1Mechanical properties and deformation mechanisms of a novel fine-grained Mg-Gd-Y-Ag-Zr-Ce alloy with high strength-ductility synergy显示文摘Grain boundary precipitation and segregation play an important role in determining mechanical properties of Mg alloys. In the present work, we studied work focuses on the strengthening and deformation mechanism of coarse-grained(CG) and fine-grained(FG) Mg-Gd-Y-Ag-Zr-Ce alloy. The CG alloy is strengthened by means of age-strengthening with the formation of both basal plate γ' and prismatic plate β’ precipitates in the grain interior. While the strengthening of FC alloy is completed by intergranular alloying segregation and intragranular precipitates γ' and β’. The segregation of alloying elements at the grain boundary and formation of sub-micron particles can stabilize the grain boundary and suppress the intergranular deformation. Consequently, dislocations could be trapped near γ' and β’ precipitates in the grain interior. Unlike CG alloys, the FG alloys exhibit a heterogeneous transition from elastic to plastic deformation via the Lüders plateau. The rapid gliding dislocation multiplications and fine-grained size are necessary and sufficient conditions for the Lüders strains. 2Heterogeneous fiberous structured Mg-Zn-Zr alloy with superior strength-ductility synergy显示文摘Here we reported a heterogeneous fiberous structured Mg-5.6Zn-0.6Zr(wt%)alloy obtained by conventional extrusion method,which exhibited high yield strength of∼345 MPa,ultimate tensile strength of∼370 MPa,and high tensile strain of∼20.5%,superior to most of the Mg-Zn based alloys reported so far.The extraordinarily high mechanical properties were mainly attributed to the heterogeneous fiberous structure consisting of alternating coarse-and fine-grain layers.Grains in the different layers grew into the neighboring layers,ensuring a good layer bonding.A high Schmid factor and geometric compatibility factor for pyramidal slip led to full slip transfer between the neighboring coarse grains and fine grains,which could help to release the stress concentration and avoid early fracture.The profuse acti-vatedglide dislocations could render the unprecedented high tensile strain.The constraint by the hard fine-grain domains made the soft coarse-grain domains strong like the hard fine-grain domains,as well as the nanoscale precipitates pinning dislocations,contributed to the high strength.The hetero-geneous microstructure design was shown to have synergistic improvement in strength-ductility balance,which could be an inspiring strategy to improve mechanical properties of hexagonal close-packed(hcp)metals.Wei Fu Pengfei Dang Shengwu Guo Zijun Ren Daqing Fang Xiangdong Ding Jun Sun 2023Journal of Materials Science & Technology2023,,3:1
3Feature-preserving color pencil drawings from photographs显示文摘Color pencil drawing is well-loved due to its rich expressiveness.This paper proposes an approach for generating feature-preserving color pencil drawings from photographs.To mimic the tonal style of color pencil drawings,which are much lighter and have relatively lower saturation than photographs,we devise a lightness enhancement mapping and a saturation reduction mapping.The lightness mapping is a monotonically decreasing derivative function,which not only increases lightness but also preserves input photograph features.Color saturation is usually related to lightness,so we suppress the saturation dependent on lightness to yield a harmonious tone.Finally,two extremum operators are provided to generate a foreground-aware outline map in which the colors of the generated contours and the foreground object are consistent.Comprehensive experiments show that color pencil drawings generated by our method surpass existing methods in tone capture and feature preservation.Dong Wang Guiqing Li Chengying Gao Shengwu Fu Yun Liang 2023Computational Visual Media2023,9,4:0
4Enhancing corrosion resistance of ZK60 magnesium alloys via Ca microalloying: The impact of nanoscale precipitates显示文摘Enhancing corrosion resistance of Mg-Zn alloys with high strength and low cost was critical for broadening their large-scale practical applications. Here we prepared solutionized, peak-and over-aged ZK60 alloys with and without microalloying Ca(0.26 wt.%) to explore the effects of nanoscale precipitates on their corrosion behavior in detail via experimental analyses and theoretical calculations. The results suggested the peak-aged ZK60 alloy with Ca addition showed improved corrosion resistance in comparison with the alloys without Ca,owing to the contribution of Ca on the refinement of precipitates and increase in their number density. Although the precipitates and Mg matrix formed micro-galvanic couples leading to dissolution, the fine and dense precipitates could generate “in-situ pinning” effect on the corrosion products, forming a spider-web-like structure and improving the corrosion inhibition ability accordingly. The pinning effect was closely related to the size and number density of precipitates.
