1Influence of wettability on flow characteristics of water through microtubes and cores显示文摘The flow characteristics of deionized water in hydrophilic and hydrophobic microtubes with diameters of 14.9,5.03 and 2.05 μm are investigated experimentally.The results indicate that the flow characteristics of deionized water in microtubes with diameter of 14.9 μm are in agreement with the classical Hagen-Poiseuille(H-P) equation,but for hydrophilic and hydrophobic microtubes with smaller diameters,the results show significant departure from the prediction of conventional theory,and the discrepancies are influenced by wettability of the microtubes and increase as the Reynolds numbers decrease.Besides,flows of fluid in cores are the macroscopic reflection of flows in countless micron-sized pore throats,the influence of wettability on microscale flow in pore throats will cause the change of seepage characteristic in cores.Therefore,flow experiments of brine through cores with different wettabilities are conducted.The results demonstrate that wettability exerts similar influence on water flows in cores and microtubes.WANG Fei YUE XiangAn XU ShaoLiang ZHANG LiJuan ZHAO RenBao HOU JiRui 2009Chinese Science Bulletin2009,54,13:7

3Induction of embryonic stem cells to hematopoietic cells in vitro显示文摘In order to get hematopoietic cells from embryonic stem (ES) cells and to study development mechanisms of hematopoietic cells, the method of inducing embryonic stem cells to hematopoietic cells was explored by differenciating mouse ES cells and human embryonic cells in three stages. The differentiated cells were identified by flow cytometry, immunohistochemistry and Wright’s staining. The results showed that embryoid bodies (EBs) could form when ES cells were cultured in the medium with 2-mercaptoethanol (2-ME). However, cytokines, such as stem cell factor (SCF), thrombopoietin (TPO), interleukin-3 (IL-3), interleukin-6 (IL-6), erythropoietin (EPO) and granular colony stimulating factor (G-CSF), were not helpful for forming EBs. SCF, TPO and embryonic cell conditional medium were useful for the differentiation of mouse EBs to hematopoietic progenitors. Eighty-six percent of these cells were CD34+ after 6-d culture. 4Experimental investigation on flow characteristics of deionized water in microtubes显示文摘The flow characteristics of deionized water in microtubes with diameters ranging from 2 to 30 μm are investigated. The experimental results show that the flow characteristics in microtubes with diameters of 16 μm and larger ones are in agreement with the classical theory. However, as the diameters are de-creased to 5 and 2 μm, the nonlinear flow characteristics prevail and the results indicate significant departure of flow characteristics from the predictions of the conventional theory, and the smaller the diameters, the larger the departure. As the Reynolds number increases, the degree of nonlinear flow characteristics decrease gradually and the experimental results are approximately equal to the theo-retical expectation. 5In-line X-ray phase-contrast imaging of murine liver microvasculature ex vivo显示文摘Imaging blood vessels is of importance for determining the vascular distribution of organs and tumors.Phase-contrast X-ray imaging can reveal the vessels in much more detail than conventional X-ray absorption method.Visualizing murine liver microvasculature ex vivo with phase-contrast X-ray imaging was performed at Shanghai Synchrotron Radiation Facility.Barium sulfate and physiological saline were used as contrast agents for the blood vessels.Blood vessels of <Φ20μm could be detected by replacing resident blood with physiological saline or barium sulfate.An entire branch of the portal vein (from the main axial portal vein to the ninth generation of branching) could be captured in a single phase-contrast image.It is demonstrated that selective angiography based on phase contrast X-ray imaging,with a physiological material of low Z elements (such as saline) being the contrast agent,is a viable imaging strategy.Further efforts will be focused on using the technique to image tumor angiogenesis.LI Beilei XU Min WU Weizhong PENG Guanyun ZHANG Xi PENG Yifeng SHI Hongcheng CHEN Shaoliang 2012Nuclear Science and Techniques2012,23,1:5
