This study included 106 eyes of 58 patients with dry eye. The lipid deficiency type was defined as the LLT baseline <75 nm. The LLT and BR were measured at baseline and 1, 5 and 15 min after the instillation of 0.1% or 0.3% sodium hyaluronate(SH) eye drops by using the LipiV iew ocular surface interferometer. RESULTS: In the lipid deficiency group, the LLT increased from baseline at 1 min post instillation. The LLT after the instillation of 0.1% SH was significantly higher than that after the instillation of 0.3% SH(P<0.001). The LLT returned to baseline at 15 min post instillation of 0.1% SH and at 5 min post instillation of 0.3% SH. In the non-lipid deficiency group, the LLT decreased from baseline at 1 min and returned to baseline at 5 min for both treatments. The BRs were not significantly different at different time points for both treatments.CONCLUSION: SH eye drops induce a short-term increase in LLT of patients with lipid deficiency. A low concentration of artificial tears have a stronger effect than a high concentration of artificial tears on the increase in LLT. In comparison, SH eye drops induce a transient and slight decrease in LLT of patients without lipid deficiency. 6Oil accumulation related to migration of source kitchens in the Lukeqin structural belt, Turpan-Hami Basin, China显示文摘The Lukeqin structural belt is the main heavy oil accumulation zone in the Turpan-Hami Basin. The recent discovery of light oil in the Triassic indicates that there may be multiple source kitchens contributing to the oil accumulation. According to oil geochemical analysis and oil-source correlation, the oil in deep and shallow reservoirs of the Lukeqin Oilfield presents different physical and saturated hydrocarbon mass spectrum characteristics. The Triassic heavy oil is from the northern Upper Permian lacustrine source rocks, and the light oil represented by the Yudong-9 Well is from the northwestern Lower Jurassic coal-measure source rocks. The timing of oil charging was determined by K/Ar isotope dating, reservoir fluid inclusion analysis and the evolution history of different source rocks. In summary, the accumulation process consists of two stages. From the end of Triassic to early Jurassic, the northern Permian source kitchen generated a considerable amount of oil, which was finally degraded to heavy oil, migrated to the south and then accumulated. The northwestern Jurassic coal-measure source kitchen began to generate oil at the end of Cretaceous, while the northern source kitchen could only generate a little hydrocarbon. The heavy oil and the light oil have different source rock locations, migration directions and accumulation times. 10Hierarchical macro-microporous WPU-ECM scaffolds combined with Microfracture Promote in Situ Articular Cartilage Regeneration in Rabbits显示文摘Tissue engineering provides a promising avenue for treating cartilage defects.However,great challenges remain in the development of structurally and functionally optimized scaffolds for cartilage repair and regeneration.In this study,decellularized cartilage extracellular matrix(ECM)and waterborne polyurethane(WPU)were employed to construct WPU and WPU-ECM scaffolds by water-based 3D printing using low-temperature deposition manufacturing(LDM)system,which combines rapid deposition manufacturing with phase separation techniques.The scaffolds successfully achieved hierarchical macro-microporous structures.After adding ECM,WPU scaffolds were markedly optimized in terms of porosity,hydrophilia and bioactive components.Moreover,the optimized WPU-ECM scaffolds were found to be more suitable for cell distribution,adhesion,and proliferation than the WPU scaffolds.Most importantly,the WPU-ECM scaffold could facilitate the production of glycosaminoglycan(GAG)and collagen and the upregulation of cartilage-specific genes.These results indicated that the WPU-ECM scaffold with hierarchical macro-microporous structures could recreate a favorable microenvironment for cell adhesion,proliferation,differentiation,and ECM production.In vivo studies further revealed that the hierarchical macro-microporous WPU-ECM scaffold combined with the microfracture procedure successfully regenerated hyaline cartilage in a rabbit model.Six months after implantation,the repaired cartilage showed a similar histological structure and mechanical performance to that of normal cartilage.In conclusion,the hierarchical macro-microporous WPU-ECM scaffold may be a promising candidate for cartilage tissue engineering applications in the future.Mingxue Chen YangYang Li Shuyun Liu Zhaoxuan Feng Hao Wang Dejin Yang Weimin Guo Zhiguo Yuan Shuang Gao Yu Zhang Kangkang Zha Bo Huang Fu Wei Xinyu Sang Qinyu Tian Xuan Yang Xiang sui Yixin Zhou Yufeng Zheng Quanyi Guo 2021Bioactive Materials2021,6,7:1

