1Photochemical pollution in Lanzhou, China - A case study显示文摘The photochemical air pollution in Xigu district of Lanshou city, Gansu Province was studied during a period of 1981-1984. The extremely high NMHC/NOx ratio and ozone level elevation after rain have been noticed. A series of outdoor and indoor reaction chamber simulation experiments conducted in order to understand the specific conditions. 2Edible Peanut Worm(Sipunculus nudus) in the Beibu Gulf: Resource, Aquaculture, Ecological Impact and Counterplan显示文摘Sipunculus nudus is an important economic species because of its high nutritional and medicinal values. The exploitation and utilization of S. nudus primarily occur in the coastal regions of the Beibu Gulf. However, wild resource of S. nudus is rapidly decreasing because of the overexploitation, which has led to considerable developments of artificial breeding techniques. The cultivation scale of S. nudus has increased in response to successful artificial breeding; however, methods for culturing S. nudus in tidal flats or ponds require further study. Most studies have focused on the breeding, nutrition, medical value and ecological impact of these worms. Studies on the distribution, sediment requirements, nutrition characteristics, breeding techniques and aquaculture ecology of this species are summarized in this paper to promote the development of the aquaculture industry for S. nudus. The high biomass of S. nudus in the Beibu Gulf is positively correlated with the sediment characteristics and water quality of the region. The production of peanut worm has improved to some extent through culturing; however, the nutrient value and ecological environment problems have been observed, which reflect the over exploitation of trace elements and the sediment. These problems will worsen unless they are resolved, and the release of organic materials, nitrogen and phosphorus during harvesting impacts the coastal environment. Moreover, genetic erosion is a potential risk for larvae in artificial breeding programs in tidal flats. 4Role of Water in Deformed Omphacite in UHP Eclogite from the Dabie Mountains,Eastern China显示文摘Omphacite grains from UHP eclogite of the Dabie Mountains in eastern China are elongated and showstrong lattice preferred orientations (LPOs). Observations by the transmission electron microscopy (TEM) identified notonly structures of plastic deformation occurring as free dislocation, dislocation loops and dislocation walls, but alsobubbles of water present in the deformed omphacite. The bubbles attach to the dislocation loops which are often connectedto one another via a common bubble. Using infrared spectroscopy (IR), two types of hydrous components are identified ashydroxyl and free-water in the omphacite. 5A unique hormonal recognition feature of the human glucagon-like peptide-2 receptor显示文摘Glucagon-like peptides(GLP-1 and GLP-2)are two proglucagon-derived intestinal hormones that mediate distinct physiological functions through two related receptors(GLP-1R and GLP-2R)which are important drug targets for metabolic disorders and Crohn's disease,respectively.Despite great progress in GLP-1 R structure determination,our understanding on the differences of peptide binding and signal transduction between these two receptors remains elusive.Here we report the electron microscopy structure of the human GLP-2R in complex with GLP-2 and a Gs heterotrimer.To accommodate GLP-2 rather than GLP-1,GLP-2R fine-tunes the conformations of the extracellular parts of transmembrane helices(TMs)1,5,7 and extracellular loop 1(ECL1).In contrast to GLP-1,the N-terminal histidine of GLP-2 penetrates into the receptor core with a unique orientation.The middle region of GLP-2 engages with TM1 and TM7 more extensively than with ECL2,and the GLP-2 C-terminus closely attaches to ECL1,which is the most protruded among 9 class B G protein-coupled receptors(GPCRs).Functional studies revealed that the above three segments of GLP-2 are essential for GLP-2 recognition and receptor activation,especially the middle region.These results provide new insights into the molecular basis of ligand specificity in class B GPCRs and may facilitate the development of more specific therapeutics.Wen Sun Li-Nan Chen Qingtong Zhou Li-Hua Zhao Dehua Yang Huibing Zhang Zhaotong Cong Dan-Dan Shen Fenghui Zhao Fulai Zhou Xiaoqing Cai Yan Chen Yan Zhou Sarina Gadgaard Wijnand JCvan der Velden Suwen Zhao Yi Jiang Mette MRosenkilde HEric Xu Yan Zhang Ming-Wei Wang 2020Cell Research2020,30,12:4