6Soil Nutrient Variance by Slope Position in a Mollisol Farmland Area of Northeast China显示文摘In order to generate scientifically-based comparative information to improve fertilization efficiency and reduce nutrient loss, 610 samples of 122 soil profiles were collected at the 0–60 cm depth to compare soil nutrient contents including soil organic matter(SOM), total nitrogen(TN), total phosphorus(TP), available phosphorus(AP), and available potassium(AK) among different slope positions in a Mollisol farmland area of Northeast China. The contents of SOM and TN typically decreased with increased soil depth at back and bottom slope. Soil loss and deposition tended to decrease SOM and TN at the 0–20 cm soil depth on both the back slope and the slope bottom. The TP firstly decreased from 0–20 cm to 30–40 cm, and then not constantly increased at the back slope and the bottom slope. Due to the characteristics of soil nutrients and crop absorption, the contents of both AP and AK were typically the highest at the summit, followed by the slope bottom and the back slope in the 0–20 cm layer. 7A scalable code dissemination protocol in heterogeneous wireless sensor networks显示文摘Code dissemination is currently a major research issue in wireless sensor networks (WSNs).Many studies focus on code dissemination in homogeneous WSNs,mainly using a broadcast approach to solve this problem;few studies on code dissemination in heterogeneous WSNs.Furthermore,broadcasting cannot readily be used to solve the heterogenous WSN code dissemination problem directly,which is where we have focused our attention.We transformed this problem into a minimum non-leaf nodes (MNN) Steiner tree problem.We designed a scalable multicast protocol,named Heterogeneous Sensor Networks Scalable Reprogramming Protocol (HSR) to solve the MNN problem.HSR can build different multicast trees according to different nodes or code modules to disseminate different codes to them.HSR is able to approximate the MNN tree problem to a ratio of ln|R| (R is the set of all destinations) best known lowest bound.Therefore,the communication cost is significantly decreased and the total energy required by WSNs is reduced.We further designed two scalable schemes,special routing log and hops-restricted local broadcast,which compress the multicast tree information and deliver the multicast messages without loss.We also designed a 3-stage pipeline to speed up the transmission of packets,which alleviated interference and hidden terminal issues.We evaluated our design through comprehensive simulations and prototype implementations on Mica2 motes.Experimental results demonstrate that HSR outperforms previous protocols including the most recent studies on Sprinkler and uCast.PENG ShaoLiang LI ShanShan LIAO XiangKe PENG YuXing XIAO Nong 2012Science China(Information Sciences)2012,55,6:5
8Biodistribution of fullerene derivative C_(60)(OH)_x(O)_y显示文摘The biological behavior of fullerene derivatives shows their considerable potential application in medicine field. To understand the biodistribution of C60 derivatives as drugs or drug carriers, a simple water-soluble derivative C60(OH)x(O)y was labeled with 99mTc. A r-counter and a single photo emission computed tomography (SPECT) were used to assess the biodistribution and metabolism of the labeled compound in mice and rabbits, respectively. The results showed that the compound could be absorbed rapidly by tissues, especially by coronal bone, breastbone, backbone, extremity honeycomb, liver and spleen. The clearance was slow from all tissues except for brain. The compound might be excreted through urine and enteron. The biodistribution shows some difference from that of Yamago et al. In this note, we discuss the possible reason leading to the difference. 9Comparison of clinical outcomes of Chinese men and women after coronary stenting for coronary artery disease:a multi-center retrospective analysis of 4,334 patients显示文摘The outcome differences between Chinese male and female patients within one-year follow-up after percutaneous coronary intervention(PCI) with stent remain unclear.The present study was aimed to compare clinical outcomes in such two populations.From May 1999 to December 2009,4,334 patients with acute myocardial infarction(MI),unstable angina,stable angina,or silent ischemia,who underwent PCI,were registered at our centers.Among these,3,089 were men and 1,245 were women.We compared these groups with respect to the primary outcomes of MI and secondary outcomes including a composite of major adverse cardiac events(MACE) including cardiac death,MI,target lesion revascularization,target vessel revascularization(TVR),stent thrombosis(ST),definite ST and probable ST at one-year follow-up.Chinese male patients had a higher MACE rate(13%vs.10.7%,P =0.039),mainly led by TVR(9.09%vs.6.98%,P=0.024) at one year,which was significantly different than female patients.Chinese male and female patients showed a significant difference on MACEs.However,there was no significant difference with respect to MI between these groups.Rajiv Shrestha Jing Xu Dujiang Xie Zhizhong Liu Tian Xu Fei Ye Shiqing Din Xuesong Qian Song Yang Yueqiang Liu Feng Li Aiping Zhang Shaoliang Chen 2014The Journal of Biomedical Research2014,28,5:3
