| 1 | Genome-wide variants of Eurasian facial shape differentiation and a prospective model of DNA based face prediction显示文摘It is a long-standing question as to which genes define the characteristic facial features among different ethnic groups. In this study, we use Uyghurs, an ancient admixed population to query the genetic bases why Europeans and Han Chinese look different. Facial traits were analyzed based on high-dense 3D facial images; numerous biometric spaces were examined for divergent facial features between European and Han Chinese, ranging from inter-landmark distances to dense shape geometrics. Genome-wide association studies(GWAS) were conducted on a discovery panel of Uyghurs. Six significant loci were identified, four of which, rs1868752, rs118078182, rs60159418 at or near UBASH3B, COL23A1, PCDH7 and rs17868256 were replicated in independent cohorts of Uyghurs or Southern Han Chinese. | 2 | New insights on the enhanced non-hydroxyl radical contribution under copper promoted TiO_(2)/GO for the photodegradation of tetracycline hydrochloride显示文摘TiO_(2)/graphene oxide(GO)as photocatalyst in the photo-degradation of multitudinous pollutants has been extensively studied.But its low photocatalytic efficiency is attributed to the high band gap energy which lead to low light utilization.Cu-TiO_(2)/GO was synthesized via the impregnation methods to enhance the catalytic performance.The Cu-TiO_(2)/GO reaction rate constant for photo-degradation of pollutants(tetracycline hydrochloride,TC)was about 1.4 times that of TiO_(2)/GO.In 90 min,the removal ratio of Cu-TiO_(2)/GO for TC was 98%,and the maximum degradation ratio occurred at p H 5.After five cycles,the removal ratio of Cu-Ti O_(2)/GO still exceeded 98%.UV-visible adsorption spectra of Cu-Ti O_(2)/GO showed that its band gap was narrower than TiO_(2)/GO.Electron paramagnetic resonance(EPR)spectra test illustrated the generation rate of·O_(2)^(-)and·OH was higher in Cu-TiO_(2)/GO system than TiO_(2)/GO and TiO_(2) system.The contribution sequence of oxidative species was·O_(2)^(-)>holes(h+)>·OH in both TiO_(2)/GO and Cu-Ti O_(2)/GO system.Interestingly,the contribution of·OH in Cu-TiO_(2)/GO was less than that in TiO_(2)/GO during the photo-degradation process.This phenomenon was attributed to the better adsorption performance of Cu-Ti O_(2)/GO which could reduce the accessibility of TC to·OH in liquid.The enhanced non-hydroxyl radical contribution could be attributed to that the more other active species or sites on(nearby)the surface of Cu-TiO_(2)/GO generated after doping Cu.These results provide a new perspective for the tradition metal-doped conventional catalysts to enhance the removal of organic pollutants in the environment. | Sijia Qian Shengyan Pu Ying Zhang Peng Wang Yingchen Bai Bo Lai | 2021 | Journal of Environmental Sciences2021,33,2: | 4 |
| 3 | In-situ observation of electrical tree evolution in epoxy dielectrics with internal cracks显示文摘Gas-filled internal crack might appear in thermoset materials like epoxy resin during the equipment manufacturing,which would become a vulnerable local region to initiate the electrical tree,thus prone to cause insulation failure.The withstand voltage test was carried on epoxy samples with artificial cracks based on a rod-plane electrode arrange-ment.Simultaneously,surface state variation and tree evolution with crack were observed by an optical microscope in conjunction with a charge-coupled device camera.The changes in morphology and chemical status of the crack surface were characterized by scanning electron microscopy,laser Raman spectrometer and energy dispersive spec-trometer,respectively.It was found that the erosion and tree started from the borderline of crack under a relatively low electric field strength;however,the area near the electrode had relatively little damage.The breaking of epoxy molecular chains coarsens the crack surface and further forms deep channels on a micro-level,which is the forerunner of the electrical tree inception.Based on these,the initiation mechanisms of the crack-induced electrical tree and the reasons for the erosion near the borderline have been revealed.This study provides a train thought for the polymer degradation opening up into the initial tree channel during tree evolution processes. | Zehua Wu Huidong Tian Sijia Zhu He Li Qingyu Wang Zongliang Xie Peng Liu Zongren Peng | 2021 | High Voltage2021,6,2: | 3 |
| 4 | Characteristics of dental morphology in the Xinjiang Uyghurs and correlation with the EDARV370A variant显示文摘Teeth are one of the most important materials for anthropological studies because they are likely to be preserved in ancient remains.While the frequencies of dental characteristics can provide clues to the phylogeny of populations,genetic studies at the individual level can further reveal the biological mechanisms and evolutionary context of dental characteristics.In this study,by analyzing 38 dental characteristics of 242 Xinjiang Uyghur individuals,we found that(i)the dental characteristics of the Uyghurs showed evidence of admixture between European and East Asian populations.The admixture proportions were in line with those previously reported in population genetic studies;(ii)the Xinjiang Uyghur