2Restoration of electrical microenvironment enhances bone regeneration under diabetic conditions by modulating macrophage polarization显示文摘Macrophage-mediated inflammation compromises bone repair in diabetic patients.Electrical signaling cues are known to regulate macrophage functions.However,the biological effects of electrical microenvironment from charged biomaterials on the immune response for regulating osteogenesis under diabetic conditions remain to be elucidated.Herein the endogeneous electrical microenvironment of native bone tissue was recapitulated by fabricating a ferroelectric BaTiO_(3)/poly(vinylidene fluoridetrifluoroethylene)(BTO/P(VDF-TrFE))nanocomposite membrane.In vitro,the polarized BaTiO_(3)/poly(vinylidene fluoridetrifluoroethylene)(BTO/P(VDF-TrFE))nanocomposite membranes inhibited high glucose-induced M1-type inflammation,by effecting changes in cell morphology,M1 marker expression and pro-inflammatory cytokine secretion in macrophages.This led to enhanced osteogenic differentiation of human bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells(BM-MSCs).In vivo,the biomimetic electrical microenvironment recapitulated by the polarized nanocomposite membranes switched macrophage phenotype from the pro-inflammatory(M1)into the pro-healing(M2)phenotype,which in turn enhanced bone regeneration in rats with type 2 diabetes mellitus.Mechanistic studies revealed that the biomimetic electrical microenvironment attenuated pro-inflammatory M1 macrophage polarization under hyperglycemic conditions by suppressing expression of AKT2 and IRF5 within the PI3K-AKT signaling pathway,thereby inducing favorable osteo-immunomodulatory effects.Our study thus provides fundamental insights into the biological effects of restoring the electrical microenvironment conducive for osteogenesis under DM conditions,and offers an effective strategy to design functionalized biomaterials for bone regeneration therapy in diabetic patients.Xiaohan Dai Boon Chin Heng Yunyang Bai Fuping You Xiaowen Sun Yiping Li Zhangui Tang Mingming Xu Xuehui Zhang Xuliang Deng 2021Bioactive Materials2021,6,7:9

4UV/H2O2 oxidation of tri(2-chloroethyl) phosphate: Intermediate products, degradation pathway and toxicity evaluation显示文摘Tri(2-chloroethyl) phosphate(TCEP) with the initial concentration of 5 mg/L was degraded by UV/H2O2 oxidation process. The removal rate of TCEP in the UV/H2O2 system was 89.1% with the production of Cl-and PO4^3- of 0.23 and 0.64 mg/L. The removal rate of total organic carbon of the reaction was 48.8% and the pH reached 3.3 after the reaction. The oxidative degradation process of TCEP in the UV/H2O2 system obeyed the first order kinetic reaction with the apparent rate constant of 0.0025 min^-1( R^2 = 0.9788). The intermediate products were isolated and identified by gas chromatography-mass spectrometer. The addition reaction of HO · and H2O and the oxidation reaction with H2O2 were found during the degradation pathway of 5 mg/L TCEP in the UV/H2O2 system. For the first time, environment risk was estimated via the 'ecological structure activity relationships' program and acute and chronic toxicity changes of intermediate products were pointed out. The luminescence inhibition rate of photobacterium was used to evaluate the acute toxicity of intermediate products. The results showed that the toxicity of the intermediate products increased with the increase of reaction time, which may be due to the production of chlorine compounds. 