10Mid-infrared chalcogenide microfiber knot resonators显示文摘A novel type of mid-IR microresonator,the chalcogenide glass(ChG)microfiber knot resonator(MKR),is demonstrated,showing easy fabrication,fiber-compatible features,resonance tunability,and high robustness.ChG micro fibers with typical diameters around 3μm are taper-drawn from As2S3 glass fibers and assembled into MKRs in liquid without surface damage.The measured Q factor of a typical 824μm diameter ChG MKR is about 2.84×104 at the wavelength of 4469.14 nm.The free spectral range(FSR)of the MKR can be tuned from2.0 nm(28.4 GHz)to 9.6 nm(135.9 GHz)by tightening the knot structure in liquid.Benefitting from the high thermal expansion coefficient of As2S3 glass,the MKR exhibits a thermal tuning rate of 110 pm·℃^-1 at the resonance peak.When embedded in polymethyl methacrylate(PMMA)film,a 551μm diameter MKR retains a Q factor of 1.1×10^4.The ChG MKRs demonstrated here are highly promising for resonator-based optical technologies and applications in the mid-IR spectral range.YU XIE DAWEI CAI HAO WU JING PAN NING ZHOU CHENGUANG XIN SHAOLIANG YU PAN WANG XIAOSHUN JIANG JIANRONG QIU XIN GUO LIMIN TONG 2020Photonics Research2020,8,4:3
11In vitro differentiation of mouse ES cells into hepatocytes with coagulation factors VIII and IX expression profiles显示文摘Coagulation factors II, V, VII, VIII, IX and X are produced by hepatocytes. So factors VIII and IX deficiencies, which result in hemophilia A and B, have the potential to respond to cellular re- placement therapy. Embryonic stem (ES) cells provide a unique source for therapeutic applications. Here, E14 mouse ES cells have been induced into hepatocytes in vitro. Morphology revealed that ES-derived hepatic-like cells were round or polyhedral shaped with distinct boundary of individual cells, and some arranged in trabeculae. These cells expressed endodermal- or liver-specific mRNA --transthyretin (TTR), α1-anti-trypsin (AAT), α-fetoprotein (AFP), albumin (ALB), glucose-6- phoshpatase (G6P) and tyrosine aminotransferase (TAT). Approximately (85.1(0.5)% of the ES-de- rived cells was stained positive green with ICG uptake. These cells were also stained magenta as a result of PAS reaction. In this paper, expression of coagulation factors VIII and IX mRNA in the ES-derived cells is documented. 13Segmentation algorithm for Hangzhou white chrysanthemums based on least squares support vector machine显示文摘In order to realize the visual positioning for Hangzhou white chrysanthemums harvesting robot in natural environment,a color image segmentation method for Hangzhou white chrysanthemum based on least squares support vector machine(LS-SVM)was proposed.Firstly,bilateral filter was used to filter the RGB channels image respectively to eliminate noise.Then the pixel-level color feature and texture feature of the image,which was used as input of LS-SVM model(classifier)and SVM model(classifier),were extracted via RGB value of image and gray level co-occurrence matrix.Finally,the color image was segmented with the trained LS-SVM model(classifier)and SVM model(classifier)separately.The experimental results showed that the trained LS-SVM model and SVM model could effectively segment the images of the Hangzhou white chrysanthemums from complicated background taken under three illumination conditions such as front-lighting,back-lighting and overshadow,with the accuracy of above 90%.When segmenting an image,the SVM algorithm required 1.3 s,while the LS-SVM algorithm proposed in this paper just needed 0.7 s,which was better than the SVM algorithm obviously.The picking experiment was carried out and the results showed that the implementation of the proposed segmentation algorithm on the picking robot could achieve 81%picking success rate.Qinghua Yang Shaoliang Luo Chun Chang Yi Xun Guanjun Bao 2019International Journal of Agricultural and Biological Engineering2019,12,4:3