dental characteristics formed three clusters in pairwise correlation analysis.One of the main clusters consisted of characteristics including incisor shoveling,double shoveling and mesial ridge;and(iii)all the characteristics in this cluster were significantly correlated with the genetic variant EDARV370A.The extracted composite phenotypic factor was also significantly associated with EDARV370A,which explained 18%of the total phenotypic variance.This indicated a pleiotropic effect,i.e.,the same genetic factor affects a number of dental characteristics at the same time.Our results confirmed that EDARV370A,a genetic variant that first originated in East Asia about 30000 years ago,played an important role in incisor shoveling in East Asia.This finding suggested that incisor shoveling in modern humans in East Asia is likely to have appeared after the late Pleistocene. | TAN JingZe PENG QianQian LI JinXi GUAN YaQun ZHANG LiPing JIAO Yi YANG YaJun WANG SiJia JIN Li | 2014 | Science China(Life Sciences)2014,57,5: | 2 |
| 5 | Effects and interaction of temperature and relative humidity on the trend of influenza prevalence:A multi-central study based on 30 provinces in China's Mainland from 2013 to 2018显示文摘Background:Evidence is inefficient about how meteorological factors influence the trends of influenza transmission in different regions of China.Methods:We estimated the time-varying reproduction number(Rt)of influenza and explored the impact of temperature and relative humidity on Rt using generalized additive quasi-Poisson regression models combined with the distribution lag non-linear model(DLNM).The effect of temperature and humidity interaction on Rt of influenza was explored.The multiple random-meta analysis was used to evaluate region-specific association.The excess risk(ER)index was defined to investigate the correlation between Rt and each meteorological factor with the modification of seasonal and regional characteristics.Results:Low temperature and low relative humidity contributed to influenza epidemics on the national level,while shapes of merged cumulative effect plots were different across regions.Compared to that of median temperature,the merged RR(95%CI)of low tem-perature in northern and southern regions were 1.40(1.24,1.45)and 1.20(1.14,1.27),respectively,while those of high temperature were 1.10(1.03,1.17)and 1.00(0.95,1.04),respectively.There were negative interactions between temperature and relative humidity on national(SI=0.59,95%CI:0.57e0.61),southern(SI=0.49,95%CI:0.17e0.80),and northern regions(SI=0.59,95%CI:0.56,0.62).In general,with the increase of the change of the two meteorological factors,the ER of Rt also gradually increased.Conclusions:Temperature and relative humidity have an effect on the influenza epidemics in China,and there is an interaction between the two meteorological factors,but the effect of each factor is heterogeneous among regions.Meteorological factors may be considered to predict the trend of influenza epidemic. | Yi Yin Miao Lai Sijia Zhou Ziying Chen Xin Jiang Liping Wang Zhongjie Li Zhihang Peng | 2023 | Infectious Disease Modelling2023,8,3: | 1 |
| 6 | Synthesis and Bio-activities of Poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene)(PEDOT)/Poly(styrene sulfonate)(PSS)/Gelatin Layer on Indium Tin Oxide(ITO)-coated Glass显示文摘Poly(3, 4-ethylenedioxythiophene)(PEDOT), together with its dopes, such as poly(styrene sulfonate)(PSS), has been acknowledged to have a wide range of biomedical applications as an important conducting polymer. In this study, gelatin can be polymerized into PEDOT/PSS polymers on indium tin oxide(ITO)-coated glass. PEDOT/PSS/gelatin layer on ITO-coated glass significantly decreases electrochemical impedance spectroscopy(EIS) and increases charge delivery capacity relative to the gelatin layer and bare ITOcoated glass, comparable to the PEDOT/PSS layer on ITO-coated glass. PEDOT/PSS/gelatin layer on ITOcoated glass enhances pheochromocytoma(PC 12) cell affinity, possesses a high biocompatibility and promotes PC 12 cell growth by delivery of electrical stimulation. | 7 | The modulation of catalytic active site and support to construct high-efficiency ZnS/NC-X electrocatalyst for nitrogen reduction显示文摘Transition metals are a kind of promising catalysts to apply into electrocatalytic synthesis ammonia by virtue of abundant reserves and low cost.However,many widely used transition metal catalysts usually face the challenge to realize satisfactory catalytic results mainly resulting from the match between catalytic active site and support.Here,a new-type ZnS/NC-X electrocatalyst was reported by in-situ sulfidation of zeolitic imidazolate framework-8(ZIF-8),where the metal nodes of ZIF-8 reacted with dibenzyl disulfide(BDS)to obtain ZnS nanoparticles and the framework of ZIF-8 was carbonized to form the support.Especially,catalytic active sites(ZnS nanoparticles)and support(NC-X)were adjusted in detailed by changing the ratio of ZIF-8 and BDS.As a result,when the mass ratio of ZIF-8 and BDS was 1:1,the resulted ZnS/NC-2 catalyst achieved a remarkable NH3 yield of 65.60μg·h^(−1)·mg^(−1)cat.,Faradaic efficiency(FE)of 18.52%at−0.4 V vs reversible hydrogen electrode(RHE)in 0.05 M H2SO4 and catalytic stability,which outperformed most reported transition metal sulfides.The matching catalytic active site and support make our strategy promising for wide catalytic applications. | Peng Wang Sijia Zhao Zijing Liu Caiyun Han Shuang Wang Jinping Li | 2022 | Nano Research2022,15,9: | 1 |