7Viral and Antibody Kinetics of COVID-19 Patients with Different Disease Severities in Acute and Convalescent Phases:A 6-Month Follow-Up Study显示文摘Coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19),caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2(SARS-CoV-2),has spread rapidly around the world,posing a major threat to human health and the economy.Currently,long-term data on viral shedding and the serum antibody responses in COVID-19 patients are still limited.Herein,we report the clinical features,viral RNA loads,and serum antibody levels in a cohort of 112 COVID-19 patients admitted to the Honghu People’s Hospital,Hubei Province,China.Overall,5.36%(6/112)of patients showed persistent viral RNA shedding(>45 days).The peak viral load was higher in the severe disease group than in the mild group(median cycle threshold value,36.4 versus 31.5;P=0.002).For most patients the disappearance of IgM antibodies occurred approximately 4–6 weeks after symptoms onset,while IgG persisted for over 194 days after the onset of symptoms,although patients showed a 46%reduction in antibodies titres against SARS-CoV-2 nucleocapsid protein compared with the acute phase.We also studied18 asymptomatic individuals with RT-qPCR confirmed SARS-CoV-2 infection together with 17 symptomatic patients,and the asymptomatic individuals were the close contacts of these symptomatic cases.Delayed IgG seroconversion and lower IgM seropositive rates were observed in asymptomatic individuals.These data indicate that higher viral loads and stronger antibody responses are related to more severe disease status in patients with SARS-CoV-2 infection,and the antibodies persisted in the recovered patient for more than 6 months so that the vaccine may provide protection against SARS-CoV-2 infection.Xiaoyong Zhang Suwen Lu Hui Li Yi Wang Zhen Lu Zhihong Liu Qingtao Lai Yali Ji Xuan Huang Yongyin Li Jian Sun Yingsong Wu Xiaoning Xu Jinlin Hou 2020Virologica Sinica2020,35,6:4

10Anaerobic biodegradation,physical and structural properties of normal and high-amylose maize starch films显示文摘Biodegradable plastics have attracted considerable attention in recent years due to their biodegradability,biocompatibility and non-toxicity.In this study,normal maize starch(containing 25%amylose)and high-amylose maize starch(containing 80%amylose)were served as model materials to prepare starch/polyvinyl alcohol(PVA)blends.To comprehensively study the effects of amylose contents on the film performances,the mechanical properties,water resistance and anaerobic biodegradability of the two films were examined.Moreover,the processes of anaerobic degradation were investigated by evolutions of biogas production,pH in reactors and the changes of film structures and compositions.The results indicated that amylose content played an important role in the microstructures of starch film as well as mechanical properties and water resistance,whereas it had no significant influence on anaerobic biodegradability of the films.Nonetheless,the structure of high-amylose maize starch/PVA film was more suitable and beneficial to the anaerobic biodegradation than that of the normal maize starch/PVA film,because it could effectively avoid accumulation of volatile fatty acids,which contributed to the stable biogas production,short fermentation period and non-souring in the reactor.Liu Weiwei Xue Juan Cheng Beijiu Zhu Suwen Ma Qing Ma Huan 2016International Journal of Agricultural and Biological Engineering2016,9,5:3
11China Antihypertensive Trial in Acute Ischemic Stroke II (CATIS-2): rationale and design显示文摘Backgrounds Increased blood pressure(BP)for patients who had an acute ischaemic stroke is associated with poor functional outcome,however the optimal timing of antihypertensive therapy is unknown.Aims We aim to compare early antihypertensive treatment to delayed antihypertensive treatment for reducing the risk of composite major disability and mortality at 3 months in acute ischaemic stroke.Design The China Antihypertensive Trial in Acute Ischemic Stroke II(CATIS-2)trial is a multicentre,randomised,open-label,blinded-endpoints trial that will be conducted in 100 hospitals in China.The primary outcome is the composite of death and major disability(modified Rankin Scale score≥3)at 3 months of randomisation.Antihypertensive treatment will be received immediately after randomisation in the early treatment group,aimed at average systolic BP by 10%-20%reduction within the first 24 hours,and achieving an average BP level of<140/90 mm Hg within 5 days.Patients in the delayed treatment group will discontinue any antihypertension medications for the first 7 days of randomisation,and will receive antihypertensive therapy achieving a BP goal of<140/90 mm Hg after 7 days.Conclusion The CATIS-2 trial will be testing the hypotheses that early BP lowering leads to improved functional outcome without any other harms,and developing clinical guidelines of the BP management for patients who had an acute ischaemic stroke.Liping Liu Yilong Wang Xuewei Xie Dacheng Liu Aili Wang Penglian Wang Suwen Shen Chongke Zhong Yufei Wei Tan Xu Yuesong Pan Yong Jiang Xia Meng David Wang Yonghong Zhang Jiang He Yongjun Wang 2021Stroke & Vascular Neurology2021,6,2:3