7Nanostructured strategies towards boosting organic lithium-ion batteries显示文摘Pursuing material development for next-generation batteries,organic electrode materials have shown great potential for lithium-ion batteries.However,their widespread adopting is plagued by intrinsic problems such as poor electronic conductivity,high dissolution inside electrolytes and unstable chemical peculiarity.Recently,nanostructured-strategies promoted organic electrodes with exotic properties for enhancing electron and ion transport together with the stability during electrochemical process,have received increasing attention and have been extensive applied in boosting the organic lithium-ion based energy storage.In this review,we summarize the applications of nanostructures to improve the performance of both organic anodes and cathodes,including(i)nanoscale design of zero-dimensional organic electrode materials,(ii)strategies of one-dimensional nanostructured organic electrode materials,(iii)construction of two-dimensional nanosized organic composite electrodes,and(iv)three-dimensional exploration of nanosized organic electrodes.We hope to stimulate high-quality applied research on understanding and handling the relationship between the nanostructure and performance of organic lithium-ion batteries that might speed up the commercialization of organic lithium ion batteries.Yujing Liu Guoyuan Sun Xiaohan Cai Fan Yang Cong Ma Min Xue Xinyong Tao 2021Journal of Energy Chemistry2021,30,3:2
8Special interstitial route can transport nanoparticles to the brain bypassing the blood-brain barrier显示文摘Nowadays,nanoparticles(NPs)are considered to be ideal tools for bioimaging and drug delivery.Although increasing research has focused on NP biodistribution,transportation in the interstitial architecture has been neglected.The entire body is connected by the interstitial architecture,which can provide a long-range and direct pathway for NP biodistribution in a nonvascular system.In this study,we report that 10-nm gold NPs injected directly into the interstitial architecture of the tarsal tunnel of rats(intervaginal space injection(ISI))were delivered to the brain without crossing the blood-brain barrier.Furthermore,NaGdF4 nanoparticles were used to explore the transportation route by magnetic resonance imaging.The results demonstrated that,after ISI,the NaGdF4 nanoparticles were transported through the perivascular interstitial space of the carotid arteries and brain vessels to the brain.This is a special nonvascular transportation route like a stream based on the interstitial architecture that provides an alternative pathway for NP biodistribution.Nan Hu Xiaoli Shi Qiang Zhang Wentao Liu Yuting Zhu Yuqing Wang Yi Hou Yinglu Ji Yupeng Cao Qian Zeng Zhuo Ao Quanmei Sun Xiaohan Zhou Xiaochun Wu Dong Han 2019Nano Research2019,12,11:2
9Strigolactones interact with other phytohormones to modulate plant root growth and development显示文摘Strigolactones(SLs),which are biosynthesized mainly in roots,modulate various aspects of plant growth and development.Here,we review recent research on the role of SLs and their cross-regulation with auxin,cytokinin,and ethylene in the modulation of root growth and development.Under nutrientsufficient conditions,SLs regulate the elongation of primary roots and inhibit adventitious root formation in eudicot plants.SLs promote the elongation of seminal roots and increase the number of adventitious roots in grass plants in the short term,while inhibiting lateral root development in both grass and eudicot plants.The effects of SLs on the elongation of root hairs are variable and depend on plant species,growth conditions,and SL concentration.Nitrogen or phosphate deficiency induces the accumulation of endogenous SLs,modulates root growth and development.Genetic analyses indicate cross-regulation of SLs with auxin,cytokinin,and ethylene in regulation of root growth and development.We discuss the implications of these studies and consider their potential for exploiting the components of SL signaling for the design of crop plants with more efficient soil-resource utilization.Huwei Sun Weiqiang Li David J.Burritt Hongtao Tian Heng Zhang Xiaohan Liang Yuchen Miao Mohammad Golam Mostofa Lam-Son Phan Tran 2022The Crop Journal2022,10,6:2
