| 1 | Gas-dynamic phenomena caused by rock mass tremors and rock bursts显示文摘Similar to coal, rock and gas ejections, rock mass tremors and rock bursts are among the most serious natural hazards accompanying the underground extraction of coal. Gas-dynamic phenomena caused by rock mass tremors and rock bursts observed as transient states of air parameters in mining headings,are usually generated as a result of a change in the geometry of headings and the release of considerable amounts of gases. Particular significance is attributed to transient states caused by disasters, which are often accompanied by rapid incidents, presenting threats to the life and health of the underground crew.In Polish mining there are known examples of transient states of air parameters recorded during gasdynamic phenomena, e.g. tremors and rock bursts. | 2 | Characterization of multiphase gas–solid flow and accuracy of turbulence models for lower stage cyclones used in suspension preheaters显示文摘This study involved the analysis and characterization of the multiphase flow phenomenon inside the lower stage cyclone separator used in the clinker burning process.The analysis was performed using both CFD and experimental research methods.Very few studies are devoted to such types of cyclone separators,which in addition to their basic functions are also responsible for the technological process.Due to the atypical working conditions of these cyclone separators,they are characterized with a complex geometry,which significantly differs from that of the traditional separators.Furthermore,the evaluation of the accuracy and level of reliability of the two models of turbulence closure—k-e RNG and RSM(RANS),and the LES.The results obtained led to the conclusion that for the lower stage cyclone separators,the LES model proved to be the most accurate(both in the case of forecasting the separation efficiency and pressure drop).The performance parameter(in particular the separation efficiency)values obtained for the RSM model were also characterized by high accuracy.The k-e RNG model was characterized by significantly larger deviations. | Marek Wasilewski Stanislaw Anweiler Maciej Masiukiewicz | 2019 | Chinese Journal of Chemical Engineering2019,27,7: | 2 |
| 3 | Terahertz Semiconductor Quantum Well Devices显示文摘For eventually providing terahertz science with compact and convenient devices,terahertz (1~10THz) quantum-well photodetectors and quantum-cascade lasers are investigated.The design and projected detector performance are presented together with experimental results for several test devices,all working at photon energies below and around optical phonons.Background limited infrared performance (BLIP) operations are observed for all samples (three in total),designed for different wavelengths.BLIP temperatures of 17,13,and 12K are achieved for peak detection frequencies of 9.7THz(31μm),5.4THz(56μm),and 3.2THz(93μm),respectively.A set of THz quantum-cascade lasers with identical device parameters except for doping concentration is studied.The δ-doping density for each period varies from 3.2×1010 to 4.8×1010cm-2.We observe that the lasing threshold current density increases monotonically with doping concentration.Moreover,the measurements for devices with different cavity lengths provide evidence that the free carrier absorption causes the waveguide loss also to increase monotonically.Interestingly the observed maximum lasing temperature is best at a doping density of 3.6×1010cm-2. | Liu H C Luo H Ban D Waichter M Song C Y Wasilewski Z R Buchanan M Aers G C SpringThorpe A J Cao J C Feng S L Williams B S Hu Q | 2006 | Journal of Semiconductors2006,27,4: | 2 |

| 5 | Experimental study on the temperature evolution in the railway brake disc显示文摘Increasing operating speed of modern passenger railway vehicles leads to higher thermal load onthe braking system. Organic composite brake pads are poor thermal conductors, hence frictionalheat is absorbed mainly by the disc. In this study three brake pad types were tested on thedynamometer. Metallic fibres, steel and copper, were introduced to the formulation of twomaterials. The third was a non-metallic material - a reference case. Dynamometer test comprisedemergency brake applications to determine the frictional characteristics of the materials andconstant-power drag braking to analyse the effect of metal fibres on temperature evolution,measured by six thermocouples embedded in the brake disc. Mean friction coefficient is analysedand discussed. It is concluded that conductive fibre in the friction material formulation mayinfluence its tribological characteristics.
