Microstructure, mechanical and corrosion properties of Mg-2Dy-xZn(x=0,0.1,0.5 and 1 at.%)alloys显示文摘Microstructure, mechanical and corrosion properties of as-cast Mg-2Dy-xZn(x=0,0.1,0.5,and 1)(at.%)alloys were investigated. The microstructures of the as-cast Mg-2Dy and Mg-2Dy-0.1Zn alloys mainly consisted ofα-Mg phase and Mg_(24)Dy_(5)eutectic phase. With 0.5 at.%Zn addition,Mg_(12)ZnDy phase with 18R-type long period stacking ordered(LPSO)structure and Mg_(2)Dy phase precipitated at the grain boundaries. When the content of Zn is 1 at.%,only the Mg_(3)Zn_(3)Dy_(2)phase formed in theα-Mg matrix. The electrochemical measurements and immersion testing results indicated that the Mg-2Dy-0.1Zn alloy exhibited the best corrosion resistance. It revealed that the morphology, scale, amount and distribution of the second phase have a great effect on the corrosion resistance of alloy.Additionally, the tensile testing results showed that the Mg-2Dy-0.5Zn alloy exhibited the higher tensile strength and good elongation, especially at 200℃.The improvement of mechanical properties was mainly due to the strengthening of LPSO phase and grain refinement of α-Mg. | Guangli Bi Yuandong Li Shijun Zang Jianbin Zhang Ying Ma Yuan Hao | 2014 | Journal of Magnesium and Alloys2014,2,1: | 13
Dry sliding wear behavior of an extruded Mg-Dy-Zn alloy with long period stacking ordered phase显示文摘The dry sliding wear behavior of extruded Mg-2Dy-0.5Zn alloy(at.%)was investigated using a pin-on-disk configuration. The friction coefficient and wear rate were measured within a load range 20-760 N at a sliding velocity of 0.785 m/s.Microstructure and wear surface of alloy were examined using scanning electron microscopy. The mechanical properties of alloy were tested at room and elevated temperatures.Five wear mechanisms, namely abrasion, oxidation, delamination, thermal softening and melting dominated the whole wear behavior with increasing applied load. The extruded Mg-2Dy-0.5Zn alloy exhibited the better wear resistance as compared with as-cast Mg_(97)Zn_(1)Y_(2) alloy under the given conditions through contact surface temperature analysis. The improved wear resistance was mainly related to fine grain size, good thermal stability of long period stacking order(LPSO)phase and excellent higher-temperature mechanical properties. | Guangli Bi Yuandong Li Xiaofeng Huang Tijun Chen Ying Ma Yuan Hao | 2015 | Journal of Magnesium and Alloys2015,3,1: | 6
Strain-hardening and warm deformation behaviors of extruded Mg-Sn-Yb alloy sheet显示文摘Strain-hardening and warm deformation behaviors of extruded Mg-2Sn-0.5Yb alloy(at.%)sheet were investigated in uniaxial tensile test at temperatures of 25-250 ℃ and strain rates of 1×10^(−3) s^(−1)-0.1 s^(−1).The data fit with the Kocks-Mecking type plots were used to show different stages of strain hardening.Besides III-stage and IV-stage,the absence of the II-stage strain hardening at room temperature should be related to the sufficient dynamic recrystallization during extrusion. The decrease of strain hardening ability of the alloy after yielding was attributed to the reduction of dislocation density with increasing testing temperature.Strain rate sensitivity(SRS)was significantly enhanced with increasing temperature, and the corresponding m-value was calculated as 0.07-0.12,which indicated that the deformation mechanism was dominated by the climb-controlled dislocation creep at 200 ℃.Furthermore, the grain boundary sliding(GBS)was activated at 250 ℃,which contributed to the higher SRS.The activation energy was calculated as 213.67 kJ mol^(−1),which was higher than that of lattice diffusion or grain boundary self-diffusion.In addition, the alloy exhibited a quasi superplasticity at 250 ℃ with a strain rate of 1×10^(−3) s^(−1),which was mainly related to the fine microstructure and the presence of the Mg2Sn and Mg2(Sn,Yb)particles. | Jing Jiang Guangli Bi Guoyong Wang Qing Jiang Jianshe Lian Zhonghao Jiang | 2014 | Journal of Magnesium and Alloys2014,2,2: | 3