10Effects of UV on the Corrosion Behavior of Pure Aluminum 1060 in Simulated Nansha Marine Atmosphere显示文摘The corrosion behavior of pure aluminum 1060 subjected to a wet-dry cyclic accelerated test in simulated Nansha marine atmosphere in the dark and under UV illumination has been investigated by means of scanning electron microscopy(SEM),electrochemical impedance spectroscopy(EIS),and Mott–Schottky measurements in this work.The results show that under the two conditions,the native oxide films are constantly destroyed and the thicknesses of the oxide films continuously decrease in the first 24 days of the corrosion test.In particular,UV illumination can diminish the pitting corrosion susceptibility of the native oxide films to an extent in terms of a photo-induced modifi cation of the native oxide film on the pure aluminum surfaces.Besides,UV illumination can also reduce the carrier concentration in the oxide films,thus reducing the conductivity and the corrosion rate.Can Peng Mingxiao Guo Tianzhen Gu Xiaohan Li Chuan Wang Zhenyao Wang Cheng Sun 2022Acta Metallurgica Sinica(English Letters)2022,35,7:1

12Polymeric Complex Nanoparticles Enable the Fabrication of Mechanically Superstrong and Recyclable Poly(aryl ether sulfone)-based Polymer Composites显示文摘It is a long-term pursuit,and also,a challenge to significantly improve the mechanical strength of thermoplastic polymers using readily dispersed polymers as nanofillers.In this study,we demonstrated that in situ formed carboxylic acid-functionalized poly(aryl ether sulfone)(PAES-COOH)/polyvinylpyrrolidone(PVPON)complex nanoparticles can significantly enhance the mechanical strength of PAES-COOH by mixing PAES-COOH with a small fraction of PVPON.The PAES-COOH/PVPON10%composite,which contained∼10 wt%PVPON,exhibited a tensile strength of∼104.8 MPa and Young’s modulus of∼932.2 MPa,which were∼2.0 and∼1.7 times higher than those of the PAES-COOH,respectively.The PAES-COOH/PVPON nanoparticles which were uniformly dispersed in PAES-COOH matrices and had strong hydrogen-bonding interactions with PAES-COOH,served as nanofillers to reinforce the mechanical strength of the PAES-COOH.The PAES-COOH/PVPON_(10%)composites possessed excellent solvent-assisted healability,and the fractured composites could be healed to restore their original mechanical strength.Meanwhile,the PAES-COOH/PVPON_(10%)composites could be recycled multiple times,and yet retained their shape integration and their original mechanical strength.Xingyuan Lu Yuchao Luo Yixuan Li Chunyang Bao Xiaohan Wang Ni An Guibin Wang Junqi Sun 2020CCS Chemistry2020,2,1:1
13The Gold Coast criteria increases the diagnostic sensitivity for amyotrophic lateral sclerosis in a Chinese population显示文摘Objectives:The aim of this study was to assess and compare the diagnostic utility of a new diagnostic criteria for amyotrophic lateral sclerosis(ALS),abbreviated as the‘Gold Coast Criteria’,with the revised El Escorial(rEEC)and Awaji criteria.Methods:Clinical and electrophysiological data of 1185 patients from January 2014 to December 2019 in the Peking Union Medical College Hospital ALS database were reviewed.The sensitivity of the Gold Coast criteria was compared to that of the possible rEEC and Awaji criteria(defined by the proportion of patients categorized as definite,probable,or possible ALS).Results:A final diagnosis of ALS was recorded in 1162 patients.The sensitivity of the Gold Coast criteria(96.6%,95%confidence interval[CI]=95.3%-97.5%)was greater than that of the rEEC(85.1%,95%CI=82.9%-87.1%)and Awaji(85.3%,95%CI=83.2%-87.3%).In addition,the sensitivity of the novel criteria maintained robust across subgroups,and the advantage was more prominent in limb-onset ALS patients and those who completed electromyographic tests.In those who did not achieve any of the rEEC diagnostic categories,the sensitivity of Gold Coast criteria was 84.4%.Conclusions:The current study demonstrated that the Gold Coast criteria exhibited greater diagnostic sensitivity than the rEEC and Awaji criteria in a Chinese ALS population.The application of the Gold Coast criteria should be considered in clinical practice and future therapeutic trials.Dongchao Shen Xunzhe Yang Yanying Wang Di He Xiaohan Sun Zhengyi Cai Jinyue Li Mingsheng Liu Liying Cui 2021Translational Neurodegeneration2021,10,3:1
