1Gas sensing capabilities of TiO_(2) porous nanoceramics prepared through premature sintering显示文摘Pure and noble metal(Pt,Pd,and Au)doped TiO_(2)nanoceramics have been prepared from TiO_(2)nanoparticles through traditional pressing and sintering.For those samples sintered at 550℃,a typical premature sintering occurred,which led to the formation of a highly porous microstructure with a Brunauer-Emmett-Teller(BET)specific surface area of 23 m^(2)/g.At room temperature,only Pt-doped samples showed obvious response to hydrogen,with sensitivities as high as~500 for 1000 ppm H_(2)in N_(2);at 300℃,all samples showed obvious responses to CO,while the responses of noble metal doped samples were much higher than that of the undoped ones.The mechanism for the observed sensing capabilities has been discussed,in which the catalytic effect of Pt for hydrogen is believed responsible for the room-temperature hydrogen sensing capabilities,and the absence of glass frit as commonly used in commercial thick-film metal oxide gas sensors is related to the high sensitivities.It is proposed that much attention should be paid to metal oxide porous nanoceramics in developing gas sensors with high sensitivities and low working temperatures.Yao XIONG Zilong TANG Yu WANG Yongming HU Haoshuang GU Yuanzhi LI Helen Lai Wah CHAN Wanping CHEN 2015Journal of Advanced Ceramics2015,4,2:3

9Accuracy between clinical and radiological diagnoses compared to surgical orbital biopsies显示文摘AIM:To assess the concordance between diagnosing orbital lesions by clinical examination,orbital imaging,and histological evaluation,in order to help guide future research and clinical practice.METHODS:A retrospective analysis was undertaken at a large regional tertiary referral centre of all surgical orbital biopsies performed over a 5-year period,from 1st January 2015 until 31st December 2019.Accuracy and concordance between clinical,radiological and histological diagnoses are reported as percentage sensitivity and positive predictive value.RESULTS:A total of 128 operations involving 111 patients were identified.Overall,sensitivities of 47.7%for clinical and 37.3%for radiological diagnoses were found when compared to the histological gold standard.Vascular lesions that have characteristic clinical and radiological features had the highest sensitivity at 71.4%and 57.1%,respectively.Inflammatory conditions showed the lowest sensitivity in both clinical(30.3%)and radiological(18.2%)diagnoses.The PPV for inflammatory conditions were 47.6%for clinical and 30.0%for radiological diagnoses.CONCLUSION:Accurate diagnoses are difficult to reach by relying on clinical examination and imaging alone.Surgical orbital biopsy with histological diagnosis should remain the gold standard approach for definitively identifying orbital lesions.Although larger scale prospective studies would help further refine concordance and guide future research avenues.Audrey Tang Helen Hoi-Lam Ng Taras Gout Bernard Chang Nabil El-Hindy George Kalantzis 2023International Journal of Ophthalmology(English edition)2023,16,4:0
10Intensive care unit outcomes in patients with hematological malignancy显示文摘Hematological malignancies are usually life-limiting conditions.Limitations of care need to be decided early,based on acceptability to the patient,family,physician,and community.Inappropriate intensive care unit(ICU)admission is likely to result in significant physical,psychological,and economic burden.There is little published on the impact of non-acute preadmission disease factors on ICU outcomes in hematological malignancies.Aim:To identify baseline performance and disease-associated factors before admission to ICU in patients with hematological malignancy that contribute to subsequent ICU mortality.Methods:A retrospective analysis of electronic medical records,laboratory results,and Intensive Care data for all patients(n=184)with hematological malignancy admitted to the Calvary Mater Hospital ICU between January 1,2013 and June 30,2017 was undertaken.Baseline age,gender,condition,Eastern Cooperative Oncology,and Charlson Comorbidity scores were compared to ICU outcome and overall survival.Disease-specific prognostic risk scores were compared to ICU outcome.Results:Overall,73.9%survived the ICU admission,with 31.6%surviving at 12 months.Superior ejection fractions(>55%)and prognosis>12 months(based on disease-specific risk scores)were significantly associated with overall survival(P=0.024 and P=0.001).Induction and posttransplantation therapy were predictive of poor ICU survival outcome(P<0.0001 and P=0.041).APACHE scores were significant predictors of ICU mortality(P=0.002 for APACHE II and P<0.0001 for APACHE III).Conclusion:Survival outcomes for patients with hematological malignancy admitted to the ICU correlate with functional and comorbidity status.Disease-specific prognostic scores can assist in recognizing patients likely to benefit from ICU admission.Jarrod Leigh Rawson Fionnuala Mary Fagan Georgin Claire Burrough Helen Michelle Tang Moire Alys Cuncannon Katrina Louise Ellem Anoop Kumar Enjeti 2020Blood Science2020,2,1:0

12Dual-ratiometric magnetic resonance tunable nanoprobe with acidic-microenvironment-responsive property to enhance the visualization of early tumor pathological changes显示文摘The development of microenvironment-responsive nanoprobes has shown great promise for use in magnetic resonance imaging(MRI),with the advantage of significantly improved specificity and good biocompatibility.However,the clinical application of responsive probes is hampered by a lack of biological sensitivity for early molecular diagnostics and visualizing microenvionment of metabolism reprogramming in tumor progression.Here,we report on a dual-ratiometric magnetic resonance tunable(DMRT)nanoprobe designed by crosslinking different ratios of transferrin chelating gadolinium and superparamagnetic nanoparticles,complexed to a pH responsive biocompatible polymer.This dually activatable nanoprobe enables pH-dependent tumor microenvironment visualization,providing exceptional quantitative pathophysiological information in vitro and in vivo.When used in combination with dual-contrast enhancement triple subtraction imaging technique(DETSI),this smart nanoprobe guarantees the diagnosis of early-stage diseases.We envisage that this novel integrated nanoplatform will provide a new paradigm for the clinical translation of robust DMRT nanoprobes for early disease detection and staging,as well as microenvironment visualization and disease progression monitoring.Rong Cao Ning Tang Yi Zhu An Chen Yumeng Li Renbin Ge Yuan Li Zhongyi Huang Jiajing Guo Jiali Deng Hongwei Lu Ziwei Lu Helen Forgham Thomas PDavis Ruirui Qiao Zhongling Wang 2023Nano Research2023,16,7:0