12Prediction of velocity distribution in straight open-channel flow with partial vegetation by singular perturbation method显示文摘A numerical analysis model based on two-dimensional shallow water differential equations is presented for straight open-channel flow with partial vegetation across the channel. Both the drag force acting on vegetation and the momentum exchange between the vegetation and non-vegetation zones are considered. The depth-averaged streamwise velocity is solved by the singular perturbation method, while the Reynolds stress is calculated based on the results of the streamwise velocity. Comparisons with the experimental data indicate that the accuracy of prediction is significantly improved by introducing a term for the secondary current in the model. 13Effects of Epstein-Barr virus infection on the development of multiple myeloma after liver transplantation显示文摘Reduced cellular immune function in patients after liver transplantation easily results in many types of viral infections,such as Epstein-Barr virus.Epstein-Barr virus is a γ-herpesvirus and is related to many malignant diseases,especially epithelial and lymph tumors.The abnormal interaction of cluster of differentiation 40 with cluster of differentiation 40 ligand and expression of cluster of differentiation 40 ligand are considered closely related to the development of myeloma cells.This study explored the influence and mechanism of Epstein-Barr virus infection on the phenotype and biological behavior of myeloma cells after liver transplantation.Flow cytometry was used to detect coexpression of cluster of differentiation 40 and cluster of differentiation 40 ligand in 10 samples of freshly isolated multiple myeloma cells.Cluster of differentiation 40 and cluster of differentiation 40 ligand were coexpressed in sample Nos.5,8,9,and 10,particularly in sample No.5.Western blot analysis was used to detect the expression of the Epstein-Barr virus antigens latent membrane protein 1 and Epstein-Barr virus nuclear antigen 2 in the multiple myeloma cell line RPMI 8226 infected with Epstein-Barr virus.The antigen expression indicated that Epstein-Barr virus can infect multiple myeloma virus cells in vitro.Reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction revealed upregulated expression of cluster of differentiation 40 ligand on the infected RPMI 8226 cells,which may be involved in the anti-apoptosis activity of the infected cells.Confocal microscopy showed that pairs of molecules of cluster of differentiation 40,cluster of differentiation 40 ligand,and latent membrane protein 1 were colocalized on the surface of the infected cells.CXC chemokine receptor 4 was upregulated on the RPMI 8226 cells after Epstein-Barr virus infection.The migratory ability of the infected cells improved in the presence of the chemokine stromal cell-derived factor-1α.Anti-apoptosis and migration are known important biological characteristics of malignant cells.Our results indicate the involvement of Epstein-Barr virus in the origin and development of multiple myeloma.The risk of multiple myeloma increases when Epstein-Barr virus infects B cells in the germinal center,which may result in an anti-apoptosis effect of B cells and an improved ability to migrate from the germinal center to peripheral blood.ZHANG YeWei ZHAO HeWei HE Xia ZHENG SuWen WANG TaiHong YAN DongLiang SUN JingFeng LU Xiang WEN JianFei LAU Wan Yee 2012Science China(Life Sciences)2012,55,8:2
14Adaptive BER-constraint-based power allocation for downlink MC-CDMA systems with linear MMSE receiver显示文摘Power allocation plays a crucial role in wireless communications. To facilitate the efficient allocation of limited transmit power, in this paper, a bit error rate (BER) constraint based power allocation scheme is proposed for the downlink of multi-carrier code division multiple access (MC-CDMA) systems with linear minimum mean square error (MMSE) receiver. According to the instantaneous path gains, the proposed scheme can determine the required minimum transmit power on each channel to meet the BER constraint.