14Flow characteristics and reaction properties of carbon dioxide in microtubules and porous media显示文摘Carbon dioxide reacts with porous media while flowing through them enhancing their permeability.Its flow behavior as well as the permeability enhancement effects were studied in synthetic cores,natural cores and microtubes with an inner diameter of 5 μm.The results show that the permeability of H2O-saturated cores(containing carbonate ingredients) was enhanced by increasing the injection volume of a CO2-H2O solution.This enhancement is attributable to carbon dioxide's corrosion,which is justified by SEM scanning.The same phenomenon occurs with a CO2-H2O solution in microtubes,but for a different reason.The gas flow velocity of carbon dioxide in microtubes was approximately 100% faster than that of nitrogen because of the scale and the squeezing effects.Carbon dioxide molecules dissolved in water accelerate the diffusion rate of water molecules within the boundary layer,which in turn diminishes the thickness of the water film and enlarges the effective pore size.This flow behavior facilitates the injection of carbon dioxide into low-permeability reservoirs for oil-displacement and formation energy buildup purposes.This behavior also increases the potential for carbon dioxide channeling or release from the formation.ZHAO RenBao YUE XiangAn WU YaHong XU ShaoLiang WANG Fei HOU YongLi 2008Chinese Science Bulletin2008,53,21:2
15Experimental study of the gap between track slab and cement asphalt mortar layer in CRTS I slab track显示文摘Gap exists in the interface of cement asphalt emulsion mortar and CRTS I track slab universally, which is more severe at four corners than other parts of the track slab.In this work, the temperature and elevation of CRTS I slab track with and without rail were measured continuously to study the influence mechanism of rail on the gap. The results show that the alternating temperature gradient of track slab is the main reason that causes the gap, and laying rail can efficiently decrease the gap size in the slab track without rail. Compared with the slab track without rail, the maximum elevation occurred at the corner, the maximum gap width and the maximum gap depth of the slab track with rail laid were decreased by 0.45 mm(25.7%), 0.75 mm(46.6%)and 9.5 mm(59.4%), respectively; meanwhile, the disqualification ratio at corners was reduced to 5.9%, which is 50%less than that of the track without rail. 17Chinese Guideline for Percutaneous Coronary Intervention in Patients with Left Main Bifurcation Disease显示文摘The coronary left main(LM)artery is characterized by large caliber,length varying from<8 to>15 mm,and 2 large daughter vessels branching from it;it supplies blood to a large area(>75%)of the myocardium.LM bifurcation lesion is defined as the presence of atherosclerosis involving either or both of the 2 daughter vessels.Thus,the optimal strategy of revascularization for diseased LM has been an interesting research topic for a long time.With developments in percutaneous techniques,design,and materials of drug-eluting stents;intravascular imaging;new generation of antiplatelet medications;and particularly recent pooled evidence from randomized clinical trials comparing percutaneous coronary intervention with coronary artery bypass grafting,implantation of a drug-eluting stenting with or without other approved techniques is considered an important therapeutic approach for LM bifurcation lesions.Mirroring the anatomical complexity of the LM,stenting LM bifurcations is technically demanding,and intraprocedural complications can be catastrophic given the large amount of jeopardized myocardium.Therefore,the Chinese Society of Cardiology designed a writing committee with members from 3 working groups(ie,clinical research,intravascular imaging and physiology,and interventional cardiology)for the first time,to write a guideline on percutaneous treatment for LM bifurcation lesions,with view to improve the procedural quality and clinical outcomes.This guideline consists of introduction,anatomical description of the LM tree,risk stratification,strategies of revascularization,antiplatelet strategy,follow-up,and long-term management for patients with LM bifurcation lesions.Chinese Society of Cardiology,Chinese Medical Association Editorial Board of Chinese Journal of Cardiology Shaoliang Chen Yaling Han 2022Cardiology Discovery2022,2,3:2