| 11 | Single-molecule FRET studies on interactions between elongation factor 4 (LepA) and ribosomes显示文摘Elongation factor 4(EF4) is one of the highly conserved translational GTPases, whose functions are largely unknown. Structures of EF4 bound ribosomal PRE-translocation and POST-translocation complexes have both been visualized. On top of cellular, structural, and biochemical studies, several controversial models have been raised to rationalize functions of EF4. However, how EF4 modulates elongation through its interactions with ribosomes has not been revealed. Here, using single-molecule fluorescence resonance energy transfer assays, we directly captured short-lived EF4·GTP bound ribosomal PRE and POST translocation complexes, which may adopt slightly different conformations from structures prepared using GDP, GDPNP, or GDPCP. Furthermore, we revealed that EF4·GTP severely impairs delivery of aminoacyl-tRNA into the A-site of the ribosome and moderately accelerates translocation. | 13 | Passive optimization of pump noise transfer function by narrow band-pass filtering in femtosecond fiber lasers显示文摘Fluctuation of pump power is one of the major sources of temporal and intensity noise in femtosecond fiber lasers.In this work,the transfer functions between the relative intensity noise(RIN)of the pump laser diode(LD)and the output RIN,between the RIN of the pump LD and timing jitter of femtosecond fiber lasers are systematically studied.It is demonstrated,for the first time to our knowledge,that the amplitude of the pump RIN transfer function can be effectively decreased by an intra-cavity narrow band-pass filter.In particular,for normal-dispersion lasers,the 3-d B bandwidth of the transfer function can also be narrowed by two-thirds,with a steeper falling edge.Furthermore,with the narrow band-pass filtering,the transfer function is almost independent of the net intra-cavity dispersion due to amplifier similariton formation.The proposed scheme can effectively isolate the pump-induced noise without the need of complex active pump LD control and intra-cavity dispersion management,thus providing an easy way for practical high-power,high-stability femtosecond fiber laser design and related high-precision applications outside the laboratory. | Peng Qin Sijia Wang Minglie Hu Youjian Song | 2019 | High Power Laser Science and Engineering2019,7,3: | 0 |
| 14 | 3D flower-like mesoporous Bi_(4)O_(5)I_(2)/MoS_(2)Z-scheme heterojunction with optimized photothermal-photocatalytic performance显示文摘3D flower-like hierarchical mesoporous Bi_(4)O_(5)I_(2)/MoS_(2)Z-scheme layered heterojunction photocatalyst was fabricated by oil bath and hydrothermal methods.The heterojunction with narrow band gap of~1.95 eV extended the photoresponse to near-infrared region,which showed obvious photothermal effect due to the introduction of MoS_(2) with broad spectrum response.MoS_(2) nanosheets were anchored onto the surface of flower-like hierarchical mesoporous Bi_(4)O_(5)I_(2) nanosheets,thereby forming efficient layered heterojunctions,the solar-driven photocatalytic efficiency in degradation of highly toxic dichlorophenol and reduction of hexavalent chromium was improved to 98.5%and 99.2%,which was~4 and 7 times higher than that of the pristine Bi_(4)O_(5)I_(2),respectively.In addition,the photocatalytic hydrogen production rate reached 496.78 μmol h^(-1)g^(-1),which was~6 times higher than that of the pristine Bi_(4)O_(5)I_(2).The excellent photocatalytic performance can be ascribed to the promoted photothermal effect,as well as,the formation of compact Z-scheme layered heterojunctions.The 3D flower-like hierarchical mesoporous structure provided adequate surface active-sites,which was conducive to the mass transfer.Moreover,the high stability of the prepared photocatalyst further promoted its potential practical application.This strategy also provides new insights for fabricating layered Zscheme heterojunctions photocatalysts with highly photothermal-photocatalytic efficiency. | Sijia Song Zipeng Xing Ke Wang Huanan Zhao Peng Chen Zhenzi Li Wei Zhou | 2023 | Green Energy & Environment2023,8,1: | 0 |

The authors use conventional denoising method to remove noise which may cause vibration near the discontinuity called pseudo-Gibbs artifact.In order to remove the artifact,the study proposed a method combining the seislet transform and total variation minimization. Firstly,the data are converted into the seislet transform domain. Secondly,the hard threshold was used for eliminating the noise and keep useful signal,which is the initial input for the next step. Finally,total variation minimization dealed with denoised data to recover boundary information and further eliminated the noise. Synthetic data examples show that the method has feasibility in eliminating random noise and protecting detailed signal,and also shows better results than the classic f-x deconvolution. The field data example also shows effective in practice.