Microstructures and mechanical properties of extruded Mg-2Sn-xYb(x=0,0.1,0.5 at.%)sheets显示文摘Microstructures and mechanical properties of extruded Mg-2Sn-xYb(x=0,0.1,0.5 at.%)sheets were investigated. The grain size of as-cast Mg-2Sn alloy is significantly reduced with increasing Yb concentration. In addition toα-Mg and Mg_(2)Sn phase, some fine Mg_(2)(Sn,Yb)particles are observed in as-cast Mg-2Sn-0.5Yb alloy, but these fine particles are not observed in as-cast Mg-2Sn-0.1Yb alloy due to a high solubility of Yb in Mg matrix.Tensile tests demonstrated that extruded Mg-2Sn-0.5Yb sheet exhibited the highest tensile strength and available elongation to failure at room temperature, while extruded Mg-2Sn-0.1Yb alloy exhibited the highest tensile properties at 100°C and 200°C.The difference in the tensile properties of extruded sheets mainly arises from the different strengthening roles of grain refinement, solid solution strengthening and precipitation strengthening of particles. | Jing Jiang Guangli Bi Jiaan Liu ChunChun Ye Jianshe Lian Zhonghao Jiang | 2014 | Journal of Magnesium and Alloys2014,2,3: | 2
Mechanical properties and deformation mechanisms of a novel fine-grained Mg-Gd-Y-Ag-Zr-Ce alloy with high strength-ductility synergy显示文摘Grain boundary precipitation and segregation play an important role in determining mechanical properties of Mg alloys. In the present work, we studied work focuses on the strengthening and deformation mechanism of coarse-grained(CG) and fine-grained(FG) Mg-Gd-Y-Ag-Zr-Ce alloy. The CG alloy is strengthened by means of age-strengthening with the formation of both basal plate γ' and prismatic plate β’ precipitates in the grain interior. While the strengthening of FC alloy is completed by intergranular alloying segregation and intragranular precipitates γ' and β’. The segregation of alloying elements at the grain boundary and formation of sub-micron particles can stabilize the grain boundary and suppress the intergranular deformation. Consequently, dislocations could be trapped near γ' and β’ precipitates in the grain interior. Unlike CG alloys, the FG alloys exhibit a heterogeneous transition from elastic to plastic deformation via the Lüders plateau. The rapid gliding dislocation multiplications and fine-grained size are necessary and sufficient conditions for the Lüders strains. Our work provides the insights on the evolution of fine-grained microstructure and helps for the design of Mg alloys with good mechanical properties. | Xiaofei Cui Wei Fu Daqing Fang Guangli Bi Zijun Ren Shengwu Guo Suzhi Li Xiangdong Ding Jun Sun | 2021 | Journal of Materials Science & Technology2021,,7: | 1

Microstructure and yield phenomenon of an extruded Mg-Y-Cu alloy with LPSO phase显示文摘A yield phenomenon was firstly reported in an extruded Mg-6.8Y-2.5Cu alloy and the corresponding microstructure was also investigated in this work,The cast alloy is mainly composed ofα-Mg,18R long period stacking order(LPSO)phase, eutectic phase(Mg_(20)Cu_(4)Y_(1)),and Mg_(2)Cu phase. The 18R LPSO phase at the dendritic grain boundary transforms into the 14H LPSO phase in the grain interior during homogenization. After extrusion, the grain size of the homogenized alloy is remarkably refined to-3.69μm and the second phase is significantly broken and distributed in the extrusion direction.Tensile testing curves of the extrude alloy at room temperature indicate that the yield strength and ultimate tensile strength increase while the elongation of the alloy decreases with increasing strain rate.Interestingly,a yield plateau fo rms and gradually decreases with increasing strain rate. The yield phenomenon is related to the dislocation multiplication and the interaction between the movable dislocations and solute atoms. | Guangli Bi Niuming Zhang Jing Jiang Yuandong Li Tijun Chen Wei Fu Xiaoru Zhang Daqing Fang Xiangdong Ding | 2023 | Journal of Rare Earths2023,41,3: | 0