12Flexible and breathable 3D porous SSE/MXene foam towards impact/electromagnetic interference/bacteria multiple protection performance for intelligent wearable devices显示文摘As intelligent wearable devices,they will inevitably be subjected to various damages and disturbances from the external environment during daily use.Therefore,it is urgent to develop safeguarding materials with multiple protective properties.Herein,this work developed a flexible and breathable three-dimensional(3D)porous shear stiffening elastomer(SSE)/MXene(M-SSE)foam with impact/electromagnetic interference(EMI)/bacteria multiple protection performance for intelligent wearable devices.The continuous conductive MXene network in the 3D SSE porous structure made M-SSE foam exhibit excellent electromagnetic interference shielding property with a high shielding effectiveness of 34 dB.Attributed to the shear stiffening effect of porous SSE matrix,M-SSE foam possessed unique anti-impact and protection properties.The energy dissipation rate reached up to more than 85%,illustrating M-SSE foam could effectively attenuate the external impact force and absorb the impact energy.Inherited from the excellent photothermal performance of MXene,M-SSE foam achieved a considerable saturated temperature of 98℃ under 0.57 W/cm^(2) laser power.Therefore,M-SSE foam showed extraordinary antimicrobial property for Staphylococcus aureus according to the principle of photothermal sterilization.Finally,for the development of intelligent wearable devices,conductive MSSE foam could be used as an intelligent sensor to monitor various human movements owing to the highly sensitive property.This work greatly expanded the application prospect of multifunctional protective materials in various complex environments and promoted the development of multifunctional smart wearable devices in protection field.Min Sang Shuai Liu Jianpeng Wu Xinyi Wang Junshuo Zhang Yunqi Xu Yu Wang Jun Li Ji Li Shouhu Xuan Xinglong Gong 2023Nano Research2023,16,7:1

14Ion Transport Mechanism in ClC-Type Channel Protein under Complex Electrostatic Potential显示文摘In order to illustrate the ion transport mechanism of chloride channel(Cl C) protein,a type of Cl C protein,Cl C-ec1,from Escherichia coli is embedded into an explicit membranewater system by using software VMD. Then a parallel molecular dynamics(MD) simulation is employed to equilibrate the Cl C-ec1 structure for 27.5 ns at temperature 298.15 K. Based on this equilibrated structure,we compute the channel geometric size variation and electrostatic potential distribution along the channel. Meanwhile,Cl^- transport process is simulated using oriented random walk method under variable external potential. The simulation result shows that Cl^- transport velocity depends on the width of the narrowest channel region. Mutation of negative glutamate E148 can produce positive potential,which is beneficial for Cl^- transport,around external Cl^- binding region in the channel. 16Tail spillover effects between cryptocurrencies and uncertainty in the gold,oil,and stock markets显示文摘This study investigates tail dependence among five major cryptocurrencies,namely Bitcoin,Ethereum,Litecoin,Ripple,and Bitcoin Cash,and uncertainties in the gold,oil,and equity markets.Using the cross-quantilogram method and quantile connectedness approach,we identify cross-quantile interdependence between the analyzed variables.Our results show that the spillover between cryptocurrencies and volatility indices for the major traditional markets varies substantially across quantiles,implying that diversification benefits for these assets may differ widely across normal and extreme market conditions.Under normal market conditions,the total connectedness index is moderate and falls below the elevated values observed under bearish and bullish market conditions.Moreover,we show that under all market conditions,cryptocurrencies have a leadership influence over the volatility indices.Our results have important policy implications for enhancing financial stability and deliver valuable insights for deploying volatility-based financial instruments that can potentially provide cryptocurrency investors with suitable hedges,as we show that cryptocurrency and volatility markets are insignificantly(weakly)connected under normal(extreme)market conditions.Walid Mensi Mariya Gubareva Hee‑Un Ko Xuan Vinh Vo Sang Hoon Kang 2023Financial Innovation2023,9,1:0
17Defects and asymmetries in the visual pathway of non-human primates with natural strabismus and amblyopia显示文摘Strabismus and amblyopia are common ophthalmologic developmental diseases caused by abnormal visual experiences. However, the underlying pathogenesis and visual defects are still not fully understood. Most studies have used experimental interference to establish diseaseassociated animal models, while ignoring the natural pathophysiological mechanisms. This study was designed to investigate whether natural strabismus and amblyopia are associated with abnormal neurological defects. We screened one natural strabismic monkey(Macaca fascicularis) and one natural amblyopic monkey from hundreds of monkeys, and retrospectively analyzed one human strabismus case. Neuroimaging, behavioral,neurophysiological, neurostructural, and genovariation features were systematically evaluated using magnetic resonance imaging(MRI), behavioral tasks, flash visual evoked potentials(FVEP),electroretinogram(ERG), optical coherence tomography(OCT), and whole-genome sequencing(WGS), respectively. Results showed that the strabismic patient and natural strabismic and amblyopic monkeys exhibited similar abnormal asymmetries in brain structure, i.e., ipsilateral impaired right hemisphere. Visual behavior, visual function, retinal structure, and fundus of the monkeys were impaired. Aberrant asymmetry in binocular visual function and structure between the strabismic and amblyopic monkeys was closely related, with greater impairment of the left visual pathway.Several similar known mutant genes for strabismus and amblyopia were also identified. In conclusion,natural strabismus and amblyopia are accompanied by abnormal asymmetries of the visual system,especially visual neurophysiological and neurostructural defects. 18Spatio-temporal Variation Characteristics of Extreme Climate Events and Their Teleconnections to Large-scale Ocean-atmospheric Circulation Patterns in Huaihe River Basin,China During 1959–2019显示文摘Huaihe River Basin(HRB) is located in China’s north-south climatic transition zone,which is very sensitive to global climate change.Based on the daily maximum temperature,minimum temperature,and precipitation data of 40 meteorological stations and nine monthly large-scale ocean-atmospheric circulation indices data during 1959–2019,we present an assessment of the spatial and temporal variations of extreme temperature and precipitation events in the HRB using nine extreme climate indices,and analyze the teleconnection relationship between extreme climate indices and large-scale ocean-atmospheric circulation indices.The results show that warm extreme indices show a significant(P < 0.05) increasing trend,while cold extreme indices(except for cold spell duration) and diurnal temperature range(DTR) show a significant decreasing trend.Furthermore,all extreme temperature indices show significant mutations during 1959-2019.Spatially,a stronger warming trend occurs in eastern HRB than western HRB,while maximum 5-d precipitation(Rx5day) and rainstorm days(R25) show an increasing trend in the southern,central,and northwestern regions of HRB.Arctic oscillation(AO),Atlantic multidecadal oscillation(AMO),and East Atlantic/Western Russia(EA/WR) have a stronger correlation with extreme climate indices compared to other circulation indices.AO and AMO(EA/WR) exhibit a significant(P < 0.05) negative(positive)correlation with frost days and diurnal temperature range.Extreme warm events are strongly correlated with the variability of AMO and EA/WR in most parts of HRB,while extreme cold events are closely related to the variability of AO and AMO in eastern HRB.In contrast,AMO,AO,and EA/WR show limited impacts on extreme precipitation events in most parts of HRB.YAO Tian ZHAO Qiang WU Chuanhao HU Xiaonong XIA Chuan'an WANG Xuan SANG Guoqiang LIU Jian WANG Haijun 2024Chinese Geographical Science2024,34,1:0
